Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke has a date to keep at the Westminster Magistrate’s Court in London today, over money laundering and bribery allegations.

She was first arraigned in the court last October.
Mrs Alison-Madueke was arrested along with four others by the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA). She was granted bail and told to come back today for a decision to be taken on the £27,000 seized cash and other charges made against her.
The court ruled in October 2015 that the cash can be held for six months before she is arraigned after investigations.
The NCA, which leads the UK law enforcement’s fight to cut serious and organised crime, is working in league with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the probe of the former minister.
The NCA found some of the ex-minister’s brothers and other business partners complicit in the money laundering allegation. She was arrested with her brothers.
Messrs Abiye Agama and Somye Agama are Mrs Diezani siblings who operate some UK-based businesses hurriedly shut them after the NCA and the EFCC searchlight became intense.
The two brothers are directors of Hadley Petroleum Solutions Limited, a company the authorities believe was used for money laundering. The other directors are Ugonna Madueke and Abu Fari.
The company was registered in June 2013 in Manchester, but was dissolved less than two years later last February without filing any account.
Abiye, 33, a point man of the firm, is a computer engineer and manager. He was a director in 11 other companies. He resigned from seven of them.

Ex-minister’s accounts frozen
As part of the ongoing probe and preparation for the arraignment of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, some investigators from the United Kingdom have visited Nigeria to gather evidence.
The ex-minister is under investigation over the missing $20billion oil cash, phoney crude oil lifting contracts, $115million poll bribery money, the $1.092b Malabu oil deal and the N5.2billion ($25m) oil cash paid by an Indian oil firm for an oil block
The UK team inspected the former minister’s multi-billion naira mansion, her £600,000 exotic wrist watch and gold and diamond jewelry which have been confiscated.
There were indications last night that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has also frozen Mrs Alison-Madueke’s bank accounts.
The commission may attach some assets of the ex-minister under the Interim Forfeiture Order in Sections 26 and 29 of the EFCC Act, The Nation learnt.
The UK investigators came into the country as part of the build-up to the trial of the ex-minister in London.
Mrs Alison-Madueke and four others were arrested in London on October 2, 2015 by the National Crime Agency( NCA).
The NCA said all the suspects were released on “conditional police bail, pending further investigation both in the UK and overseas”.
A source, who confirmed the visit said it was the “continuation of the London end of the investigation of the ex-minister.”
Besides restricting her movement to the UK, a London (Westminster Magistrate’s Court) on Marylebone Road had approved the seizure of $41,000 (£27,000) cash from Mrs Alison-Madueke.
“With the outcome of the fact-finding mission of the UK team, I think so far, the investigation has reached a convenient bend for the prosecution of the ex-minister,” the source said, pleading not to be named because of the “sensitivity” of the matter.
An EFCC source confirmed that the former minister’s accounts in some major banks had been frozen. “It is too early to disclose the amounts involved in order not to prejudice investigation. We are discovering more on daily basis as some complicit banks are now cooperating,” he said, adding:
“We are allowed by law to place suspicious accounts and assets under interim forfeiture until the court decides otherwise.
“We are collaborating with anti-graft agencies in other jurisdictions on her case.”
Sections 26 and 29 of the EFCC Act on forfeiture read: “Any property subject to forfeiture under this Act may be seized by the commission in the following circumstances- (a) the seizure is incidental to an arrest or search; or (b) in the case of property liable to forfeiture upon process issued by the Court following an application made by the Commission in accordance with the prescribed rules
“Whenever property is seized under any of the provisions of this Act, the Commission may-(a) place the property under seal; or (b) remove the property to a place designated by the Commission.
“Properties taken or detained under this section shall be deemed to be in custody of the Commission, subject only to an order of a court.”
There is an ongoing probe by the EFCC of Mrs Alison-Madueke’s involvement in a $115m (N23, 299,705,000billion) 2015 poll bribery scandal.
The anti-graft agency has quizzed Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo and the bank’s Head of Operations, Martin Izuogbe in connection with the scandal.
Four companies, according to investigation by the anti-graft agency, allegedly gave the following amount to the bank for use to bribe officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Northern Belt Gas Company Limited ($60m); Auctus Integrated($17,884,000); Midwestern Oil and Gas($9.5m); and Leno Laitan Adesanya ($1.85m).
“The ex-minister sent $25.77million(approximately $26m) to bring the total amount to $115million( N23, 299,705,000billion).
Mrs Alison- Madueke has twice in six months appeared before a London court to answer charges regarding the £27,000 money laundering and bribery allegation made against her by the NCA..
She will be returning to the court again in September, after the Westminster Magistrate court granted the request of the NCA on March 31, 2016 for another six months to enable the Agency gets more time to tighten its case.
Mrs Madueke will be on bail along with her mother Mrs Beatrice Agama who is the lead suspect; son, Ugonna Madeueke, family friend Ms Melanie Spencer, the wife of a Ghanaian oil tycoon, Kevin Okyere till when the court reconvenes in September to decide on a direction for the case.
It is typical of the NCA drawing its motivation from the Proceeds of Crime Act to always ask for more time for its investigations so it can build a water tight case.
The Proceeds of Crime Act says: “The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (“POCA”) sets out the legislative scheme for the recovery of criminal assets with criminal confiscation being the most commonly used power.
“Confiscation occurs after a conviction has taken place. Other means of recovering the proceeds of crime, which do not require a conviction, are provided for in the Act, namely civil recovery, cash seizure and taxation powers. The investigation is now global extending to Nigeria and Switzerland where billionaire Business man Kola Aluko was questioned and home raided on the request of the NCA.
Aluko, who has Swiss nationality and owner of Atlantic Energy had some oil deals with NNPC while Madueke was in charge. He is believed to be a key figure in the money laundering network.
Atlantic Energy signed a lucrative strategic alliance in 2011 with NNPC while Madueke was in charge of Petroleum Ministry giving it rights to sell oil from four big blocks on behalf of Nigeria. Before the oil price crashed, Aluko said the commercial value of the contract was estimated at $7bn.

A top EFCC source, who spoke in confidence, said: “We have located some assets allegedly owned by Diezani and some of her business associates in the United States. We are already collaborating with the US Government to attach these assets. “In fact, the EFCC chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, spent about one and a half weeks in the US to work with the relevant agencies to trace Diezani’s properties, some of which are believed to have been secured through business fronts like Kola Aluko. “We have submitted relevant documents to the US authorities in order to facilitate the seizure of the assets.”

PoliticsMr. Chinakwe’s Dog, The Sons Of Lucifer And The Seed Of Al Shaitan - FFK by jamesibor(op): 3:06pm On Aug 23, 2016
By Femi Fani-Kayode, Nothing is more indicative of the Federal Government’s misplaced priorities and more reflective of their total and complete moral degeneration and psychotic paranoia than their behaviour towards the owner of a dog that was named Buhari. Consider the following. *Fani-Kayode One year and two months ago when President Goodluck Jonathan was still in power, a man named his goat “Goodluck Jonathan”. After doing so he took a picture of himself with the goat and proceeded to splash it all over Facebook and Twitter. As insulting and provocative as this was, no-one in government raised an eyebrow and neither did President Jonathan take it in bad faith. Again one year and two months ago whilst he was still in power President Goodluck Jonathan was maligned, misrepresented and labelled as being “clueless”, “weak” and “incompetent” by many. We took advantage of his meekness, decency, sense of restraint and humility and we took the basic freedoms that he gave us for granted. It didn’t stop there. On several occasions during the course of the 2015 presidential election campaign he was stoned in parts of the core north by violent groups of hungry-looking and thuggish almajiris whilst the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, was unfairly and cruelly portrayed as an illiterate, a drama queen, a clown and somethiing akin to a female court jester. She was even referred to as a “hipoppotomos” by no less a person than our Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka whilst Jonathan himself was described as “a pig” by Mr. Japhet Omojuwa, a young and dynamic blogger and political commentator. Yet despite all these unwarranted, crude and provocative insults the President did not lose his cool, the heavens did not fall and his government did not query, warn, threaten or arrest anyone. One year and two months later things appear to be very different. Permit me to explain. A few days ago a man who named his dog “Buhari” was promptly arrested by the police and remanded in custody. His name is Joachim Chinakwe and he lives in Ogun state. The police told members of an incredulous public that they took and kept Mr. Chinakwe in custody “for his own safety” and that they intended to arraign him in a court of law in a matter of days for having the effontry to name his dog “Buhari”. According to them, giving his dog that name was a provocative act that could have lead to an ethnic and religious conflict because Mr. Chinakwe’s neighbours were Hausa-Fulani. Apparantly those neighbours were not too happy with the name that he had given to the dog, in view of the fact that our President shares the same name, and therefore they threatened to kill him for it. As far as I am aware this is the first time in the history of our country that anyone has been arrested simply because his dog shares the same name as our President. It is also the first time that the victim of a serious crime and an individual whose life was threatened ended up being thrown behind bars whilst those that threatened to take that life ended up being the complainants in the case. And all this because of a poor dog named Buhari which, we are told, had to be quietly put down and sent to the great beyond by its owner so that it couldn’t be used as evidence against him in court! The whole episode sounds like a second rate Hollywood script but sadly it really happened. I guess that is “Mai Chanji” for you. Yet examples of the startling contrasts that exist between the Jonathan era and the one that we are in today refuse to abate. Things have got so bad in this country that Mr. Ebube, a regular and increasingly influential commentator on Twitter, posted the following words on his handle yesterday. He wrote, “Under this misfortune called APC people are arrested for writing about EFCC, naming a dog and criticising a governor”. I guess that is Mai Chanji for you. When one considers the economic situation things are even worse. Mr. Oshioke Audu, a public commentator, put it well when he posted the following words on Facebook. He wrote, “Twenty years ago the South African economy was 7.5 times the size of the Nigerian one. At the end of 2012 the South African economy was only 1.4 times the size of the Nigerian one. By 2014 Nigeria officially became Africa’s number one economy and the 23rd in the world. Then the APC took over with inept Buhari in 2015. By 2016, Nigeria is now the 40th world economy and the third in Africa”. What a tragedy! Yet no-one captures it better than a young and courageous politician from Anambra state by the name of Prince Henry Nwazuruahu Shield who wrote the following on Facbook: “Recession does not speak politics. It is simply a result of one man’s ignorance about the management of the economy. A robust economy benefits both APC supporters and PDP’s. We need to agree that Buhari is the SOLE problem of Nigeria”. This insightful young man has hit the nail on the head. Permit me to conclude this contribution by touching on a matter that has brought many of us in the Christian community immense sorrow. Southern Kaduna is on fire and its people are being slaughtered on a daily basis by blood-sucking Fulani herdsmen. Despite this the Federal Government has done nothing to abate it or to bring the perpertrators to justice. The truth is that those that commit these heinous crimes and their powerful rich friends that secretly buy them arms and that covertly encourage, protect and support them are nothing but the sons of Lucifer: they are the seed of Al Shaitan. Pastor Luka Ubangari was one of their latest victims. His cold-blooded murder in southern Kaduna a few days ago by Fulani militants together with the slaying of Pastor Eunice Elisha by muslim fundamentalists in Kubwa, Abuja a few weeks back means that in the last 3 months no less than two Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastors have been butchered by islamist terrorists in northern Nigeria. The government’s slow response, irresponsible attitude and inexplicable refusal to clamp down on them has furthrr emboldened the Fulani terrorists and militants. This is dangerous and unacceptable. The matter is simple: if the government does not do something fast to stem the tide of violence and provocative acts of terror, self-help and self-defence will be the only recourse left for those that are being subjected to genocide and ethnic cleansing. I hope that Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye and Vice President (Pastor) Yemi Osinbajo, both of RCCG, both of whom I have immense respect and affection for, are taking note of this gruesome and tragic horror movie as it unfolds. I hope that they are also taking note of the body count of Pastors and believers that is slowly building up. Ditto my friend and brother Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Reign Assembly and Pastor Kumuyi of Deeper Life, both of whom have expressed their support for President Buhari in the last few days in spite of the sheer carnage that members of their wider flock and Christian brothers and sisters are being subjected to all over the country on a daily basis by the President’s kinsmen. Things have got so bad in this respect that Mr. Babatunde O. Gbadamosi, a Lagos-based businessman and social commentator, accurately reflected the mood of the nation and the growing anger when he wrote the following words on Facebook. He said, “Buhari is condoning organised genocide in Nigeria. And Nigerians are too scared to speak out”. The latest development is that eight Christian polytechnic students were burnt alive in Zamfara state for allegedly making “blasphemous comments” against Prophet Mohammed. Clearly the madness is spreading. I hate to say “I told you so” but I guess that we all have to live with the consequences of the choices that we make. That is “mai chanji”. Those amongst us that are still “too scared to speak out” and that live in a state of perpetual bondage and fear have much to learn from the words of Alexander the Great, one of the greatest kings and warriors that ever lived. He said “conquer your fears and you will live forever!” The people of Nigeria have much to learn from those words. May He that rules in the affairs of Heaven and earth and who holds the universe together by the power of His word arise in defence of His children. May the souls of the servants of the Living God and Christian believers that were cut short by the agents of the evil one in the last few days and weeks rest in peace. May the Lord God of Hosts, the Ancient of Days, the Man of War, the Seven-fold Spirit of the Living God and He that holds the four winds of the earth in the palm of His hand avenge them speedily.

PoliticsThe Woman, Aisha Wakil, Boko Haram Calls Mummy Is Igbo by jamesibor(op): 10:08pm On Aug 22, 2016
Barrister Aisha Wakil who was declared wanted by the Nigerian military authorities last Sunday was until recent largely unknown. Almost always totally veiled, her identity has been as inscrutable as the tale about her origins. Popular folklore is that the woman activist, who was born into an Igbo Christian family converted to Islam during her time at the University of Maiduguri where she studied law. Aisha Wakil Prior to the transformation of the Islamic Boko Haram sect into a fighting force in 2009, Wakil was well known to have close ties with Mohammed Yusuf, the leader of the sect, whose killing led to the radical transformation of the group. Following her education, she settled in Maiduguri and made a home with another lawyer, Wakil Gana who is presently a judge with the Borno State High Court. The news report declaring Aisha wanted undoubtedly came to her and nearly all who knew her with surprise especially against the fact that she had almost always carried out her conduct and liaisons with Boko Haram with the knowledge of the authorities. In fact, she is known to be a staff of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC and was during the Goodluck Jonathan administration an important liaison that was used to make contacts with the Boko Haram. She has not for once denied a link with the group, having said in separate fora that she knew some of the insurgents right from when they were circumcised. It was perhaps on that account that when the Jonathan administration constituted a committee to negotiate with Boko Haram she featured prominently on the list. Even more, when the Boko Haram group announced a group of prominent northerners to negotiate with the government she and her husband, Justice Wakil were featured among those nominated by the group. Calling the Boko Haram insurgents at one point as her children who moved in and out, she said: “That was how I got to know most of them. Then they were not Boko Haram and Jama’atu ah-lil Sunnah members. It is surprising how these children turned out to be what they are now. I keep on saying there is certainly no smoke without fire. Something must have triggered those innocent-looking children to grow up behaving the way they are behaving now. “You needed to see them growing up. Sometimes when I start talking about them, I shed tears. Those children prayed, and still pray a lot. I have a mosque in the house, and they would always go in and pray.” Wakil narrated how she started noticing changes in them. How they would go out in the morning and return in the evening and during the fasting period, they would not return until around 11 or 12 midnight. They also started attending Muhammad Yusuf’s lectures to listen to his preaching. “I didn’t observe anything strange about the teaching. Soon, the children began to be conscious of themselves. It was then that the rumour started that they were planning a war. When I heard of it, I went straight to Muhammad Yusuf because I had been very close to him. When I realized that Muhammad Yusuf was frequently being arrested, detained and released, I went to Baba Fugu and asked him why his son-in-law was always being detained? But I learnt he was always preaching things the government didn’t like and insulting them.” At the peak of the crisis when few dared to come out, Aisha was able to mobilise some Borno women to come out to protest against the situation. At that time she was quoted to have referred to the Boko Haram insurgents as her children. “My sons, I have been begging you since in silence to come out and state your grievances and stop destroying your homeland. Please come out and state your grievances and stop these killings,” she was quoted to have tearfully said. Just as she is almost never seen without being fully veiled from the crown of her head to the sole of her feet, Aisha’s origin has been almost always veiled from Nigerians. The nearest revelation about her linkage to being Igbo was when she was quoted to have disclosed in an interview with a national newspaper her peace-making efforts. According to her, she “started the dialogue process since 2009, even before the major crisis erupted because I knew their slain spiritual leader, Muhammad Yusuf. His father-in-law, late Alhaji Baba Fugu Mohammed, was my spiritual father in Islam, and I used to visit his home. “In fact, Mohammed Yusuf almost married my younger sister Amina, but Almighty Allah did not make it possible. So that was how I got closer to the duo. It went even to the extent that I was cooking food and taking it to the house of late Alhaji Fugu, to the pupils of the Qur’anic school, (almajari). “And because I am from the southern part of the country, I normally prepared southern dishes, which Yusuf had always come to eat. In fact, he liked my egusi soup very much, and we became very close when his father-in-law told him that I was the one who cooked the food. So anytime we met, he expressed delight and prayed that Almighty Allah would reward me, for he was eating from my pot and that was how I established a strong relationship with him,” she was quoted as saying.

Negotiation is all about give and take. Government has no choice but to concede some grounds to them.

The government doesn't need my advice- they have all it takes, experts, information, intel, capabilities, etc, to make the right decision.

I have said what I wanna say and that's my opinion. I'm afraid you just have to live with it or "report" the post thereby hiding it if you don't like seeing it.

Bye.
But Buhari has been calling for help from both local and international bodies on defeating the insurgency. Do you know more than him?

This is nothing but the truth!!

The revelations made by that Cynthia Whyte and the threat to make even more really dealt a big blow to their schemes. Now they have been put on the defensive and trying to scheme their way out feigning desire to "negotiate".

All along, this nonsense was about nothing but a means to blackmail the FG into letting some ultra corrupt elements in the immediate past admin off the anti corruption dragnet. I'm sure the FG is unto something significant on the war against terrorism in the SS hence their current position.

In addition, a lot more NDeltans are beginning to see the folly in their methods and they are becoming more and more unpopular amongst the people whose welfare they "claim" to be fighting for.

In due time, we'd get to see the faces of all those behind this nonsense.
Advice your govt not to accept their terms but rather to go on an all out offensive and also arrest all the alleged sponsors. That way, they can be on top of the game.

They want to negotiate because the identities of their sponsors have been revealed. Nigeria is bigger than any selfish or bigoted interest. I guess they have finally learnt the bitter truth that no unholy interest can hold down the country.
This one is here foamig from the mouth behind the keyboard while his Oba is on his knees begging

:
– Oba Riliwan Akiolu expressed optimism in Buhari’s ability to turn Nigeria around

– He begged Niger Delta Avengers to embrace peace

– The Lagos monarch noted that violence would not solve the problem

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwan Akiolu I has sent a message to members of the Niger Delta Avengers to stop the violence and give peace a chance.

The group has claimed responsibility for series of bombing of oil and gas pipelines in the Niger Delta region which has affected Nigeria’s output of oil and the economy.

NAN reports that the Lagos monarch made the plea at his palace on Saturday, August 20 during the celebration of the Isese Festival in Isale Eko area of Lagos Island.
“I want to use this medium to appeal to the Niger Delta Avengers to give peace a chance.

“I agree to some extent with them that certain things have to be done for them, but they just have to give peace a chance and things will work for them.

“They should stop and put their grievances on the table and the government will address it. It is not too late to mend.”
The Oba expressed optimism in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari to turn the country around for good.

“I am confident that the economy of the country, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, will change for good because our president is focused.”

“Let us cooperate with the government. Do not take laws into your hands and always inform the security agencies wherever there are criminal activities.”

A few weeks ago, the monarch advised President Buhari against approaching governance as a military man.

He said Buhari should realize that he is no longer a military man and be civil in his approach.

THE PAN-NIGER STRUGGLE
The struggle has always being a Pan-Niger Delta one, we only know the anti Niger Delta elements are using some disorganized characters from the region to scuttle all effort to restore the essence of our humanity; resources control and self-determination.

We are going to support any collective/negotiation team emerging from the Chief (Dr.) Papa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Niger Delta elders and genuine stakeholders conference to engage with the federal government of Nigeria, representatives from the home countries of all multinational Oil Corporations and neutral international mediators that will be focused on achieving the short, medium and long term frameworks and objectives to de-escalating conflicts in the Niger Delta. Most of the frameworks and objectives are clearly stated in various reports, declarations and recommendations of the likes of the Sir.Henry Willinks minority rights reports of pre-independence Nigeria (1957-cool, The Kaiama Declaration document, The General Alexander Ogomudia report, The Leedum Mittee headed, Niger Delta Technical Committee report and restructuring to fiscal federalism.

We have resolved to reject any idea of the peace of our times; we want the peace with honor this time around! Our advice to our Niger Delta elders and genuine stakeholders is that, whenever this inhuman project called Nigeria and her government is ready for dialogue/negotiations with them, this mandate should be treated with that care as driving a vehicle like that of a truck laden with fire.

We are going to continue the observation of our unannounced cessation of hostilities in the Niger Delta against all interest of the Multinational oil Corporations, but we will continuously adopt our asymmetric warfare during this period if, the Nigerian government and the ruling political APC continues to use security agencies/agents, formations and politicians to arrest, intimidate, invade and harass innocent citizens, suspected NDA members and invade especially Ijaw communities.

We promise to fight more for the Niger Delta, if this opportunity fails. Therefore, we will give our Niger Delta elders and genuine stakeholders that tacit support to the dialogue table with the government and the Multinational oil Corporations whenever the enabling environment prevails.

We also use this medium to warn those using rogue platforms like the defunct so-called MEND, RNDA- Cynthia Whyte especially Charles Okah who is franchising these internet based banditry from his prison cell, through Victor Ebikabowei Ben (Boyloaf), Timipre Silva, Selekaye Ebikabowei, Ayirimi Emani, Michael Johnny, Governor Adams Oshiomole to please inform those their paymasters that the days of doom are here. That those sold and bought up interests from around the corridors of power cannot arm-twist the NDA with bandits, drug addicts, illegal bunkerers, bank robbers and disorganized characters to derail the Niger Delta struggle.
