Health / Re: Nasiru Gwarzo: 80% Of Kano Coronavirus Samples Test Positive by jafardambatta: 7:47am On May 04, 2020
It is quit unfortunate that those that have never been to the North will always come online to abuse us unnecessarily, especially in Nairaland. For your information, majority of our people are not ignorant (this is a topic for another day).

Having 80% positive in Kano lab samples only shows how efficient and meticulous our health personnel are in getting those samples. You cannot just take your sample from everyone. You have to check for symptoms and contact history.

You don't have to comments on every trend, especially the topics that you are "ignorant" of.
Nairaland / General / Unical, Faculty Of Law Academic Fraud: Professor Demoted To Graduate Assistant, by jafardambatta: 8:41pm On Aug 19, 2019
There has been a twist in the Academic fraud saga surrounding the duo of Prof Worugji and Rev. Prof. Uhuka as the Academic Fraud Investigation Committee (AFIC) Unical has recommended the demotion of Rev. Prof. Uhuka from the rank of a Professor of Law to the rank of a Graduate Assistant with immediate effect while Prof. Worugji who has refused to submit the Original of his certificates including his Ph.D degree in Law certificate to the committee is going from one committee member to the other begging as usual to be salvaged from the shame.
Information has it that Prof. Worugji faced with the present onslaught by AFIC,has written to the University of Ibadan for correction of his Ph.D certificate which was obtained in May 2010. As at 2010 when Prof Worugji obtained his Ph.D certificate which reads"Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts", he was informed by the then Registrar of the University of Calabar that he was not eligible for promotion to the rank of a Professor of Law because he had not "obtained a Ph.D in Law degree". It remains a mystery how he wangled his way and got his promotion to the rank of an Associate Professor without a Ph.D degree in 2006.
Nine years after being told that he had not obtained a Ph.D degree in Law, Prof. Worugji has started the process of having his Ph.D certificate corrected to read his area of specialization "African Law". It is worthy to note that African Law is not a program of study, but an area of Specialization in the academic program of Core African studies, while A postgraduate programme in law (LLM, MPhil & Ph.D) under the NUC minimum standard for PG programme in Nigerian universities is required to be domiciled in the Faculty of Law.. Prof. Worugji clearly holds a Ph.D from the institute of African studies in the Faculty of Art, University of Ibadan as African Law is just one of the areas of specialization

Copy of Prof. Worugji's Ph.D certificate

The institute of African Studies runs a programme in CORE AFRICAN STUDIES as provided for in the institute brochure with various areas of specialization. Which include:
1. African History
2. African Law
3. African Music
4. African Visual Arts
5. Anthropology
6. Cultural and Media studies
7. Diaspora and Transnational Studies
8. Gender studies
9. Traditional African Medicine and belief system
10. Transformation studies in Africa.

One begins to wonder if a person who obtained a Ph.D in African Studies and specialized in Tradition African Medicine and belief systems from the Institute of African studies, University of Ibadan can become a professor of medicine in the university of Calabar ? The answer obviously is No. It is however even more fishy as the University if Ibadan where Prof Worugji obtained his PhD in African Studies also offers admission for post graduate studies in Law. Why Prof Worugj choose to do African Studies goes to show that Prof. Worugji lacks the basic requirements to do a postgraduate degree in law. According to our findings, Prof. Worugji was refused admission for similar reasons into the faculty of law in Obafemi Awolowo University. Ife and university of Ibadan.
Remember in our earlier report, we stated that Prof. Worugji claim of having obtained a B.A.(Hons) Law from the Manchester Metropolitan University - MMU was completely false as the Qualifying Law degrees awarded from the University in Question as published on their website https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/course/ba-businessmanagement-with-law is as follows.
i. LL.B (Hons) - Law with a foundation year - Full time.
Ii. LL.B (Hons) - Full time, Sandwich
Iii. LL..B (Hons) - Part time
The Big question then is, where did Prof. Worugji get his own B.A.(Hons) in Law degree from when the University he claimed to have graduated from has no such Law degree.
It is worthy to note that the Manchester Metropolitan University - MMU offers none qualifying Law degree in Law course such as B.A (Hons) in Business Management with Law and B.Sc (Hons) in Forensic Psychology. However it is expressly stated that in the Manchester Metropolitan university brochure that this two courses are not Qualifying Law degrees, so therefore it is shocking how Prof. Worugji got admission to the Nigerian Law school without a qualifying Law degree.
Our independent investigation further revealed that Prof. Worugji's WAEC is not his own, but that of a relative, hence the reason for his numerous change of name. From the Curriculum vitea used by Prof. Worugji, he claims to have made grade 1 in WAEC, and one begins to wonder how a man wlo claims to have made Grade 1 in WAEC would leave the shores of Nigeria to study HND in Business Studies and not Law and without first obtaining OND. What further raised curiosity is how Prof. Worugji finished his HND programme in just ONE YEAR.
The University of Calabar has however issued a stringent warning to Prof. Worugji to cooperate with the committee or face severe disciplinary actions. This was contained in a letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. Moses Abang to Prof. Worugji.

On the demotion of Rev. Prof Uhuka to the rank of a graduate assistant, it has bee discovered;

1. That Rev. Prof. Uhuka has no first degree from the university of Abuja as he claimed, but from the British America University. This is questionable.

2. That Rev. Prof. Uhuka was not called to the Nigerian Bar or any other Bar around the globe.

3. That Rev. Prof. Uhuka holds a questionable Masters of Law (LL.M) degree as the LL.M degree was obtained barely 2 weeks after obtaining his first degree.

4. That Rev. Prof. Uhuka has no Ph.D degree but records show that he is a doctoral candidate. This is also questionable.

5. That Rev. Prof Uhuka has zero University teaching experience.

6. That Rev. Prof. Uhuka has no evidence of Publication amongst others hence the recommendation for his demotion from the rank of a Professor of Law to the rank of a Graduate Assistant.
7. Further from his CV he claimed he obtained a diploma in 1980 and WAEC in 1989. Please tell us which comes first.
Rev. Uhuka has however absconded as he is no where to be found in the University due to fear of he being handed over to the Police or ICPC for further investigation.

omonaijiria:

Stop confusing yourself.

NJC must recommend so in this case.

This judgment is totally different

Find another thing to say

Zombies and BMV bring it on
The complaint upon which the NJC can exercise its powers of investigation is one bordering on the judicial misconduct which a judge committed in the course of discharge of his duties as a judicial officer. This includes taking any step to subvert the course of justice in a particular case before him or any judge such as taking bribe among others. In this regard, the NJC will first investigate such judge and then subsequently take appropriate disciplinary action against him. After this, he or she may be prosecuted either on the recommendation of the NJC or not. But where a judge is alleged to have committed an offence not in the course of discharge of his responsibility as a judge, then the court or tribunal which the law creating the offence he contravened confers jurisdiction can validly try him. Thus, if a judge is alleged to have committed an offence bordering on money laundering, drug trafficking, rape among others, the Efcc, Ndlea and the police can validly arraign him before any court of competent jurisdiction like any other Nigerian. In the case at hand, there are allegations that the CJN has not declared his assets with the CCB as well as he maintains a foreign domiciliary accounts full of dollars and Euros contrary to the provisions of the law in his capacity as a public servant or officer this time not as a judicial officer. Like any other public officer such as a Vice Chancellor of a public university in Nigeria, he or she can be legally tried by the Code of Conduct Tribunal for contravening the provisions of the law relating to same. After all, the CJN does not enjoy immunity from prosecution. As provided by section 308 of the 1999 constitution as amended, only the president, vice president, Governor and Deputy Governor enjoy immunity from prosecution. CJN is not included. Any attempt to say that the CCT cannot try him will amount to conferring him with immunity from prosecution. Thus, those who are saying he has to be referred to NJC do not appreciate the provisions of the constitution which clearly distinguish the offence which must be refertrd to NJC and those that are not. No matter the number of SAN that are available for his defence notwithstanding the law will take its course. CJN is not above the law like any other Nigerian. The trial will create impression that the rule of law is in operation in the country. Let him face his trial. If he is not guilty, he would be discharged and acquitted. We are watching

Education / Re: Religious Tension Forces Closure Of Federal University, Katsina by jafardambatta: 7:51pm On Jun 03, 2017
emmasege:
Federal University in Dutsin-ma in Katsina state has been shut down - The university was shut down over religious tension - Muslim students accused the former Vice Chancellor, James Ayatse, of favoring Christians in filling academic and non-academic vacancies Christians and Muslims are allegedly facing each other in what can be described as religious crises in Katsina.

The alleged brewing tension between minority Christians and a larger body of Muslim students have resulted in the closure of the Federal University in Dutsin-ma in Katsina state by the university’s management according to Sahara Reporters.

NAIJ.com understands that the crises started on Friday when Islamic students at the university mobilized and protested against Christian employees at the university. Andrew Moses, a security guard at the University, who spoke to Sahara Reporters said that: “We saw strange faces stationed at Academic Department housing the university management staff, including the Vice Chancellor. When we inquired about their mission, they simply said, ‘We are here for jihad against Christians in the university.’” While reacting to the incident, a lecturer at the university who asks not to be mentioned said that the crises has been a long standing one. According to him, it started when Muslim students accused the former Vice Chancellor, James Ayatse, of favoring Christians in filling academic and non-academic vacancies. He noted further that the boiling over of the crises was a result of a court order which recently reinstated Haruna Kaita.

Acccording to Sahara Reporter's source: “Professor Kaita came to the university with a group of Muslims who threatened to deal with any Christians working here,” referring to the Federal Government-owned university. He said further that Muslim students backing Mr. Kaita mobilized other Muslims groups from Dutsin-ma town to support their mission of sending the Christians away from the federal university. It was also gathered Samuel Zumve, the interim chairman of the Academic Staff Union of the Universities (ASUU), equally mobilized some Christian students who came together “prepared to defend their Christians fellows in the university.

” Police officers have however been deployed around the university to forestall religious violence in the town and the university.

Meanwhile, chairman of the university Senate, Bichi, has ordered immediate closure of the university until normalcy returns.

KWANKWASO ESTABLISHES
BOARDING SCHOOL FOR
BORNO CHILDREN
Kano state governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso today (Tuesday) commissioned the Borno Orphans Model Boarding Primary School in Kano city. The school was constructed by the government of Kano state under its Special Intervention Progamme for the orphaned children affected by the insurgency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states. Speaking during the occasion, Gov. Kwankwaso revealed that as its brothers’ keeper, his administration was moved by the condition of internally displaced children leading it to design the school to accommodate 100 pupils from Borno state.

“The special intervention programme is aimed at taking up full responsibilities of 100 children,
who are between the ages of 5-6 whose parents are either dead, displaced or lost as a result of the insurgency”, the governor stated. Kwankwaso explained that under the boarding school arrangement, “the state government will take care of the children’s education, training, upbringing, feeding, clothing,
security, health care and accommodation”. According to him, Kano state government will continue to
look after the children until they complete basic education, if the security situation in the states affected by the insurgency improves and when it is safe for them to return home.

He stated that the plight of the children who have been deprived of parental care and concern as a result of the security challenges in North eastern Nigeria was brought to his attention by NEMA and other
concerned state holders. Governor Kwankwaso, therefore, implored the Federal Government, state governments and other well-meaning individuals and groups to come to the aid of the orphans to make their lives more meaningful. The governor revealed that the state Commissioner for Health has been directed to appraise the medical condition each of the pupils with a view to identifying those that need special medical care, for necessary action. Turning to the pupils, Kwankwaso counseled them not to be
discouraged by their condition but to pay attention to moraland academic excellence because they are potential leaders of tomorrow.

In her remarks, the Borno state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Fanta Baba Shehu
said: “Not even the Federal Government has done what you did for us today”, adding that Kwankwaso has written his name in gold in the history of Borno state. The Commissioner, who went ahead to tell the gathering the plight of the children, whom she said, lost their family members and homes, could not complete her speech as she abruptly burst into tears. In their respective remarks, which were very emotional, three of the pupils, Ibrahim Maina, Saidu Ishaku and Muhammad Idris thanked Governor
Kwankwaso for his compassion and prayed Almighty Allah to guide and protect him.

Others who spoke during the occasion including the Emir of Kano, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, represented by Dangoribar Kano, Alhaji Ado Kura, the state ESSPIN Coordinator, Hajiya ‘Yardada Maikano and the representative of NEMA, Musa Ilallah stressed the need for concerted efforts to protect and
educate children from insurgency affected states. Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, fnge, mni Director of Press and Public Relations to the Executive Governor of Kano state,

You need to graduate with either first class or 2:1, with that you can apply for graduate assistant or you wait till you finish your masters then you can apply for assistant lecturer position. Any other position above assistant lecturer required certain number of publications and seminar/conference attendance.

Best of luck.
