1. You used "he", which was a dubious attempt to over-credit him to back a weak point. That is as dubious as saying Efan Ekoku is the hero that won Nigerian the 1994 ANC.1. I used "he" because he was part of the security forces. 2. How casual is casual? 3. How can he refuse order from his superior for not having the right gear when the gear is not available in the inventory of the NPF? (It seems you are completely oblivious of the state of equipment in our security forces). If you have not done reconnaissance, how do you determine what it is and how to go about defusing or disposing it? { Why can't you just shoot at a bag?}. I can't just imagine how many bags will be shot at in a day. LWKMD.It was not a danger to any one?4. Bros, you dey naija at all? oh! sorry o, the bobo dey LONDON. No wonderrrrr!!! |
For all those insulting this man, curses and evil will reign supreme in their lives and in the lives of their entire family in the name of the creator of the universe and the almighty God in Jesus name Amen.Great post here. Adieu, Sgt Badang. |
We all know there's a lot of decay as you put it. But you don't get blown to pieces by collecting your certificate under a tree! You can even have your certificated typed on a cardboard paper and still go home later and have dinner with your family, that is way better than having your life snuffed out in an instant. You can as well suggest that all the security forces in Nigeria should go on strike or stage a protest for poor or lack of equipment to work with. Is this a bad idea? ![]() |
You are absolutely lying to yourself. What can be reasonably deduced from the video clip was:1. Are you saying the police man is not a security officer? 2. How is he supposed to approach the suspected object? Running, hopping, crawling, rolling or what? 3. How are you sure he was not detailed for the task by his superior? And for your information, you don't just shoot at a bag you don't know the content, merely on suspicion and inside a town for that matter. If the police do, then, the whole country will be like a war zone, causing more fear among the citizens. 4. If there was no danger to lives, why should the material be suspected in the first place? To conclude, I don't think the policeman wanted to show heroism but only responded to the call of duty, with or without necessary equipment which is the situation with the security forces in Nigeria. Bros, let's leave the issue like that. It has happened and it has happened. It is a professional hazard. May his soul rest in peace. P.S: Please, help campaign for our security men to be properly equipped. The Nigerian security forces are determined to perform. |
What he did was totally unnecessary and dumb, yes somebody had to do it. Also, somebody have to fix electric power lines as well, but you don't see anybody messing around with live wires with their bare hands. Are you also saying that even our "learned" friends are dumber for accepting to collect call to bar letters under a tree?: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-872494.0.html |
Yes o, my bros, that is how they are supposed to be dressed, but what if they are not provided with such in Naija? Abeg, don't blame that man, blame our country (leaders) who refused to provide. After all, our lawyers also collect call to bar letters under tree. Check here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-872494.0.html ![]() |
The front page of two national newspapers today (Guardian & Punch of 15th Feb 2012) carried the unthinkable: pictures of lawyers collecting their call to bar certificates under trees ! Over 2 decades ago I received mine in the cosy V.I Main Lecture theatre when the D-G Mr Ibironke called my full names and Kayode Esho JSC as he then was presented me my certificate. Has our country descended into such a filthy pit? That is the state of the nation. This is the more reason why you should not blame the police man that was not well equipped for bomb/IED disposal who was blown up a few days ago in Kaduna. May be the lawyers should have refused to collect their certificates under a tree, abi?. Things have really decayed in Nigeria, courtesy of our leaders. Sad. ![]() |
Did you see any iota of organised method to his attempt at a suspect package or did you see display of casual stupidity?Within his ability and equipment available to him, yes. 1. He ensured people where far from the object, because object was found in a built up area with a lot of human activities. 2. He went alone for reconnassance of the suspect object. 3. Using the available equipment to him, which is the hand held metal detector, he frisked the bag to confirm whether it contained metal. 4. He noticed that the mouth of bag was tied, and so on------. My brother, IED/Bombs is a big topic which can not be exhausted here on the forum. However, if you want to know more goggle the words. You will learn about types of bombs/IEDS, reconnaisance of suspected IED/BOMB object; Methods of disposal which includes manual, mechanical and by use of explosive, and under these, a lot more sub-methods are available. Please, let me stop here. Professional hazard does not respect expertise or whatever, when it wants to happen. It was just unfortunate that he died, and if I may ask, how else should a bomb disposal expert die? May his soul rest in peace. |
Cake refused?. Hell has no fury like an oil magnate snubbed. ![]() |
This poor policeman gave his life so that public can continue about their business in safety and all you useless people can do, is criticise his brave action.Good points @ the highlighted. I am sorry for people yarning nonsense (talking theory) on this thread without reference to the sorry state of leadership in Nigeria as a whole. Adieu, my gallant policeman. |

Yes, we are getting there. We must reach the final destination of this ministry. Join the ministry and be part of the history. ![]() May the pips be with you. |
You people should stop feigning ignorance of the reality on ground due to corruption in the country and stop blaming the poor gallant policeman, without such willing patroits, Nigeria will be without a security agency. |
I hope the hawks will not snatch this chick. ![]() |
Please, what quantity can N100k buy? |
Please, what is the address of the Nigerian with the laptop charger? |
Indeed. Totally pointless and needless death. Are we now not fully immersed in a campaign of continous bombing and terrorism? Why does this officers action not reflect that we have a common policy approach, even basically close to the minimum accepted worldwide, for a Nation under terrorist siege?Blame the country not the policeman. Our leaders are shameless that is why most of them die in hospitals abroad. |
^^^^^^^Hmmnn. Man, you speak as if you are not a Nigerian or doesn't know how our so-call leaders treat us. By saying that the policeman was silly and shouldn't have gone near the suspected bomb object without the right equipment, you are invariably saying that all security personnel should go back to their fathers houses because no security outfit in Nigeria has the minimum equipment. Forget ORBAT and Operational guidelines; in Nigerian context, those are mere poems recited to exite the spirit of the men. |
Belated val peck. ![]() |
True but sad. The military and other security agencies are grossly under equipped. I tell you, some senators have more security gadgets in their houses and offices than our national security agencies. It's our way. So sad. ![]() |
How on GOD's green earth can one work in an antibomb squad and not know the first thing about "Bomb Disposal".I suspect it was a timed bomb or IED. From my observation, the policeman only went to inspect or investigate what the material was. Sad that the policeman got there on the nick of programmed activation time. |
Are you serious? Are you kidding me? Please, what is the right way to approach a suspected bomb material? |
Have a look at this. Even if he rest on the bomb. The highest can happen is injury. The above only shows a bomb disposal expert standing some distance from the point of impact. He can not be harmed from the blast and shockwave of the explosion. Of course, any body at that distance will be safe with or without PPE. You can't compare man up there with the one in Kaduna who was inspecting the material at very close proximity, in fact handling the material when it took off. Even the Bankok bomb expert with all his PPE will not survive a direct impact of explosion (blast and shockwave). Above is not to undermine the use of right equipment and PPE by professionals. I only want to say that it was just unfortunate that the Kaduna police had a direct impact of the explosion. May his soul rest in peace. |
Eyaa. The poor gurl has learnt the corrupt act from his corrupt leaders. ![]() |
