Mjshexy:Marketers don't enjoy expensive prices. It doesn't make business sense. In fact, they will make more money at lower buy price. |
FromZeroToHero:Your submissions show total lack of understanding of the differences between national and sub-national governments. Lagos didn't buy fuel at 5 times the other Nigerian states. It didn't buy forex at 3 times other Nigerian states. The only people affected by Tinubu's Lagos "reforms" aka increased tax collections are the middle class who were not previously paying taxes. |
oluwaseyi0:From which refinery? If subsidy is fully removed, there will be no need of middleman called NNPC. Till then, NNPC will be involved because of pricing. |
englishmart:I pity your car engine. |
OALandAgents:Don't you think the individual involved is better equipped to decide if to report or not? Some NL women like ivolt, cococandy, pocohantas, Kobojunkieee, 1Sharon commenting do not understand this about UK, perhaps because they have never lived in White Oyibo land.I must be a NL women because I called out the unprofessionalism of the cop in this video, right? Are you aware that the current laws on domestic issues in the west were made by men-dominated assemblies? That said, you and the man wants to enforce Nigerians tolerance of abuse in the UK. People must never say anything to outsiders unless when taking their last breath, right? The only thing that has changed is your location and income assuming you have been to the UK before as you insinuate. For me, the man was spot on because he works in the system and he knows that it is an unwritten objective of the authorities to destroy black families so that they find it easier to seize the children and put them into care or adoption.Trying to scare potential abuse reporters again? Children are seized when both parents are incompetent. Personally Nigerians in particular and black people in general need to understand that the Oyibo land police are not our friends and we should avoid involving them n our personal business.Another scare tactic. You are trying to use racism argument to rationalise covering up abuse. More like shut up and take the abuse because white police are racist. I would even recommend only calling them if your life is at risk or if serious injury may be imminent. Otherwise we should have numbers of other black familiy and friends we can call as alternatives to police.People should be free to use alternatives if they want but not discouraged from reporting by a man in police uniform. But if it is the typical Nigerian alternative to domestic abuse resolutions. It usually goes like this; The wife is told to be more patient, tolerant and stop challenging the lord of the house and she is reminded that her mother went through similar issues and her endurance was rewarded by successful children. The husband is urged to be more considerate and merciful which an abusive person will ignore because he has just been validated as the alpha and omega of his own home. Why should he give an inch? When you create incentives where there is no consequence to violence or abuse, the society becomes more violent and vice versa. |
Realtord43:Can you clarify what you mean by cheater's love? Don't mention paying bills, because some people pay bills of others they don't even have a relationship with. |
okay |
MadPolitician:Nuclear weapons only give an edge over non-nuclear state. |
MerchantMNT:Don't be silly. You either didn't watch the video or couldn't understand it even though no cryptic language was used in there. |
hmmn |
That is a situation when killer drones and attack helicopters will have proven supreme. Nigerian army should stop fighting bullets with bullets but instead use weapons deadlier than the enemy can parade. |
That's a great ROI for illegal immigrants who spent far less than $35K to reach Sweden. |
![]() The headline doesn't match the content. The government indeed supported the farm but not as much as it claimed. |
pocohantas:What I find funny is that some of the readers who consider the cop a hero in the first thread have now made a u-turn to claim he never discouraged women from reporting domestic issues. If he really didn't say anything contrary to the UK's value, then why was he considered a hero in the first place? Given that about 99% of Nigerians, if I am not exaggerating, share similar view with him, the man could become a YouTube sensation if he starts a marital advice channel. So, your advice is spot on. |
femi4:If after watching the full video, not the cut out part and you can't see the discouragement. Then I can conclude you don't understand context in language usage. |
Bovis:You want to play with language. List the examples of domestic "disputes" that shouldn't have been reported but you think can get a man in trouble when reported. |
femi4:Yes, the blogger emphasised the part they feel will resonate with their readers. But that he didn't discourage reporting is not true contextually. It is not as if I was listening to a translation, it is my language. |
babtoundey:Unemployment is not a crime in the UK, so no husband can be reported for being jobless. There are 2 categories of valid domestic issue reports, actual violence or threats of violence. So, if a man is reported for sneezing as you insinuate, then there is no case! What usually happens is that there is an argument over an issue, the one who loses in the oral/insults contest(usually men) devolve into subtle or non-subtle threats. Some women believe the threats(may or may not be credible, nobody knows) and go on to lodge complain. Others don't. I would have been somewhat sympathetic for the man's view if 1. He wasn't on uniform 2. He provided statistical evidence that shows that Nigerian women make more frivolous reports than other groups in the UK. My position is that it is wrong for a cop to discourage reporting for whatever reason. |
femi4:He shouldn't have given the advice in police uniform. Yes, there will always be frivolous reports but it is not his place to discourage reporting officially |
Goodnewsforlife:Nope. That is the advice giving by religious or traditional folks to cover up abuse and shame those who call out for help. |
Newton2024:Another dollard with free data. Go and play with your kid mates. |
cococandy:I understand what he is saying. He wants women to resolve domestic issues aka violence in house and not involve "outsiders" aka law enforcement. But that is his own personal opinion being falsely paraded as the policy of the police department that hired him. He will likely suffer no consequence due to language barrier. |
Judolisco:The judge did that because the law permit him/her. In a no fault divorce state, you don't need any reason for seeking divorce. It will be granted no questions asked as the law demands. In the west, an husband slapping a wife risks jail term if the case is pursued. Using parents/pastors to settle cases of domestic violence is only promoting a violent society overall. In order to reduce violence, there must be serious consequences for violent behaviors! |
Very unprofessional. I am not surprised the advise is coming from an immigrant. The officer deserve a reprimand for trying to cover up domestic violence. He is trying to promote a corrupt and abusive society with socially enforced code of silence. BTW, there is nothing like "UK police". |
Nothing special here. With a few hundreds of thousands of dollars in lobbying fund, any group can meet with the US speaker. |
juliuscaesar:Dangote need not bow to anybody's pressure as long as his products are cheaper or at the same price with imported one. The only organization capable of pressuring Dangote is NNPC and the marketers are merely following its footstep. Most of these importers get forex from CBN and sell in the black market and make huge profits. They also do what is called round tripping. They import petroleum product, and bribe officials at the department of petroleum resources, NNPC and the likes. They get the subsidy for the products they imports, let's say 30 million metric tonnes. They discharge only 10 or 15 million and then take the rest to neighboring African countries to sell. This is after they have been paid subsidy on 30 million metric tonnes. This isn't the 2010s anymore. NNPC is the sole importer of petrol as only NNPC has the forex(not even enough) to import it. The marketers in this case are merely distributors. No marketer is being paid subsidy, they buy from NNPC and sell at a profit. |
The Dangote Refinery VP is a joker. Why not also list the reasons why marketers are shunning Dangote's product? |
shortgun:Do you know how he got there or the people beating him? Just think of how many scenarios where people are publicly beaten in Nigeria. Thieves, cultists, thugs, government agents and even police get beaten under different circumstances. The blogger assumed the beating has something to do with suicide because of where it occured. No evidence. |
This is childishly fake. If they say importers, that may be plausible. But marketers complaining of cheap diesel price that is obviously false Marketers make their money from margins and not cost price. In fact, a cheaper diesel will be highly beneficial to low-finance marketers. |
Never trust blogger's headline. It is all for clicks. Let us wait until the real story emerges. |
mrjoeblinks:Will you support him and go to jail with him too? |
lampido22:That is how it works. The one without custody pay the one with custody unless they are too poor to pay. Then the debt is carried till death. |
