California has 55, Texas 38, NY 29, Florida 29 etc

States with smaller populations have fewer electoral college numbers eg Vermont with 3, Wyoming with 3 etc.

I doubt your claim. How come Hillary Clinton won majority votes in 2016 but defeated by Trump through electoral college.

She won majority votes in states with less number of electoral college, states with high number of electoral college are called swings state, those are the most important states.

For Example candidate A can win a majority votes with a margin of 5million in Tiger city, which has 10 electoral college, while candidate B can win in Lion city with a margin of just 1 million but lion city has electoral college of 30; candidate B will be declared winner, although Candidate A has the majority votes with a margin of 4million, but candidate B has higher electoral college votes which is 30 compared to 10.
