edoyad: And they call me ignorant ? You think Arsenal depend on two players to score all our goals ? Our central defenders have outscored most of your players.
Whether Arsenal have scored just a half goal more than you, they out scored you- not forgetting we've played a game less. Two of our losses were away against genuine title contenders. Umhh just who has Chisky played away this season ? Ashley Cole, Malouda, Lampard, Essien, Joe cole, Ivanovic, Kalou, Deco, Ballack have all scored for us this season, so wt you on abt |

~Sauron~: How so, rent boy?
Are you a goat? Is it May yet? What if Rooney scores 5 goals in the next league game or Walcott scores 10 in the next league game to leap-frog Defoe? The team would be built around Wayne Rooney and the striker that gels well with Rooney is the favourite and that is HESKEY!!!! Can you present an argument without resorting to insults, I know you sell gala in Idumota (it's in the DNA) but can you just pretend like you are related to Einstein , learn to communicate with maturity and class like debosky, until then we have no debate |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread by jalether(m): 11:06pm On Nov 23, 2009 |
debosky: Mr jalether why are you changing arguments? A few seconds ago, Defoe's position as highest goalscorer was sufficient to go to SA, now you realise it's not?
The truth is that Defoe is not guaranteed a place to SA - Darren Bent might still outscore him, and at least he's been able to score against the big sides unlike Defoe.
The fact remains that Heskey is the best foil for Rooney at the moment, hence the starting two are picked. The other two will be chosen based on their ability to offer something different, which is where Crouch comes in, and maybe even Carlton Cole, who has shown he can plough upfront as the lone man and bang in goals, even in a poorly performing team like West Ham. I assume you didn't read sauron's post ~Sauron~: Scoring 5 goals in a match against a spineless Wigan does not guarantee a world cup slot. Besides, Defoe hasn't emerged the highest goal scoring English striker yet. The season is still at an embryonic stage. Nothing has been won yet. Owen has a bigger chance going to the world cup than Defoe. That is what I responded to. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread by jalether(m): 11:03pm On Nov 23, 2009 |
~Sauron~: Capello does not have any ultimate say. He will bend to the words of his employers. Theo Walcott never played in the EPL before Eriksson took him to Germany in 2006. . . .ahead of Defoe!!! There's politicking everywhere, you dumbass!!! Now you are diverting from the basis of this argument, ~Sauron~: Scoring 5 goals in a match against a spineless Wigan does not guarantee a world cup slot. Besides, Defoe hasn't emerged the highest goal scoring English striker yet. The season is still at an embryonic stage. Nothing has been won yet. Owen has a bigger chance going to the world cup than Defoe. Care to explain the bolded parts or forever keep shut |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread by jalether(m): 10:50pm On Nov 23, 2009 |
~Sauron~: David Dein and Sir Trevor Brooking made sure Defoe didn't make that world cup. With the way things are, the FA's politricks would come into PLAY again. A rookie striker has a better chance than Defoe. As long as Sir Brooking is alive, Defoe has no chance in South Africa(Y'all can mark me words).
Use your horse sense for once, you rent boy. This has nothing to do with Defoe's ability or goal scoring prowess. . . . .He stepped on toes in the season West Ham got relegated. Don't you get tired of the rent boy phrase, wt does it mean anyways , what toes did defoe step on , afterall I taught Capello had the ultimate say and not bleeding Trevor /Dein , wake up dude, we are not talking abt Naija here, does that also explain why Bent (England's highest goal scorer) was left out |

dayokanu: How can anyone make this comparison? Berbatov is the laziest player on the planet.
Adebayor is miles better than Berbatov. Adebayor almost single handledly led Togo to the World cup tell me what Berbatov has ever done to match this.
The Bulgarian FA even complained about Berbatov running 2000m in 90minutes of football
Most people dissing Adebayor are probably bitter Assanal fans
Adebayor has scored 5 goals this season despite the ban tell me how many goals Berbasuck has

Can you please make a strong case for Walcott's 2006 WC shortlist at the expense of D.Bent and Defoe Stop chatting bollocks mate, if you have to emerge the highest goalscorer in the EPL to make the WC then Rooney, Owen, Walcott, Heskey shouldn't have featured at the world cup, as a matter of fact that will make only one player eligible going by your line of argument. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread by jalether(m): 10:10pm On Nov 23, 2009 |
debosky: Can you kindly present your own viewpoints without sounding like a slowpoke? Kevin Phillips was once the 'England's highest goal scorer' and was still a fringe member at best of the National team. Till Defoe's 5 goal haul, Bent was 'England's highest goal scorer' and was still bound to be left at home. . .what point are you making?
Crouch brings what none of the other strikers can bring, making him unique. . .if I need to explain that to you then there's no need even engaging in a discussion.
Yes he will because those teams will play their hearts out for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Besides, England will face opposition other than the poor teams in the tournament that you listed. Yet again you have not made any sense whatsoever, In regards to Kevin Phillips, some managers are just stupid. Messi was a fringe player at the last world cup despite his quality and form, why don't you go ahead and defend the manager's decision if that won't make you sound like a retard, I dare you |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread by jalether(m): 9:48pm On Nov 23, 2009 |
debosky: SA = South Africa (world cup)
Defoe's goal haul was against hapless Wigan, with calamitous Bramble in tow. . . needless to say you will not get such shambolic defending at the World Cup. Defoe is in a rich vein of form, but the crucial answer for the England set up is: who will partner Rooney?
While Defoe is good, he doesn't appear to bring the best out of Rooney, hence Heskey or even Carlton Cole might get the nod ahead of him. I think he will make it to SA, but at the expense of someone like Owen. If you can only take four strikers, I suspect even Defoe might be in danger. The only confirmed name on the plane is Rooney, and any three from Heskey, Cole, Crouch, Bent and Defoe. If I was to pick, I'd take Heskey, Crouch and Defoe. . . but then again, with Heskey's lack of playing time he might find himself in a bit of bother, allowing CC to sneak through.
It is highly unlikely that Defoe will start at the world cup, unless the other strikers (bar Crouch) are unfit, or Capello has qualified for the second round and gives him a run out in the third group game. NL never fails to disappoint, I have never seen so many poppycocks in a single post, you will leave England's second highest goal scorer in the EPL behind while peter crouch gets on the plane to SA , It will be astonishing if anyone else on NL agrees with your rather weird choice According to your sense of reasoning Defoe would find it difficult to score against teams like New Zealand, Nigeria, slovakia,North Korea Honduras et al at the world cup, Jesus truly wept SMH |

Still not much different compared to last season, except for Utd who are better now than they were at the same stage last season. Replace Villa with Spurs and things are nearly the same as last season. . . The next couple of games will show whether anything has truly changed.
