Each student has an 'aurora' (as they call it) profile where u cn carry out all sch activities, part of it is the acct session where u see the fees u hv to pay per term n d deadline for such. My entrance scholarship has been credited on my page der n will b used in paying part of my winter term fee. The entrance scholarship is not given to students in hand but used to offset most of the sch fees. But, the grant u get frm ur supervisor is disbursed to u at ur supervisor's discretion. Like the pple i knw, dey r paid every fortnight after the supervisor had cleared all der sch fees n other fees. Dunno how UMGF is disbursed.

I am just a newly admitted student too. I got this info cos i was curious as u are now. I was given the 5400 CAD as entrance scholarship but cldnt submit the form for UMGF as it stated that i hav to be in my second year since the entrance scholarship will be for the first year (divided btw winter and fall term) as both scholarship cannot b awarded at the same time.

Both the entrance scholarship and grant wld hv been perfect for ur upkeep n tuition if ur supervisor was sponsoring, but since he is not, it might b a little difficult as der r deadlines for all payments per term.

When you apply to U of M, u automatically get an entrance scholarship if ur CGPA is 3.5 and above. In ur application page, the UMGF form will be der but u cn apply till u r in ur second year of study. The entrance sch n UMGF cannot be given at the same time.

You sound like a student of U of M or someone who knows the system really well, so maybe you could help me with a lil more details...

I didn't know, before now, that UMGF won't be offered in the first year. I was banking on it to cover the tuition fees.
The entrance scholarship is worth $5000, however the tuition fee is about $10000.
I have a supervisor who is willing to work with me, but he intends applying for an increase in his research grant, hence, he would only accept me if I can get a scholarship to cover my tuition.

Now, my question is... From experience, do you think I can strive solely on these available scholarship and grant (entrance scholarship and research grant) if admitted, as I don't have any personal funds?

As for the telecommunication network in the camp, i was using MTN and it worked perfectly. I think Airtell is also working perfectly there.

I've been a silent observer for a couple of days...

But, at this point.. I must say we're shooting at the wrong targets.

It ain't proactive to keep debating and counteracting one another about issues we know very little about. The truth is that none of us know exactly what is wrong and what is going on with NYSC. We only keep making assumptions from snippets of info trickling in from different sources, we don't know the entire truth and story.

So, why keep arguing, fighting and even resorting to name callings over what you or the other person know very little about?

Why not channel that energy and passion to the social media awareness we are creating and let you voice be heard along with thousands of others in our predicament?

Why fight and insult the very same people who are in the same pathetic situation as yourself, a situation forced on us not by the individual you're in an heated argument with?

Why not go all out and fight and insult the very persons responsible for our frustrations? (I don't encourage the use of foul language, but if that's a way to get these people to hear and act, then by all means.. Use it).

Please... We're one family, we need to remain as one through this storm, so that when the great calm comes, we would all look back at it together, united and with smiles on our faces.
