@ nolonging From d way u started, calling Biina a fake expert, I thot U, being a genuine expert, will spell out the better way Sanusi Shd av gone about it. But for acknowledging dat he had good intentions but faulty approach, you are at least better than the 'northern agenda' propagandists |
If Atedo's bank deserves the axe, I'm sure Sanusi will not hesitate to reach for his axe. But like Fola Adeola built for GTB, I'm sure Atedo is another play-only-by-the-rule CEO that has built strong corporate governance in his IBTC. Atedo may not be as strict as Sanusi, but he too doesn't joke with ethics. I remember when he interviewed me one on one about 3 yrs ago, strictly business, merit-driven and he exuded brilliance. |
I like the topic of this thread: DM vs Nigerian Youths. Dele has fired the second shot, Nigerian youths, oya defend urself |
@Jacobs2412, Sanusi has never hidden his opinions on the way CBN were running things, to the dissatisfaction of the Ibrus that were benefiting from CBN's laxity. Ever heard that Ibru and co raised 2.5b to stop Sanusi's candidature? Sanusi stopped criticizing CBN when his name came up as possible successor to Soludo. And of course, morality demanded that, lest he be seen as campaigning for himself. Sanusi is one person that will tell anybody anything to his face. |
wow. . . this event don reach Nairaland. Happened just a stonethrow from my house. |
u needed no list b4 attending. We had already said we were inviting everybody. |
The action is not hasty . Infact,ICAN is stricter and doesn't joke with integrity. If it were ICAN, they would go further to suspend his membership, and make him face disciplinary panel, and may totally expel him. For conniving wt Abacha to steal just 100m, Anthony Ani, a former ICAN president lost his membership. |
Alhamdulilah, it was a success. 13 attendees, 2 Christians. More gists, pics, video later. @Javalove or Aremu, whoever has d video can post. |
When the likes of Atedo Peterside or Fola Adeola talks, you listen. London School of Economics-trained Atedo is the father of investment banking in Nigeria. He laid the foundation for what is now known to be a booming investment banking in Nigeria. He has the whole economy in his head. One of the most respected CEO in Nigeria. Atedo endorsement is a major boost to Sanusi's reforms. |

Nigeria needs prayers, serious prayers.[/quote]Yes, we need serious prayers, to: -see more of public servants with Sanusi's courage -see Nigerians look beyond ethnicity and tribalism in assessing leaders |
naijaking1:When the same positions were held by Southerners, heavens did not fall. |
mikeansy:Says who? If you tolerate non-sense, then you will watch your business collapse right in your face. I have narrated what happened in my organization few weeks ago. mikeansy:The same reason you also cannot claim you know Sanusi is pursuing a hidden agenda. |
naijaking1:BusinessDay reports of February 16-20 2009 retrospective? |
blueteeth:See how people are falling for propaganda. What you have seen in the newspaper is an advertorial. I also saw that advertorial. Anybody can say anything in an advertorial. What can be referenced is that Vanguard article and we have discussed the article here. The Sanusi supporters can also place an advertorial in a newspaper and put pictures of BusinessDay's editions of February 16-20 2009. I don't fall for these type of things. |
Sanusi has been a no-non-sense guy from his UBA and indeed FBN days. Read this: Before he became CBN governor, Sanusi was Managing Director of First Bank. And before then, he had been Executive Director, Risk Management at the same bank. When the leviathan called Transcorp was being set up, banks were virtually coerced by Olusegun Obasanjo’s agents to invest N100 million each. Most of them did, but First Bank reportedly did not. Why? When the paper got to Sanusi as Executive Director, Risk Management, he minuted on it, pointing out all the possible dangers, and how the investment could contravene the principle of corporate governance. He virtually told Obasanjo and Transcorp to go to hell. First Bank is today the happier for it, as we know what happened to the billions at Transcorp. It went down the drain. |
DELE MOMODU: ABUSE OF COLUMNISM There is no disputing the fact that Dele Momodu is one of Nigeria's most successful journalists, if popularity, connection and depth of pocket are anything to go by. We can't take that away from him I don't have any problem with his Ovation magazine, my problem with him is what he writes at the back of ThisDay every Sunday in the name of column writing. If he's not praising MKO Abiola or Mike Adenuga, he will be praising Ghana. At other times, he will be telling us how he flew from one airport to another or how he sat close to one personality. That is all he has to write on serious national issues. The most predictable columnist, if you ask me. Doesn't he see what other ThisDay columnists like Simon Kolawole, Kayode Komolafe, Yusuph Olaniyonu,Ijeoma Nwogwugwu and Chidi Amuta write on weekly basis. His analysis on serious issues are at best laughable. Dele needs to go back to his celebrity journalism. I can point to tens of Nairalanders that can do better, if given the opportunity to write weekly in ThisDay. Let ThisDay stop wasting that space. |

IMPORTANT NOTICE Assalaamu alaikum, Given the inconvenience and disorganization that may be associated with converging in Mama Cass, later moving out en masse(crossing the road) to pray monghrib and then reconverging, it becomes necessary to effect a slight change in programme. In the light of this, convergence and pre-Iftaar activities are now scheduled for ZENON HOUSE MOSQUE, 13TH FLOOR, ZENON HOUSE,OPPOSITE MAMA CASS. After monghrib, we'll now proceed to MAMA CASS to have the main Iftaar and other post-monghrib activities. DIRECTION: Zenon House and Mama Cass are just opposite each other, so no change in getting to the venue. On getting to Zenon house, tell the security men you are going to 13th floor. Lift ends at 12th floor so you have to stop at 12th floor and walk up to 13th floor. On getting to 13th floor, ask for the mosque. Or better still, call me on 08061198625 as soon as you are in or around the building. Convergence remains 6pm, so if you are coming from a distant place, you have to set out earlier. On going back after the programme, there should be no problem as those of us that are mobile can easily drop you off if our direction is similar. Once again, do not hesitate to call me should you have any clarifications. JARUS Moderator and Convener |
oyb:This reminds me of an incident that occurred a couple of days ago. About four of us were inside the elevator(one of us an oga in my coy, but came from Oceanic). There was this guy in suits beside us(maybe one of the marketers) and he was holding a magazine/book with a conspicuous advert at the back: OCEANIC BANK:BANK OF THE YEAR 2007, 2008. As the guy unconsciously turned the book to show the advert, everybody in the lift just looked at each other, and before we knew, come see laughter. Co-incidentally, everybody just burst into laughter at the same time. I didn't want to laugh, but I can't help it. Without anybody uttering any word, the laughter spread until we reached our destination. I pity the innocent guy holding the magazine. |
any you say |
As someone that is used to flying any next available flight(no preference) I have flown Bellview a number of times on domestic routes and I have not had any bad experience. Virgin is the only airline that I have had some unsavoury experience with. For now,I give Bellview passmark. |
24 HOURS TO GO |
naijaking1:Why the spamming of the thread with Vanguard article? Vanguard article does for you anti-Sanusi what BusinessDay does for us pro-Sanusi. You counter reference with reference, that is the way to argue. |

Jarus, please comment on the Vanguard's publication of March 2009, long before Sanusi was appointed.Vanguard has the right to do any investigation and come up with any thing. I don't have any problem with that, whether it's true or false. In fact, I'm not ruling out the possibility of the north having any agenda, but what I can put my money on is that Sanusi cannot be a pawn in the northern oligarchs' political chess game. Sanusi is the last person they can use to hatch such idea. Sanusi doesn't see eye to eye with these northern ruling class before. In fact they were initially against his choice by Yar'adua because he was regarded as being the bad boy of the north and too liberal. He had had clashes with almost everybody that mattered in the north before, from ACF to IBBs to the Emirs and even to Islamic scholars. I even wondered how he combined radical activism with banking job. Furthermore, in a recent interview, he recalled how he was approached by the northern elites(being one of their top bankers) after consolidation that their bank, Bank of the North(owned by the 19 northern states) had been swept away and he told them 'look, you had no bank, if your bank was good enough, it would have scaled the recapitalization hurdle' summarily telling these northern elites off. Therefore, I refuse to accept the claim that Sanusi is acting anybody's script. It's like saying somebody like Gani Fawehinmi is acting one Yoruba script. Mind you, I'm not saying that vanguard article may not have an iota of truth, but what I'm sure of is that Sanusi's actions are absolutely independent of the so-called 'plans' put in that article. Sanusi is doing what he personally feels is the way to go about the mess in the financial system. On the BusinessDay article, I accept it because it is based on facts and everything Sanusi is saying now have all been said by the newspaper in February 2009. |
