brokoto: big ups man. i hope you have some sort of mentor or teacher that gives you tips and encouragement. i was lucky i had someone like that when i started early on. anyway, i'd love to help help in any little way i can. just state it here and i'll try to help cheesy cheesy cheesy.
just came across this video recently
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0Sx5lbVlQA&feature=em-subs_digest-newavtr-vrecs. quite motivating. . .
well when I first started I had just one who was my choirmaster in church. The love grew and I decided to go professional. I'm presently studying music in the uni and have great teachers. I'm A̷̷̴̐͠ voice major too.
Music/Radio / Re: Thread For Opera/classical Music Lovers by iventi(m): 4:03pm On Sep 30, 2012
brokoto: the problem i think is that most people just associate opera/classical singing with the Anglican church. this doesn't help because the youths these days prefer to attend the hippy churches and sing gospel/ gospel-hiphop. i dont really know what can be done sha but if anyone has any suggestions i'm game. my own be say i'm making some side money these days with my singing so i really dont mind so much if my peers dont get it because they cant really pay well for it.
exactly mahn! most young people don't get. Well like U̅ said the money is good. I'm working on my voice and techniques everyday so when I get really, really good I'll compete in operalia. I so want to go into opera big time. God d̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ!
Music/Radio / Re: Thread For Opera/classical Music Lovers by iventi(m): 8:16am On Sep 29, 2012
brokoto: yea, i've also come across some of her videos too. Someone told me about her sometime last year. She's hot amazing pitch. So much power in her singing. She's done some songs wit Andrea Bocelli too. There's a channel on DSTV where you can watch opera and also some south african choirs: One Gospel(328) and C Music(329). Cheers
she's really great. I have d video of her singing with bocelli. Ghana is also great. Their tema youth choir did gf handel's sing unto God nd wow it was great. Naija ‎No dey try. Even kenya has a show or competition called the kwaya. God help naija
Music/Radio / Re: Thread For Opera/classical Music Lovers by iventi(m): 8:17am On Sep 28, 2012
I recently came across some south african opera singer while doing my daily video download. South africa is so into opera culture unlike naija. They even have a competition named operalia. A certain miss pretty Yende won dat of 2011. I read her biography nd later downloaded some of her videos and WOW she is good. Also when I downloaded cape festival video(2010), the chamber choir of south Africa gave me goosebumbs wen I heard vivaldi's domine deus fili unigenite. I love good African chorale groups performing both western and African classical music. The feeling is great. Working on my fioratura(coloratura) and so happy I'm getting it !

Ishilove:
Your opinion indeed. Have you heard her rendition of "The Flower Duet" with Kiri te Kanawa?? It is the best rendition I have ever listened to. A pure classic. Vocally I take Brightman any day, but Katherine still remains a powerful singer
I have actually listened to it nd I knw its quite gud since dame kiri is in it. I also have A̷̷̴̐͠ lot of mp3 by jenkins bt she never impresses ♍ƺ. I have A̷̷̴̐͠ video of her singing 'una voce poco fa' nd at A̷̷̴̐͠ point started laughing especially wen she did d 'carrrrr ma!' part. She comes across as pop-ish to ♍ƺ. Have bout six videos and mp3s of Δåτ̲̅ same aria by singers like sutherland, didonato(awwww!love_eeee), garanca(love), and d amelita galli-curci nd katherine's was plain childish nd pop-ish to ♍ƺ( not A̷̷̴̐͠ katherine hater). Well dats only my opinion. U̶̲̥̅̊ shld listen to cecilia bartoli she's great. Her coloratura is wicked. Her '‎No̶̷̩̥̊͡ ‎No̶̷̩̥̊͡ I'll take ‎No̶̷̩̥̊͡ less is rily cul(bt prefer kathleen battle's). I love em coloratura sopranos . Mado robin was one soprano with A̷̷̴̐͠ killer range. Natalie dessay is great too. Jst too many of 'em.

:Under the dense canopy
Where the white jasmine
Blends with the rose
On the flowering bank
Laughing at the morning
Come, let us drift down together
Let us gently glide along
With the enchanting flow
Of the fleeing current
On the rippling surface
With a lazy hand
Let us reach the shore
Where the source sleeps
And the bird sings
Under the dense canopy
Under the white jasmine
Let us drift down together
will watch it. Dats d song I'll be doin with A̷̷̴̐͠ soprano lady tomorrow. Today's dress rehearsal got us an 'encore'. I hope twill b better tomorrow.

brokoto: i concor with you. I dont think she's that good. Sarah Brightman is better but she is more successful and popular than sarah brightman. You need to watch Joan Sutherland on youtube. she's awesome!
just downloaded two videos of A̷̷̴̐͠ 'wicked' contralto. She' EWA PODLES. She's A̷̷̴̐͠ coloratura contralto. Her range is extreme for A̷̷̴̐͠ contralto, imagine A2 - D6(according to wikipedia) she's baaaaad! Her low notes sound So̶̷̩̥̊͡ full Δåτ̲̅ I feel em down my spine. Her coloratura is crazy! Some singers can make one feel So̶̷̩̥̊͡ unlearned especially in d coloratura dept. About the jenkins issue most times I feel I sing better than her classsically. I have A̷̷̴̐͠ video of brightman singing with america's got talent kid jackie evancho. I didn't like her singin der. Her vibrato der was unappealling to ♍ƺ. Bt still dats only my opinion.
Music/Radio / Re: Classical Music! Anyone In The House? by iventi(m): 7:09am On Aug 31, 2012
I'm into classical too. Counter-tenor. Love chorales and vocal music like crazy. Not So̶̷̩̥̊͡ into piano music.
Music/Radio / Re: Thread For Opera/classical Music Lovers by iventi(m): 7:01am On Aug 31, 2012
brokoto: ok. i actually did that song last month (July), although we were 4 people that did. i and a soprano and then an alto with a counter tenor. nice piece. i have a video of it by Joan Sutherland but i cant seem to be able to upload it here. dunno why
cool! D performance's next week wednesday though. U̶̲̥̅̊ rily have A̷̷̴̐͠ thing for joan sutherland. She's great though. Joyce didonato is one lady I rily rily love. Ever heard katherine jenkins? I dnt know why I feel she's not So̶̷̩̥̊͡ good. Maybe because she's A̷̷̴̐͠ crossover singer but dats only my opinion.

brokoto: i find it quite difficult to understand your posts. you could spell out instead of awt for example. its the same number of letters. just saying
yeah noted. Tis(it is) out(awt) from now on. New development. I'll ‎No̶̷̩̥̊͡ longer be singing' but who may abide' instead will be doing A̷̷̴̐͠ duet with A̷̷̴̐͠ soprano lady. D duet is flower duet from the opera lakme. Working on my french cos its in french. I'll be singing the mezzo part.
