......dem dey rip our guy. I paid ₦60k per acre for clearing and ridging bro, though not in Ogun State.

Una wey dey do this farming dey try. Someone tried to pitch it to me and the ROI was not making any sense. I don't think it was even up to 50%.

I rather go and buy Tbills/CP and make 25-30% with rest and peace of mind.

It's two different comments.

Let me explain the two comments in sync.

Going into farming I plan to cultivate 10 acres of land and plant maize and cassava but when the expenses was too much I have to reduce it to 5.
When I want to clear the 5 acres I was unable to get labourer so I arrange 10 boys from the city and I was paying them 2500 per day and they work for 6 days. After that tractor plough the land for 40k per acre, so I have planted maize remaining cassava next month on that same land.

So at the edge of the farm their is a free land with small trees like half acre, so I decided to clear and plant yam so I call the labourer in the nearby village to help clear the land and make ridges and they call me this morning to tell me 80k for clearing and 140k for the ridges.
I told them to leave it, I don't have money to do it.

You grab now.

Yes, it's clear now.

Good you told them to leave it. You'll have to go back to using direct labour like you did with the 5 acre.

Just the initial one

You go still weed like 5 more times before harvest.

That's almost 200k only for that.

Looks like the best thing to do is be the farm worker and clear the land seeing as you'll make more money than the farmer himself

Half acre of land.

Okay. In your initial post you said you reduced 10 acres to 5.

80k to clear 3 plots of lands? Looks like I'm doing the wrong job grin

How much you go sell the yam when e mature?

The 80k is for clearing 5 acres? Seems fair if not cheap.

Honestly I think supermarkets and malls have yahoo boys to thank for still being in business o. I mean how many legit hustlers fit afford to dey spend those kind money on toiletries and groceries alone when there are other needs begging for attention ? Ordinarily magic shaving cream don Dey cost 5k, kiwi polish over 1k, body cream over 5k .Harpic toilet cleaner nko? Bath soap nko ? Air freshener nko?

Imagine being on Band A , having a car to fuel , having black tax to pay to ur family members , and still being a dutiful father and husband in this Tinubu regime . And they said it is baby step of pains 🤦‍♂️

No wonder bobrisky left .

Make I shock you. Scientific calculator is now 8000 cheesy. I don't think it was more than 800 when I last bought it. What kind percentage increase is this? These were things we could easily afford from our meagre pocket money back in the days and still have enough to last us the month.

Anybody living in Nigeria and not an APC member will not rate him more than 4/10 in the last one year considering the living conditions of people generally .

For the life of me, I never thought a loaf of bread will cost more than 1k between last year and this year .

U will visit a mall to buy just toiletries and when they scan on the cashiers desk u are already paying tens of thousands . 🤦‍♂️

Anybody who thinks because it is his first year and it’s too early to judge him is just being delusional . We all know as Nigerians that things can only get worse and not better . Let’s not even talk about cost of fueling a car sef .

Had to quote this separately. I think say na only me

I don't think the guy in that screenshot lives in Nigeria. 4/10 is being too generous. What is the 4/10 for?

Security is in shambles, economy in tatters, poverty is at all time high, agriculture is comatose and food inflation has skyrocketed.

Only reason I gave him 1/10 is for the few ministers who are trying their best.

Meanwhile on this fuel issue, I'm starting to think it's a ploy to prepare us for Dangote. Dangote will likely sell around 900-1000 which is the price we are currently buying.

Let's even agree with him. Why didn't he collapse his PDP structure into LP since LP gave Obi the ticket and that's what he initially wanted PDP to do.

Apt, also their was no way a Northerner will have been voted to replace Buhari. Maybe Atiku would have won if he had Obi as running mate as it has been insinuated here, but me personally would never vote Atiku in any election...

While there will be several like you who would never have voted Atiku, it was still the best ticket to unseat APC.

Some have argued the same ticket couldn't defeat Buhari in 2019. What they forget is, Tinubu is not Buhari.

Imagine say in 2015 Instead of Tinubu aligning with Buhari ACN and CPC went into the 2015 elections individually vs PDP

There wont have been a Buhari nor Tinubu presidency.

Obi, Atiku or any politician thinking of running in 2027 are just playing, that election result is already inside INEC safe drawer. Tinubu will rule for 8years, unless God has other plans......

Exactly. The best time to merge and present formidable opposition to APC was 2023. The next will be 2031.

Lol unless Obi is foolish will he believe that

See the screenshot mentioned PDP, which will mean Obi will have to come back to PDP

So say Obi leaves LP to PDP then Atiku picks the ticket again

What will Obi do? Defect back to LP? Even his most serious supporter will call him a jester

Atiku is just whining Obi to fold his LP platform with deception that he can be given PDP ticket

If Obi wants to defect to PDP, he should wait until PDP makes it official that ticket is going to the South or SE

From reactions I've read, it does seem like Atiku was implying a new party will be formed and Obi given ticket if that's the decision. I still agree with your conclusion, a man like Atiku is not to be trusted and Obi will be foolish to believe him.

My own is, if you say Tinubu rigged the last election and even fought it in the court, on what grounds are you excited and pushing for another election. Will Tinubu forget how to rig in 2027?

They are not taking the money because it's not possible. It's the same way pension managers have been investing pension funds into govt bonds and Bill's. There's no difference.

The government do not have the power to take money that is not even there's and in private custody.

Simple. This has been the practice for as long as I can remember.

If it's about them not paying back, the government will rather print money to pay than default.

We the owners of the money even get to earn some returns on our money. The accumulated interest for some of us is in 6 and 7 figures.

Again, I don't get why this is now generating so much uproar.

I think organized private sector , pension funds custodian and senior lawyers actually need to sue the Federal government on this matter .

Number one the pension funds do not belong to the federal government but to retirees whom the pension funds serves as their savings . The federal
Government does not have any legal right to just dip hands into the funds simply because of any phantom plan of infrastructural development .

Another issue is that Nigerian government does not have any capacity to return such funds if they are allowed to “borrow” it.

I read the full article and I saw them talking about phantom ideas of utilizing part of the funds for housing projects which they intend to make available to the pensioners on mortgage . From where I stand I can see through the bullshiiit that like most housing projects if and when such houses are built; like most government housing projects the masses whose pensions were “borrowed “ to construct the project will never benefit from it.

If government needs money for infrastructure development they should go to the international financial market where they have always sourced funds they waste and embezzle . Let them add to the gbese on the neck of the country . They should not put the funds of retirees at risk while going about their rubbish wastefulness .

Nigerian government has been borrowing pension funds for as long as I can remember.

Pension fund managers are one of the biggest investors in NTBs and savings bond. When you buy fixed income instruments from the government, you're essentially borrowing the government money.

Why is this one generating so much uproar?

It is a brainless dolt talking. Theflint1 can confirm. These devices all have unique serial numbers and dedicted IPs and accounts. All they need to do is get serial number from the dish and they can engage starlink for details of who bought, who registered and who pays for the service.

It will be easy to track down who pays for use of that particular device, even their internet history

More so as Elon is from you buy it you can't transfer it school.

This has the potential to be a major success. Anyone saying ban starlink is imho a boko haram sponsor who realises starlink is burned for them
