See response from governors

State governors have it so easy. Unlike the federal government that can be held to ransom by NLC, they won't pay as they have said and nothing will happen.

Yes. They won't sell much though and most bids will fail.

You are right about MAGA, the hype went to TROG another Trump memecoin though I believe MAGA will still go back up and reach new ATH.

Meanwhile buy some NOT and leave somewhere, that coin will cook and will get to $1. You'll just be patient.

It will definitely run once attention returns to it. We buy when no one is buying and sell when they start buying.

If I must buy NOT, it will have to pull back significantly. Once I've missed a runner, I don't chase it.

That 30k how many states have been able to pay it?

Now 105k proposed, maybe na state governors go start the fight against FG.

All those redundant staff on state payroll

This gan gan is the problem. Apart from nurses and doctors, most workers on state government payroll are severely underutilised.

Read the below to get an idea, I did not verify the exact percentage if true but just to get an idea

MINIMUM WAGE: WHAT TO EXPECT.
If the FG signs 60k as the new minimum wage, it is only the basic salaries that will be 60k, and not the total take home. The rent subsidy is 60% of the basic salary. So, an employee on GL 01 step 1 shall get 60k as basic salaries, and 36k as rent subsidy. That is, 96k already. Then for transport allowance, the employee gets another 40% of the basic salaries, which is 24k. After, we have the Meal Subsidy allowance, which is another 25% of the basic salaries. This is yet, another 15k. So, an employee on GL 01 step 1 will get 60k basic salary, 36k rent subsidy, 24k transport allowance, and 15k meal subsidy allowance. That sums up to 135k! Meanwhile, we still have Utility allowance, hazard allowance, and other allowances, which are peculiar to different professions. You can hardly get anybody on GL 01 step 1, these days, and as you go to higher scales, the figure rises.

Wow. I've always thought 30k is total take home.

Federal civil service has just gotten attractive again. I remember how people celebrate getting federal jobs when I was growing up.

.....Wale Edun proposes โ‚ฆ105k as minimum wage to PBAT.

Interesting. Does anyone know if the same % increase will apply across board.

E.g, Level 1 officer goes from 30k to 105k which is a 250% increase.

Will a level 8 officer on say 91k also get 250% increase to 318,000?

The irony. I don't eat bread.

A tuber is between 3500-4000 for medium sized yams. I'm trying to make an arrangement with a colleague who lives in Benue to buy in bulk. I hear the same size goes for 1500-1800.

For where? The children eat one per day. That's 14 a week. The rest ends up being fried. If we eat yam for instance, we fry like 7. The eggs are usually very small. Can't remember the last time I got big eggs.

If Tinubu has paid trillions in subsidy last year, which one dem come dey share again?

You know we earn revenue in USD and naira has been devalued. They earn more money in naira terms due to the devaluation of the currency.

That's why claims that state governors are receiving more money is disingenuous.

The value of the increase has been eroded

I nor fit believe my eyes say I Don dey spend 4k on crate of egg. These eggs are so small that I have to fry 7-8 to get satisfied for 3 people unlike before where frying 4-5 used to be enough.

So now I'm paying alot more for alot less in quality and quantity.

But I compose

That's why I said you guys have it much better.

I bought 4880 yesterday. And the eggs were small as well. Una dey enjoy.

This is the theme of Nigerians suffering.

For people that earn a 100k, you spend about 59-60k on food alone. You never even reason any other thing.

I have personally tried on this forum to break down these things to show how bad things are but there are people here that will defend.
I wonder how much a cup of rice is.

I think those of us in the South South have it worse. Most people have moved to banga soup.

Those amounts can you help convert to a stable currency so we can see if it's more or less

E.g 2.2m in 2022 is it less or more in value compared to 5.4m today?

I'm sure the minister of finance knows the rate of conversion before he said this

Right from the preliminary campaigns Tinubu has always made his supporters look like fooools .

He will make an obvious gaffe , his supporters will spend days reconstructing the speech trying to make sense out of balablue and gazelle Gaza ; only for Tinubuโ€™s spokespersons to come out and give a completely different nonsensical interpretation grin

After he was sworn-in, he will make a policy and his supporters will put in hours of work to rationalize it no matter how ridiculous such policies may be ; only for him to fold and make a U-turn.

The latest na fuel subsidy . Mr Heineken of Niger Delta don deny tire say dem no Dey pay subsidy and APC people don swear say that is the gospel truth . Today Tinubuโ€™s minister friend don tell us say dem don tell us how much dem pay for 2023 fuel subsidy and has further projected what they will pay for 2024 .

It must really suck trying to defend all of these unforced missteps honestly

You don't know how much blow this revelation by the finance minister has dealt them.

I mean, that's the only thing his praise singers kept drumming in our ears. How Tinubu was bold enough to remove subsidy, something no other president has done.

That was why Heineken was ready to die on that hill that subsidy was not being paid. Werey said El rufai should bring evidence grin

We commend the decision of the outgoing administration in phasing out the petrol subsidy regime which has increasingly favoured the rich more than the poor. Subsidy can no longer justify its ever-increasing costs in the wake of drying resources. We shall instead re-channel the funds into better investment in public infrastructure, education, health care and jobs that will materially improve the lives of millions..."
