Shame on the religious leaders in Nigeria, shame on pastors of churches and Imams of mosques where these our so called religious fathers romancing with common thieves and looters whom we call our governors, ministers, perm sec, president etc. See how these pastors and Imams shamelessly praise corrupt governors and presidents yet they say they are the representative of God's law on earth.

I'm a muslim and i'm especially ashamed of those corrupt governors in the north propagating "shari'ah law" and yet stealing money from govt coffers meant to be for their people and the poor. Below is a beautiful narration of an incident that happened during the life time of prophet muhammed(saw) who practiced "shari'ah law" as it's meant to be practices;-

A man named Jaibir(ra) reported that a woman (rich, noble and highly influential) from the tribe of Makhzum committed theft. She was brought to prophet muhammed(saw)and she sought refuge from Umm Salama the wife of prophet muhammed(i.e. she wanted the prophet's wife to plead on her behalf so that she can be granted immunity from prosecution). Thereupon prophet muhammed(saw) said: By Allah, even if she were Fatima (fatima was the prophet's favourite daughter), I would have her hand cut off. And thus her hand was cut off. (sahih muslim hadith no. 4190)

Polygamy is the solution. Allah(God) from his Infinite Knowledge and Mercy has permitted men to marry more than one wife. This is the only proven viable solution that than help reduce the nos of single ladies, widowers, divorcees looking for a husband. As allah (God) stated in the glorious quran ch4 v3;-

..... marry women of your choice, two or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly, then only one or that your right hands possess. That is nearer to prevent you from doing injustice.

The glorious quran best explains the position and difference in equality between men and women, as Allah(God) states in the glorious quran ch4 v34;-

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah(God) has made one of them(man) to excel the other(woman), and because they(men) spend (to support women) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband's property).

No problem, so long the headmaster does not impact his ifa beliefs on the muslim pupils. Neither do muslims have any problem where the principal or headmistress dresses like a nun or a priest so long they don't force the muslim pupils to dress like such. This is the same thing we want public schools to inculcate; you people to your religion and we to ours. As allah states in the glorious quran ch2 v256;-

There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

To all my muslim sisters attending public schools wearing the hijab. Don't be afraid, Allah knows your desires and knows your faith, and allah will never reduce your reward if you're prevented from wearing the hijab for allah knows the secrets of the souls. Here's a few quotes for muslim men and women from the hadith and quran to help you lighten your burden;-

Quran ch33 v35;-

Verily, the Muslims men and women, the believers men and women , the men and the women who are obedient , the men and women who are truthful, the men and the women who are patient, the men and the women who are humble, the men and the women who give Sadaqat, the men and the women who observe Saum (fast) (the obligatory fasting during the month of Ramadan, and the optional Nawafil fasting), the men and the women who guard their chastity (from illegal sexual acts) and the men and the women who remember Allah much with their hearts and tongues Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).


Quran ch2 v25;-

And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: "This is what we were provided with before," and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun and they will abide therein forever.

Abû Hurayrah relates that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Islam began strange, and it will become strange again just like it was at the beginning, so blessed are the strangers.” [Sahîh Muslim (1/130)]

Abd Allah b. `Amr b. al-`As relates that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him), said one day when the Companions were with him: “Blessed are the strangers.” He was then asked: “Who are the strangers, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied: “They are righteous people among many evil people who disobey them more than they obey them.” [Musnad Ahmad (2/177 & 2/222) and Ibn al-Mubârak, Kitâb al-Zuhd (#775 p. 267)]

`Amr b. `Awf relates that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “The religion will shrink back to the Hijâz like the snake shrinks back into its hole. It will cling to the Hijâz like the mountain goat clings to the mountaintop. The religion began strange, and it will become strange again just like it was at the beginning, so blessed are the strangers who restore what the people corrupt of my Sunnah.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhî (#2630)]

You will not find any people who believe in allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who "HATE" allah and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Ruh (true guidance) from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow to dwell therein. allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the party of allah. Verily, it is the party of allah that will be the successful.

paris10: Religion is a monster, it turns you into a masquerade and later eat up all your psyches and intellect. God saw everything He created that they were beautiful. Who are we then as human to hide such glory and beauty for the sake of some selfish, ignorant, possessed, low self-esteem, apprehensive and deluded scholars calling themselves muslim brothers and Sheiks.

It was ignorance that first started the whole hijab and burqqa thing. Muslim women are like slaves to their husbands. While they seat and care for the children, their husbands goes about town enjoying other women. Now that these women are now seeing the light it has become increasingly difficult to change that tradition. Hijab or Burqa has nothing to do with serving Allah, but it has alot to do with serving men.

Truly hijab and the veil (burqa) has plenty to do in islam. Hijab is compulsory, while veil (burqa) or niqab is voluntary. I agree that Allah created beautiful things including all women made beautiful and precious but like everything that is precious we must protect them; Just like how we keep our beautiful and precious jewels in safe boxes, money in our wallets, valuables in bank vaults, even sef natures hides all its beautiful things just like gold and diamonds in the earth's crust, garden of eden in heaven, pearls in the ocean sand etc etc. A woman's beauty is not just her bossoms, private parts, thighs, buttocks etc which christians only cover, but in islam a woman is a total embodiment of beauty including her hair, face, legs, etc which must be covered.

And allah states in the glorious quran ch24 v31;-

And tell the believing women to lower their gaze , and protect their private parts and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent , and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their women , or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.

Allah also states in the quran ch33 v59;-

O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

rezzy: In some government schools in Sokoto, christians are not allowed except they put on hijab. Even in d village i served in Kano. Though, for me, i dnt see anything wrong in putting on hijab to school.

Dear rezzy, i disagree with you. What you noticed is a peer pressure thing and was not forced by the govt schools; Most of the people in those remote villages are mostly muslims (96%), therefore, the non-muslim pupils prefer to wear the hijab to school so as not look out of place and not that it was forced on them. Just like in lagos, where many muslim pupils prefer not to wear their hijab to school so as not to look out of place. In fact, islam cannot force a muslim pupil to wear hijab talkless of forcing a christian to do so. As allah states in the glorious quran ch2 v256;-

aurenflani: Going by d response of some ppl here i will suggest that all religious symbols dresses and practices should be abolished in lagos public schools. If u want ur wards ro learn their religious teachings you send them to madrassa or sunday sch. i am telling u d first culprits will be these fanatical christians who are eternally hunting for (souls) for "Christ".

Fashola we know ur wife is a christian and we don't care. We also know you were indirectly harrassed for u being a Muslim like many others of ur types but what baffles us is ur level of inferiority complex. "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its teachings.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection."

Yep it was a private school. We, muslims don't have qualms with private schooling dictating how they wanna run their school. But a public school run on muslim & christian tax payers money, then that's a whole different ball game

Islam is our way of life. As a muslim, islam has taught us how to dress, eat, sleep, drink, fight, bath, how to perform marriages, naming ceremonies etc etc even sef, islam has taught us how to have sex with our partners in bed. So why should we listen to a mere common governor who doesn't know his position with GOD almighty, rather we'll obey our lord and submit to our religion which maintains that all girls that have reached the age of puberty and all women that have not yet reached menopause must wear a hijab when in public or when in the presence of men who are not part of their family.

Allah states in the quran Ch2 v208:-

O you who believe! enter perfectly in islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy.

Also in the quran Ch24 v31:-

Akpan107: You got it all wrong... I know of a school in Kano, where Christians must put on Hijab.

That's a private school not a public school. You don't have to wear hijab in public schools in kano state.

In islam, a father is not responsible for the salvation of his children, as the quran states in [ch6 v164]:-

Say: "Shall I seek a lord other than Allah, while He is the Lord of all things? No person earns any (sin) except against himself, and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another. Then unto your Lord is your return, so He will tell you that wherein you have been differing."

Quran [ch35 v18]:-
And no bearer of burdens shall bear another's burden; and if one heavily laden calls another to (bear) his load, nothing of it will be lifted even though he be near of kin. You can warn only those who fear their Lord unseen and perform As-Salat. And he who purifies himself, then he purifies only for the benefit of his ownself. And to Allah is the Return (of all).

I agree with you but not totally. Firstly, we'll have to categorise non-muslims into 2 categories;- (i)Mushrikun (i.e. unbelievers and atheists),(ii) people of the scripture (i.e. christians and jews, who are called kufars or disbelievers).

The non-muslims who are Mushrikun are totally forbidden for muslims to marry, as allah stated in the glorious quran [ch2 v221]:-

And do not marry Al-Mushrikat (idolatresses, unbelievers etc.) till they believe. And indeed a slave woman who believes is better than a (free) Mushrikah (idolatress, etc), even though she pleases you. And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikun till they believe, and verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater etc), even though he pleases you. Those (Al-Mushrikun) invite you to the Fire, but Allah invites (you) to Paradise and Forgiveness by His Leave, and makes His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to mankind that they may remember.

Now, the other non-muslims (i.e. christians & jews )called kufars or disbelievers, cannot marry muslim women, but the muslim men can marry them. That is, a christian man cannot marry a muslim lady but a muslim man can marry a christian lady. As Allah states in the glorious quran [ch5 v5]:-

Made lawful to you this day are At-Tayyibat (lawful) foods, which Allah has made lawful. The food of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them. (Lawful to you in marriage) are chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time when you have given their due Mahr (bridal-money), desiring chastity not committing illegal sexual intercourse, nor taking them as girl-friends. And whosoever disbelieves in Faith, then fruitless is his work; and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

The Quran states;-

And those who have no knowledge say: "Why does not Allah speak to us, or why does not a sign come to us?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike, We have indeed made plain the signs for people who believe with certainty.

I shall turn away from My Signs those who behave arrogantly on the earth, without a right, and (even) if they see all the proofs, they will not believe in them. And if they see the way of righteousness, they will not adopt it as the Way, but if they see the way of error, they will adopt that way, that is because they have rejected Our signs and were heedless (to learn a lesson) from them.

The Quran states:-

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!

And that Allah may test the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers.

The Quran states in Ch2v28:-

How can you disbelieve in Allah(God)? seeing that you were dead and He(allah) gave you life. Then He will give you death, then again will bring you to life (on the Day of Resurrection) and then unto Him you will return (See V.40:11)

OR DO YOU DOUBT RESURRECTION? The Quran states in Ch41v39:-

And among His Signs, that you see the earth barren; but when We send down water (rain) to it, it is stirred to life and growth. Verily, He Who gives it life, surely, is Able to give life to the dead (on the Day of resurrection). Indeed He is Able to do all things.
( سورة فصلت , Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #39)
