It doesn't, and that's still a big problem

I traveled on Wednesday
Bought 1855 in Lagos
Bought 1820 at Ore.

The price is still crazy. I heard the discount is for public users. I don't understand what that means

Tinubu should have just announced that Petrol has reduced price.

Infact, no need to talk sef. Let people just see that the price has fallen.

This funny explanation of differentiating between discount and subsidy just gave Atiku a sweet vindication.

Now Nigerians believe subsidy is very possible grin

Did anyone watch the video of Lai Omotola of Politico NG, concerning Land title scam in Lagos state?

He said they bought a property from the Federal Government in VI

Some guys came later and evicted them from the property, stating that (Late Mr Amusan), bought it from Late Samuel Ige (Bola Ige's brother) in 2015. They brought a Governor's consent that was issued in 2020.

He then decided to investigate, and found out that Samuel Ige died in 2012, and Mr Amusan died in 1994. So how come two dead people transacted in 2015?

The shocking part is that they have a valid governor's consent issued in 2020, and the file is in the system.

Imagine the kind racket going on!

BlueRayDick:
Earlier today I saw a post talking about the number of military air crash that has happened in the past 10 to 15 years while civilian airlines have not really suffered any major casualty in that same time space.

The post was pointing to the fact that Nigerian Civil Aviation Agency has been at their A-game seeing to commercial airline operators taking maintenance of the aircraft and general safety measures pretty serious. He posited that may have been reason there's been reduction in air mishaps involving commercial flights in Nigeria.

Military aircrafts are however not within supervision and control of NCAA. This is being speculated as maybe one of the reasons there's been spike in the rate of military aircraft. The post was suggesting corruption, inefficiency and lack of proper independent oversight may be reasons as to why aircrafts belonging to military authorities have been unfortunately involved in crashes of recent.

The whole thing got me thinking, the poster may not be wrong knowing how we are in Nigeria and how corruption has affected all spheres of of our daily lives
Also, it's possible that it was just unfortunate

Saw a video of the same aircraft airlifting Air Force secondary school students in September.

Such a pity

Na why i say make we drop am. Nobody will be happy seeing his group criticized in a certain fashion. It could be religious, ethnic, political, ideological etc. It is especially difficult when it involves ethnicity and religion which are settings you can't change easily like the clothes you wear.
I understand you!

But I didn't think anything we said yesterday was insulting, in my opinion oh.

We all came from different tribes, and we all know they have their flaws. I personally do not think anybody's tribe is better than mine. And I also don't think my tribe is better than anybody's own.

If I have to avoid or get angry when someone discusses the flaws of my tribe, then I might just relocate to my village.

It's a conversation, howbeit bitter. People will have it, whether you're there or not. E no reach to dey vex.

I get him partly.. You can attack the candidate but when you start expanding that to his ethnic group then I will have a problem

bi/Tinubu is the useless person not Ibo/Yoruba but some people in order to shade the candidate they throw a blanket on the group

E.g I don't know how Yorubas dey think wey dem go vote a Tinubu. Yoruba na him dey drag the country back because of voting Tinubu

There was a lot of this in the buildup to 2023 elections that in some quarters online, that it became fashionable to insult Yorubas, the culture, Yoruba elders, Yoruba rulers flippantly
Apart from you and Spy disturbing us with back and forths here, nobody has raised conversations that had to involve tribes. grin

Even this liberalism matter started when someone said SW wasn't liberal and it was only Lagos. I even partly agreed with that too.

Did any Yoruba person accuse me insulting his tribe?

Personally for me, I try to be less sensitive to comments online and offline. I meet different tribes everyday, and I even meet people insult my tribe. If I have to respond to everything I hear, I will either lose my voice daily, or have a blooded nose.

The comment is even factually untrue. BlueRayDick who was probably the one pressing the issue most is one of the most active Obidients on this thread.

This started with Elder calling Yorubas liberal, probably in order to defend them against the subtle and not so subtle accusations of tribalism/bigotry only for someone else to insert Igbos into the equation in his response BEFORE BlueRayDick (an Obidient) started putting knee to neck.
Yeah.

I remember that this Liberal stuff started with someone (Can't remember) talking about how the liberalism of the SW was a hogwash.

Na from there e start.

You call it cruise but it is becoming a recurring theme, that is predictable, especially during this season. Also, it is not only Spy and Raumdeuter, I understand both and never involve myself with their bants, but we are seeing more people position themselves as arbiters of justice, whenever the topic has any inclination to the Igbos. Call it emotional, it's fine but I can see through the bias of many positions.
The regular monikers that comment on this thread are not even up to 10.

Yesterday, we were just about 6 or so that was debating about the Female inheritance wahala. Some Yoruba monikers even stayed out of it entirely, including Raum.

We can see bias in anything, depending on how we look at it. They are free to criticize any part of our tradition. But what nobody has done is denigrate the tribe.

E no reach like that
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 2:56pm On Oct 06
Roland17:
Whenever every topic on this thread ultimately finds its way back to "Igbo", just look at the date and time of the year and I promise you, it is around election season. One would think we are the only tribe in the entire nation to trigger such during this period. We all know this has everything to do with a strong contender in Obi being on the ballot.

I have maintained that anyone is welcome to drag Obi, question his records, integrity, intelligence and ability to lead Nigeria, afterall he put himself in that space and it comes with the territory. However, I will not look the other way when you start using it to push hurtful and dangerous narratives about his tribe or hide behind your bias to propagate lies about Igbos, just because you see Obi's candidacy otherwise.

Candidate no sabi him own native language na Igbos fault.

Na that time people will remember that a Metropolitan State like Lagos appointed an Igbo person as a member of cabinet, as though Igbos are the only non-indigenes in that government. Look around and you'd see appointees from other states and tribes in that same government but everyone becomes blind and deaf. But that Igbo appointment has to be amplified.

Na that time everybody go remember all the traditional rites/ Omenala of Ndi Igbo and tell you which one is good and which one is bad, like their own tribes dey perfect. From inheritance to marriage to how we eat, eat, breath and anything under the sun. We know a widow/ wives in Yoruba land are not allowed to inherit properties of their husbands, are the wives not women also? Or do female children in Yoruba land have a different gender from wives/widow? A widow's inheritance is through the children but of course everyone turns a blind eye because Agenda must Agend.

Na that time everybody will attribute "Lagos is no man's land" to Igbos, forgetting a South Westerner actually perpetuated the idea. It is not any different from when Major Kaduna Nzeogwu magically becomes a full fledged Igbo man on the 15th of January every year and we gladly accept him as a broher! After the 15th of January, he goes back to being a Delta man, a Kaduna or even Benin man.

Na that time places like Okota, Ojo, Festac, Alaba International Market, Ladipo go hot for news..

At the end of the day, we all know what we are doing, all of us!
Chief...

Your comment, howbeit understandable, has a lot of emotions which shouldn't be so.

Firstly, I'll say that it's all cruise and banter. Anybody's online opinion about any tribe doesn't change or make it less of what they are.

Secondly, the Genesis of any Igbo vs Yoruba discussion always comes from Spy and Raums banter. They are both a menace to themselves, and others just pick one thing to bant on. We will not also ignore that Spy sef has been giving Raum hot hot too.

My point is that, in my opinion, e never reach to dey this emotional. We all have been here since 2023, and at least, here has been the least toxic space I can find on NL.

No take am to heart, Chief

Hamzat: A person earning 100k shouldn't go through the burden of such rent. Rather, he should save up, live with parents/guardian till he earns more, so he can afford such rent.

I can not fault any state government's attempt to promote the native language.

The difference here is that in Lagos state, the native language is presently being "demoted" and portrayed as irrelevant just to "accomodate" the shortcomings of a GRV who is evidently disconnected from the culture and traditions of the state he wants to govern.

Theflint1:
His learning or not won't move the needle, want to test it?

Consider any of the Yoruba's not supporting GRV on this board, mention one person you think would change their mind about him simply because he did a crash course in Yoruba.

GRV not speaking Yoruba fluently has less to do about him as a person or his opinion of Yoruba culture and more to do about how he was brought up.

I've met a number of born and bred indigenous Lagosians that don't speak Yoruba, especially those that came from homes where dad is Yoruba and mum from another tribe.

If GRV loses or not, it won't be simply because he didn't speak Yoruba...the Bola Tinubu political machinery has been winning elections since 1999 and it's a machinery that has crushed bonafide Lagosians that speak Yoruba...allow GCRV run his campaign how he wants, he won't be the first person to lose.

This energy is best expended selling Funsho Doherty or any other person you're backing.
He should first do the crash course.

His target audience still involves the market women with old trays, selling sweets and bitterkola at Tinubu square. Will he speak English to them?

I don't know if he would win or not.

But if you were embarrassed because you couldn't speak Yoruba in 2023, and 3 years later, you still don't see the need to block that loophole, then you're not serious.

GRV is not serious about contesting..

He knows
I know
But you guys don't grin
