FamilyRe: Living Without My Spouse For 6 Months (At Least) by JallowBah(op): 12:59am On Nov 07, 2012
Alright, right over 3 weeks now..smiley
I am happy. And staying strong. I hope he is doing the same, he keep much of his thoughts to himself, I guess it makes it easier for him down there.

I am training our daughter in greeting in fulani. And every single time, she looks at me and goes "baba." As in "mama, this aint your language, don`t be foolish. I know."
Lol.

I just discovered that there is one, ONE gambian person living in my hometown. And, tamtataaaam; he speaks fulani! Imagine my joy og being able to practice it again, oh laaawd. He is from about 10min with a car from where we live down there. I love it, it gives me a piece of Gambia. Plus, I am used to having gambians and fulani-talk around me, now I just want him to meet our daughter, so she get small input as well. It`s good for her, and me.

And, on friday, I will be going out on the town for the first time in 2,5months. I have helped arrange a reggae/dancehall-night here, I just hope people will show up. Its a small town, not many africans who live here either, so..we will see. I will be standing in a corner, doing my thaaang, like I always do anyway, so.

And, I have packed one full suitcase of give-aways. Clothes for babies, kids, men and women. Which means I barely have room for my own clothes to go. But you know women..I will be shopping down there, I dont need to bring much clothes. It is going to be so damn good to see my hubby. To go to the village and see his family again. The brothers, their wifes, all the kids.."Yaye toubaaaaab" they call me. Lol.
And my husbands "dad". His second dad. He has been like an extra father-figure his whole life, and he is such a caring and wonderful, old man. I have a special gift for him.

Not long, not long..

Ivynwa: @Jallow

It doesn't sound right to me for a man or a woman to "demand for their spouse's password" in order to use it to confirm their faithfulness. Isn't that an invasion of privacy and space of another? It is even more than that----think about it.

How are you doing girl?
If my husband cheated on me, and wanted me to REGAIN the trust he effed up..well, that would be the least he could do.

I am good girl, and you?smiley

tavon: Pay no attention to them baby. Your asssss is perfect and your stomach is just right
Well, you are giving me right on my point heresmiley Beauty is different from person to person, country to country.

You might think I look good, the society is telling me something else. And, again; according to BMI, I am fat.

Tolaaaaannni: Ikr, it is really sickening how our society has this perception on what people are suppose to look like, and when people don't fit into this perception they are viewed as cast outs. It's so funny how people depend on the Body Mass Index to tell them if they are healthy or not, when really the B.M.I is not very accurate and isn't a good tool to depend on. I mean think about it, how much can your height and weight really tell you about your health?? I just find it ludicrous that i had to argue with a moro.n about how "fat" people can be healthy, when really it is common sense. But the common mind can't figure that out, because they depend so much on a misleading tool (B.M.I) to tell them about what is acceptable and what isn't.
I know!

And I must say, I find that somewhat liberating with africans, both women and men. ( Well, Gambians/Senegalese/Kenya, since thats the africans I know..) The women are damn PROUD of their hips, butts, small bellies, thick thighs..They look like WOMEN, and they seem to embrace it. In Gambia, they prefer more fat women, cause they want strong women, not chickens who cant carry heavy buckets.

I am not saying that skinny women can not be beautiful, but lets face it; There are different views on beauty in the world.
In my country, they want you to sun-tanned, have blond and shiny VIBRANT hair, and be a perfect size 0.
Size 0 would maybe fit my under-arms.

Blah.

If you have any reason to belive your spouse is cheating ( he/she have done it before, fex ), then yes.
But just because you feel like it..? Nah.
HealthRe: How Do You View Fat People? by JallowBah(f): 4:50pm On Nov 06, 2012
Tolaaaaannni: If we want to argue about weight, I can also point out that those conditions also apply to being too skinny or developing some sort of eating disorder (Aneroxia, bullimia e.t.c) The truth of the matter is, the only way to live a healthy lifestyle is by eating healthy and exercising regularly and being metabolically fit. Be it fat or skinny or anything in between if you don't practice a healthy lifestyle you are prone to many diseases and condition. That doesn't only just apply to fat people alone.
Many people seem to think that skinny = healthy.
My brother is a good example; he can eat and drink as much junkfood as he wish, still he won`t gain weight. He is naturally skinny, and probably look more healthy than me to many people. But the fact is that his doctor has told him to cut down the bull-food, cause his blood-tests are NOT ok, and he dont have much energy either.

Look at my picture. According to western society and BMI, I am considered fat, and should loose 10kg to be in the "healthy" side of BMI.
But..I have taken tests. Everything is as healthy as it can be, if you look beside the fact that I am smoking.
I have pictures of me being 10kg lighter, and I dont like what I looked like then. I was living on one slice of bread and one apple every day to go there, and stay there, and I looked SICK; bones sticking out, no energy, etc, etc.

As long as you are not OBESE to the fact that it is heavy to move, you CAN be fat and healthy. Eat healthy food, be active.

eagle,eye:
so what happens after you told them, and they decide to withhold their blessing. Actually objecting to your union based on the things you have told me. Saying things like..... "ooh people from that part of town are like this or like that"
For me, I had to take a stand, and make a choice for MY life, not their life.
RomanceRe: I Need Your Help by JallowBah(f): 12:11pm On Nov 05, 2012
Stop proposing to every girl you meet, gad damn.

This is what EU-women don`t like about africans; "Hello, you are beautiful, I love you and want you to be my wife".

You should not propose to a woman unless you can see her as your wife, and ALSO think she could see you as her husband.
RomanceRe: How Much Info About Your Partner, Can You Share With Your Family? by JallowBah(f): 12:09pm On Nov 05, 2012
I dont tell my family everything about my husband. I don`t even tell them when I am irritated and had a fight. My mother was, and partly is, against the marriage, so I will not give her anything to put her finger on. I have told her we fight, but I don`t share the obstacles we might face. My grandmother, on the other hand; I tell her much. Not all, but much, cause she likes him, and she gives advices, she don`t point fingers.

But things he have told me in conversations about his past, that its clear he is telling me only because I am his wife, I wont tell anyone. Some things are meant to only be between the two of us.
I wish I could go to my family for guidance at times, but they will look at the situation and tell me "well, thats because he is a muslim/african".

Why did my post in the thread about how people view fat people get hidden...?
I was not writing anything insulting, at all.

Whats up?
