A secret meeting organized by the members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in a private school in Okutukutu axis of Yenagoa, the state capital have been stopped by Personnel of Operation Puff Adder of the Bayelsa State Police Command.

The security operatives also arrested 10 persons attending the meeting which is alleged to be part of a plan to allegedly unleash mayhem on some parts of Bayelsa State.

A book titled “The Chain of One Nigeria Broken (The story of our journey to Freedom)” was also recovered from the suspects during the raid on the meeting by security operatives on Tuesday afternoon June 1.

An eyewitness told Daily Trust that a legal practitioner and the headmaster of the school were among the ten persons arrested.

“The suspects were arrested by a team of Operation Puff Adder when plain-clothed policemen and uniformed ones stormed the area.

“Many residents started moving into their homes to avoid being caught on the wrong side of the law. They proceeded to the school and we were shocked when they brought out people in handcuffs. We thought the school was empty.”

In what seems to be a confirmation of the arrest, Bayelsa police spokesperson, Asinim Butswat warned members of the public in the State to stay clear from any form of association with the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (lPOB).

Butswat also disclosed that intelligence available to the Command indicates that some misguided elements are planning to set-up IPOB cells in the State, hinting that Police Operatives are on their trail and monitoring their activities.

He said;

“The Command will deal decisively with any person or group of persons that attempt to disrupt the prevailing and peaceful security situation in the State.

Business owners at Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin, Local Government Area of Lagos State, have decried the illegal activities of the officials of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), located at First Avenue, Festac Town.

According to him, since the outbreak of COVID-19, they have been struggling in their businesses, adding that for the officials of FIRS, First Avenue, Festac Town, to be coming to extort them is nothing but adding salt to their injury.

Adigun said that what business owners need at this point in time is tax holiday to help them recover from the consequences of the pandemic and not harassment, intimidation and sealing up of their business premises.

His words: “We, the business owners association in Festac Town, passionately appeal to the Lagos and Federal governments to save us from the hands of the officials of Federal Inland Service, First Avenue, Festac Town, extorting team, led by one Muhammed. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been suffering, our businesses have been struggling. We are not even breaking even, let alone making profit and yet this Muhammed and his team always come to harass, intimidate us with over bloated bills and telling us that it is either we pay or ‘settle’ him and if not he will seal our business premises. If you come to Festac Town, you will see seal signs everywhere. Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed the relevant ministry to hand over the matter to the state Police Command for further investigation following discrepancy discovered in the story of an amputee sachet water hawker, Mary Daniels, 26, who recently received donations from Nigerians due to her situation.

It was discovered that the stories earlier narrated by the amputee were conflicting coupled with strange calls coming from people suspected to be those that she worked for before her discovery. The actions of the state government became necessary after investigations revealed that the amputee was not telling a true story about herself and the life she had been living before helps from the public and government intervention came to her way.

The development came to light when some of the people Daniels had a deal started calling repeatedly, demanding for their own share of the donations Daniels had received from the public or else they would expose her.

It was also discovered that Daniel claims that she was an orphan and that the parents died during an accident were untrue, while her situations in Oshodi were allegedly staged. The source narrated that during interrogations, it was discovered that the amputee’s father was still alive contrary to Daniel’s initial claim that she lost both parents during an accident several years back.

Also after several hours of investigation into her story, the official added that it was discovered that the sachet water hawker’s mother truly died but was not through an auto crash as earlier narrated by Daniel after arriving Oshodi where she was discovered last month.

Forbes announced on Tuesday, April 6, Kim Kardashian’s inclusion on the World’s Billionaires list for the first time, citing her two lucrative businesses, KKW Beauty and Skims, as well as cash from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and endorsement deals.

Kim’s worth increased from $780 million in October to $1 billion.

Sir Jude Nnam, a prominent Catholic music composer, has dragged Emeka Okonkwo (E-Money) to court for alleged Copyright infringement. Five Star Music and Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo (KCEE) are also Defendants in the suit.

He is seeking “A DECLARATION that the copyright, as well as the ownership rights to the song titled ‘SOM TOO CHUKWU’ which was surreptitiously included in the music album titled “CULTURAL PRAISE VOL.1 by the 3rd Defendant without the Plaintiff’s consent or authorization, is vested in the Plaintiff by Virtue of his composing the said song in the year 2001.

“A DECLARATION that the Defendants jointly and severally infringed on the copyright of the Plaintiff by adapting, producing, distributing, marketing, advertising and performing to the general public the song titled “SOM TOO CHUKWU ” without his consent or authorization (either written or oral).

“Perpetual Injunction retraining, preventing and or prohibiting the Defendants herein whether acting by themselves, or through their servants, agents, privies, legal representatives, or any other person howsoever described Acting for them and/or at their instance from infringing on the copyright of the plaintiff to the song titled “SOM TOO CHUKWU” by any means, however.

Mr. Jude also wants the court to compel the Defendants to jointly and severally render an account of the profits, income, and benefits generated from the adaptation, production, distribution, sale, advertisement, marketing, and performance of the titled “SOM TOO CHUKWU” from December 2020 till judgment and the sum of N150,000,000 as general damages

In the Statement of Claim with Suit No: FHC/L/CS/304/202 made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Jude accused the defendants of reproducing, marketing and distributing his work without his permission as the original owner of the work.

He explained that the music was first produced in 2001 with the title “SOM TO CHUKWU”, to celebrate his daughter’s first birth, but he was surprised to discover that his original work has be reproduced, duplicated, sold, marketed, advertised, distributed to the general public and retitled as “CULTURAL PRAISE VOL.1” by the Defendants.

He said he composed the musical work for private worship of God and for liturgical purposes in the church, especially during offerings, tithe and donations in the church adding that apart from composing the musical work in sofa and staff notation, he went to fix the musical work in audio form with the help of a choral group and he relied on Keyboard, African drum, wooden gongs and guitar as musical instruments

Mr. Nnam who is a Music Director, Yamaha Ambassador, choral conductor, keyboardist, worship songwriter, accused the 3rd Defendant Kingsley (Kcee) of performing the musical work in 2020 at a wedding reception in Nigeria and has continued till January 2021. He also said other artists and copies of the said music have been distributed digitally on various social media platforms without his consent or authorization.

He also avers that in adapting, producing, distributing, marketing the musical work for sale, the Defendants failed to recognize and/or acknowledges his copyright as well as ownership rights to the musical work and that copyright protection under the extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is automatic upon his creation and composition of the work in the year 2001.

THENIGERIALAWYER (TNL), further gathered that the plaintiff through his lawyer Micheal Amakeze, had on 28th January 2021 written to the Defendants, on the copyright infringement of his client’s work, Jude Nnam and since then the Defendants have failed, refused and/or neglected to take required actions to mitigate or curb the infringement of his copyright.

Three years and five weeks since her abduction in Dapchi, Yobe State, a United States-based group, US-Nigeria Law Group, has lamented the plight of the abandoned Dapchi “heroine Christian” schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu, with reports she has given birth to a second child in captivity.

It would be recalled that Leah, still held in captivity, was forced to accept Islam before being married off to a top Boko Haram commander after she refused to renounce her Christian faith.

Leah was among 110 girls, aged between 11 and 19 years, who were abducted by the terrorists from Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, on February 19, 2018.

Convener of the US-Nigeria Law Group, Emmanuel Ogebe, said in a statement that “despite an offer by an American pastor last month to surrender himself in exchange for Leah’s freedom, there has been no tangible response from her captors.

“That notwithstanding, intelligence received on the status of Leah indicates that she has delivered a second child in captivity. While we have not corroborated this by multiple sources, a usually knowledgeable source indicated that she delivered a second child late last year. This means both children were born in 2020 as the terrorists announced her childbirth earlier in 2020. We are still investigating this.”

The Guardian newspaper on January 1, 2019, named Leah Sharibu as its 2018 ‘‘Person of the Year,’’
aptly describing her as “A goddess of resistance”.

Correspondents on his arrival to Nigeria from South Africa, the head coach of Real Carat 24 Football Academy, Godson Igwe said that the partnership would enable Real Carat 24 football academy to be sending young talented Nigerian footballers to South Africa for further development and exposure Igwe who played for many top Nigerian football clubs like 3SC of Ibadan, before becoming CAF certified coach said that the partnership would also enable Nigerians playing in Nigerian professional football in Nigeria to get clubs in South Africa.

Our Chairman, Ifeanyi Onwubiko is passionate about taking Nigerian football to the highest level.
