My apologies for the language. We Nigerians do everything to the extreme and it touches me. Imagine someone is already anticipating spamming the thread. Tomorrow is Wednesday, you'll have the opportunity. But I suggest you simply like/share to make it easy to find useful information.
ans123: It appears the thread is slow these last few days.....praying for many more PPR announcements IJN.
So you could spam the thread with silly "congratulations" messages? As much as we're happy for all successful applicants, a like/share is enough to express this happiness. Unless you have a follow-up question to the shared "testimony", stop spamming the thread with shitty congratulations messages.
Pls i need help on my ECA..Have anyone evaluate his/her credential with ICES ? Secondly i heard ICES dont evaluate WAEC.is it true?.please i need help on this thanks
sistaj: COPR received. First ppr letter -july 16th. Address can always be updated and letting them know address of other applicants is a good one too.Remember it is a requirement to notify cic of any address change.
What an experience. I don't know how I would have remain sane experiencing those back and forth, helter skelter things. Kudos. One question I would like to ask, did you have to request new PCC after your address changed? That is my biggest dilemma right now.
It was a "To Whom it may concern " letter, stating when I joined the company and the position I'm currently holding. Didn't state roles and responsibilities. It was actually meant for another company but I just used it for my application.... NB: I also THINK that if your company has online presence and a reachable HR it's easier.
I appreciate your response. This clearly shows that the whole process is not in plain black and white after all, the VO also uses their discretion rather than simply follow a rule book. I'll keep my application simple and not find what's not lost
Kwado87: I submitted my passport to VFS on the 12th of August. Give&Take it might take a month or less to get your passports back. From my search for flights the cheapest I've seen so far is Ethiopian Airlines. I also plan to leave last week in September.
Guitarlife: Do you work in a bank ? Well I do, and this is a criminal and culpable offence. The bank has to keep its oath of secrecy and can only reveal account information to third party like Efcc upon the presentation of court documents to that effect.
Wait are you alledging that the US embassy is going behind doors to verify applicants account ?Its an illegal thing to do and am sure the US embassy cannot stoop that low.
Maybe they also get a court injunction, but I have never heard of that.
I also find that difficult to believe. The United States embassy would not engage in that illegality. They are smart enough to catch cheats who borrow money for PoF or used fake documents. One of the method they could use is to ask your bank to confirm the information in the bank statement you have provided. For example, they may ask "can you please confirm if the balance in this account as at 8 August is 17 million Naira"? Simple yes or no questions from the information you've provided to egich you also signed a declaration that they can verify but nothing beyond.
einsteino: We cant be too sure. Here is another friend's report, this time with U.S embassy. I'd just say we should do our best to keep the POF, it's better to be careful than sorry. Moreso, we should remember one can get ADR for POF at anytime.
If the information in that screenshot is true then that bank must be avoided like a leper's colony. Please confirm the name of the bank and inform us here, they are very unprofessional. A bank where it's staff break protocols to divulg such personal information to a third party will have a staff that will probably wipe your account clean.
doncorleone: Wow very informative. I realized I did a fixed deposit 3 weeks before AOR, but I did not put source of where the money came from. Will that be an issue?
I really don't know how to advise you in this regard. I see two options, one is to raise a CSE but that doesn't seem to fit into the category on this website https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx Second option would be to patiently wait. Others who have been in this situation should be able to help you better.
Newmum0615: @Itsawonder I think this tirade is enough. We encourage sharing information here. But while we do that, we also advise that people refrain from sharing wrong information. If anyone wants to post any information here, you are either posting the source or using phrases like 'I think', 'maybe' etc to show that you are not giving that information from a place of authority. While you have the right to respond to questions in your capacity as a member of this thread, please be courteous in the way you reply the posts of people whose stance differ from yours and if you are not sure, please don't post with confidence. So many people rely on this thread for practical information. I don't respond to posts when I am not sure of the answer to provide. Nobody is grading us for providing the most answers. So many people have used NYSC teaching experience without having a degree in education or or even anything related to the subjects they teach in school. How do think people that have relied on their NYSC teaching experience have been able to scale through? Or do you think that IRCC did not see my Engineering degree and finance experience before they gave me PPR? If it makes you feel any better, I personally know a couple of people who did not have a degree in education but used their NYSC teaching experience and scaled through. I handle JDs of people on a daily basis, so I think I can speak with a little bit of authority when I say that your degree and your work experience do not have to match for you to be eligible. Save for practicing doctors, lawyers, pharmacists and some other fields of specialization, your application will not be refused simply because you studied mass communication in the university and you are working as a cash officer in a bank. Until someone comes to post here that his EE/FSW application was refused because he studied Mechanical Engineering and used a teaching experience, we will continue to believe that you can apply as a teacher without having a B.Ed or PGDE. It is worthy to note however, that if one is going through PNP, some provinces will require that your course of study and experience match. An example is SINP. And in such cases, you may not be able to claim teaching experience without a degree or qualification in education or something related. Abeg make we end this matter. This thread has just been all over the place today. Una good night.
Newmum0615: Will whatever I post here make any more sense than what everyone else has been saying? You are our teacher today, we are your students. We are reading. Continue your lectures.
Never mind, just to confirm your take on it and I get it.
Godisincontrol: It's obvious you have issues comprehending what you read
It's not 'a fighting something' Mr Comprehender. This is a public forum and all opinions are welcomed. If you have a problem with that it's certain you have problems with many other things in life and I'm not the architect of your misfortunes, please spare me.
nnamdiokere45: my sis is currently in canada. She never had a qualification in what she applied for but the duties matched. Initially, when i started this journey, i also saw the employment criteria. I draw her attention to it and she told me that it doesn't matter, and she is a clear example of it. That i should make sure d duties match
Certain NOCs require specific requirements, early child educators being one of them. Teaching qualification/education degree is clearly stated as a specific requirement for primary and secondary school teachers. Post secondary school teachers however are exempted from this requirement. Like you've rightly said, your qualifications and job duties don't need to match. But you need to meet the basic requirements stated against your NOC.
Oakville19: You are standing firmly on this table you are shaking.
I've read every single post on this thread from part 1, including the annoying congratulations spams and instant messages between some individuals here. I've also read posts on other forum and downloaded ALL gcms notes available online and searchable by Google to understand how IRCC works after I've asked questions here that nobody could provide answers to. However we're humans and can still make mistakes. If you think the information I've provided is wrong research it and come back here with evidence. That way we all learn.
veritas3: @itsawonder....I wonder where you are getting ur half -baked advise/knowledge from.
Please share your full -baked advise/knowledge with source to verify. I think I understand what the problem is with most people who come here. They have a question, they also have a supposed answer and now wants someone to give them a response that confirms this "answer" so they can feel good.
jholarharde: sir, from what I have read here, I believe your course of study does not need to be the same with your employment for you to apply, (An emphatic yes!)
and your screenshot is for employment requirements in Canada I think (No, you "think" wrongly)
. so she can go ahead and claim points for elementary teacher. my take
No she can't. But which one is my own?
@newmum0615 I see you're online. Please respond to this before they waste their time and money.
Newmum0615: The way some of y'all share wrong info here these days. All I do when I read is:
Good enough for Nairaland, it is not liable for any wrong information provided. Thwt notwithstanding, people should research before posting and substantiate their claims with references if possible.
Godisincontrol: How does this infer she would need provincial nomination? She asked for advise and rather that, you digressed.
Una well done.
No, that was in response to this
exquisef: pls tell your friend to read page 1 @itsawonder is correct she still needs to meet the requirements of her noc. plus shes most likely going to get a nomination from a province for that NOC. it's not a requirement thou if she's claiming assistants part of it
Estac: That criteria is a criteria for you to secure a job in that NOC IN CANADA. My friend, as of now, has no intention to be a teacher in Canada. She wants to further her education as PR.
Estac: Thanks, but I think that it's been established here that your job experience doesn't necessarily have to relate to what you studied . By the way, the NOC in question is 4214- Early childhood educators and assistants. The lead statement matches her work experience.
Yes. But you still have to meet the criteria on whatever NOC you want to claim, in this case it's an education degree/qualification. Sorry for sounding judgemental.
exquisef: she needs to check the requirements of the noc she's claiming for
Exactly. And that isn't difficult to do, in fact it should be the first thing to do before spending money on IELTS and credential evaluation. But Nigerians being who we are want something "badly" but don't want to put in the required effort. My suggestion is that she considers NYSC or any post-graduation experience (paid or unpaid) of at least one year long and check relevant NOC to see if she meets its requirements
Estac: Hello house, your advise is really needed for a friend. She is a primary school teacher and has been since 2014. Only thing is, the school is owned by her mom. Her teaching started out with her helping her mom after she graduated from uni. It was supposed to be something to keep her busy pending when she gets a "good" job. Good job still hasn't come.
She was never really paid salary cos she still lives with her parents and they take care of her financial needs when necessary. She has a BSC and masters degree but non of the fields are related to teaching.
She has taught in her moms school for over 3 years and wants to claim experience as elementary school teacher (can't remember the NOC exactly). Her POF will be 100% gift from her mom.
The question is what is the best way to prove her work experience considering that she has never collected a salary. Will it prejudice her if her mother (as the owner of the school) signs her reference letter?
You candid recommendations are welcome.
[s]She has no teaching qualification obviously and can therefore not claim points for experience as an elementary school teacher[/s]. The least of her problem is the method at which her salary is paid.
I have done some digging and also got information from personal experience of people like @glisteringstar and conclude that the information above is wrong. Please see a quote from IRCC policy manual on this matter.
'The applicant does not need to demonstrate that they meet the “employment requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description'
