Nowenuse: Ok. Thanks.
So, why don't kanuris promote their own ethnicity?
Do most people in your LGA bear Kanuri marks?
How developed is Nguru? Is it more developed than Potiskum? I guess it is a kanuri town, or not?
I heard Potiskum is more developed than Damaturu the state capital, how true?
I also heard that Hadejia is more developed than Dutse the Jigawa state capital, how true?
Core-northern Nigeria can be very hot during daytimes. Seriously, how do u guys cope with the heat? Potiskum has d largest cattle market in west Africa nd second largest in Africa I tink. It's also a commercial city and has an isolated airport built in 1945 during d colonial era, I quite sure, many people from potiskum r oblivion of it. According to my cousin; " most trailers used to tranfer foodstuff from d north to d south," are from there. Nguru has d western line railway terminus from Lagos. It's home to almustapha nd Ahmed Lawan. Many politicians and educated pole but no too much development. Hadejia is chaotic and rough, d people there r rugged, too much motorcycles... because of dere obstinate demeanor, Sule Lamido didn't do much there except Birniwa, because those ones are loyal. I will prefer Dutse a 100times though cost of living is very high compare to oda parts of d state. My maternal side have bn hausanized due to d inter- marriage btw Kanuri, bade, Hausa and fulani but my paternal side hv not been. Kanuri is their first Lang. Apart frm d elderly people you hardly see children wit dat traditional marks. They only have 3 little marks besides d forhead which is called " hadejawa mark" ie people from Hadejia emirate. |

Muafrika2: Yep. I was visiting Tana River years ago. They are mostly dark. Like other nilotes, but for the Somali looks. They share the county with pokomos. The women walk around with knives - I think its because of the tribal wars Are they related to d Somalis? Here in Nigeria, d shuwa Arabs also move with a knife both male and female. Don't joke with them, they kill faster than ebola And they also look like d Somalis. |

Nowenuse: Yes, Bura (not baburr) are the largest tribe in Southern Borno. Some Buras have explained to me that Babur are the Buras of Adamawa state. But both names are mostly used interchangeably. They are practically the same people.
I think Buras are found in Hawul and Biu LGAs (entirely) while they share Bayo, Askira and Kwaya kusar LGAs with other tribes. Gwoza LGA is dominated by very small minority tribes that may be up to 1 dozen in number.
Do u think Buras are dominantly muslims or christians? Babur, Bura, Pabir are all dsame people jst like Kanuri, Manga, central Kanuri and maybe kanembu. I know a few Babur and they r Muslims. |

Nowenuse: Thanks 4d clarification. I have been to Southern Borno, Adamawa and most parts of the North-east except Yobe.
I think most Marghis who speak Kanuris are those marghi muslims from Damboa LGA, who have been largely 'Kanurinized'. And also, those marghis who have stayed in Maiduguri. Shuwa arabs speak kanuri of course, they are nomadic people who settled in Kanuri land. But most people from Southern Borno do not speak Kanuri. They speak their own languages and Hausa as a lingua franca.
In Adamawa, fulani is spoken by the smaller minority tribes, but Hausa still remains the major lingua franca. Large tribes like Higgi, Bachama, Chamba, Kilba e.t.c do not speak fulani and many of them, including the fulanis cannot speak Hausa well. But Hausa is gainning ground better in Adamawa from what i have observed.
I never knew that first lady could not speak Hausa well, that's interesting to know. I tink Babur are d majority in southern Borno cos they r found in most LG in southern wit large populations like; Biu, Askira, Gwoza etc. Chibok is jst a small village. |

Nowenuse: Interesting.
Is there a Kanuri peoples or students union in Nigeria? I have never heard of one.
Have you met with Kanuris from Niger republic? Do you know the Kanembus? I heard they have the same origin and speak a similar language to Kanuris.
Do u have Kanuri tribal marks? Why do most Kanuris from Yobe and Jigawa seem not to have tribal marks?
I really wonder why fulani herdsmen are just very bad and terrible people with wicked minds. They engage in robbery and even highway robbery not just in the north alone now but also in the south too.
Are the Badawas predominantly christian or muslims? Are they battling with Hausanization or Kanurinization as a minority group close to Kanurisband Hausas?
Do you know the demographics of Yobe state very well? I have hardly met people from that state. There are some things i wanted to inquire. I don't think we have any, but I knw of Marghi stdnt union. Nijer kanuris r many in my village, de r gvn free accommodation. Yep, I knw of a kanembu, de dnt hv any difference wit kanuris. I don't hv any tribal mark neither do any of my siblings, but sum of Dem hv hadejawa marks( a 3 tiny mark on d side head '" . Wen I was a kid I heard my moda saying; they r NT Muslims bfor, but I tink most of Dem are now. I hv only bn to Nguru only in Yobe state. My cousin there spk both Lang very well more than dos in Jigawa. |

Nowenuse: My people (Plateau/Southern kaduna) are actually believed to be descendants of Nok kingdom (the oldest in SubSaharan Africa and one of the oldest in the world). Only Egypt and Nubia kingdoms were earlier than Nok.
Nok unfortunately disappeared apart from few artefacts. A lecturer from my skul x bearing dat name: "Nok" and he's from skd |
