The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Custom Service, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) who confirmed the seizure said that the weapons were fearfully concealed in a 1×20 ft container.
He said that the weapons were discovered by custom officers who were carrying out 100% examination of the container. The syndicate that specialises in smuggling weapons into the country was also nabbed.
The weapons were brought from Turkey and concealed inside a container which Bill of Laden indicated it was conveying wash hand basins. Controller General of Customs, Col. Ahmeed Alli, disclosed that, already, a Customs officer suspected to have cut the seal of the container without following due process, as well as a clerk at the command had been arrested in connection with the discovery.

dragunov: So, if they get duped or rustled, the next thing to do is to start killing, right? Can 2 wrongs make a right? Besides, you are also a liar! Of course two wrongs do not make right; thats why the president is calling for a cessation to these reprisals and counter reprisals; while encouraging ppl settle their differences through the courts and law enforcement agencies. However, in reality the Fulani suffer and are vulnerable to exploitation due to their poor education and lack of exposure; they are often not taken seriously when they report such cases and are instead even taken advantage of by the police - of course, this is not to say there are no bad or evil ones amongst them. If we should also consider that the average price of a cow is easily up to 200k and therefore an ordinary herdsman with a few herds of cattle would easily be the equivalent of a walking millionaire in the bush then it is not too difficult to imagine why they are often attractive targets of such exploitation. Unfortunately, another reality is that whenever anyone fails to obtain justice, especially the Fulani with their culture of revenge; then the most likely option left for such person is to take the law into his hands - this is the basic problem behind the herdsmen vs farmer/community clashes; one side often fails to get justice and resorts to taking the law into their hands. Unless we can resolve this inequity; there will be no peace. . |

If anyone should watch carefully, you would notice that it was Kanu's IBOP militia armed with cutlasses, stick and stones who first attacked, they were stoning the NA personnel carrier even after it was retreating; before it returned fire - even so the enemy combatant was only shot in the leg without endangering his life.
Meanwhile I was expecting to see the albino miscreant coming out to challenge the army or send his boys to commence burning Nigeria.
Finally, let this be a warning to any doubter to note that NA is firing live bullets ( not blanks) and that anybody mad enough to volunteer himself for target practice is free to do so; next time they won't aiming at the leg but at the any dissenting insolent mouth. |

Politics › Re: It Is Unlawful For Anyone, Group To Take Revenge, Reprisal – Buhari by ItsMeAboki(m): 10:47am On Sep 10, 2017 |
I am slowly beginning to conclude that there is growing level of illiteracy among the children of hate infesting the Nairaland forum.
The story is quite straight forward: a small boy was killed and beheaded; the herdsmen from whom the boy came from took reprisal action against the community presumed responsible for the boy's murder.
The president waded in with a clear warning against reprisals, requesting any aggrieved person or group to register their complaints and allow the law enforcement agents do their work.
It should be evident to even the most imbecilic of brains that the president's was clearly directing his message to those taking reprisals, in this case the herdsmen who are notoriously known for their culture of revenge/reprisals.
Yet many; apparently blinded by hate and bigotry are completely twisting it around to mean that the president was taking side with the (Fulani) herdsmen - which evidently he was not.
Though I am not surprised since exam malpractice is very prevalent in that part of the country; its no wonder therefore that many of them cannot even comprehend the most basic of issues (as majority of their so called certificates were obtained fraudulently) you can easily identify these block-heads from their ignorant posts and illiterate language. |

UnchangeableGod: I thought your desire is to prove me wrong - that the president of our country, who made the famous quote 'I belong to everybody, I belong to nobody' is really not marginalizing any group. Of course, each of the Southeast States has a Minister according to constitutional requirements - Foreign Affairs (Enugu), Labour and Productivity (Anambra), Trade and Investment (Abia), Science and Technology (Ebonyi), Minister of State for Education (Imo) and the one given to Mr Joe Igbokwe (the Lagos State APC Spokesman). Aside that, there may be one or two other appointments (please I stand to be corrected). I make bold to say that the marginalization of the Igbos or the Southeast did not start today. They voted massively for former presidents Obasanjo and Yardua and what did they get compared to other major tribes? Yes, the CBN Governorship of Charles Soludo and the Ministry of Finance of Okonjo-Iweala who was later transferred (or demoted to Foreign Affairs) upon which she resigned. It was actually during Jonathan's administration that the Igbos got dome sense of belonging in appointments, though not in infrastructural development. The Igbo's have been the proverbial endangered species in Nigeria. So it is not peculiar to this administration. I understand that the Igbos massively supported Jonathan and rejected Buhari just like the Yorubas did to their kin Obasanjo in 1999 and the core North did to Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and almost throughout his administration. I learnt, rightly or wrongly that some people hardly forgive either by their nature, upbringing, tribe or religion. President Muhammad Buhari is in charge and he has the right to do whatsoever he wants with the power given to him through popular votes. He also has the prerogative to appoint whosoever he wants into whatever position. Hoqever, my candid advice to him is that he should not abuse power or use it to victimize anybody or group for their dissenting views. If he wants to fight any societal ill, he should make it wholesome without partiality or with political motive. The country is seriously divided. If he really desires the peaceful coexistence and unity of this heterogeneous nation, he should as much as possible eschew tribalism, religious bigotry and every other form of discrimination. There is nothing anybody will do that everybody will applaud, but the president should remember that power is transient. May the Almighty God help our amiable president to do the right thing, take the country to the promised land and carve his name in gold I J N, You guys are incorrigibly dishonest; see as how you have been going around in circles, beating around the bush without actually substantiating your allegations. The onus is now on you to provide proof to back up your claim that Igbos are being marginalised; remember, you were to provide a full list of all the appointments for comparative analysis so that everybody can see and judge for themselves. However, as expected you cannot come up with the required evidence because as we know it doesn't exist; this clearly goes to show that you and your ilk are only spreading rumours and propaganda against the government and the president in order to justify your natural hatred for him and what he stands for. Go on, keep spreading lies and hate; what you sow now is what you will reap; sooner or later all the insults, lies and hate will get back to you with accrued interest- Kanu is already seeing to that; your ppl are already slowly turning themselves into the most repugnant and disliked tribe in the country. |

UnchangeableGod: I thought you would say Amen but you didn't. You know the truth. There is nothing hidden about president Buhari's appointments, projects, priorities, body language and dealings since he was sworn in as president: All but two of the highest ranking military chiefs are northern Moslems, including the Minister Of Defence, the Minister of Interior, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief Security Adviser, the Inspector- General of Police etc - none is from the Southeast. Virtually all the most sensitive, influential and lucrative positions are controlled by northern Moslems with a few reserved for the Southwest. What about the Secretary to the Federal Government, the INEC Chairman, the EFCC Chairman, Minister of Petroleum Resources (who doubles as the president), the Minister of the Federal Capital GMD NNPC, the Accountant General of the Federation, Comptroller General of Customs etc. There was unexplainable delay in the confirmation of the current Chief Justice of Nigeria who happens to come from the South south causing needless tension until the providential emergence of an Acting President who took the bull by the horn. What about the external appointments that a sitting president influences one way or the other?: the UN Deputy Secretary General, the OPEC Secretary General- all from the Moslem north. Recall that one was recommended by the presidency for the African Union top position but did not win - also from the Nigerian Moslem North. Are all these coincidences? So none of the Southerners who happen to be more educated is eligible for any of these positions? What of the quota system of admission into Unity Schools whereby a child from Anambra or Ekiti is required to score 70 plus to gain admission while a child from Katsina or Zamfara can score less than 5 and get admission to the same school! Ditto with Universities. (This has been in practise for several years though it was not kick started by this current government). Yet when it comes to employment and government appointments, products of quota system are preferred! What of the Northeast Development Commission that is in place barely 7 years after Boko Haram boys destroyed their own place themselves whereas the Southeast that was destroyed by the Civil war from externak aggressors for more than 40 years has not been repaired despite Gowon's proposed three Rs. This is not to talk of the 2014 Confab Report that favours restructuring so that there can be fairness and more even development which the present government is reluctant to implement apparently because the status quo favours the North. This present government is glaringly favouring the North to the detriment of the South in several ways. There is no presumptions or assumptions, conjectures or innuendos about these takes of discrimination. It is real. This government is setting a precedent. I hope you will not complain when it becomes the other way round. Thanks. Just like I thought; exactly the trick you ppl use to deceive the gullible among you through distortion of the realities on the ground, because you already know that those you will sell these lies to are too lazy to bother to cross check. So you think by just picking a few of the appointed positions to make an example is sufficient proof enough to justify your claim - how childish and myopic; do you think everybody is that gullible? If you really wanted to be fair and honest, you would have provided the list of all the appoint-able positions, side by side with the list of who the president appointed along with a break down of their tribes/regions, to show how the Igbos were left out and marginalised by this administration. Once again, I challenge you to prove otherwise - pls do the needful. Your other point concerning quota system pertaining to school admission and employment are not relevant to the present argument; so I set them aside for now and not address them. |

UnchangeableGod: First and foremost, the 'reality' of treating some constituencies better because they voted for you is out of the question. It is only vindictive people who do so. Olusegun Obasanjo did not do so against the Southwest after the 1999 elections, Goodluck Jonathan did not apply this philosophy against the North after the 2011 elections in spite of northern protests and mayhem. Secondly, a leader is a leader of all after elections. It is not just the constitution that should force a leader to be fair to all and prove opponents wrong. Thirdly, the actions of the president so far in terms of appointments really contradicts his 'I belong to all' rhetorics. He has shown that he belongs firstly to the Muslims, to the North and the APC in that order before other Nigerians. Action, they say, speaks louder than words. Thanks. The reality is that you and your ilk stubbornly choose to block your minds from accepting the truth in preference to all shades of your own propaganda and prejudices. Apparently, such trait is inline with the typical Igbo mindset which is more comfortable stuck in the victim's mode where it can feed from an innate sense of persecution that manifests in their natural propensity for quarrelsomeness and endless wailing against phantom cheating and marginalisation. Its a pity because no one can compete with a fixated mindset that only accepts what it wants to believe even against incontrovertible evidence. After having successfully just debunked this calculated malicious lie against the president you conveniently switched to yet another one which it too had already been severally debunked - for the last time get this clear; THE PRESIDENT NEVER SAID HE WOULD DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THOSE THAT DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM NOR HAD HE SINCE BEEN FACTUALLY DISCRIMINATING AGAINST THEM - stop believing and spreading these lies, the facts are out there and verifiable to anyone who isn't lazy to investigate. |
