Bigkoko: Stop making Banjo look like an idiot....or a quota system korofo of present day Nigeria. A Col was conscripted? Do you know what a it means to be a top level army officer? I don't mean these present beer parlour Cols.
One moment he was leading an invasion, which he halted, the next moment he was conscripted. But the moment he delayed and allowed the Brits to arm federal Forces, he didn't deem it necessary to switch sides but went back to Biafra!
You say it is a tribal conquest but he still went back? And if Gen Ojukwu had used his trusted Commanders like Joe Achuzie, you all would have shouted to high heavens how Igbos tried to invade Yorubas, and were stopped at Ore, whereas na fulanis naim dey invade people land.
Bruh keep quiet make i no go talk the one snake eye mod go take ban person. I no say he dey waka kuruke dey find who he go ban....

Bigkoko: If I begin talk now, it will look like chestbeating. Nigeria as presently constituted is not feasible, neither does it have a future.....
The best would have been devolution of powers, in manageable regions, and the worse which is steadily cropping up, would be, the hardliners from SE would over ran and declare their country, just when the bandit's and kidnappers Boko Haram and their sponsors have taken over the North and Middle belt. The SW would be too carried away in it's internal displacement via attack's from herders and terrorists to even know what is going on... Then, Nigeria would fall on its own. Is that what you want?
Break the behemoth into manageable pieces...and allow the regions to run a free and fair Govt based on what it considered ok! E.g the SE adopting Judaism, Christianity, Omenani etc as religion, the North adopting Saudi Islam or Iran's Islam and the SW adopting a weird mix of chris-lam, sangoism, olukoism etc.
The people will win, while the politicians would lose! So Nigerîà is so bad that u can't give ur community clean water, good schools, good and quality roads, better housing, good and affordable hospitals? Really? I am not bothèrèd about what happens to Nigeria actually, I am bothered about the people and how good their life is. I am not really inclined to what happens to One Nigerîà or divided Nigerîà. |

Bigkoko: Firstly I appreciate your civility even though we have different principals and principles.
As you rightly puts it, "he halted" the invasion. That's called disobedience in military. And if the reasons are found, it could be treasonous and it carries the death penalty. That's why he was shot. Just for the naysayers.
Mid West is to be a buffer zone that protects the West from the east and vice versa. Mid West has almost all the major tribes as indigenes. Yorubas, Itsekhiri, Igbos, Anioma, Ukwanis etc so who temporarily leads show not have been a clear reason.
By your own account, a subordinate has the temerity to object his C-in-C appointments, not even in a civilian govt but a military one that's currently fighting a war of survival? Nd for that he decided to wreck a Plan tha would free his offsprings? Nnaaa you are better than this....
Gen David Ejoor preferred neutrality while events unfolds. He was approached for leadership. But it looks like the gbajue spirit from sango was so strong. Other notable leaders from mid West were in hiding and afraid due to pogroms not so far off. So in that situation, you expect Ojukwu to distract his field commanders with political leadership? Or go start begging people to come take over leadership? Let's be rational please!
It appears you do not know Ojukwu....or maybe it's the Ojukwu of the Nigerian Media houses...... Ojukwu simply loathes the fulanis, not even the Hausas or Yorubas. He just want free people who knotow to no one, not even the Brits, French or Soviets. Otherwise, he would have trade off one slave master for another....
But that's against the culture of the SW and North I think..... Banjo didn't join Biafra because he wanted to join, he was conscripted and had to join because Ojukwu released him from prison in the East, he was jaiIed by Ironsi, he petitioned him but was set to be kiIIed. Now you are saying there's no high ranking official in Ojukwu's rank that is from the Midwest that should be made to rule? Banjo saw it as a tribaI conquest, there's no reason why Ojukwu would want to Subdûe the West and be the decision maker. Banjo refused to sell his people to the lgb0s, that's a fact, if it was not a tribaI conquest, Ojukwu wouldn't have èxècuted him. Ojukwu had no intention to Iibrate anybody, his intentions was to create a country where his trîbè wiII reign supreme, Banjo simply refused to be used as that tooI, Ojukwu kiIIèd him and started Iosing the wàr. If Ojukwu was as strong as u are painting him now, he would have taken over Lagos without Banjo. |

Bigkoko: He was a military man and had his orders, which is to led a liberation task force and free his people from Britain set up! He had all he needs including brave, loyal Igbo commandos willing to die following his orders! He got so close to his military object and stopped?
Why? ??
He had the final military signal for a final onslaught, probably a coordinated spearhead so the West won't see it like it's an its an Igbo conspiracy and invasion. Why did he not relate the signals to the fronts for a push!
Why did he try to entrench in Ore, rather than Lagos?
Why ?
Well, we all knew. He wasn't totally cool with a homogeneous Oduduwa country where the Yorubas would develop alongside the Igbos as separate entities! U foIks are so great at thwarting history but it can never change. He haIted his invasion because he cleared the Midwest for Ojukwu, Ojukwu went ahead and appointed Albert Okonkwo as governor of Midwest, Banjo objected to it as he said someone who's indigenous should be made the leader. Ojukwu wanted him to move West, break it away from Nigeria and he will be appointed leader of Midwest but Ojukwu will sanction orders for West, he said whoever will lead the west should be an equal not a subordinate, Ojukwu also objected. Tell me again, will any lgb0 man invade his own home today to be under a leader in SW? The deal Ojukwu offered was to bring SW under his rule. Why do u foIks love thwarting history yet u foIks are the cause of all that started? |

SoNature: Drop the attacks; he raised a thought-provoking point. Each government has its pros and cons. With the level of mutual suspicion, hate and bigotry we have in Nigeria, democracy doesn't work.
On the other hand, if soldiers decide to execute a project, no Jupiter can stop it.
How does one explain that the military built all four refineries but bloody civilians cannot build one 25 years later?
In fact, some of the best projects we have in Nigeria (like the Third Mainland Bridge) were built by the military while bloody civilians keep sharing money. So civilians decides to execute a project, Jupiter stops it? Many of u have no idea about military regime. Do u know the level of Ióótiñg that went down in military regime? U dón't even have ur freedom as an individual. The default settings in Nigeria today that soldiers are always right or a soldier will do anything and nobody will ask why is the side effects of military regime, those days a soldier could walk into a rural market and pick whatever he likes without paying and nobody will say anything. That idea is still on in the society and many of u who don't have the slightest idea about military regime thinks it's great. There were so many projects that started in the early 70's under military regime and we're abandoned till Buhari came back to power in 2015, most part of the abandoned years were military regimes. Warri-Itakpe rail started construction in 1987, when was it done? Nigerian Airways, Refineries, steel mines, ALSCON all started decaying under military rule. Under military rule, it was said telecommunications is not for the póór. U folks yearning for military rule were toddlers in the 90's and probably don't read. |

Tell me how is production of steel here at an expensive price going to help development What makes u think that if investors comes in with large production, it will be more expensive? Moreover, better quality should be more expensive. If the steels are better, then they should be more expensive. Just like a particular kind of wire, the one made in Nigeria is more durable and more expensive compared to the one imported from China, so Nigeriàñs should stop making the durable ones because of the cheaper ones from China? The steel industry is owned by China we don't have comparative advantage ( meaning it's impossible to make locally made steel cheaper than imported ones)
Allow cheap steel import from China... Let's focus on what we can export to China to balance the trade ( for me Cassava chips is the most obvious solutions)
This is how economy works We should be importing steel when we can produce steel? Producing steel has more advantage than importing steel. Bringing in more private individuals to locally invest in steel production is more advantageous than importing. |
