Five-month-old who was screaming and sweating
profusely had to be rescued by police after dad Trent Steinhart went
supermarket shopping.
This shocking CCTV footage shows dozens of shoppers
ignoring a screaming baby who had been left locked in a
boiling hot car.
The five-month-old was trapped inside the vehicle when
her dad went supermarket shopping.
She was rescued about 15 minutes later screaming and
sweating profusely, police said.
The footage shows a black Cadillac Escalade pulling up at
Walmart in Pella, Iowa, with the driver leaving the vehicle.
A number of other cars pull up near the vehicle and
shoppers walk by as the girl is trapped.
More than 10 minutes later a family in a silver people
carrier park next to the vehicle and call police and
paramedics.
As police break into the vehicle, the dad is seen leaving the
store.. "An act like that of carelessness, recklessness or even
forgetfulness could easily cost the life of that child," Pella
police officer Robert Bokinsky, told KCCI News.
The girl's dad, 33-year-old Trent Steinhart, has been
charged with child neglect following yesterday's incident..
