If you are going for a conference then it can be expedited, you would be given an early date to accommodate your travel plans. I had the same case.

Due to the high flight charges to California, i bought ticket to NY but had my connecting flight ticket with me. Only question asked was how long are u staying and i replied 14days. Got stamped and he said, "welcome to America". Dat was all.

LadyG, Seyewest and other learned fellows. I bring you warm greetings from Obamaland.

Now i fully understand why ties are strongly checked before the approval of visa applications. This place is super tempting and one can easily refuse to return home if you have no ties to "drag" you back. Cant wait to reunite with my kids.

Should be out of here by February. God bless us all.

You can apply for an expedited date cos i had the same challenge.
I filled my DS160 by late July and got Sept 11th while my conference is scheduled for Sept 9th. I went ahead to choose d Sept 11th then mailed the Consulate explaining that i intended to leave by 6th, blah blah blah.

Pls note that i attached my payment invoice for d event + invitation sent by the organisers, all reflecting the conference date.
I was allowed to reschedule frm Sept to Aug and i chose 11th Aug.

I booked my interview yesterday night and I was ~~not~~ surprised that the earliest available date (which I grumpily settled for) is 6 Weeks + away.

My DS 160 form travel dates are for early october, gurus in the house. Kindly help with a simplified version of what I should do.

Lol @ final MBBS exams but then, it is worth the trouble. We are often too lazy to study as we are used to looking for shortcuts to everything.

Even bible talk am say, "study to show yourself approved..2Tim2:15 wink

My wife was also amongst the Monday applicants and she was given and just about 4 questions were asked. Meanwhile before now we studied the transcript posted here like it was final MBBS EXAMS. We did role plays over and over and over again.

@ Chealsefan1 and laeksyde; i'm sorry it ended in refusals, if care is not taken, it can be upsetting kind of.

Pls "study" this thread like one writing an exam on it and you will see where you got it wrong and why you got refused.

VOs do not have all the time in the world to attend to an applicant, your DS160 does the job, your presence is to "defend" what you filled therein.
