ProgrammingRe: Aspiring To Be Programmer: How To Cope by iwantto(m): 2:09pm On May 21, 2011
I can see you currently have less funds to acquire the tools needed to really pursue software development properly.

I will recommend you focus first of web and mobile apps because they are quicker to monetise. The Nigeria software industry is still very unproductive for the software developer.

I am speaking from experience, I did Sun Java like 5years ago in NIIT, I couldn't really get a proper job or even use the acquired knowledge to startup my own business. I decided to take some courses in Web development, I did some .NET, and also php MySQL, Ajax and JQuery. Within 3months, I was developing web projects for companies and also building some for my personal use and I was able to save money to buy a laptop, get an office for my business etc.
WebmastersRe: I Need Some Support On This Project by iwantto(op): 10:49am On May 20, 2011
I just think I need to wait for my next adsense payment to employ the service of other developers to join the OWS project. The sites gets about 20 - 30euros daily.

Nigerian competent web application developers are usually very expensive and too busy, that was why I decided leaving them out right now.
WebmastersI Need Some Support On This Project by iwantto(op): 4:56pm On May 17, 2011
I have been doing a lot of SEO and programming on this portal www.omavo.com.

The SEO has greatly help lift the traffic above the roof. Within 3weeks my 7days ranking is now around 14k from over a million+.

I am looking for $1200 to get 2 Indian developers to complete the project. Doing it all alone is killing me and with the current wave of massive traffic, I need to act fast to keep up with the pace of growth.

Anyone is willing to contribute in helping out raise this fund should contact me through this email: wmg2009@gmail.com or call 07064931423.

WebmastersAbuja Web Technology Group by iwantto(op): 8:10pm On May 15, 2011
If you live in Abuja, you can keep in touch with this group to improve IT penetration in the FCT. We need to bond and also explore new opportunities within the web tech arena. This group meets monthly to share ideas.

We need to grow the industry faster just as Lagos has done.
WebmastersRe: Nigeria New Wall - Will Complete It By Tomorrow by iwantto(op): 5:31pm On May 14, 2011
Being a very hectic day working on the nairawall.com default theme. I couldn't finish today, was less motivated today.

Will resume work by Monday. Really want to launch this site and move on to the next project. Got 10 personal google ads based projects to complete.
Web MarketRe: Introducing The Trudigits "starter" Hosting Plan - 3,500 Naira Per Year by iwantto(m): 6:31pm On May 13, 2011
Trudigit seem to really mean business. The implementation of its WHMC is very professional, it took web4africa many years to implement theirs.

I choose my hosts based on how simple and professional they present their offer. Watch my words, Trudigits will be flooded shortly with clients and it be among the very highly ranked hosting companies in Nigeria.
WebmastersRe: Nigeria New Wall - Will Complete It By Tomorrow by iwantto(op): 6:21pm On May 13, 2011
@Dual Core,

Yeah, was wondering what features one can add to a wall technology for better user experience. A want to build a technology people can use and visit regularly. Will be adding my personal walls for jobs, news headlines, entertainment etc.

Got lot of time right now to write codes and I would rather build my personal projects and get 20k or 30k from each monthly from google ads rather than chase companies for web projects they hardly appreciates.
WebmastersNigeria New Wall - Will Complete It By Tomorrow by iwantto(op): 6:04pm On May 13, 2011
Just started coding my latest project. It is a weblog technology where people can create their own walls through a sub-domain. I am programming it from scratch. No Open Source.
WebmastersRe: Microsoft Buys Skype $8.5bn by iwantto(m): 10:00am On May 12, 2011
I was shocked when I saw the news on CNN. The amount is quite small given level of technology and user base of skype.

My views on this deal is supported by Google offer of over $5billion for groupon.com. Groupon is nothing close to Skype in terms of market size and technology implementation.
BusinessWhat Do I Need To Start A Venture Capital Company by iwantto(op): 4:38pm On May 11, 2011
I am about starting a venture capital company for Tech Startups. I am a little bit confuse on what form of registration I need.

Do I need to register with SEC or just CAC?
Christianity EtcRe: Yookos.com – Christ Embassy’s Social Networking Site. by iwantto(m): 11:10am On May 11, 2011
This is the current stats for yookos.com from Alexa

Average Load Time for Yookos.com
Very Slow (8.459 Seconds), 99% of sites are faster.

99% of websites on the internet is faster than Yookos.com, this is quite strange given the size of the website owner and pedigre

7 day 103,007 +34,888
1 month 61,736 +14,431
3 month 43,687 +2,090

The site traffic is drastically falling daily, meaning lot of people has stopped using the website most likely due to its load time or lack of mission driven contents.

My Opinion:
Nigerians need to understand that a web project should be treated like a normal company with proper staffing and daily contributions and assessment of progress. Yookos need a proper development team to steer it.

WebmastersRe: Omavo.com - Nigeria New Blogging Platform Like Blogger by iwantto(m): 4:03pm On May 07, 2011
Traffic suddenly spiked due to the large number of articles I added. The site currently have over 1million articles making it one of the largest content websites in Nigeria. This was the reason while the bandwidth went off.

Within 1 week, Alexa 3months ranking left from over 2million to 165,000 with the daily ranking currently at less than 20k.
PoliticsRe: Imo State Guber: Rochas Okorocha Has Won! by iwantto(m): 12:00pm On May 01, 2011
The spirit of benevolent is greatly lacking in our society hence the reason why our leaders can't even use public funds (our own funds) to help us.

If a man can use his own personal funds to contribute to society, then with public funds he will definitely do better.

I am not from Imo but I have always loved Okorocha approach to benevolence, that is affecting society where it matters most - education.

Take a sample of the total population of this forum, u will discover that less that 10% is willing to part with their hard earned to support a poor child's through school.

WebmastersRe: Unlock your Earning Potential. Highest Paying ad Network by iwantto(m): 2:16pm On Apr 30, 2011
The website domain name is too childish. Why use paymugu when there are several positive names out there you can use.

The name alone will drive away more than 50% of your potential users.

I am still seriously working on this project - www.omavo.com. At the moment the traffic has spiked up and the 7days alexa ranking is now around 50k. I intend ranking at least around 3k before the end of May 2011.

Will start building the classified platform before 15th of May.
PoliticsNow You Can Understand What Happened April 16th by iwantto(op): 11:19pm On Apr 27, 2011
From the way ppl voted against pdp throughout the country April 26th, it clarified what really happened at the presidential elections. Pro Buhari supporters ar really disappointed on hw things turned out during the guber election. They taught PDP was going to sweep thru the South as it did at the presidential election.

It was a sad outcome to BB supporters.
PoliticsRe: My Lamentation For Nigeria! by iwantto(m): 10:35pm On Apr 26, 2011
@Kristonium, stop lamenting for Nigeria. There is no need for that. Every great democracy in the world went thru these same sequence before evolving into what they are today.

Our democracy is growing and it is just a toddler so don't expect too much from it right now. At least 2011 elections were far better than previous ones. Every outcome we will get or will get from election is a part of the evolution.

With more corpers killed and many evacuating the troubled northern states, INEC may run short of corpers staff to man polling units around the northern states.

Are there other alternatives right now by INEC?

WebmastersRe: Sms Api Gateway by iwantto(m): 1:38am On Apr 20, 2011
@Easyphp

When using SMS APIs, people don't need to leave your site, they are actually going to send the SMS broadcast from your website though the main business logic is controlled from the Gateway.

You control how the application responds to the user who is sending the SMS.

WebmastersShare Your Website Ideas by iwantto(op): 1:52pm On Apr 19, 2011
Lets use this thread to share some great website/application ideas.

My submission:

One great web site idea that will be greatly hit is a mobile web portal for Nigeria. Nigeria is yet to have a true mobile portal. Lots of Nigerians use their phones a lot for accessing the internet. The number of internet connected mobile phones in Nigeria is way ahead of computer or laptops connections.

I personally spend more time on my BB than on my laptop because virtually everywhere I go my BB can easily access the internet to check up happenings around the country. I have been searching around for any web portal in Nigeria with good mobile pages.
