I find this absurd!

Reports from Colombia, venue of this year’s FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, WYC, say Nigeria’s first round foes, Saudi Arabia, have demanded that a church at their hotel in Armenia be pulled down because they are putting up in the premises.

Media Officer of the Flying Eagles, Sam Audu, told P.M.Sports from the team’s camp early today that a news report by one of Colombia’s leading television stations, Caracol, says that the Saudis, who are Muslims, have asked that the church built inside the sprawling Las Camelias Hotel Campestre be brought down.

The church is directly behind the hotel, which is nestled in a thick forest. “Everyone was dazed when the Saudis ordered that the House of God be demolished,” Audu said.

It was gathered that the manager of the hotel has reacted by saying there is nothing they can do about the church, adding that FIFA saw it before it approved the hotel to host the teams for the WYC.
According to Audu, the Saudis reluctantly checked into the hotel yesterday evening.
“Colombia is predominantly Catholic and in both private and public places symbols of that faith are proudly displayed,” the Flying Eagles Media Officer stated.
FIFA is yet to react to the development as at the time of filing this report, but Nigerian players and those of the other teams are not comfortable with Saudis’ stand on the church.
The four teams in Group D, Croatia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Guatemala will stay at the 101-room hotel.
Just as Nigeria, Saudi Arabia will play two games in Armenia. They take on Croatia on Sunday, after the clash between Nigeria and Guatemala on 3 August, and will tackle Guatemala also at the venue.
The 21,000-capacity Estadio Centenario will also stage a second round match.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are one of the country’s most successful sides having won the African Youth Championship a record six times.
At the World Cup stage, the Nigeria U-20 squad have twice lost in the final of the FIFA U-20 World Cup and were third at the 1985 edition in the former Soviet Union.
Their last AYC triumph was in May this year, when the current team beat Cameroon 3-2 in a thrilling final in Soweto, South Africa.

To reach the 2011 AYC they had to beat both Mauritius and Guinea in the qualifying series.
The core of this team is from the Golden Eaglets Class of 2009, who were beaten by Switzerland in the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup on home soil.
They prepared for the World Cup with residential training first in the southern Nigerian city of Port Harcourt before they left for a more concentrated training in Faro, Portugal.
They rounded off their World Cup build-up before featuring in a four-nation invitational tournament in Panama, where they played goaless draw with Panama and lost two games, 2-0 to Portugal and 4-1 to Mexico.
They are solid in defence and with the right service from midfield, they can run up the scores against the other teams.

My brother .The "sibling jealousy" is being carried too far in Nigeria - churches now have minaret -like structures piercing the sky lines.We have full pledge Christian pilgrims board with pilgrimage training and everything , if we actually have Islamic banking we will surely get The Bank of Christ PLc, we will have the Supreme Council of Christian affairs as my fellow NLander has alrady pointed out the uniqueness of the word SUPREME and should it be left to muslims alone? Many of my Christian colleagues now pray 5 times a day in congregation (at least) to ensure parity. I would urge the muslims to get even in other areas -The Christian brothers have high sounding and important positions such as THE ARCH BISHOP, DIOCESE, THe RIGHT REVEREND, CARDINAL, PALM SUNDAYetc . The Muslims must agitate to get some of these high sounding positions and places.
My Christian collegues should not forget that the Sultan (an office which should be rotated according to zones using the PDP formula - as we dont want to reinvent the wheel - has been in the criminal north for 2000 years!). The Sultan as I was saying will in the next few days be on National TV announcing the commencement of Ramadan, but why? why? why ? when christian fast even for longer period - LENT is 40 days , a good 10 days longer that the muslims Ramadan. . i think Nigeria is just begining to know what it is made up of haven stood alone as an entity for the past 50 yrs.
Most of us have failed to realise due to our sentimental ideolgy which an average Nigerian is known for, that there is a clear diffrence between tribe and religion, and also sectionalism in a gathering.
When you see an hausa man killing for what so ever reason he has given, most christains are quick at taging it as an islamic act, but when cardinals of catholic are caugth in the act od man-lover or Same-sex, or when pastor king was caught seting his members ablaze as his own understanding of hell no body not even a muslim made up something special out of it. It may be true that most nothern Muslims are very aggressive, but its also a fact that all christians allways prove to aggrive or intimadate an average muslim.
Now if we say Nigeria should split, it would be on what bases, Religion or Tribe.
If Religion, what would we do about the northern christains or the southern muslims. An average southerner is calm regardless or religion while an average northerner is cruel regardless of religion. We only hear more form the northern muslims cos they are the majority.
We dont xperience any form of religious violence here in the south where the population of both religion is almost the same not because we are hypocrites but because we have better understanding of what the religions teach.
But it would be very bad if the christains begin to call the muslims all sort of names and show high level intimidation, this could cause more harm than good. And remeber never think one religion is better than the other, no matter your faith or scripture, neva be certain, certaintty comes on the last day, when there would be no opportunity for a change. God is not Static.

He said the christians can separate from Nigeria, meaning the south can go, because of islamic bankng! Does he know dat south also have a good number of muslims?
When an hausa/fulani says, 'we muslims' they simply mean 'we hausa/fulanis', because they are 99.9% muslim.

Haba, it is the sign of times. Every major church north of the Niger is guarded by armed security agents. Passed MFM in Utako, Abuja last sunday and there were Army chaps with full battle gear. Churches have begun to erect barricades around their premises in volatile areas and some are installing blast doors. If the government and churches can go this length to protect lives and property what makes the leaders of these churches who are confirmed targets any different.

That picture was taken in Jos not too long ago and you need to be a christian going to church on sunday in any state in the north to understand, unfortunately most of us don't. The threat is real. Many churches have been burnt, many lives lost including those of pastors and other leaders and here we are making mockery and trivializing the serious religious divisions and challenges we confront these days.

When the sceptre moves against the Christians you are free to change your faith and name. You can be sure Adeboye won't be the first. No everything is trivial or a joke. The other side is real and serious.

I do not agree with u on that GEJ not saying any thing. He is our leader, it is his job to come out and address the problem of insecurity. He should give his view on the banking.
