Happening live, taxi drivers on rampage after alleged killing of their member by the task force officials. The drivers barricaded roads all the way from wuse market down to the popular Berger junction. Heavy smoke from burning tyres and debris. Drivers were prevented from carrying passengers or will risk their windshields broken...... Commuters had to trek long distances to get vehicles. No sign of police or security officials....... ABDUCTED TRIO RESCUED The police in Abuja have rescued the trio of Veronica Otogo, Bisola Mohammed and Damilola Oribuyaku. They were yesterday reunited with their family, friends and well wishers after an anxious, tension soaked 9day search and social media advocacy campaign for their safe return. Our investigation revealed that the kidnappers had demanded for $300,000 at $100,000 per person but the relations could only raise N1,000,000 only which the desperate kidnappers accepted. TMNews crime reporter disclosed that, when they trio were first abducted, they were taken to somewhere along Kaduna road but were taken back to Mpape while the negotiations for their release were ongoing. They were eventually dropped off along Kubwa road after receipt of the N1,000,000. Sources revealed that the kidnappers were all Igbos and that the victims were treated fairly. They were however unable to talk directly to us due to the shock of the incident. Recall that the trio were kidnapped on the 27th of January 2017 after a brief outing to purchase cakes and pizza for the celebration of Veronica's birthday from Chloe's cupcakes and Dominos Pizza in Wuse 2. The kidnappers had appeared dressed as men of SARS and sped away with the victims after a scuffle, leaving behind Damilola's car at the scene. When contacted, one of the Police officers involved in the rescue operations advised citizens to be vigilant and avoid situations that could make them susceptible to kidnap. He however assured that the Police is on ground to prevent future occurrences and defend citizens as the case maybe. He also fired a shot of warning to criminals in the FCT to have a rethink before the long arm of the law, catches up with them. |
