10.U J ESUENE
Brigadier Udoakaha Jacob Esuene (1936 –
1993) was a Nigerian air force officer who was
Military Governor of South-Eastern State (later
renamed Cross River State ) between May 1967
and July 1975 during the military regime of
General Yakubu Gowon . He was the first
governor after the state was formed in May
1967 when Eastern Region was split into East-
Central State , Rivers State and South-Eastern
states. [1]
Esuene, who was of Ibibio ethnicity, was a
fighter pilot before being appointed governor of
South-Eastern State. [2][3] Esuene was
dismissed by General Murtala Muhammed
when he seized power in July 1975, was
charged and found guilt of illegally enriching
himself while in office, and was dismissed from
the military. [4] The dismissal was however
reversed by the Armed Forces Ruling Council
led by the then Military President; General
Ibrahim Babaginda. General Esuene's rank and
benefits were restored and backdated to
1975.

9. justice udo udoma
Sir Egbert Udo Udoma (21 June 1917 – 2
February 1998) [1] was a lawyer and justice of
the Nigerian Supreme Court. He was Chief
Justice of Uganda from 1963 to 1969. He
spent 13 years as a judge on the Supreme
Court of Nigeria and was chairman of the
Constituent Assembly from 1977 to 1978. He
was one of the founding fathers of Nigeria.
Life
He was born in the Ibibio area of Akwa Ibom
State and attended Methodist College,
Uzuakoli. After completing his secondary
education, he proceeded abroad to study at
Trinity College, Dublin (TCD) with the support
of his community and the Ibibio Union, an
organization which he later led. At TCD, he
served as President of the University
Philosophical Society , the student debating
society. He later earned a postgraduate degree
at Oxford University.
He returned to Nigeria to practise law in the
mid-1940s, but became intrigued and moved
by the nationalistic politics of the time. At the
time, Nigeria was attracting returning
emigrants who had left previously. [2] He joined
the National Council of Nigeria and the
Cameroons early on, but left the party
following a crisis in the former Eastern Region
that saw the removal of Eyo Ita, a Calabar
man, from office as the leader of the Eastern
Region by Azikiwe. From 1953 to 1959, Udo
Udoma was a member of the federal House of
Representatives, under the platform of the
United National Independence Party , then he
was a leading proponent for the creation of a
Calabar/Ogoja/Rivers state. However, his
failure to succeed in the creation of an
independent region or state in south-eastern
Nigeria, and the triumph of the three major
regions at a constitutional conference in 1958,
led him to concede politics to the dominant
parties. [2] He spent four years as a high court
judge before he was appointed Chief Justice in
Uganda.
He also belonged to the group that
championed Nigerian independence from
Britain and was one of the founding fathers of
Nigeria. He died at the age of 80 on 2 February
1998.

8 General philip EFfiong
Early life
Born in Ibiono Ibom in present-day Akwa Ibom
State, Nigeria , on 18 November 1925, Philip
Effiong joined the Nigerian Armed Services on
28 July 1945. He quickly rose through the
service ranks until on 11 January 1956 he
received the Queen's Commission after his
officer cadet training at Eaton Hall in Chester.
England later commissioned him for duty in the
Rhine in West Germany . He was then
transferred to the Nigerian Army Ordnance
Corps and then to England for further training
after a peace-keeping stint in the Republic of
Congo in 1961. He was Nigeria's first Director
of Ordnance. He had a son who was named
after him.
Biafra
Efiong became Chief of General Staff of Biafra
under Head of State, Odumegwu Ojukwu during
the Nigeria-Biafra war.
The tactics of the Nigerian military during the
war included economic blockade and deliberate
destruction of agricultural land. Even before
the war, the area was net importer of food,
depending on income from its oil fields to feed
its populace.
With the blockade cutting off oil revenue and
agricultural destruction reducing food
production, the result was mass dislocation
and starvation of the populace. Two to three
million people are thought to have died in the
conflict, mostly through starvation and illness.
When Biafra's military resistance collapsed,
Ojukwu fled to Côte d'Ivoire .
Efiong assumed leadership in this situation of
turmoil, starvation, and collapse. He became
Head of State of Biafra on 8 January 1970 and
on 12 January announced surrender. [1]
At the time of the surrender, Efiong believed
that the situation was hopeless and that
prolonging the conflict would have led only to
the further destruction and starvation of the
people of Biafra. At that time Effiong said, "I
am convinced now that a stop must be put to
the bloodshed which is going on as a result of
the war. I am also convinced that the suffering
of our people must be brought to an
immediate end." [1]
Nnaemeka L. Aneke wrote, "General Efiong’s
handling of Biafra’s surrender is one of the
most tactical and devoted maneuvers ever
seen on the Nigerian scene. Those who do not
appreciate the depth of it may not have
appreciated what was at stake as Biafra
capitulated." [2] Many observers had expected
wholesale retribution at war's end.
Later life
In a 1996 interview, Effiong reflected on those
events:
I have no regrets whatsoever of my
involvement in Biafra or the role I played.
The war deprived me of my property,
dignity, my name. Yet, I saved so many
souls on both sides and by this, I mean
Biafra and Nigeria. . . .
I felt that I played a role which has kept
this country united till today. . . .
At the end of it all when I saw they (Biafran
soldiers) could no longer continue and
Ojukwu had fled, I did what was ideal after
wide consultation . . . [2]
Efiong died 6 November 2003, at the age of 78
less than two weeks before his 79th birthday.

on 11 July 1947 at Mbak in Akwa Ibom State. He
had his early education in Uyo after which he
worked briefly with the Voice of Nigeria (VON), as
a Studio Manager. He enlisted into the NAF as a
potential pilot on 1 August 1968.
Air Marshal Eduok had his initial military training
at the Nigerian Defence Academy after which he
went for primary flying training in 1970. On
completion of his primary training, he undertook
the Basic Flying Training Course in 1971. He
emerged as the best-all-round student pilot in
both phases. He was commissioned Second

the then Czechoslovakia. In 1991, he was at the
USAF Air War College from where he graduated in
1992. As a combat pilot, he flew several aircraft
types in Nigeria and overseas. Among these are
the L-29, the L-39, the MiG 15 and 17, the MiG
21 and the MB-339. He also served in various
capacities in several units within the NAF. He was
the first Operations Officer of the Strike Group,

Commanding Officer, NAF Station Enugu, and the
first Commander of the 75 Fighter Squadron. He
commanded the 301 and 303 Flying Training
Schools at Kaduna and Kano respectively, as well
as the NAF Stations in Makurdi and Kainji.
Between 1986 and 1987, he served as a Directing

the appointment was reversed a week later by the
then military government. On 6 September 1994,

Council (PRC). On 20 March 1995, he was
appointed a member of the Federal Executive
Council as Honourable Minister for Aviation. He
was in this position till his reappointment as CAS
on 30 March 1996.

7. SAM EWANG
Group Captain Sam Ewang was appointed
Military Administrator of Ogun State , Nigeria
from August 1996 to August 1998 during the
military regime of General Sani Abacha , and
then Administrator of Rivers State until May
1999 handing over power to the elected
governor Peter Odili at the start of the Nigerian
Fourth Republic .[1]
Ewang ran for governor of Akwa Ibom in April
2007 on the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP)
platform. After the election he accused the
People's Democratic Party PDP and
Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) of rigging the results. [2] In November

4 VINCENT ENYEAMA
Vincent Enyeama (born 29 August 1982) is a
Nigerian football goalkeeper. Since 2002, he
has played for the national team of Nigeria . He
currently plays for Lille OSC who he signed for
in June 2011.
During the 2013–14 Ligue 1 season, club
manager René Girard picked Enyeama as his
first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Steeve Elana,
who had been the first-choice goalkeeper when
Rudi Garcia was the club manager. With the
help of his two centre-backs, Marko Baša and
Simon Kjær, Enyeama kept 11 consecutive
clean sheets in Ligue 1 matches during the
first half of the season. On 8 December 2013,
Enyeama finally conceded a goal after playing
1,062 minutes of Ligue 1 football in an away
match against Bordeaux, during which he was
beaten by Landry N'Guémo 's deflected strike
in the 27th minute. He thus came within 114
minutes of equalling Gaëtan Huard 's Ligue 1
goalkeeping record, set in 1993, of playing
1,176 minutes without conceding a goal. [5]
International career
After making his debut for the Nigeria national
football team against Kenya in May 2002, [6]
Enyeama was selected for the 2002 FIFA World
Cup as a cover for Ike Shorunmu. He made his
competitive debut in that tournament, keeping
a clean sheet against England in the third
group match. Since the retirement of
Shorunmu, he has been the first-choice
goalkeeper for the national team, helping the
Super Eagles to third place finishes in the
2004 , 2006 , 2010 Africa Cup of Nations
tournaments, and captaining the team to
victory of in the 2013 edition. He has also
participated in the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World
Cups , and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup .
[6]
In the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, Enyeama
stopped three kicks in the quarter-final penalty
shootout against Tunisia , but could not
prevent a loss to Côte d'Ivoire in the semi-
final. In the 2010 tournament, he was again
Nigeria's shootout hero at the quarter-final
stage, saving from Zambia's Thomas Nyrienda
and scoring the winning kick himself.[7]
Enyeama made his second FIFA World Cup
participation in the 2010 tournament in South
Africa. In Nigeria's opening match, he was
named man of the match, producing a defiant
display to restrict Argentina to a 1–0 win.
Enyeama, who was playing his 56th
international for the Super Eagles, made six
fine saves against the two-time world
champions, four of them from Lionel Messi .
Argentine coach Diego Maradona praised him
as the reason Messi not able to score a goal.
Enyeama was also awarded man of the match
in the team's next fixture, a 2–1 loss to
Greece , but was at fault for Vasilis Torosidis '
winning goal. [8]
At the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, Enyeama
deputised for regular captain Joseph Yobo ,
who stayed on the bench for most of the
competition. [6] On 10 February, Enyeama led
Nigeria to its third continental victory, keeping
a clean sheet in a 1–0 defeat of Burkina Faso
in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Final. He
was named to the team of the tournament as
first choice goalkeeper, conceding only four
goals in six matches. [9]
In June 2014, Enyeama was named in
Nigeria's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
[10] In the Super Eagles' first fixture, he kept
the second FIFA World Cup clean sheet of his
career as the team drew 0–0 with Iran. [11] He
subsequently recorded a second consecutive
shutout in the fixture against Bosnia and
Herzegovina , a 1–0 win which gave Nigeria its
first win at the tournament since the 1998
edition .[12] He conceded three goals in the last
match of the first round against Argentina, a
game which ended in a 3–2 defeat for Nigeria,
placing them second in the group and thus
qualifying them for the second round for the
first time in 16 years.

5 ROSE BARKLEY
Midfielder Ross Barkley has emerged as another
fine prospect from the Everton conveyor belt.
It turns out the youngster, who has represented
England at Under-16, -17, -19 and -21 levels, is
eligible for Nigeria.
Barkley himself revealed this in a ‘Player Focus’
interview with Everton's official website, saying
he was eligible for Nigeria, in addition to
England.
KickOffNigeria.com understands that Barkley's
eligibility comes through his father, Peter
Effanga.
Effanga lives in Liverpool where he works at the
Getrag Ford Transmission plant.
But a strained relationship with his father meant
the youngster took his mother's surname of
Barkley.
Despite admitting his eligibility for Nigeria,
KickOffNigeria.com understands that Barkley,
who has never been to Nigeria, is fully focused
on representing England at full international level.

2. Ini edo
Iniobong Edo Ekim born on April 23rd, 1982 hails
from Akwa Ibom. The actress who is popularly
known as Ini Edo is among the top actresses in
Nollywood ( the Nigerian film industry). Her very
first film was “Thick Madam” (2003). She has
featured in over a 100 films, just 30 in 2007 alone.
Although she loves acting, has acted since she
was a child in church and at school, and even
though she studied theatre arts at the University
of Uyo, she did not see herself becoming an
actress! She was thinking of going into law or
television. Nollywood at that point had not yet
taken off. But one thing led to another and she
found herself acting in a film. Both she and others
were pleased with how well she did.
Well, her father was not so pleased, not at first.
He wanted her to get her degree first. And
besides, she was just 19 at the time, a young
woman. To become a film actress meant going to
a city far away where she knew no one. He was
afraid people would take advantage of her. But it
all turned out well in the end: a film director saw
her talent and took her under his wing and looked
out for her like a father. And she did get her
degree too, from the University of Calabar, though
it was not easy to balance acting with her
studies.
Some actresses feel like they have to sleep with
the producer to get ahead. She thinks that does
not work in the long run, not as well as hard work
and talent. Men came on to her all the time when
she was single, but she did not let them turn

3. liz benson
Elizabeth Benson Liz, popularly known as Liz
Benson, began acting when she was just a kid.
Her journey to stardom began when she
appeared on the set of the popular television
soap opera, Fortunes in 1993. Liz Benson
played the part of Mrs. Agnes Johnson in the
soap, which ran for about two years on
the Nigerian Television Authority network.In
1994, her role in Glamour Girls, a very
successful home video film that focused on the
theme of prostitution, literally changed her
fortune after Fortunes. The movie shot her into
prominence and gradually she warmed her way
into the minds of millions of Nigerian movie
fans. Surprisingly, just when her rating as a
leading actress had begun to rise even higher
than expected, Benson suddenly quit acting in
1996. She became a born-again Christian and
started preaching the gospel. The Efik-born
actress, took another shot at marriage after
her conversion. In a quiet court ceremony in
Abuja , She got married to Bishop Great Emeya
in 2009 at the Rainbow Christian Assembly in
Warri , Delta State . [1] The couple are deeply
involved in a Christian evangelical ministry.
While Benson is an evangelist, her husband,
Emeya, is a pastor in Warri, Delta State. [2]
Liz lost her husband (Samuel Gabriel Etim)
while around her mid-twenties. Liz said that
she actually gained strength from his character
and that made her be able to carry her and
her kids through the loss.
She started acting when she was five years
old. She is loved by most movie watchers in
Nigeria and is seen as one of the first ladies of
Nollywood
Some of her more popular roles include her
role as Titubi in Femi Osofisan 's Morountodun
and as Mrs. Agnes Johnson in Fortunes , a
soap opera that ran for about two years on
Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Channel
10. She acted in a number of Nollywood video-
films such as Evil Men 1 and 2, Shame ,
Conspiracy, Izaga, Burden , Stolen Child , Faces ,
Dead End , Tycoon, Glamour Girls, Body of
Vengeance and a horde of other movies.

Peter rose to prominence as a professional

HEART OF GOLD
It is in the areas of business and positive
contribution to society that Uche has made the
greatest landmark. He is a very successful
entrepreneur and businessman with a heart of
gold. His belief in the Nigerian economy is strong
and unequivocal. This belief informed his
decision to make an investment (Masters Energy
City) worth tens of billions of Naira in Port
Harcourt at a time when most companies were
running away from Niger Delta region because of
security challenges. That single investment, a
158,000 Metric Tonnes petroleum products
storage facility, has helped in no small measure
in the stabilization of petroleum products
availability and affordability in the whole of
South-South, South-East and North-East and
provided direct employment to over 600 citizens
of the Niger Delta region in the spirit of Federal
Government’s rehabilitation programme and over
4,000 ancillary employments.
MASSIVE FORAYS INTO ABIA
In December 2011, the Executive Governor of
Abia State, His Excellency, Chief Theodore A.
Orji, laid the foundation stone of Masters Energy
Industrial City in Uturu, Isikwuato Local
Government for various projects in the area. This
multi-billion naira integrated industrial complex
on completion is expected to grow the economy
of Abia State because of the high number of
businesspersons it would attract from across the
African continent.
A PHILANTHROPIC COLOSSUS
Asides all these, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah stands
like a colossus in the area of philanthropy. He
has single-handedly provided electricity for
villages, changed the landscape of a whole
village by building prototypal houses and offered
free medical services for citizens of the
community. In addition to this, he built and
equipped the modern hospitals in his native
Uturu community in Isikwuato Local Government
of Abia State and has offered scholarships to
both primary and secondary students in the
same community since 2006. Uche has also
partnered Hopeville Rehabilitation Centre, Uturu
for fabrication of Prosthetesis (Artifical limbs) or
Orthosis (Calipers) for so many disabled
persons. These are in addition to sponsoring
many people to India for various medical issues.
The humanitarian and philanthropic disposition
of Uche was taken to a higher level when he
established a foundation in December 2011, the
Uche Ogah Foundation which is primarily for
empowerment, poverty alleviation and providing
education and has empowered many in their
various fields. He also instituted a chair at the
Abia State University and is building an
auditorium in the same university.

innoson, dangote and many others wealth creator never had a degree before pursuing their dreams.
most of them like dangote later had d degrees after achieving their goals.

i've u ever seen a vehicle mechanic ,carpenters, etc, who were the best during their days learning d act/skills searching for jobs?
never will u see.

SportsRe: Kelechi Iheanacho Makes Manchester City US Tour Team List by Itoroetti(m): 5:55pm On Jul 21, 2014
jotey: guy talents are different.. iheanacho is more talented than Mikel..he won't fade if he has passion for football.. Mikel no gt passion for ball he is not thinking of improvement
iheancho plays 10,now man city are pushing him to a strikers position, how are we sure he can operate as a striker?the fact that he scored 5goals in d u17 doesnt mean he should be converted to a striker.

the same thing happened to mikel.
mikel was a very complete no10 in both u 17 in 2003 and wyc in 2005,chelsea converted him to a defensive position just becos he was heavily built and was strong.
to me,i prefer iheancho plays in his preferred role
