Give them ciprovet it will clear it. to prevent it ensure you pack your litter regularly to aviod ammonia build up.

davidzfarm18. A bag of Laymore Concentrate goes for #3305. This will be mixed with 42 kg of maize @ #68/kg = #2856 & 17kg of wheat offal @ #44/kg = #748. This amounts to 3305 + 2856 + 748 = #6909 for 84kg (25 + 42 + 17) of laymore fmash. This translates to about #83/kg. A bag of laymore finished feed goes for #2450 here in Owo, Ondo State.

Ayostically. Concentrate is basically a mixture of some feeds ingredients which are not included in larger percentage. Example; soybeans, GNC, lysine, methionine, etc. For Animal Care & Amo Bygn Concentrates, you're required to add maize & wheat offal. I learnt Top Feeds & a Koulidjis (not sure I got the spelling right) have concentrates. In all, the mixing ratio is attached to the bag. And you can save up to #300/bag with concentrate.

though am using animal care feed i prefer top feed concentrate because you only need to add maize. i wish animal care has such concentrate. how much do you buy corn and your location. thanks

jamp. Great reading from you. I believe the birds are doing fine. I wouldn't really know about Animalcare Feeds at the moment. I only buy the Concentrate & not the Finished Feeds. However, for drop in production; it could be due to a number of factors which include the shorter daylength as well as the stress the birds are facing due to the heat. It could as well be the feeds. Ayostically, the decision to change feeds is entirely yours. Just be sure it is changed gradually.

weldone my oga. the birds are ok. what is your experience with the concentrate? how much is it and how many bags(kg) of corn do you add. as you said the shorter day lenght might be a factor to the drop in production. i didnt hear from your friend again. has he changed his mind.

2day's egg production fell 2 about 85%. didn't get any soft shelled but d size is still nt as it used 2 be.
is it advisable to switch feed, its been animal care product all along?

bros as eggcelent said, the decision to change feed is entirely yours but consider the effect it will have on your production. also consider if increase in production will compesate the increase in cost for new feed. aisde passion for poultry profit making is very important too.

@ eggcelent, davidzfarm, other experts, my layers are doing above 90% egg production; but in d last few days, the size of their eggs have reduced, I even noticed 1-2 soft shelled eggs.
this started when I started on a fresh bag of their feed (animal care laymore mash). in this batch of supplies, the feed is finer in particles with less corn granules.
what do I do to size up their eggs again

Ayostically. Researches have proven that laying birds do better with bigger feeds granules. However, that doesn't explain the soft shells & smaller sizes unless this batch has low calcium content. You may look into that. In addition, when was the last time you administered Lasota? NCD can also cause reduced size & soft shelled eggs. Success.

earlier today i spoke with Davidsfarm about Animal care feed. i suspect there is problem with their feed. of recent we(i & davidsfarm) have experienced drop in production and am begining to suspect the feed. like Ayostically said the feed is finer in particles and does not look like the normal feed i know.

What exactly is going on in our institutions. The earlier they stop this rubbish the better. This one is charcoal the other bathing in mud.....smh

Is like we are having longer nights and shorter days. How does this occur. Sometimes I woke up 2 to 3 in the night thinking its morning.

Do you experience such and what is the cause. Does the clock move slowly in the night and faster in the day.

yes brother you can administer amoxitin to laying birds. it wont affect their production. also check if it contains sulphur. if there is sulphur please dont administer.

Administer antibiotic routinely and dont abuse it.

I spent N10,260 with kerosene - 600 birds. I was thinking gas will be cheaper. Like how much does 14kg gas cost?

It depends on your location. Its around 6k-7k

thanks twomcfemad and eggcelent. my problem with charcoal is not only the cost and the fact that the ones i do get aren't good. charcoal stoves do not seem to be effective for me. my farm is close to a small pond, and the place is naturally always cold. if gas brooder is more effective than charcoal stoves, i can go for it and utilize my poultry litter and goat litters to produce bio-gas for it.

i support eggcelent and twomcfemad. if you spend 5k for your set of birds please continue with charcoal. my birds(2000) are 11 days today and i have spent about 9k on charchoal. so i advice you stick with charcoal. you can also try kerosene stove. its effective and less stressful though slightly higher than charcoal in terms of cost

@eggcelent and fellow farmers The birds came in on friday last week. I ve been busy with other stuff that why I did not post anything. We received a total 2046 birds. 3 died on transit while we lost one the next day.so far the birds are ok and are doing fine. We gave them lasota yesterday. Thank God for everything. Abeg make una pray for us, we need Gods grace and cash to finish this.
