Science/Technology / Diy (do It Yourself) Thread by irukandji89(m): 7:58am On Sep 16, 2014
There are many things or services that, when we take time (which may be very little) to learn, we find out that we can do them ourselves and in so doing cut off some unnecessary costs.

The term DIY means "Do It Yourself" and it is a common term used by hobbyists, geniuses and most tech savvy populace.

We are usually too lazy to do stuffs on our own, stuffs that once we get the hang of, seem too easy that we literally beat ourselves for paying others to do it.

Some services also seem like rocket science but in fact, they are not.

Some jobs are so easy that we should do them ourselves ... .....

Changing car engine oil, fixing a blown bulb, changing a blown fuse, changing a door lock, painting a small room, fixing a single tap, assembling and installing a new tv/fan, formatting a system ....... The list is endless.

The purpose of this long overdue thread is to provide information (from the net with sources and from personal experience of the OP) on some things that are fairly easy to do by oneself without paying for others to do for you.

DISCLAIMER: Many of the info's posted here will not be the handiwork of the OP. Most will be culled from top DIY sites (with links provided of course).

Every job posted here will be at the risk of anyone who attempts it. I would not be held responsible for any accident due to your carelessness. I will provide safety guidelines though.

Some jobs that will be posted on this thread will involve the use of electricity powered devices as tools. Please follow general safety guidelines when handling power tools.

Lastly, not everyone can try every job that will be posted here.

Try the one that you feel you can do. Or anyone that applied to your area of specialization.

Finally, I also appeal to members to kindly contribute positively to this thread.

There are lots of geniuses on this forum.

Lets share our ingenuity with others.

More proof that this method actually works, and is faster than budding (for citrus plants).
This is my air-layered lemon plant. Its a little over 1 year (a year and a month).

It is about 1.5m high.

It is already bearing fruits.

Attached picture of the young plant in my farm with another showing the fruit.

It won't make them feel left behind.

And when you miss some pages, why not check them out to know the context of a particular discussion?

I really hope I can be added.

I make pwm inverters and I am yet to learn how to integrate solar cells to inveters.

I also incorporate change over unit to my inveters for switching to mains when its available.

If I can get how to make my mini inveter run on solar power, I may not need to remove my car battery anymore *smiles*.

aguiyi: Do you know of any citrus specie that can be harvested 2years after planting ?

Marcotted lemon trees start bearing fruits in a little over a year.

This is possible with good care.

aguiyi: Do you know of any citrus specie that can be harvested 2years after planting ?
. I think the closest one is lemon which is 3 years. It matures after 5 years. It all comes down to how much care you give them. Weeding, fertilizer application, training of ∂ branches to grow upwards etc. This is based on my own experience though.

pryncipal: Who is advising that 1m dish can be used for nilesat, for dose in north a minimum of 1.8m will do it but with restrictions, for a better signal n full coverage use 2.4m, For those in south a mlnlmum of 2.4m with retrictions, For full pakage of nilsat 101,201,202 u need 3,5m and above to enjoy the wonders of nilesat. The channels are splendid, 1daful picture etc. The pakage cares for the whole famly. Sports ,news ,movies ,cattoon ,documentary etc.
. Is it Cband or Ku band sir?

i have already done that but stations under the tp 10804h v 30000 are not coming up. What do i do pls? Thanks.
. Track amos5 and 16e with 12216v27500. Stand in front of ur dish and skew ur lnb to btw 7 and 8 o clock (then go behind to track lol). Use a 90cm dish. Sometimes the rod on which d lnb holder rests might have bent too close to the dish, changing the actual focal length . Check d space of ur own and compare it with another dish of the same size. All the best.
