LiteratureChildren With Cellphones: What's The Right Age? by Jamesmelbin(op): 10:38pm On Oct 13, 2012
When it comes to cell phones, they're a great resource. They're extremely helpful in communicating and in hundreds of other ways, too. The big question that everyone with kids is asking is when the right age to give your son or daughter their first phone?

Unfortunately, there is no universal right answer. Each kid isso unique with their maturity level and intentions that what works for one kid might not work for any others. It all depends on your personal situation.

First you need to ask yourself whyyour child needs a cell phone. Are they going places where there is no way for them to contact you frequently? Do you work late and need to be able to talk to them at a moments notice? Whatever your reasoning, you need to at least have one set reason. Giving your child a phone for no reason can lead to unfavorable results.

How old are they? I've seen kids as young as six with their own cell phone number. If they are an elementary school student (ages six through eleven), you could optfor a parental monitored phone like the Disney Phone. This way they can only call numbers you approve of and aren't in contact with everyone. I don't suggest giving an iPhone (or any other smart phone) to a younger child. These phones are subject to shattered screens, scratches, and you can't control the content as easily.

If your children are ages twelve to about fourteen, you can experiment with giving them a phone of their choice. Just remember that most phones now can easily connect to the internet, and your child will have access to websites about anything and everything that pops into their head. If you have a mature, trustable child, this isn't a bad plan.

As for any child above fifteen, you can usually give any phone to. Usually older kids are more trustworthy and responsible, and can handle a phone will more features. As stated above, it's always up to the parent to make any final decisions, because you know your child and how they behave, and whether you can trust them with a phone.

Overall, giving your child a phone isn't as preposterous as it was a few years ago. More and more people are using them everyday. Itisn't a responsibility to be taken lightly, either. Just remember to talk to your kids before about any and all expectations you have with letting them own a cell phones.

LiteratureA Hawk Just Stole My Alice: I Wont Forgive Her by Jamesmelbin(op): 2:14pm On Oct 09, 2012
I was the one on duty today. My sister have gone to her boarding school, since sunday. And my kid brother and kid sister have just left for school.
I have been trying to dodge this work till my younger brother return, but my mum wont let me.
I was resting on the chair at the sitting room, busy with my friends. The whatsapp application my friend just introduced to me has been my job, day and night.
I was also playing Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song which best described my mood as at that moment.
The song was about to end when I noticed my mum was still talking. But I cant hear what she was saying, because of the earpiece I was using.
I removed the earpiece to hear what she was saying but I have missed some of it.
"...last time I will tell you this, if I ever repeat it again call me bastard"
I hate her, she love using foul languages. I stood up angrily, went to the kitchen and gathered the dirty plates. I was about to get out of the kitchen with the plates when Caeser came wagging her tail.
She's my dog, the only one left out of my three dogs. The others are already in heaven. or maybe in hell.
She was followed by her five growing puppies. She was discharged yesterday - from the maternity home - after giving birth to the "beautiful babies". There was one of the puppies I like most, it has a white mark in it's forehead. I named it Alice.
I patted their heads and went my way a bit relaxed.
To cut the odd story short, I was still battling with the stubborn plates when a hawk descended suddenly from above and took Alice aways.
It was surprising, I thought Cæser will follow the hawk and retrieve her child the way she was looking up as the hawk was going, but she didn't.

LiteratureChange Is An Evidence Of Life by Jamesmelbin(op): 5:16pm On Sep 05, 2012
Do not fear changes; it is the unchangeable law of progress.

Change is the only evidence of life. It is impossible to grow without change. Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. The truth is, life is always at some turning point. What people want is progress; they can't have it without change You must change and recognise that change is your greatest ally, The person, who never changes his opinion, never corrects his mistakes. The truth is, the road to success is always under constructions.

Yesterday's formula for success is often tomorrow's recipe for failure. The man who uses yesterday's methods in today's world probably won't be in business tomorrow.

You cannot become what you are destined to be by remaining what you are. Only fools and dead men don't change their minds. The same kind of thinking that has brought you to where you are today, will not necessarily take you where you want to go. Sante Boeve retorted, <b>"There are people whose watch stops at a certain hour and who remain permanently at that age."</b>

Remember, what Mignon McLaughin said, <b>"It's the most unhappy people who most fear change."</b> When patterns and traditions are broken, new opportunities come in. Tradition they say, is an enemy of innovation. Change is the only thing that is constant in the whole world.

CareerThings You Should Tell Yourself by Jamesmelbin(op): 11:34am On Jul 08, 2012
[/img]

Count your blessings, not your troubles. Give more than you take. Look for the good in people and situations. Make time for those who matter. Laugh when you can. Cry when you need to. Focus on your priorities. Make decisions, not excuses. And always stay true to your values.

1. I am fighting hard for the things I want most. – The longer you have to wait for something, the more you will appreciate it when it finally arrives. The harder you have to fight for something, the more it will be worth to you once you achieve it. And the more pain you have to endure on your journey, the sweeter the arrival at your destination. Most great things don’t come easy, but they are worth waiting for and fighting for.
2. I am taking action now. – Many great things can be done in a day if you don’t always make that day tomorrow. Don’t let your fear of making a mistake stop you. A life spent making mistakes is not only more enjoyable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.
3. I am focusing on the next positive step. – A situation can occur in life that stops us dead in our tracks, frozen with fear. We can either stay stuck in that place by continuing to give it our attention, or we can gently remove our attention from whatever is happening, and focus instead on our next step –on what is possible tomorrow. Remember, the future holds nothing but endless potential. There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind. We just have to get there.
4. I am proud to wear my truth. –How others see you is not important. How you see yourself means everything. To be beautiful means to live confidently in your own skin. Say it, and then say it again: “This is my life, my choices, my mistakes, and my lessons. Not yours.”
5. I have a lot to smile about. – Happiness is not a result of getting something you don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what you do have. You create happiness with your attitude, your behavior and your actions. It is all up to you.
6. I am making the best of it. – Everything you go through grows you. Sometimes you think doing something is a total waste of time, and then it ends up being one of the best things you ever did. Don’t judge the day before it unfolds. Amazing things can and do happen when you least expect them. Let each day be a scavenger hunt in which you must find at least one of these things: a sincere laugh, an act of kindness, a realization, or a lesson that will lead you closer to your dreams.
7. I am letting go of yesterday’s stress. – Sometimes the reason it’s so hard for us to be happy is simply because we refuse to let go of the things that make us upset. As the sun sets on this day, let it go. Leave behind the stress, the drama and the worries. Lay this day to rest. Tomorrow is about hope, new possibilities, and the opportunity to make a better day.
8. There is enough time today to do something I love. – Where did you leave your happiness? With an old lover? In city you once lived in? In a story you never finished writing? In a dream you gave up on? In a hope you got too weary to carry? Wherever you left it, go back and retrieve it. If you don’t remember where you left it, dedicate a little time today to doing something you love to do, and you will find your happiness somewhere nearby.
9. I am priceless in someone’s eyes. – Being with someone who overlooks your worth isn’t loyalty, it’s stupidity. Don’t let the people who aren’t worth it get to you. Focus on those who love and accept you for who you are, and shower them with the love and kindness they deserve. And above all, cherish the people who saw you when you were invisible to everyone else.
10. It’s not too late. – No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always change and become a better version of yourself. Peace, strength and direction will come to you when you manage to tune out the noisy judgments of others, in an effort to better hear the soft and steady hum of your own inner strength. And once you hear it, you will realize that it’s not too late to be what you might have been

Nairaland GeneralHow To Find Happiness: Tips From Ideas Of Great Men by Jamesmelbin(op): 12:31pm On Jul 04, 2012
1. You choose.
Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.
Abraham Lincoln
Very little is needed to make a happy life ; it is all within yourself,in your way of thinking.
Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
The world of those who are happy is different from the worldof those who are not.
Ludwig Wittgenstein
How your view yourself and your world are conscious choices and habits. The lens you choose to view everything through determines how you will interpretwhat is happening. And from yourinterpretation you act. And all of this becomes your life.
You can choose to find happiness in small, everyday things. You can choose to interpret what happensin a positive way. Or in a negative way.
And your choices controls much of how much happiness your will find and create in your life.
2. Focus on the present, not yesterday or tomorrow.
When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
Helen Keller
The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet.
James Oppenheim
You only have now. And now. Andnow. Yesterday is a memory and you cannot change it. Tomorrow is just a fantasy in your mind rightnow. So live more in the now, focus on the present moment andtoday. Think and worry less aboutyesterday and tomorrow. Otherwise you might miss a great deal of happiness that is available to you right now.
3. Don’t forget to be grateful.
Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up ashe ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.
Fyodor Dostoevsky
We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
Frederick Keonig
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
Marcel Proust
One of the simplest and quickest ways to turn a negative and sour mood into a more positive one is to be grateful.
A few things you can feel gratitude for are for instance: Thesunshine and the weather. Your roof. Your health. A good TV-show, a movie or a song. Your friends, family, co-workers and just about anyone walking down the street.
Just try if for a minute and see how it changes how you feel. Andit’s a win/win solution. You feel great because you are grateful about your world and the people you are grateful for feel great too because they feel appreciated. So don´t forget about gratitude or you may forget about the happiness that is already in your life.
4. Help someone else find happiness.
Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.
Buddha
If you want happiness for an hour — take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day — go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year — inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime — help someone else.
Chinese Proverb
Happiness is like a kiss. You must share it to enjoy it.
Bernard Meltzer
This is certainly one of the most popular ideas I’ve found about happiness. And it might sound clichéd and empty. But it works very well. When you make someone else happy – by, for example, helping them with something – you can sense, see, feel and hear it. And that happy feeling flows back to you. And then, if you’d like, you can boost you own ego by thinking something like: ”Wow, I really made him/her happy!”.
And since the Law of Reciprocity is strong there is another upside. People will feel like giving back to you. Or they might feel like helping/sharing it with someone else. And so the two – or more – of you keep spreading the happiness.

V_Official®:
not actually trying to convince the adamant ones but guiding against confusing the confused ones.
oh? Do I believe there are confused ones anywhere?. One will definately fall to these categories
*you believe God exist and have your own proof
*you believe God dont exist and have your own proof
*you believe God exist, just naturally without a reasonable proof
*you believe God dont exist, and you have no proof
The first two groups are not confused because they could prove what they believe. And, the last two groups are not confused too because they believed and never worried to find any proof.
But if someone believe God exist and still wants to get someone to prove to him that God exists, he might still be filed under the third group. And vice versa.

when it comes to this kind of an arguement, i count it as waste of saliva. An arguement with someond who wont succumb, ever?
Each persons belief should stick inside of him, no need of trying to convince someone to believe your belief. When the time comes the God that exist will be revealed.

cyrexx: Jesus had been coming soon since 2000 years ago. Every generation of Christians, including the first, has thought they were living in the “end times.” Jesus is reported as telling his disciples, “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.” (Matthew 16:28 ) He promised, “Behold I come quickly.” (Revelation 3:11) But 2,000 years is not “quickly.”

He has been coming soon before we were born and he will still be coming soon long after we are dead and gone.

No man can ever know what is in God's mind. And anyone who criticise him will bear the consequence.
As you have said, not untill he returns, He will always be coming soon and we will always be awaiting his coming.
No one would be opportuned to know when the "soon" will be. But he will come one day- very soon. To take along those who waited in obedience & satisfaction and not in complaint of his late arrival.
He will arrive as a thief in the night. No one can guess when or how He will come.
We all have to expect him in holiness. Though, He might not arrive before our demise. We should not criticise the WISEST.
