Some modules to implement on the platform: Basic modules -------------------------- 1.) Local governments 2.) Cities/Towns 3.) States 4.) Country (Nigeria) The basic modules represent the core of the platform. These four basic modules should be layered in such a way that from within a state, you can view local government areas or towns/cities. Other modules ---------------------- 5. People (Residents and Visitors) 6. Neighborhoods 7. Organisations - (Companies, Agencies, Associations, Schools etc) 8. Activities - (Events, News, Discussions, Opinion polls etc) I will be adding more modules shortly. |
The eNigeria platform is a virtual Nigeria where everything in the physical or geographic Nigeria is represented in one online portal. I am proposing we start it as an open source project. Those interested can follow this thread and also add their contribution following the guidelines which I will later add on this thread. |

I quote some very frightening statements from the report: Prophet Mohammed was a “cult leader”; and that the Islamic practice of giving charity is no more than a “funding mechanism for combat.” The more “devout” a Muslim, the more likely he is to be “violent.” Those destructive tendencies cannot be reversed.Read full report: http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/09/fbi-muslims-radical/ |
We can still get this thread working. Those still interested in the open source project can send their suggestions on which project we should build. I will officially pick one and start a new thread for the chosen open source project by tomorrow. At least we are going to do something different. |
What will the App do other than what the Wap version of NL is already doing? |
So what is the way forward, we need to start having larger applications like facebook, google, linkedin, myspace etc, This "lone ranger" mindset will definitely not produce the kind of effect web technology is having in India, UK or US. |
You can now create a blog at Omavo.com. I have been testing the public aspect of my blogging platform for a while now, I finally became comfortable to allow Nigerians blog on this platform. All blogs created on the Omavo.com platform are going to be having great traffic and also all ads on your blogs are entirely controlled by you. It is a team based blogging platform. Try it out and let me have your reviews. Please note: I am still coding the platform, so expect little compared to the heavy weights like blogger or wordpress. The advantage here is you are 100% accepted and free to suggest any form of modification on your blog freely. |
I just did some modification on the script. You can now customize the entire website using a single file "settings.php" on the modules folder. The download folder has been updated. I will be adding more features to support social networking and Recaptcha this weekend. |
I actually ignored this post as I discovered that we are not really cut out for a groupware right now. I am currently developing smaller applications and scripts I can easily give out for FREE. |
Gmmail:Yeah, the online booking stuff will definitely be a blast if added to the script. I may code that in if it is valuable or needed by lot of people. Notice: The script uses a popup window to launch the app. To view demo make sure your popup blocker is off. |

I think their investors has got a very deep purse. They mean business. |
Just fixed the download link. Those who sent mails about the download link not working can now proceed to download the Bulk Sms portal files. I will try fixed some of the challenges cited by those who previously installed the script. |
Just got this complaint concerning Yookos from some internet users in the US. I think the guys managing Yookos.com have resorted to spamming to grow the christian network. Pst Chris should quickly look into this before some serious court cases starts springing up! Below is the exact complaint I received from my scam guide (scams.omavo.com) website: 26 August 2011 I received an email stating I had created an account under the name Theodora Eno-Obong. I have no clue who that is and had never heard of this site prior to the email notification. I quickly requested a password reset to be sent to my email so I could log onto to the site and delete the account. There is no way for the user to delete the account. There is no way to contact the admin or even find out who the admin is to contact them about deleting the account. I tried posting annoying rants and links in hopes of being booted. No such luck. The account is still active as of today 27 August. The admins have simply removed my ability to post.Read other reviews posted for Yookos.com http://scams.omavo.com/?p=49172 |

Dual CoreThis has got me really thinking. An open source platform that supports businesses to grow and also supports greater social netwroking capability. |

Traffic: Latest posts on all blogs within the OWS will be streamed on the omavo.com home page giving your blog a lot of daily traffic. |
Excelboi:Running an auction site like ebay will require lots of time spent on security. We should stay out of any project that require payment or money. |
Open source are absolutely free thing. The interesting thing about open source projects is that it helps solve tech problems and challenges faster through group work and brain storming. Also help the young aspiring web app coder improve on its coding ability. For money, I think the only way an open source gets money is through donations from users. Also the project can get funded or sponsored by corporation if they think it will solve their tech problem. |
frisahost:What niche would you suggest? Any idea will very much help shape the scope of the open source project. |
Top on my list is a simple sociable event management and listing platform just like what facebook has within its platform. But will like others to choose or suggest what could be more gainful. |
