Travel / Re: Where Should I Permanently Immigrate: Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Or Norway? by jamaicangi(f): 1:34am On Nov 28, 2016
Why are you choosing between these countries only? As the other person said, I would first determine what your skills are and find a city in one of these countries that will be willing to hire you. Learn the language proficiently. Identify the important things to know about the culture. Is there serious racism? Is the temperature going to be difficult in the northern cities? Is the cost of living high?

Good luck!

Family / Re: My Wife Lied To Me About Her Age by jamaicangi(f): 8:21pm On Dec 25, 2010
Several people have already given good advice. I will review and add.

First of I agree that ur wife was wrong. I had a guy lie about his age and I was angry but that was just one date. I cannot imagine if it were after marriage- although that would be impossible for me.
1. Get yourself checked. I am a doctor and countless men blame their wives when it is them that has low sperm count or some other problem. Many men have reduced fertility.
2. Someone described some advice for when you come together. Although it sounded vulgar it is correct. Try those methods.
3. Her age is not a factor. Most of the women I know are professionals and have babies in 30s and 40s. The last 6 babies that I know were born tomothers in their 30s. That is still young. The drop in fertility is not significant until the 40s. It is like losing 10 hairs from your scalp. And Black women are less likely to lose fertility with age. Mek her eat plenty yam!
4. I don't understand how u got married without signing any official papers or encountering any of her documents. It makes me wonder about the story.
5. If u are eyeing young girls u r already worse than the wife. To lust after a woman when u r married is adultery. To lust after a student when u r 33 is disgusting too. Would u want ur daughter age 19 with a man ur age? Two wrongs do not make right.
6. Pray together and discuss with the family. Make sure she is not hiding anything else. Make sure that u remain honorable and do nothing wrong. No lusting or violence. Marriage is for keeps. Do not be like the Esterners who get divorced for any little thing. Make sure ur marriage documents are legal and have the correct age. Go to check your fertility. Go to church and move on. Release the anger and the stress. That will make things worse.
And if u do not love her now u never loved her at all,

ProO

Please explain how it is different for working men who sleep with other women.

What are women to do if they are married to a working man. Should they assume he is also sleeping with his junior colleagues and bringing home HIV to her and their children?

Culture / Esusu by jamaicangi(f): 1:53am On Dec 24, 2010
So, I am from the Caribbean and many people from my region participate in something called susu. In Jamaica, we call it "partner" and in some islands they call it "the syndicate" but it is basically the same thing everywhere in the region- a credit organization with a group of friends or acquaintances.

I discovered recently that esusu is a Nigerian word.

Can you guys tell me more about how this is practiced in Nigeria?

Thanks cool

What black man is US president? I thought that a half-black man was president?

Don't tell me that the brainwashing of the African Americans by white Americans is now reaching into the minds of Nigerians.

We (Blacks) should not believe in the one drop rule,

I think that most of the men are Europeans. The average white American man is still too racist to seriously date a black woman. There are exceptions of course but this is rare.

Oluchi is married to an Italian for example. Iman is married to a Brit. Etc.

Hey

Don't call Jamaica "ganja land!" tongue

We use unnu/una every day- it is the plural of "you". This does not exist in English so the word survives easily.
Romance / Re: I Like Him But He Is Too Black: Women Your Opinion Is Needed by jamaicangi(f): 1:28am On Dec 22, 2010
I am "medium" and I do not have any preference for skin color-the palest white or the blackest black are both fine with me!

I am in the minority, however, most Black people have an inferiority complex and believe that white is better even if they don't realize it or will not admit it. If this were not the case, then there would not be the problem of skin bleaching.

Some backwards people will also make comments if two people are dating and the man and woman are disparate in skin color.

This girl is not mature enough and not self-aware enough to be dating anyone. Tell your friend that he can do better. And, I hope that he is not attracted to her because she is fair,

Is it possible to set up a business and see how it goes without giving up your Western life completely in case it doesn't work out. You can always live in North America and run the business a few months at a time. Obviously this takes not only money but some trusted people to help you. Or, can you begin a multinational business that allows you to travel between both countries- something involving trade or catering to Nigerians in the west for example?

I know nothing about business so excuse me if this is unrealistic.

Speak English and Spanish. Want to learn a few more languages. I love learning about other cultures and I love food.

Jamaican breakfast treat. Very easy and very yummy. Eat with fried plantains, breadfruit (I don't know what you guys call it) or bammy (a bread made from cassava). You will be smiling for the whole day!

Ingredients

* 6 ounces dried salted cod fish
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup water
* 1 large tomato, chopped
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
* 2 green onions, chopped
* 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying

Directions

1. Break the cod fish into pieces and place in a saucepan. Fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Drain and rinse under cool water. If you want it less salty, repeat the boiling process a few more times. Remove any bones and skin, if there are any. Shred the fish into small pieces and set aside in a medium bowl.
2. Add the tomato, and green onion to the cod. Combine the flour, baking powder and pepper; stir into the cod. Pour in the water and stir just until everything is blended.
3. Heat 1/4 inch of oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, drop rounded spoonfuls of batter into the skillet. Fry on each side until golden brown and crisp, about 5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Culture / Re: Why Do Alot Of Africans, Nigerians Included, Look Down On Black Americans? by jamaicangi(f): 6:20am On Dec 21, 2010
I don't understand why people stereotype a whole group of people based on the worse representatives. I am neither African nor African American and I can say that there are good and bad in both of those groups. There are educated, good people from both sides and there are scammers, thugs and drug addicts from both sides. It makes no sense that people think that "all" X people are the same. Aren't there good and bad people in every group??

Also, you cannot compare apples and oranges. Compare both people in their native environments or on similar grounds- do not compare an immigrant (who is often either middle or upper class) to a native (who can be of any class).

Can't we all just get to know each other and learn from each other and get along?

ROFL at this thread

I carried a big suitcase last weekend when I went to spend the wknd with a friend. You never know what you are going to need- different shoes, different outfit, etc.

And, I must admit that although the drive up ATM comparison was extreme, I do have a few of those extra steps, undecided

Hi,

What do you guys by "Like Jamaica?"

Caribbean always notice similarities between our countries and Nigeria when we watch Nollywood movies but I am not used to Africans saying that Africa is like the Caribbean. Usually we just hear "akata." I look forward to your answers.

Thanks
