170k miles on an 07 camry LE with 2.2m as the price is on the high.

Mine was appraised for 1.7-1.8m and it's clean as hell with 35k on the odo.

So u can use the 1.5-1.8m as a benchmark.

234CustomCars: ON A GOOD/SEXY DAY,this is a HUGE JOB for even the BEST shops/garages in the U.S.of A!! For someone to now tell me they wrecked their SRT-8 beyond repair but bought an SXT OR SE body and dropped a 6.1L engine into an engine bay that it wont even bolt into (different motor and transmission mounts........not to mention the brembo big-brake kit, computer system, completely different transmission, half-shafts, wire harnesses , cat-back exhaust and everything else necessary)and had this done by a NON-ASE-CERTIFIED MECHANIC IN................wait for it.................ABUJA huhIt'd cost you more to get this insane conversion done than to buy an ACTUAL SRT-8 and thats taking into consideration that the 06-10s are now even going for under $20k!!! Negro you even said the car was so wrecked you had to get a new shell !! If the wreck was that bad, how in Saddam Hussein's name were you able to salvage ALL your mechanical parts from the SRT-8 ??Or whoever heard of a car that was totalled but still had all mechanical parts in perfect working order huh? You were able to get your ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION out of the car but the TRADEMARK SRT-8 SEATS were lost in the accident ?? What happened , the seats caught fire but the engine didnt ?? This JOB would have been a FIRST OF IT'S KIND IN THE WORLD cos the PROFESSIONALS wont even attempt it. I WAS gonna let you quietly fade to black when I called you out for the fake SRT pic but you just couldn't walk away huh huh Any nigga who believes this fantastic story of yours needs to have his brain replaced with semolina!!!

You have a Dodge Charger. Be proud of it. Some niggas ride the bus, have keke-napeps etcs and they'd kill to be in your shoes. Don't make up bogus shit just to pad your ego on the internet chale'.
YEEZUS! .... lipsrsealed

Readone35L, do post a pic of the engine bay....saw some threads you came on at some point had mention of your SRT dodge Charger.

Even I am beginning to be skeptical with the salvage and conversion post.

auhanson: I should like to try this out. Pls how much is it? Can it work in w202 Benz c180?
I doubt if the Mercedes c180 has an aftermarket cold air intake.....The OEM ones are good enough.(the Germans take pride in their craftsmanship).

Besides the merc thread should have the required info or checkout BRABUS or REINTECH(Merc specific aftermarket shop).

Remember these r supporting mods. .u won't gain much or any noticeable gain.best u know what u want before burning N63k.

Yeah....classic.keeping it as clean as possible.all original parts.

U just can't go wrong rolling down the block in a classic car.they always turn heads.

But in nigeria.Only a few percentage appreciate the worth and nostalgia these cars exhume.

I would love to get the classic camry.

But my dream is the Classic Nissan 240Sx/S30 Datsun fairlady Z.

auhanson: jacksolo4me, boys aint that bad anymore in naija,we are great, believe me. Actually, if know what you want and how to get there and you guide them well , they will deliver to you. You wont go to the road side neither to the servicing giant, but simply pay a visit to a good spare part market , for instance like Ikoku in PH or "Alorji" in ABA(pls forgive my spelling). I f you went there , check inspect the market first you will marvel at wht you could see and the untapped skills that is available , then you could be convinced and negotiate your bills. They will marvell at your ideas and you will marvel at their skills.

Mechanically, i have taken a 1.8 litre 4 cylinder engine block to bore into a 2.3 diameter that could accommodate a 2.3 litre engine for bigger piston strokes to achieve a 2.3litre capacity performance. This was amazing, the chap was accurate with the diameter of the bore to fit accurately with the diameter of the standard 2.3 original piston strokes, rings and gasket bought from the market. It accommodated the rings and gasket perfectly without any need for refiling(what you need is a technician with accurate sense of measurement and carefulness to bore accurate hole for the engine piston storkes, and a good knowledge of your specific engine timing, the right size of the the rings and gasket with the metals and connecting rods. Well,to cut the long story short, the car became a 4 cylinder supersport sedan..though i may not know how much horsepower that has really achieved, except i start going into the calculation of that, but the performances and responses were just excellence, way too better than the previous engine and it wasn't that expensive to do. If i had money for low end turbo and superchargers , they could have installed it as well, and port the cylinderhead to compliment the intake manifo & exhaust modification to prevent excessive backward pressure. When i look at it, the cost of doing that could buy a whole fairly use high end vehicle(AMG)
I do know sir that such mechanics and technicians are in existence in Nigeria.

Equipments and the required test to guarantee whatever mechanical installations done to an engine.eg,engine swapping, porting, stroker kits are done properly and won't break or blow up an engine.

Nigeria would get there and I know we would...We have some extremely bright and knowledgeable minds here.We just need Organization and proven outcome that the rest of us would trust and relate to...

African Domestic Market...ADM!!!

elbedso: Lol you mean you spent all this money on these fancy lights and you couldn't even get alloy wheels? Why exactly pls ? Do you have actual reasons for not getting alloys?
Taste, parts/mods priority and overall the budget is pretty much the woes one faces when wanting anything aftermarket in a stock car.

I presume this may be the case so plz go easy everyone on whatever mod other than stock anyone does to his/her camry.

Car TalkBuying Tires For Your Sedan/suv/pick-up by Jacksolo4me(op): 8:07pm On Aug 27, 2014
Now here's the deal....I have a restoration on a 2001 toyota tundra v8 I'll be undertaking soon.

Went to get a tire and the dealer kept emphasizing I buy a brand I knew nothing of "Rapid - eco saver"- my guess flooded cheap Asian tire. Didn't buy it n insisted on a Triangle with rain grooves and deep thread grooves with solid tire walls...This he knew nothing about.

Anyway NL, What exactly do you look for when buying tires for your car/suv/pickup

Tire brand- brand Specific or dealer imposed.

Tire profile - Miss matched or All Same based on drive train.

Use - offroad/spirited/everyday A - B drive.

Let's hear it all.

Car TalkRe: Which Is Easier To Upgrade It's Performance, An Old Car Or A New One? by Jacksolo4me(m): 2:10pm On Aug 22, 2014
I think stock, The 2000 6.8 V10 comes with about 310hp. It's not a diesel.and I know it was previously a Government issued ride(it has an upgraded shock also)...I don't think da stock block without any performance mods could pull da bulletproof windows n reinforced door panels..There is no way.i drove it once n floored it (safe no traffic).

I swear I was so scared hoping it wouldn't stop in time.but damn it pulls like a mother#! $@/.
Car TalkRe: Which Is Easier To Upgrade It's Performance, An Old Car Or A New One? by Jacksolo4me(m): 1:59pm On Aug 22, 2014
CityNG: Do you care to share what he did to get over 200 horsepower on the gas engine?

The diesels, being turbo diesels, can use Banks Engineering products to get insane performance increase.
Actually it's an import - All I know is that apart from what was listed here there probably was some kinda re-flash done to its ECU(in his words "the brain was tinkered with"wink.n that to me is probably a chip.
.i saw another Ford excursion in abuja n it was nothing compared to this(stock).
Car TalkRe: Which Is Easier To Upgrade It's Performance, An Old Car Or A New One? by Jacksolo4me(m): 1:39pm On Aug 22, 2014
Alrite here's ma Old man's 6.8L V10 magnum Ford excursion with a K&N Long tube CAI with larger injectors and a titanium dual exhaust....that power plant is a monster.though it's toeing in a bulletproof rear.

It's tuned to chunk out close to 455HP(that's what I was told I knew some block work was done but don't have enough info)..it's now in storage.i tend to it from time to time.

Trust me Nigerians do modify there cars.Old or New..Though for my dad he preferred he's old Babe.

Car TalkRe: Which Is Easier To Upgrade It's Performance, An Old Car Or A New One? by Jacksolo4me(m): 5:26am On Aug 22, 2014
Got in touch with an ECU chipper in da UK to see if I could get a piggyback ECU for my car and the first thing he asked was the Model and year of the car followed with if it had an OBDII port.

So lucky me. Since I won't be taking the car overseas I can just pull out the ECU/ECM n come next month it's riding first class for a new map!

So I pretty much agree here.
Car TalkRe: Fastest Speed You Have Ever Driven: Car, Place, Time? by Jacksolo4me(m): 1:01pm On Aug 20, 2014
Being following silently....

I think there's a misunderstanding here...

The badge of a stock sedan/SUV/Truck tells little of what's under the hood(Engine type/Block/Cylinder capacity)

For eg.A Honda Accord has a 1.8L badge trim at the rear...what type of Engine does it have?

Do you know if it's a V6 transplant or a 2.4L Honda Vtec or its actual 1.8L Honda Unit Until the hood is popped open?

Or a toyota TRD emblem on a Toyota Corolla S means it's probably a V6 cos it has dual exhaust and looks FASThuh

Or Boko Haram grin

What CityNG point(s) is to an extent is that a badge emblem/Exhaust note tells little of what a car outputs...Please see reason for it is highly correct.

And I understand the point raised by you sir.a 115hp camry vs a 2.7L 159 hp truck..my two cents goes to your whooping da blizzard outta it...

Your 115hp camry vs a V6 245 hp truck with almost twice the weight would most probably be a tough one but you coming out on top.

Your 115hp camry vs a 2.4L 145 hp transplant on a tacoma?..how would we know if it was the actual engine in the car?

Now please enough with the Toyota Hilux super speed acceleration shunt(regardless of where or how it's driven it's still is a plus size model!)..No offense intended.

A cars indicated Speed (on a speedometer tells - As referenced close to how fast the object is moving through the air - True or Actual speed)-How fast the GL450 ran and overtook -True Speeds should be lower than that Except if u have some precision speed measuring device.

Basic aerodynamics speaks of Drag and Air resistance which it would need be calibrated(corrected for instrument/interference error)for it be considered accurate.

A cars weight is manufactured so it's in tandem with how much Power and toque is required to efficiently run the vehicle putting the consumer into perspective.(now why do we modify a slow heavy sedan?)

The GL450 example is plausible with SUV'S in its class.

The camry thread would soon have its first sacrificial donor car for engine mods grin.

Car TalkRe: Your Modified Camry ' S - Any Model by Jacksolo4me(op):
CityNG: Disclaimer: No app will ever match the result of a true dyno.

But I have had excellent luck with iPhone/Android apps such as Dynoliscious and stand alone measuring devices like GTech Pro.

They get me to be really close to what real dynos measure.

I can make changes and do a run and compare results to see the effects.

To get reasonable improvements on a car, you will need to cram the block open and install stroker kits, etc (change from 2.0 to 2.3, 2.5 etc) improve breathing in the cylinder heads and capacity.

The only worthwhile external mods is adding forced induction or nitrous kits.

No offense guys but having spent the past 3 weeks driving in Nigeria I had no desire to increase the performance of my Isuzu Rodeo, why you guys are clamoring for more power is beyond me.
Why does one stir at a beautiful bar girl when u've got a wife at home, Even though the road to winning her attention is rough and most probably we'l cost u ever so dearly? grin

Thank God it's a car.

I guess it'l be safe to say it's a person's desire, satisfaction and contentment.

Which your average person world over-myself inclusive suffers greatly from.

Thanks CityNG, I wished we had shops that could do block work and a Remap to suit the changes.

I would have loved to take on this project but putting all my odds together..it seems I'm a long way off getting a Camry that'l terrify most mid size sedans.

The learning curve and resources involved is steep. But I'll keep it a side project.
Car TalkRe: Your Modified Camry ' S - Any Model by Jacksolo4me(op): 10:32pm On Aug 16, 2014
Siena: I can guarantee you, you won't get anywhere near 50hp. You would struggle to get 15hp with external modifications, on a naturally-aspirated engine. Exhaust, intake mods and a remap MIGHT net you 10-12hp. For bigger gains, you'll be looking at head work, and a capacity increase (strokers work well).

Or go with a turbo conversion. You can run 6psi with stock internals, larger injectors, uprated FPR and a remap to suit.

But no, the mods you listed will not give you big gains. They'll improve driveability, make the engine more responsive, and power gains will be around 12hp.
Was just on with a friend and I told him the gains I wanted for my camry. ...Siena u went easy on me...."Let's just say he laughed for like 20 secs, said I read import tuner alot n said to sell the car and buy a car that'll give me 50hp more than what my camry was putting"

So I guess 12 hp over stock shouldn't be worth blowing close to 250k.

Thanks Siena. Better now than later.
Car TalkRe: Your Modified Camry ' S - Any Model by Jacksolo4me(op): 9:20pm On Aug 16, 2014
CityNG: This Camry has a turbo so it's a different animal.

The ideal way is to program the ECU for your specific upgrade.

The best way is to get your car on a dyne and then program a chip for that.

Most of us can't so the really good shops will ask you for your upgrades and then program a chip based on previous experiences.
That sure makes sense.i kept wondering why cars like the mercs n Bm'er don't have a cone shaped CAI instead of the box (to shield in da warm air from the engine bay - less dense air charge).thanks CityNG for that.

Like the Honda B16 and K20A motors I saw in da car shows I went on.
Most had a CAI installed and had usually done Stage 1 engine mods - No turbos.-Intake, Headers, ECU and exhaust work

I wish to go the same route on the camry. And would be taking on the project this September.

I'm hoping I can get a modest 35 - 50hp if done correctly.

Is it possible to run all the stage 1 mods without having a dyno to actually tell if there is any "reasonable power/torque made over the Usable Rev range"?

I don't even know if there is a dynometer in Nigeria, I believe though it should be available Just need to find out extensively.

Do hope I'd get your support in knowledge - I'm also doing a lot of research and readouts(Siena, CityNG, KA24DETT and a host of other bright minded sirs we have on Nairaland).

Thanks for the explanations.

And also I'd be hella grateful if you could enlighten me on the Chip tunning(non OBDII and OBDII)of a stock ECU...

Pros and Cons of custom mapping a stock ECU
Is it Efficient in terms of Engine Life and Durability?(manufacturers say yes - I'd need a hands on say)
Does it have to be a specific product for a brand of car or could any stage 1 performance chip piggy back right in with my stock ECU(my camry)?
What's da worse that could happen if I tried doing it myself? grin

Here's a pic of one i found on a Camry engine bay close to da ECM
