I just wanted to seek advice on how to go about it. can anyone help me out with ideas or links (apart from google)? how about examples of real occurences in nigeria or any state within the country for that matter or what do you guys think about about environmental degradation, as well as industrial pollution. |
thehomer: |
@thehomer so how were u created? |
Exactly mmw |
What difference have u made by fighting back? |
I've silently watched and read topics posted by u all defending ur beliefs and cursing each other out. Why can't we all just get along with each other instead of taking sides and squabbling with one another. Despite our beliefs, we have one thing in common - the belief in a Supreme creator. Squabbling about his identity doesn't make Him less than who He is and do not fool yourselves by thinking you are defending Him. If your God or belief in Him for that matter needs defending , then it really isn't worth trusting in that deity. I believe in our interconnectedness as humans. We all have differences and it would be foolish to assume we were all the same but our differences need not push us away from each other . Some of u have come to be my favourites - lagosshia, frosbel, sweetnecta, joagbaje, pastor kun… and many others I can't remember. I love you all- Really I do. |
Wow! But is that it? I expected an epic story. Thanks pastor J |
U ehn. Oya start the story of atlantis. I'm really interested |
Heiiiiii. I love nairaland. Nothing wey person no go hear. Where is the poster of this topic sef? But you guys let's be realistic, what's the point spending the rest of his life in a miserable marriage? He should let her go, it'll hurt but she'll get over it. |

@ tinyemeka How did u know classes were held today @ unilag? |
My parents own a fish farm and the way they slaughter those fishes is making me consider being a vegan for life. |
@ araysay Is this how u hope to make the world a better place? |
i think it has a lot to do with the emotions. The black baptists are reaching out to a people with whom they share a common heritage. @pastor j.You did'nt say anything about atlantis again. |
Waiting for your details pastor j. Atlantis has always intrigued me. Why is pastor kun always picking on you? |
Mr muskeeto are you a student ? |
Yes I am |
Na wa o. Only God can save us students. My days in unilag are numbered o. New hall will now become more rowdy. More pill popping, dope eyed boys will flock to the complex and I sincerely hope there will be no shoot outs. |
Thanks for ur replies but I cant help noticing that I may have been misunderstood and I guess this is partly due to my topic- I don't think it reflects what I had in mind when I posted it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that our people tend to place a lot premium on outward appearances ignoring who their victim is on the inside. Like exactly when you said you don't think virginity can be regained despite hymenoplasty- u related it to something deeper, way beyond the physical. Its not about a girl trying to deceive her partner… its about the girl being afraid of rejection because she isn't a virgin. Lots of people have made mistakes they wish they could correct and others like the self righteous beings they are make them feel doubly guilty about it which isn't fair. Christianity does place a premium on being chaste both for men n ladies but I find no such pre-occupation in jesus' ministry. He stooped to save that lady while others stooped to pick up stones to kill her… he didn't judge her by her past which is what humans do. |
Manmustwac thank u jare. I liked ur thread on atheist quotes. Some had me musing for a while |
Does it apply to just ladies alone? But that's beside the way, why are we always judged by outward displays of righteousness? |
Bad belle |
Why must tpia@ always insult others for goodness sake. If he found the topic uninteresting why didn't he just move on… he just called me a nitwit. honestly I didn't and don't appreciate it. |
And for your information O rude one, I am a Christian, and I've met different people on this journey but they at least give others the chance to talk. You seem to be happiest when you monopolize conversations. If you have nothing to contribute other than insults, please don't reply the topic. What rubbish! |
Its amazing how you find it easy to insult others. Of course I shouldn't be surprised seeing your 'religion' has narrowed your thinking. |
What I'm talking about is way beyond a romantic relationship although its still part of it. What I'm trying to figure out is the attitudes of people- parents, pastors, self righteous church goers who believe the best a person can be after being disvirgined is second best. Why is it that hell is always raised if a girl isn't found 'pure' but nobody bats an eyelid when its a guy? If Jesus was so concerned about virginity, why didn't he allow them stone the woman caught in adultery? |
About 5 yrs ago, I posted a topic on this same issue, but I was considering it from a very narrow and (I might add) a self righteous angle. In these past five years, a lot of water has passed under the bridge and I have seen people who are 'non-virgins' more honourable than supposed 'virgins'. An operation called 'hymenoplasty' can now be used to fake virginity and believe it or not, more and more girls in Nigeria are resorting to it in order to create some sort of impression. From all I've seen, I've reached the conclusion that while it is good for a person - whether male or female to keep himself or herself, its not necessarily a physical thing but a thing of the heart. Why do our fellow Christians find it easy to condemn anyone who is not a virgin and tag them labels such as 'impure' or 'defiled'. Boy it aint easy typing on . So what do you guys think ? |
˚☺k° ˚ I think I do |
˚☺k° ˚ . What kind of doctor are u then? |
It is for this very reason I stopped posting on the religious section. All squabbles and no insight. We keep going round and round in circles playing the blame game. What exactly is the point u guys are trying to make? Its not about church…many churches have become glorified cults… neither is it about the pastor … many self appointed pastors influence people with their own personal convictions, manipulating people and preying on their guilt . I think its more of knowing how extraordinarily loved we are and basking in the wastefullness of our father's love. If we all had our identities in christ intact, deceit wont be a problem. As for me, I'm not all that I should be but I cherish living the life of jesus everyday through the power if the holy spirit in me. Seriously people, ur criticisms won't do a thing to budge those who believe in these 'men of God' . Truth has its timing. Its not ur place or mine to convince . That's the Holy Spirit's job and be rest assured nothing escapes his attention. |
Thanks though. Are u a doctor? |
Hey george don't take it that far. |
