It's so sad. Most Plateau and Southern kaduna indigenes are christians, but my own tribe and few others are 50% muslims.
I have lost some of my own relatives who were mistaken for hausas just by being muslim at the hands of my own fellow christians.

You will not blame the christian indigenes, do you remember the Dogo na hauwa massacre of 2011 or thereabout? well i just fell like i should put it into your notice. in jos for example. there is a large yoruba family whom you may mistake for indigines. They speak both birom and hausa fluently.Jos herself is a christain soon despite muslim population. The riots is always between birom christain youth and hausa vegitable seller. From terminus to ferin gada to gada biyu. It is more ethnical than religion. Yoruba community are left out. Unless igbo trader in some cases.

You know it is mostly the poor people that fight and kill themselves over religion and ethnicity. So the clashes take place more in the low income areas. I don't live in low income areas, but i have peeps who live there and have first hand info on how everything played out.

You should know the way hausa-fulanis behave now, there are many hausa-fulanis who will tell you that they are indigenes of Borno & Yobe state, but you and i know that those states are not part of Hausaland.

Hausa-fulanis are expansionists and our people cannot tolerate such.

I am from Jos and have witnessed this. Most yoruba muslims were chased out of some muslim dominated areas in Jos during the crises. Same thing with Kaduna.

Mostly qaddariyya. If u r in Lagos u might hv heard of shamsudden, islahudden, tabliq, salaffiyya, salafs etc. All dis names r subgroups under either Tijjaniyya, qaddariyya or Ahlu sunnah. All.d grps don't accept d attributes of sectarianism, d Ahlu sunnah refers to odaz as sects excluding themselves.




Sunnis r divided into two...d extremist( Sunni, ahlu sunnah, wahabi, salafiyya nd Izalas of Nigeri) and d liberal ones Sufis( asha'ariya, ahmadiyya, qaddariyya, tijjaniyya etc.).

Quite true. I am seeing greater unity these days between yoruba and Hausa muslims.

Take for instance in my area, we used to have a yoruba mosque where only yorubas and maybe Edo & Kogi muslims worship. Hausas and other muslims did not use to worship there, they had their own mosque.

But recently i saw a hausa man and yoruba woman (acquantancies of mine) and he seemed to be reminding her of some islamic gathering or so. After he left, i asked her and i discovered that Hausas now worship in that yoruba mosque.

But this division still exists in many places. We usually hear of yoruba mosque and Hausa mosque.

Many hausas are still fond of calling yoruba and even middlebelt muslims fake muslims (though i think it has more to do with ignorance and illiteracy).

At Idi araba for instance, they have two central mosques' very close to each oda. One is Darika Tijjaniyya and d oda is a sunni( ahlus sunnah) mosque. And they r also some small small mosques close to each oda. Most Nupes r tijjaniyyas but dey don't pray in d central most of dsame tijjaniyya apart from Fridays.



In my town, there is a mosque close to where I stay, but of d youths being Sunnis don't pray there, because dey tink those old men leading d congregation don't knw how to pray. These r people from dsame place,tribe and most from dsame family.



My point is these: Most of this tins is base on sectarian ideology rather than tribe.



In skul, most of d students leading d congregational prayer are from d mb...kwara( yorubas), kogi( igala& ibira), Niger( Nupe) and some yorubas from sw. The hausas don't complain but wen it cums to sect, de blasts demselves...wherever, u cum from,as far as we belong to dsame sect or share dsame ideology we r brothers.
