An Economist and Public Affairs commentator, Dele Sobowale has said that going by the way things are going, Nigeria may become the first fourth world country.

Speaking while reacting to the state of affairs in the country, that Nigeria, with all the natural and human resources, had stubbornly remained in the third world.

According to him, the country is now in danger of creating a special category for itself, by becoming the world`s only fourth world country.

He said that the current federal government has put Nigeria`s present and future generations into debt as a result of its excessive borrowing.

According to him, morally, there is nothing wrong with borrowing, just as lending is also acceptable in every society.
However, he said that there is something wrong with failure to pay one`s debts and lending with exploitative interest rates that makes repayment a herculean task.

According to him, as it is with individuals, so is it with institutions and governments.

Borrowing is good so long as it is so well managed that it will not turn into debts for the unborn generation. When those in office regard the power vested in them as a personal prerogative, they inevitably enrich themselves , promote their families, favor their friends. The fundamental structures of the modern state are eroded like the supporting beams of a house after termites have cracked them. The people have to pay dearly for the sins and crimes of their leaders.

Tragedy struck this morning in Lagos as a pregnant woman who was going to Navy Hospital in the Satellite Town area of Lagos for delivery died on the road.

The car conveying the woman from Okokomaiko ran into heavy traffic at the Ojo Army barracks.

While she was waiting in the car, she went into forced labor and started to bleed. After a lot of time, the driver of the car was able to maneuver out of the traffic to Bonne Sante hospital located at the Barracks bus stop.

But on getting there, she was rejected on the ground that she had lost a lot of blood.

According to an eye witness who spoke to Irukkanews, the resident doctor told the husband of the woman that his wife had lost a lot of blood and that they had none in the hospital to give to her.

His words

“The doctor told the husband of the pregnant woman to carry his wife to Navy hospital since that is the nearest place they can get blood. The man carried his wife back to the car and began to look for another road to avoid the traffic which was coming from the overhead bridge at Lagos International Trade Fair and in the process the woman died”.

According to him, when the man noticed that his wife had died, he too collapsed in the car, adding that it took a combined effort of people living in Olanrewaju street where he drove into in search of an alternative route to revive him.

He called on the Lagos State government to persuade the contractor handling the Lagos, Badagry expressway to finish the road in good time.

The pomp and celebration which greeted the arrival of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governor of Lagos State have suddenly ground to a halt.

The reason for this is because the government has gone bunkers, financially speaking.

Irukkanews reporters who carried out an investigation on the true financial state of the famed largest economy in the whole of Africa after a lot of rumors revealed that the situation is so terrible that the government barely has enough money to run its day-to-day activities.

According to the investigation, this would hamper the road rehabilitation program which is billed to start today.

A Lagos state financial consultant who spoke on condition of anonymity with irukkanews said the governor is in fix with regard to the financial situation because all his dreams of a better Lagos is being threatened.

He said that it is because of the financial situation of the state that the members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and other Lagosians who are ignorant of what led to it want to have the immediate past governor, Akinwunmi Ambode hanged thinking that he is the one that ran the state into debt.

According to him, the real reason for the financial situation is because the money that former governors borrowed over the years when they were in office has now matured and the borrowers want their money back.

His words,

“Some of the commissioners came to me to help but I told them that there is nothing I can do. The situation is very terrible, Babajide Sanwo-Olu is an unlucky man. He came in at a very wrong time and he is going to end up having bad names for what he did not cause because people out of ignorance are going to accuse him of not doing much in his tenure.

Another thing is that some people are blaming the immediate past governor for the financial problem of the state but these are debts which Lagos State government went into more than 10 years ago that have now matured for repayment.”.

On the way forward, he said that the only alternative is for the government to look for money internally by increasing taxes and also become creative in looking for other areas to generate revenue.

"The governor at this time cannot be talking of building infrastructure, when there may not be enough to pay salaries and for running the day-to-day activities of the government".

World Mental Health Day is a day for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma.

It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.

there’s always a theme given for every year’s celebration and the theme of this year is ‘Suicide Prevention’.

Suicide has been a trending issue all over the world, the world has recorded several cases of suicide and they say No! to suicide.

Suicide Prevention

A suicidal person may not ask for help, but that doesn’t mean that help isn’t wanted. People who take their lives don’t want to die, they just want to stop hurting. Suicide is a desperate attempt to escape suffering that has become unbearable. Blinded by feelings of self-loathing, hopelessness, and isolation, a suicidal person can’t see any way of finding relief except through death.

Withdrawing from friends and family. Increasing social isolation. Desire to be left alone.

A sudden sense of calm and happiness after being extremely depressed can mean that the person has made a decision to attempt suicide.

Nigerian born superstar, Wizkid in a new interview revealed that he left his former record label he was signed to Empire Mates Entertainment with zero naira.

According to him in an interview with Capital Xtra, no one knows the story but the literary had to leave the label with Zero naira.

Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) co-owned by Banky W and Tunde Demuren was founded in 2002 and signed on Wizkid in 2009. Wizkid stayed with the record label for 5 years during a period of which he releases 2 albums with the first 'Superstar" rated as one the best pop albums to ever grace the Nigerian market

Wizkid left EME in 2013 after reports started flying around of how he was been underpaid and cheated of his cuts by the record management. According to the report then, Wizkid was getting 25 percent from every show while Banky W and Segun Demuren were getting 50 percent. Osagie, Wizkid's former manager, was getting the remaining 25 percent. After firing Osagie and hiring Godwin Tom, Wizkid wanted a 50-50 share with Banky W but Banky W refused to accept Wizkid's proposal.

The appointment of Stefano Pioli as the new head coach of AC Milan has been officially announced.

This is coming just days after Marco Giampaolo’s appointment as coach of the Italian club was terminated. He spent only 111 in charge, making it the shortest reign of any manager in the club’s history.



53-year-old Pioli reportedly arrived at Casa Milan this morning (Oct.9) to sign a two-year contract with the Italian club.

The club also confirmed his appointment via a statement on their official website.

‘AC Milan announces the appointment with immediate effect of Mr. Stefano Pioli as the new coach of the First Team,’ it reads.

‘Born in October 1965 in Parma, Stefano Pioli began his career as a coach in 1999. His first coaching experience in Serie A was at Parma in 2006. He then went on to coach several other Serie A Clubs: Chievo Verona, Palermo, Bologna, Lazio, and Inter Milan, before moving to Fiorentina in 2017. Stefano Pioli now joins AC Milan on a two-year agreement.

This is the moment Vinnie Jones breaks down in tears as he recalls his beloved wife Tanya's final days before she died after a six-year battle with cancer.

According to Sunday Mirror, the footballer who won the 1988 FA Cup with Wimbledon's 'Crazy Gang' and made his film debut in Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels a decade later said he has cried 'almost every night' since his spouse of 25 years died in their Hollywood home on July 6.

Speaking of her final moments, surrounded by family, he said:

'I was cuddling her and holding her hand and when she finally went it felt like Tinkerbell had released from her into the room.
'I got peace from that.'

Vinnie choked up with tears as he read a handwritten love letter his wife left behind, emblazoned with the words

'Always Believe Something Wonderful is About to Happen'

Inside the card, which Vinnie carries with him everywhere, which was given to him by the wife, it says:

'To my love Vin, something wonderful happens to me every day. It’s being with you. You are my morning sunshine the moment I wake. All my love, Tanya.'

'I broke down when I read it because I loved her like that too,' he told the publication.
Describing Tanya's final days, he said:

'In the hospital, I got this I got a wonderful, wonderful memory just before we brought her home.

'She would sleep a lot, wake up, then fall asleep again. The nurses and doctors said: "Talk away, she is listening to you."

'There was one moment when we were talking about her horse and she was fast asleep, then all of a sudden she put her hands up like she was riding a horse.

'She was stroking her pillow, as if stroking the horse's mane. It proved to us she was listening.'

In the days before her death, Tanya was treated at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles before spending her last hours in the couple's Los Angeles home.

Vinnie said:
'In that last week of her life when the doctors said there were no more treatments, I never told her she was dying. We never spoke of that, I didn't want her to know.

'In the hospital I slept there every night and Kaley would come every morning.'

Speaking the moment she passed away, Vinnie said:

'We knew it was the end, we were cuddling her. I kissed her a lot and told her I loved her. I kept saying "I love you, I love you".'

Tanya, who died aged 53, had also been treated twice for cervical cancer and underwent a heart transplant at 21 following the birth of her daughter Kaley.

The couple met 25 years ago while Vinnie played for AFC Wimbledon, where he and a group of players earned notoriety as a member of the 'Crazy Gang' at the club.

They married in Watford in 1994 and renewed their vows in 2007 (pictured in 2008)

Tanya is survived by her daughter, Kaley, by her former husband Steve Terry, and a son, Aaron, who she shares with Vinnie.

'In the evenings I've cried every night... it's lonely. It's not self-pity crying it's

"how am I going to go on?".'

A man was shot dead by his father-in-law after the victim who had flown in from Norway to the US jumped out of the bushes to surprise him for his birthday.

61-year-old Richard Dennis opened fire on Christopher Bergan, 37, outside his house in Pensacola on Tuesday night (Oct.1) in what police described as a 'horrible accident'.

On Thursday, October 3, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson announced at a news conference that Dennis will not face charges for the incident.

Johnson said Bergan, who is married to Dennis' daughter and has a son and lives in Norway, arrived at a Florida airport on Tuesday evening and went straight to his father-in-law's home.

Dennis, who had no idea of Bergan's arrival reportedly heard someone banging on his

backdoor at around 11.30 pm. He turned on the porch light before Bergan leaped 'out of the shadows', making a growling sound as he emerged from a bush.

Unknown to him, it was his inlaw, Dennis fired one shot that struck Bergan in the chest, killing him instantly.

Westlife star Mark Feehily welcomed a daughter to the world on Tuesday'

The couple announced that they are expecting their first child in May before revealing in July that they were set to welcome a girl. The tot is thought to be the result of a surrogate.

The Star took to his Instagram page to reveal he had become a father with his fiance Cailean O'neil.

He also added that the baby's name is Layla and was born safe & sound at 7.27 pm on October 1st, 2019.

Police in Imo State has uncovered a plot by a woman in Imo State, Mrs. Nkeriuka Kamalu bought a baby to deceive a lawmaker, Hon. Kingsley Uju, a member representing Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West federal constituency, who she alleged raped her and got her pregnant.

According to Superintendent Orland Ikeokwu, spokesman for Imo State Police Command, Mrs. Kamalu, 40 and other conspirators attempted to blackmail and extort money from the lawmaker.

He said that the woman had claimed to be pregnant for Hon. Uju and blackmailed him into sending various sums of money to her, including the money to travel to Canada to have his baby.

Ikeokwu however, said investigation revealed that Kamalu was neither pregnant nor traveled to Canada nor had a set of twins as she claimed.

The Police spokesman said that the woman went and bought an app and put in her phone so that whenever she was calling the lawmaker, it would seem as if she was abroad.
