As in!! It’s so annoying how people just depend on these agents when they can easily do everything themselves
BigIyanga:

Go and fix your problem. We tolded you and kept tolding you to avoid agents…. Use agent if you’re applying for B1/B2… not for F1!
Take ownership of your journey. If you didnt know about ur Sevis expiration .. how did you do your application??
Keep using 3rd party info merchants, why cant you task yourself to find out things from primary sources like your school and US Embassy site?

oh yeah you can. But they almost always bring it up
Blessed4sure:

Thanks so much for your advice.

I really appreciate.

I didn't intend lying about it though. Just wanted to know if I should be silent about it unless the interviewer brings it up.

If you’re on F2, and intend converting to F1, I think you’d still have to come back to Nigeria for an interview (I stand to be corrected). I don’t think there’s a reason to lie about your wife’s F1 status, she probably filled in your details on her Ds 160 when she was applying for F1. You’d have to come up with very strong home ties.

Hello House,

Please, i need your kind response to this enquiry.

Thank you 🙏🙏

Good morning everyone,
My passport expires in November 2025, will it make sense to renew it now before traveling? My program starts in august.

Did mine during covid, so it was online.
Before the exam, ensure you get a good laptop. (Any laptop with “activate windows” on the desktop wont work).

On the day of the exam you do all necessary registrations, it’s extremely important to sign in on time. You can start the exam a couple of hours after signing in, I had to change laptops 3 times.
When you start the exam, the first thing you do is show the examiner around your room and around your desk. For Your sitting position, you must back the main entrance.

If you face any network problem, your test will stop and you’ve to show the examiner around the room once you restart. You start with an essay (Analytical writing), before heading into the test proper. You’ll either start with quant or verbal, it’s quite random. You get breaks in between as well, until you’re done.

Lastly, the more you answer correctly the harder the test gets. And vice versa

Someone should tell us how his/Her GRE test experience went

Good evening house
For f1 students, do we need to get a return ticket when booking a flight?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 5:31pm On Apr 27, 2023
I think emergency appointment is 60 or 90 days before your program start date. Please verify online
judas001:
One more question, is it okay if I request for an emergency now ( my resumption date is August) or wait till when is close by? Sorry for the many questions, this is my first time.

I saw Pay4Me App online. But I don't know how reliable it is.
Please do you advise I use the app?
What other ways do you think I can use?
Thanks.

Not to be judgmental or anything, but why’d you go for 4 months without logging on to the portal?
There was an update on the platform sometime in February/ March by the embassy. So most people had their dates rescheduled to September. You’re most likely one of them. You need to start hustling for a new date, or apply for Emergency.
They sent a mail when the dates were rescheduled, unless you don’t check your mails too.
judas001:
I need help, please. Has anyone ever seen this before in this forum? I scheduled my interview since Dec 2022. after working with the school to move my admission to July/August. So with this, I scheduled my interview for early July 2023. Since then I have not login to my profile. I log in this afternoon only to discover multiple interview cancellations on my profile( which obviously were not done by me). And they now scheduled a new date which is around September for me. I'm really surprised, at this point, I don't know what to do or figure out what is going on.
N.B. Nobody has my login info, beside me. I never use an agent or any other person.

wait for his response
Joiceee:
Hello guys! Please I need your input on this matter. After I applied for a Master's program, a professor reached out to me for an interview. During the interview, he mentioned that there was a research assistantship position if I get in. Shortly after the interview, he emailed me that I have been accepted, and an official acceptance letter would be forwarded to me. The thing is I have received the acceptance letter but it says nothing about funding, I have emailed the prof twice on the funding letter but no response. Please what do I do? 🥺🥺🥺

The VOs usually don’t want to see your bank statements. Best to send the statement to your school and have them update your i-20
Jsmithlvdame:
Hi guys, pls I need clarification on POF. I have a deficit of 14.5k (Health insurance and living expenses), and I'm about to use an agent to raise the money. Please, what and what should I look out for. And will I submit the account statement to the embassy before the interview day?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 1:23pm On Apr 22, 2023
That makes sense, please share it if you can. I think what matters most with these VOs is how well you can defend your case.
krcboy:

they do, I know of a lady we dey same whatsapp undergrad group she got approved last year she was 28years old all she had to do was bring her story to life and fill the gap years that she had and boom approved. Age matters but at same time they know sometimes life dont go as planned. i will look for her transcript and share here.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 11:46am On Apr 22, 2023
she can say she’s in school but wants to leave because of the inconsistencies caused by the frequent ASUU strikes. The VOs don’t like educational gaps, if she says she has been working with her mum for 8 years I don’t think they’d believe she’s a bonafide student.
Another thing, I noticed the VOs rarely approve people in their 20s going for an undergraduate degree. But I stand to be corrected.

PeachtreeReside:
Kindly advise.

An Aunt of mine got some folks in the US who want to pay for her daughter's tuition .

The daughter is 22yrs and a part 2 Student in Nigeria.

She was asked to say she is not in school u
yet just helping her mum at her business.

I told her that it might make her look less worthy a candidate to come and study in the US.

I told her to tell the daughter to say she is in school but would want to study abroad in order to graduate earlier than her peers.

Kindly advise please.

Thank you

He should focus on proving home ties. Job, relatives, etc

HighPriest0:
Guys.. My friend just got a fully funded MSc program in florida.

Would the scholarship make his visa approval 90 percent sure??

Because he's still struggling to raise money for sevice fee and visa fee and I'm looking to help him.

Those who got fully sponsorship.. What's your experience??
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 10:42am On Apr 21, 2023
You can try convincing the VO
They’ll probably ask why the company is giving you a study leave after working with them for just one year.
Davegabriel:
I learnt the designing work I'm doing on the company but I was fully recruited as a worker on January. I have gotten my study leave letter already but I don't know if that'll be a problem for me coz I want to go with the letter on my interview day. The vo might think it's not possible but I've been with the company for A year plus
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 12:09am On Apr 21, 2023
I think you can. You might not even have the opportunity to show them the statements. The VOs really don’t like looking at documents, so most times they don’t ask. Just ensure your story is convincing enough and that you can defend it properly.
punchyy:
@ everyone is it okay to take two bank statements for interview, when you only stated one account on your 120? The account belongs to mum and husband. Mothers bank statement covers everything for a year.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 12:06am On Apr 21, 2023
This isn’t possible
Companies put you on probation for 3-6 months before you’re even confirmed. For a study leave, 3 years or more
Davegabriel:
Hello everyone
Can a company offer four years study leave to someone who has worked with them for just 3 months?

Need help !

Sisib15:
You can use Pay4me app. And you can check the previous page. Someone dropped how you can pay the sevis fee there

Good day house,

Please does anyone have a reliable method of paying the SEVIS fee? It’s quite urgent
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Jahard: 3:00pm On Mar 30, 2023
Good afternoon house,
I want to ask, if I don’t have a deficit’ on my I-20, do I need to go along with my bank statement for my visa interview? I’ve a full tuition scholarship and I used a student loan to cover the cost of attendance. So I’ve no deficits
