Zutlin: I believe your friend will be fine applying from Nigeria. I don't know about the UK. I also overstayed somewhere for about 2years. I was very concerned about my overstay but my research online and consultation with an immigration lawyer in Canada, shows it has no effect - so long you have no criminal record.
I'm 3 months post AOR. Received GCMS notes today and no mention of overstay.
Please tell them. It's not like anyone is encouraging overstay, but it's not the end of the road. Overstaying is not a crime that would reflect on PCC of any country in the world.
exquisef: please OVERSTAYING is a crime i dont think you should be making such comments here..... OVERSTAYING in any country is a crime. u dont know or have info on how pcc is conducted if they noticed you've overstayed
No need to go into definition of crime, what is and what's not. But I'm 100% certain that overstay will not be reported on PCC UK. You need to be prosecuted and convicted for that to happen.
Adaoh: that's another issue. but that PCC UK is the one he has to pray about. Cos I did PCC UK and I had to tell them where I had lived for the last 10 years in detail (including my UK address) @Compu001
Overstaying is not a crime itself. He'll be fine with PCC.
smslive2: Hello Sir, I am here to tell you that the bolded is not true! I know someone who had overstayed for 8years but just got married last December!
Call him lucky. A Jamaican man who already had 3 British children was deported on his wedding day after spending 8 years in the UK like this your man. Just watch first 3 mins.
bizguru000: Make he marry citizen..Thats his only way out
Unfortunately he can't do that now, it's too late for him as no registry will wed him. And if they agree to wed him/her, they will have to inform the Home Office who will be waiting for him at the wedding venue on their wedding day to pack him back to Nigeria. He could have a child though, that would strengthen his case but there's still no guarantee he won't be deported as he needs to file for a spouse visa outside UK because his previous leave to enter has expired for more than 90 days
Compu001: I understand that path. But yet, I want to be sure if the Canadian immigration will not capitalize on his abuse. He has overstayed for 3years
Compu001: Guys I have a technical question. I will be detail with it. I have a friend in the UK, he came in as a student but didn't go back to Nigeria,so his student visa expired. He want to get out of the system to Canada. Can he apply from UK If no, can he go back to Nigeria to apply?? If he go back to Nigeria, will they not capitaliz on his overstayed stuff in UK??. I just need ur advice, so has to advise him accordingly. Thanks
Your friend overstayed in the UK and now wants to get out? That depends on how long he has overstayed (less than 90 days have little or no consequences) or reasons for his overstay (medical, visa extension etc) https://www.freemovement.org.uk/overstaying-applying-leave/ To answer your question, we both know that this "your friend" has overstayed more than 90 days and he has no genuine reasons (other than economic reason) for doing so. This is a flagrant abuse of a previous immigration rules in another country which must be disclosed in travel history. Your friend cannot eat his cake and have it. He/she should return to Nigeria before submitting ITA. I believe the overstay could be overlooked if he returns and apply from Nigeria. By the way, what's he overstaying for in the UK, running like a cockroach, collecting payments by cash with employers undercutting him every now and then because they know he can't go to the police. He has no access to social services, even his bank account can be frozen at anytime so he's probably keeping money under the bed. If I were him I'll be home since tay tay.
happytbaby: Did you really have to type this response?
Yes. I asked a question that clearly does not solicit that response. Post the reference letter for what? Will he help the employer to draft a new letter?
Because I don't have 'lucrative, pensionable job" in Nigeria. Otherwise why would I leave all year round summer for all year round winter? It doesn't make any sense.
Thanks everyone for your contributions. But the question was not "how to write a reference letter", my former employer already did. The question however was - would an unprofessionally written work reference letter adversely affect my application? Posting it here is of no use.
Worried. Does a poorly written employer work reference letter (wrong punctuations, black and white letterhead) affect adversely? Other supporting documents are okay.
neni83: Hello everyone, Please has anyone had an issue on a wrong date of birth printed on their degree transcript? I will need help on how they were able to resolve this please,as this affects my ECA from WES, and WES is saying I should get in touch with d Sch to send a revised transcript with the correct date of birth...
dandy00: Please is it now compulsory to Add WAEC certificate before Bsc or Msc can be evaluated?..
Only WES require WAEC verification. You could verify only your highest qualification and skip WAEC if you try other evaluation agencies. Refer to previous posts by Shyee
Ifeoma77: It's not a false claim, take a walk to the 'give birth in USA' thread right here on Nairaland, for most airlines it's 36 weeks. My colleague in the office flew BA at 35 weeks and a family friend flew Air France at close to 34 weeks. A simple visit to the airlines' website will provide the info you need. No need for quarells
I know some airlines accepts pregnancy at more than 36 weeks but that is mostly with restrictions like asking you to carry a doctor's note/certificate. On the other hand, there are no restrictions for pregnant women to fly at less than 28 weeks. It is therefore safe to say 28 weeks is the maximum time allowed to fly on all airlines without restrictions. Thanks for your contribution. I hope my sister who asked this question is now better informed.
Elfmannisback: Bwahahshaha... Go and force her to dig out ur concerns. Na age we dey talk here? How u think that ECA report is mine beats me... I did info tech, bro.
Itsawonder: Congratulations Kwado, what a speedy PPR, it's a wonder!
There's one thing I'll like to know please, how different is your work experience reference letter from the so called CIC format? Missing anything or adding more details? That might have made a difference. I look forward to your response.
Still waiting for your response @kwado87. Your input will help a lot of people to avoid call for interview like @Jaytam case above because of concerns from reference letters.
My apologies everyone, I think I must have misled some people regarding the so called minimum IELTS score. I have played around with the CRS calculator and confirmed that an average applicant without sibling, job or previous study in Canada or a Canadian spouse would need a minimum of 7 in each section of IELTS skills tested to get a decent score for ITA. LRSW 8777 indeed is a magic number. If the bolded does not apply to you, you will have to meet at least that magic number please.
Tee248490: Hi everyone, please can both the husband and wife have a profile in the EE pool? To be precise, the wife has been the PA all the while but based on recent developments, the husband as the PA will take their score to 474 from 436. So they intend to create his profile with him as the PA. Is there any issue with this?
I would advise that you delete the wife's profile and create a new profile with the hubby as PA. It's unlikely to get an invitation any time soon anyway. Meanwhile, CRS of 474 with hubby as PA is guaranteed ITA in next draw. Why keep both?
I need not say how devastated I am over reading. What do you guys suggest please? Is there any hope reading will change to 7.0 if I apply for a remark?
See what the so called "minimum score" has caused. This IELTS is good to go if you get over 440 in CRS calculator.
newbie18: Congratulations on this result. It is very good. You have surpassed the minimum of 8777 in LRWS. Please tell PA to hurry up and write so you can jump into the pool.
8777 is not the minimum score. Stop misleading people
Congratulations Kwado, what a speedy PPR, it's a wonder!

Kwado87: GRACE FOUND ME I will worship Him forever, Love Him forever, This God is too good oo (Nathaniel Bassey)
I discovered this family after I had already submitted my application......
This journey started in earnest December 2017. FAMILY OF 4 Got the magic IELTS score April 21 sitting LSWR. 8.5,7.5,7,8.5. Updated my profile May 13th, CRS 466.
ITA... MAY 23RD AOR.....JULY 3RD MEP/IP1.....JULY 18TH IP2.......... AUGUST 7TH PPR..... AUGUST 9TH
Before I submitted my application, I told God that my case MUST be different. What took others 6months will take me maximum 6 weeks( He even exceeded my expectations) cos my rent expires in September. I stood on Jeremiah 1:11- 12 (I see a speedy ppr, and He will hasten His word and perform it.) & Luke 18:27...(my desire is possible with God)..... Focused on praying for God's kingdom alone while believing...Matt 6:33.. Pardon my sermon .....but JESUS IS LORD
POF:- I used a notarized copy of deed of sale agreement only, bank statement and reference letter. An LOE explaining one of the huge payment into my account......
WORK EXPERIENCE.....just used a general "to whom it may concern" reference letter from company not in "cic format". No payslip or any other document.
Lessons Learned... 1. FAITH WORKS!! 2. Make ur application as simple as possible 3. Your application is different.
