Politics / Re: A Sweet Wind Of Change Is Blowing In Nigeria! by Itse(f): 2:23pm On Nov 04, 2007
Nigeria will be great, and the sweet wind of change is already blowing; rather than argue back and forth politically and otherwise, why don't we ALL try to key into that change that has begun and in our own little corners contribute to Nigeria becoming great, be it through stopping corruption on whatever level we encounter it, giving our best in school, at work irrespective of what someone else is doing, becoming people of integrity and living with purpose and focus which seeks to leave a legacy behind long after we are gone, with our names forever written in the sands of time as people who contributed to Nigeria stepping up to take her place as a Great Nation.
Religion / Re: Is It Biblical For Christian Women To Wear Trousers? by Itse(f): 10:53pm On May 30, 2007
The aim of this question goes a long way to determine what answer you receive. IN the biblical sense trouser is not expressly mentioned, in the implied terms i'd say a woman can wear trousers,
From that verse what i understand it that a woman should not wear what pertains to a man, like me taking my male cousin's t-shirt and using it as a nite wear, ok.
This is one of those controversial aspects of the bible which make us lose focus on what is important such as: Right standing with GOd, in that you've accepted the invitation Jesus gave when He died on the cross to Boldly come into His presence through His blood, by acknowledging your sins, asking for forgiveness, reconciling yourself to HIm by believing He is the Son of God and confessing same with your mouth, and that the life you live is no longer for your pleasure but for the fulfillment of the purpose of God for which you have been created uniquely.
AS children under grace, we have been admonished by Paul to dress modestly, but not putting all emphasis on our outward appearance (its nice to look good, actually good, but should not be the basis of who we are) but taking time to nuture and build our character ( gentle spirit, meek, the fruit of the Spirit is, ), cause at the end of the day-- its all we really have left, when we are old and gray!
Religion / Re: Interfaith Marriages? by Itse(f): 10:34pm On May 30, 2007
My personal opinon is this: i wont marry someone of a faith different from mine, because i firmly believe in the question: can two walk together except they be agreed.
I wont say marrying the came faith is a sure walk to a lasting marriage, it helps but you still need to walk hard at it,
Religion / Re: Who is your Favorite Popular Pastor or Preacher in Nigeria? by Itse(f): 10:06pm On May 30, 2007
My favourite Pasto is Pastor Nkechi Ene of the Carpenter's Church, Port Harcourt. She is loaded in the Word, a good teacher at that, she is the assistant pastor of our church

Nairaland / General / Re: What Makes You Special? by Itse(f): 10:11pm On May 28, 2007
What makes me special?
I am special cause i am ORIGINAL, made after God heart, displaying one of His many traits,
Am special cause no one laughs like me, looks like me, talks like me, walks like me and does anything like me,
Its the way i laugh at silly things, spy God in everything and circumstances,
My names that all mean the same thing, jus said in 3 different ways,
Cause God was thinking when He made me,
Am special, yes special cause God made me that way.
Family / Re: Prenuptial Agreements by Itse(f): 9:58pm On May 28, 2007
The idea behind prenup in Nigeria is for the protection of women, in the event of the marriage crashing, over the years women in Nig have been on the receiving end of marriage break ups. Though it shows lack in believe of lifetime span, it helps to see that women dont get throw out with nothing, It makes her aware of legal protection she can cover herself with.

Personally, i wont do a prenup, but i wont dismiss it altogether, it jus might help a woman get a soft landing, if things get really rough!

@Dukelord what it actually shows is: mass rigging! And that PDP is really good at, it got them into power in 1999, 2003, and now 2007.

From INEC report Delta is PDP, but from the AIT reports on ground, as at 6pm voting was still taking place, cause the materials arrived late on saturday, and votes where still coming in where they were compling the result, yet INEC had announced that PDP won.

Literature / Re: I Enjoy Christian Fiction by Itse(f): 11:05pm On Jan 06, 2007
Hey everyone,

I love Francine Rivers: the last sin eater is a great story, actually all her books are try and read them all. Frank Peretti is another author whose books have been an encouragement to me. I pair his writing style with that of Francine's.

For some unknown reason, i have not been able to bring myself to read Karen Kingsbury but all my friends like her books.

Michelle McKinney Hammond is another great writer, her books have singles as its target audience and in a good number of cases narrows down to single sisters, they are great books too.

A. W. Tozer's books inspire me because they where written like over 30 years ago (he died in 1963) and they apply like it was written for the now, try and read Born After Midnight, Tragedy in the church, or any or his works you see.

Then there is Joe L. Wheeler: he wrote heart to heart stories for dads, heart to heart stories for moms, heart to heart stories of friendship, here is an excerpt from the book 'heart to heart stories of friendship'

• Friendships cannot be taken for granted, not even the strongest ones. Upkeep is essential if they are to flourish. Our technological society affords many ways to retain friends when distance precludes personal interaction, such a phone calls, faxes, E-mail (more and more common). Sadly, many of us are physically removed from some of those we love most, so we must establish alternative methods of communication if we are not to lose their relationship. Some of the most meaningful and treasured relationships of my life have resulted from personal letters.
• Friendships cannot flourish without an element of mutual respect. Oddly enough, not even criminal relationships can outlast loss of respect.
• Beware the power of words! Many friendships have been lost because of loose lips. Sometimes the words are forgiven—but they are never forgotten! “Friends are made by many acts—and lost by one” (Sunshine Magazine, February 1958).
• A true friend will risk even the relationship itself rather than see the other hurt. How well I remember stepping in once when a friend was needlessly putting her reputation at risk. The immediate result was a noticeable cooling of our friendship, but the long-term result was that this friend is today one of the closet friends I have. Through the experience she learned that her personal success in life was more important to me than the friendship itself—and there can be no stronger friendship in life than one based on such mutual trust. Other friends have done the same for me.
• Few friendships can survive repeated acts of borrowing, for damage is likely to occur on both ends rather than one. The same is true for involving friends in business deals—I learned that particular lesson the hard way!
• Only in adversity do we learn who our true friends really are. It is said that a friend is the person who walks in when the rest of the world is walking out.
• A true friend brings out the best in us. Unquestionably, we become like our friends. We can achieve honor and respect by the choice of friends, or we lose both honor and respect by the wrong choice.
• Never has it been said better than Joseph Addison did: “Friendship doubles joy and divides grief”.
• Treasure most your old friends, those who have stood the test of time: “Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him: a new friend is as new wine; when it is old, thou shalt drink it with pleasure” (Sirach 9 : 10).

He compiled stories from different people some are true, while others are fiction. His books are tagged under the heading Focus on the Family.

Christian fiction are GREAT!!!!!

TV/Movies / Re: Nigerian TV vs. Foreign TV by Itse(f): 10:34pm On Jan 06, 2007
I would go for Foreign TV, South African or American.
For the things i enjoy on those TVs, Nigerian TV is yet to offer. Talk about: Discovery-Forensic Stuff, CNN-International News which is very vast, documentaries on various countries.

I do not do soaps for either TVs, i think they make one's brain dull. On movies i watch foreign mainly but can sit through a few Nigerian ones on bad day.

We can get to the standard which they are, we just do not have our priorities straight cause the money is available, what is done with it is the problem.
Literature / Re: What Is Your Favourite John Grisham's Novel by Itse(f): 10:27pm On Jan 06, 2007

But i really appreciate them, they are great novels.
Literature / Re: Do Nigerians Read? by Itse(f): 10:02pm On Jan 06, 2007
Let's be true to ourselves, Nigerians DO NOT HAVE A READING CULTURE!!!!!

When we talk about Nigerians reading, i believe it is not in the context of reading because you have to, but reading to increase your wealth of knowledge in diverse areas.
A good number of the Nigerian population do not read.

Take a survey of the poeple in your neighbourhood, when they talk about reading its limited to reading required while in school, or for a job promotion,
Besides that they still limit themselves when they do read newspapers to certain sections.

Try and find out how many Nigerians do read novels: fiction and non fiction, in the non fiction: history of nations, about the nature of plants animals.

You would be surprised, they would rather watch TV, than read, you can not substitute one for another.

That we have that label is not a 'white lie', but the reality on ground.

Do Nigerians Read?
I would say NO

Family / Re: About Your Parents by Itse(f): 9:14pm On Jan 03, 2007
My parents are great. I could not have asked for a better pair. They can be upsetting at times though, but all the same i love them dearly. If i could do it all over again, i'd still choose to have them as my parents.
