https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh3awQ0--eI Watch This video if you still dont understand!!!!! What are we doing here, and where are we gonna go, its like we just woke up one morning and then its welcome to the show, Don't ask any questions just go with the flow, make as much money as you can and try your best not to get broke, Copy everything you see on the tv from the hairstyles to the clothe, and don't think too often just do exactly as you are told and if you ever get confused just turn towards the alcohol, yoou still hear your thoughts then just turn up the radio as you've learnt to live the lifestyle of drug, sex and rock and roll, But in all honesty i just need to know is there more to this cylce than only getting old living and dying just to leave behind a happy home and a whole lot of property that somebody else is going to own, I just really need to know before the casket's closed cause am not willing to gamble with my soul nor am I ready to take any chances, This is just simple life questions and am just searching for some answers, like what are we doing here, and what is our purpose, How did we get here?? and who made us so perfect?? and what happens once we go or is this world all really where it ends, Questions we dont answer cause apparently we dont have to, theres no purpose to this life and our existence is mainly natural, Then is that case please let me ask you, Did you create yourself or was it somebody else who outfashioned you, cause you are faultless and unparalleled, you are a prooduct of supreme intelligence and am mainly been rational, For there isnt a camera on this earth that can come close to the human eye nor a computer that can compete along side the human mind and if the whole world was to come together we wouldnt be able to create a single fly, So many signs yet we still deny, and science tries to justify that all these could come from none, when its a simple sum ZERO+ZERO+ZERO can not possibly ever give you 1, So from where did all these order come, that everything has its origin, a maker a creator of its own I mean the only reason you are reading this Article is because somebody had to press SUBMIT!!!!. So we can believe in the BIG-BANG but not rather believe in He who caused it to explode!!!! ? Allah!! the creator of everything along with every single soul, the everliving the master the only one who is in control, Unlike His creation beyond our imagination and no He his not a man nor does he have any partners in association, He is on his own and no He did not ever leave us alone. Just like every manufacturer he left us with an Instruction Manual, the Qur'an and Islam and am sorry to jump into conclusion but its the only one possible. The only definition of God is the one and only, Supreme Being, its logical A book with Zero Contradictions with miracles that are above Scientific and Historical all reviewed over 1400years ago!!. Like the detailed description of the human embryo(Q23:14). "The description of the human embryo in the Qur'an cannot be based on scientific Knowledge in the 7th century", To the mountains as pegs holding form in the earths below(Q78:7) and the two seas that dont mix in a complete separate flow(Q25:53) to the planet in orbit alternating night and day as they stay in flow(Q21:33), the expansion of the universe(Q51:47) and the creation of everything from age to old(from water)(Q24:45).To the stories of the past and the preservation of Pharaoh(Q10:92), To identifying the lowest point in the land where persian defeated Rome(Q30:2-3), the gushing fluids that create man in the glands between the ribs and the backbone and not a word as change and its still the same, so explain how this was known.....over 1400years Ago to a man who couldnt read or write as he would recite whatever the angels spoke and if you still dont believe please try to come up with something that's even close but you can't So you took God as a mockery and His messengers as a joke!! Dismiss the scriptures as legends and tales of the ancient folk as we live life according to our whims, desires and hope saying this life is the only home we will ever know, we will live and die and simply turn to bones. Y.O.L.O(You.Only.Live.Once) correction after the grass dies the rain arrives and it regrows and Allah promises to do the same to your very soul(Q2:28) and bring you back from your very finger tips to your toes(Q75:4) As the all seeing supreme being watches us so close and we are surely been tested. in our wealth our health, in our self and every single thing we've been blessed with, So believe for we will surely be resurrected and be brought back to our Lord and account for every single deed as he hands us our books and orders us to read!!From the bad to the good and every thing inbetween you yourself will be sufficient for your own accountability(Q17:14) so dont be mad at me, you are the one who thought he wouldnt come back to me(23:115) I gave you a whole life long to search after me but you were busy with all that which was temporary, so read and glad tidens to all those who believe and if you ever disbelieve read and dont let that day be the first time you will find out what your life truly means READ!!!! |

There's nothing new about haters, they've been around ever since the beginning, people have been put down for what they believed in or whatever their values worth, I mean people from the lowest of values have haters, all the way to the best people to have walked this earth, From Jesus to Muhammad PBUH both, They were called mad men, crazy people , they had haters too, He was called Sahir, a Mashnun, Even these days names are still been called , books are still been written and films are been produced , He who thinks he is free from the criticisms of people is a mad man, , For the Lord of the world Himself has been wrongfully criticized these are the word of the Great Scholar Al-Imam Shatri, when He Himself and His own messengers have haters then its only natural that His religion would have haters too, but why , why is Islam critiscized so much , seriously why?? ![]() Is it because of the way we look? Even our religion specifically teaches that the color of your skin, your eyes, and hair doesnt make you better than anyone else. Is it because we look like we all come from the same country? Nay, I am from Nigeria and am a muslim too, Muslims are from everywhere, anyone can be a Muslim. Or Maybe Its because of the way we dress?? Its pretty comfortable on me I must admit. ![]() Is it because of our beards?? All key man in history had beards, look at Ibrahim, i mean Abraham Lincoln. Is it because of our Hijab? But didnt Mary mother of Jesus wear an Hijab too. Is it because of how we treat our women?? Although the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W said the best of you in character is the best of his wife, and he S.A.W was the best of his wife Is it because theirs so many of us? Maybe that's because Muhammad S.A.W. was the most influential in all of History, the most influential person in history, Is it because it looks like we are trying to convert every one? If you believed you had the most beautiful gift in the world, wouldn't you wanna share it with everyone else too, but even still I couldnt convert anyone even if I tried afterall I have no power Allah Subhannah WataAllah has all the power, this is why Allah Subhannah WataAllah says La'ikrafidin "There's No compulsion in religion" Is it because of the language we speak? We speak English too I mean this is English right?? Is it because of the food we eat? Halal Food is simply to assure that the animal is treated with uptmost mercy from the farm to the abattoir. Is it because of the drinks we drink and the drinks we don't drink? I prefer the sober life anyway, I would rather not blame it on the alcohol. Is it because we refuse to be silent when injustice prevail us? Well this is because Islam is very key with regards to injustice, Whenever you see one try to change it, and if you can't at least with your tongue a word!!!, and if you still can't at least with your heart. Maybe its because We love him a bit Too much, Muhammad Peace be upon him? But we are told love him more than our own selves more than our own mothers and I dont think its possible to ever love your mother too much, I have read his biography from multiple sources and what can I say, I love him, the more.., the more you learn about him the more you love him.. Wait maybe its because of the way some of us act Yes maybe its our fault, maybe its because we made you believe Islam was sent to a bunch of perfect people, when in reality Islam was sent to perfect the people, see Islam is perfect , Muhammad S.A.W. was perfect , but Muslim aren't.So I invite you to his way, to the way of Jesus, Moses, Abraham the way of God Almighty Allah. Discover Islam for what it really is, not from what he says, she says is, tv, radio no from what it really is, From the real Sources, Less hating more Educating so start reading today!!!!Start Reading Today!!!!StartReadingToday!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOy0SNycqTw |
If you’re someone who uses a computer for anything in your day-to-day life, you need data backup software. This software can ensure that your most important data remains after any sort of failure within your computer or mobile device. We have many things on our computers/mobile device that we have put a lot of time and effort into. Sure, we could go back and do it again, but it’s hard to get the feeling back from the moment you wrote the perfect song. None of us could remember everything we wrote down, so the best parts of what we created get lost forever. But protecting data is something all of us need to worry about, not just the writers, musicians, filmmakers and other creative people. Imagine storing every last bit of your financial information for a year leading up to the following tax season. You don’t have any hard copies of any documents because you hate how it clutters up your desk. Then your computer crashes, sending that information you painstakingly compiled deep into the digital abyss. You’re left scrambling and are likely going to file taxes late this year, if you’re able to file taxes at all. Take a big corporation for instance. They’re working on a multimillion-dollar project that has a lot riding on it. The project goes on for months and takes up a lot more time and money than anticipated. The company doesn’t believe in backing up their data because it’s a waste of time. They would rather work harder and faster to get the project done before they even need to consider backing up their data. One power surge and hardware failure later and they’re back where they started. Nothing can be recovered and they’re already behind schedule and over budget. Failing to protect their data could’ve lead to the undoing of their company. Consider a nursing home or other healthcare facility. All of their patient records are digital these days, which means that data could mean life or death for some of us. If they fail to protect their data and something happens, who knows the catastrophic results it could product. A patient could lose the prescription information for a medication they desperately need and the entire process would grind to a screeching halt while they try to locate the lost information. Medicine is the last possible area that should be slowed down by data failure. The above mentioned are examples of why backing up your data is crucial. Data backup software can help you protect and restore your data when something goes wrong. Depending on the software you choose, this could be a quick and painless process or a slow and arduous one. You want to choose the program that best suits your needs and accomplishes what you need to get done. Don’t be left out in the cold without your important documents again. Get data backup software and keep what should have remained on your computer the entire time. Just because computers aren’t perfect doesn’t mean your efforts to protect your data should be. A person can literally lose everything he has saved on his computer in a blink of an eye. The reasons are varied. At times it occurs after an ample amount of warning signs, other times it comes as a complete surprise (making it more disconcerting). When these moments happen - and they do happen, and quite often actually - one can only hope that he has saved his files elsewhere, otherwise, there is little hope that they will be recovered. Are you scared yet? If you don't want this to happen to you and your precious files (which I'm almost sure you don't), read on and find out how to create backups for your many important files. But first off, if you're still not convinced of the importance of backing up, here are a few reasons that might convince you. Top Reasons Why You Should Back Up Your Files Data loss can happen in many ways, the most common causes are physical failure of your PC, accidental error, theft or disasters like fire, flood and dropped coffee mugs! 1. One of the few universal truths in life is, no matter how in control you are of your universe, something, someday will inevitably go completely wrong, and usually it is something that will happen beyond your control. The same is true for the files on your computer/mobile devices. No matter how updated and top-of-the-line your hard drive is, it will someday inevitably give up on you and your files. 2. Numerous viruses abound in the computers of individuals around the world - computers that send and receive files through the Internet. There are also the numerous floppy disks, CDs and flash drives that connect to your computer. Any one of these can be a carrier of a harmful virus that can wipe out the data stored on your computer. If you don't have a backup for this data, you're most likely never going to see them again. 3. Power failures are one of the computer's worst nightmares especially in Nigeria!! (which also include running water and becoming obsolete). They happen without notice, especially when the whether is bad. And power failures can just as easily ruin your computer and all the files on it. It is another good reason why you should back up your files. The bottom line is it's better to be safe than to be sorry. There are many ways to bring about a data disaster, and there's only one way to be prepared for any of them, and that is through backing up your files. That's why am introducing to you one of the best Backup Software have been using it has saved me a couple of times and I bet you wouldnt mind having this great tool on your system.Just Signup for free trial using this link http://mypcbackups.tk . Mr. shekau released another video recently, I have gone through his speech and his claims are not only anti Islam but also very ridiculous for someone who claims to know the Quran. The following are his claims.... CLAIM 1:-"“We have not made ceasefire with anyone. We did not negotiate with anyone… It’s a lie. It’s a lie. We will not negotiate. “What is our business with negotiation? Allah said we should not negotiate,” (SHEKAU) RESPONSE:- ALLAH SAYS: "If they propose peace to you, accept it and trust in God. God is All-hearing and All-knowing” (Q 8:61) CLAIM 2:-"The kidnapped girls, we have forced them to change to Islam, and they've learnt 2 chapters of Quran already". (SHEKAU) RESPONSE:- “Let there be no compulsion in religion...” (Q 2:256) CLAIM 3:-"Which girls are they talking about, the chibok girls; I told you I have married them off, and they have settled in their matrimonial home” (SHEKAU) RESPONSE:-"Do not inherit women against their will" (Qur’an 4:19) CLAIM 4:-"our war is still on cause" what is the war....the war to make everyone Muslim” RESPONSE:-“If it had been your Lord's will, all of the people on Earth would have believed [in one religion]…” (Q10:99) May Allah destroy the enemies of our peaceful deen. Type Ameen if you believe that Boko haram groups are the enemies of Islam |

Today, to empower you with the right knowledge to making it BIG in the music industry, we will be sharing some key strategies with you. Today's strategy is titled: 10 Easy Steps to becoming a Successful Music Artiste in Nigeria. Now The stuff we have for you. With artistes’ rates moving from five to seven figures in recent years, it is indeed safe to say that the Nigerian Music Industry is growing. This growth might not necessarily stem from the depth of lyrics as we have seen many Nigerian artistes move from deep, emotive lyrics like “Sweet Mother” to repetitive lyrics like “Pop pop pop Champagne” or “Take Banana till you go yo” which has an amazing record breaking 16 repeats intro to the song. It is hard to ignore the fact that music today has moved from pretty simple lyrics to words that do not exist in the oxford dictionary talk more of Google.com. How do you explain the meaning of iyanaya’s “na na na na na na….your waist” or Flavour’s “Porokoto pokoro pakoroba”? What has changed in the Nigerian Music scene? Is it the psych/choice of the listening audience or the mentality of the musicians? Or could we attribute it to the age difference? With the type of lyrics that are being put out today by Nigerian artists, it would be pretty hard for an artist who sang “If I could runaway, I’d run with you faraway” to compete with someone who spills “Kukere I get money o” on the dance floor. My years of experience in the Nigerian music industry as an onlooker, songwriter, bathroom singer and a beat maker, has given me an insight as to what sells in Nigeria. Trust me when I say I have cracked that code as to how you can become a successful Nigerian artiste just by releasing one single! Here are the 10 proven steps you must follow religiously to become a successful artiste in Nigeria! 1. Mugu Master 101 You might be asking yourself “Wait a minute is this guy telling me to lick boots” Well Yes! If you must also know, lick the sole and laces of your boss’s boots along. The reason I tagged this as Mugu Master 101 is because, if you can’t act as a JJC in this industry, then trust me you are going nowhere! When I say act as a mugu, I mean be humble and gentle, act like you know no one, you have nothing and your voice is “just there” be willing to put aside your ego and listen to what the big boss (Coughs Don Jazzy) says. Even if it takes you two to four years to complete the Mugu 101 course, do so. Trust me this makes for a good “Humble Beginning” story so that when you finally sing “Fly” as Tuface did to announce his successful graduation from Kennis Music, people would be drawn to you. Wizkid, Dbanj and 9ice did it, so you also can do it. 2. Use this music formula (beat, lyrics and tune) Iyanya had to drop his “baby they don’t know how I feel about you” lyrics for “All my ladies… nze nze” after he had the privilege to listen to this advice you are reading at no cost. The kind of beat you should use must be fast-paced; you will find it in Davido’s “Omo Baba Olowo” and in many of “Terry G’s songs”.I’m assuming you are an average singer with no music experience, so I will advise you to stay away from P-Square’s beats if you don’t have the right tunes and sensible lyrics to back it up. Worried about your lyrics making sense? That shouldn’t be a problem because it doesn’t matter as long as you’re able to form whatever words that pops up in your head even if it is “bla blab la bla”…that’s another form of expressing yourself. . Ok, let’s do a simple practice on how to make up the perfect “meaningless” lyrics. Look at a chick (if you are a guy), what would you like to tell her? (You dey do me strong thing?) nah! Banky W has done that. Think about something you love (food, blackberry) or something Nigerian (Koboko). It will be silly to sing something like “Your love dey sweet me like Koboko” are you for real? Koboko dey sweet for body? Sing in tangent with the beat even of it means distorting the lyrics like “E dey pain me like Kobokoko kobokoko kobokoko” For the tune, look for a famous foreign tune and morph it into yours. Remove the Doh-reh-mis and add your own. A Brick&Lace “Love is Wicked” beats can be morphed into many songs. Imagine this was formed using the “Love is wicked beats”: E just pain like Kobokoko Yagayaga zagazaga Day wey you pass for Amukoko You and your friend on Okada… Now doesn’t that sound just like it? 3. Keep in shape This is already self-explanatory. You can’t be looking like Rick Ross and expecting your female fans to appreciate you. In order to be able to throw off your shirt at any given time, you will need to have the right 6packs (Please no hungry packs) but the right packs like Iyanya, Dipp and D’banj. Now if you a female artiste, then you need to shed off those unwanted fats around your stomach and reserve it for your hips and bust because this is what Nigerian men love and you need it for your photo and video shoots. Show some skin Now Nigerians love daring performances (You can trace this back to Fela’s days)). In order to have an engaging concert, you must be willing to show some chest on stage like D’banj and throw your shirt into the crowd like Iyanya.A Disclaimer: Please do not attempt this if you do not have a six packs and your body is only suitable for a Michelin advertisement. (This is not a sub for special ed)For the ladies, a little baring of the laps hurts no one. You can contact Tiwa Savage and Emmy Nyra for a few tips on how to bare it all and still look classy. 5. Hit the headlines (Controversy) Denrele once said “Good publicity is good publicity. Bad publicity is good publicity. No publicity is bad publicity”. Being in the news is key! Do whatever it takes to hit the headlines! You got to be kidding me if you need suggestions on how to achieve this. Ok, I’ll give you a few. Have several baby mamas, have several tattoos or date two popular celebrities, start a twitter fight by dissing another celeb or release a terrible song, breakup with your music label or have a groupie take a photo of you in bed while you pretend to be asleep. Please follow these suggestions at your own risk because I do not endorse bad behavior. 6. Form a dance step I’m serious about this. Let’s follow the trend of people who have their own dance steps. They get popular. Nigerians are always looking for new dance steps. Marvelous Benji did the “Suo”. Daddy Showkey brought us the “Galala”, and Iyanya introduced the “Kukere”. Ghana’s Azonto is still trending and we have found people like Wizkid doing their own version. 9ice had his own signature dance step. So did Tuface. MayD has this very unique dance step that looks like Azonto on both feet. P-Square remixed the Azonto step by giving us a hybrid version which they titled “Alingo”. You should come up with your own step if you are creative enough. 7. Get a slogan You think Tonto Dike was dumb when she thought of #Poko? We have seen artistes carve a niche for themselves with slangs that they use. Iyanya gave us “Your waist”, Durella would “Zanga” this, Dbanj is the custodian of “Kokolet, Labata and Lebete” while Tuface never fails to remind us that “Nothin dey happen”. You can use something like “Jati-jati”. Just a suggestion though. 8. Pally with bloggers You see yourself? After all the yanga and the blasting that you do on Twitter, you will still come back and beg the bloggers to publish and promote your songs for free. Bloggers can make or kill your songs o. don’t try us. Oh. I didn’t mention that I am a blogger too. 9. Collabo with the right people Nobody knows you and you want to collabo (record a duet) with an unknown artiste. Are you a learner? It is important to know your genre of music and feature the right people. For example imagine collaboration between Bez and Terry G? Or DBanj and Asa? Trying to imagine it gives me a migraine. If you are an Afro-pop artiste like Tuface, consider doing something with a Waje, Tiwa Savage (for the voice) or an MI, Ice Prince (for the rap) or a D’Prince, Wande, Wizkid (for the style). 10. Stick to the elders (OAPs, Social Media publicists, events managers) Your best friends and allies should be the On-Air-personalities, Social Media peeps, Events Managers and Music Producers. Consult these ogas at the top before you record. Ask the OAPs “What kind of songs do you callers like to listen to?” Ask the bloggers “What kinds of songs get the most hits”. “How do I create hype for my song or get Eko Hotel to host my event? Ask Clarence Peters “What kind of videos do people prefer to watch”. I’m not trying to tell you to follow the crowd; I’m trying to provide you with the necessary guidelines to create your own strategy. Putting all these together will help you go a long way in the industry. So, that's it for today. Kindly download this app to promote your music for free. 1 - The Pen Borrowers: They are always in the bank, common pen dey won't have. This people are very dangerous, once u borrow them the pen, u might find it difficult to identify them, At a bank in Nigeria, once someone tells u "can i have ur pen" Believe me bros, that is the last time u will see that Pen (except if u are lucky). 2 - The I Dey Your Back Team: Immediately they enter the bank, even before taking d slips (withdrawal or deposit) all they do is to know the last person and u hear them saying, i am at ur back. If care is not taking 8 people can tell u "I dey ur back", then at the end of the day, they cause confusion (na me dey hin back, I don tell am I was here before u blah blah) 3 - The No protocol team:These kind of people don't obey the first come, first serve slogan, they are mouthed in the bank, immediately they come in, they just walk up to the cashier or manager, he ask them to sit down and within 5 mins they have completed there transactions while u still dey dere dey look like mumu for queue.(There is God oooo) 4 - The Bank Door rejectees: These people will always have a problem with the bank door, then u see dem removing their belts, car keys, mobile phones etc and yet the machine keeps shouting "pls go back" My bros next time come to bank naked, biko, he go allow u in... # LOL! 5 - The slip wasters: These kind of people can waste slip for Nigeria, to fill the withdrawal slip or deposit slip na jamb questions, u see them canceling, tearing ,squeezing and taking another one. To write common 3780 naira in words na gobe. Even the so called undergraduates are found wanting in this scenario.. 6 - The exile men: These people usually behave like dem no dey this world since 2 years, they will always be asking for today's date, even after telling them the correct date, they will ask someone else again. I tire for these people. Believe me na only naija dis kind thing dey happun |

https://tasuedconnect.com/file/attachment/2014/09/8a42e9ee4efb743af60cec2788783e87_view.jpg Since the birth of the first university in the world the planet Earth and particularly Nigeria has been waiting for a university cum education, for a long time they waited for a school with not only a tag called university but a school that adds education as a major criterion in its programme and which better year could it have been if not 2005 when the erstwhile governor of Ogun state Otunba Gbenga Daniel proclaimed the former Tai Solarin college of Education as Tai Solarin university university of Education. The world stood still, tongues wailed, there were cries of joy from the educators that alas a citadel of leaning will be created for Nigerians and Ogun citizens to compete with the students of the World as they are fast outshining Nigerians in the Educational field. The naysayers and Bad belle (like its been said in our local parlance) were the ones to have spoken first as they gave negative reactions to the development. Remarks like "its only a matter of time before we see the downfall ","its rubbish creating a new university while others are left to rot". Its 2014 and already been regarded as one of the fastest growing university in the west some jambites, admission seekers and some Nigerians have perceived it wrongly. THE MISCONCEPTION The major perception about the school is the name "OF EDUCATION" as people think its only for educational courses only, another misconception is the certificate the student will be given once he graduates from this great school as its popularly said to be B.Ed. the mismanagement of the school is said to be another issue as people sadly says it's neglected, the teacher training exercise is also known to be the only programme students partake in Student training experience. THE REALITY AND ADVANTAGES Tai Solarin University of Education is the first university in Nigeria to have ever given Graduating students with double certificates meaning students of this great school are awarded "B.Sc(B.Ed).meaning science students are opportuned to choose between the two in the future The management of the school can also be argued to be one of the best in the country as being one of the first to embark on "public/private participation". The students also have vast experience in second year by having the industrial Experience and in the final year they partake in Teacher Trainiing programme This are some of the reasons why Tai Solarin University of Education is rated among the best in Rapid growth as people like Otunba Adebutuu Keshington, Chief Alex Onabanjo,Chief Otedola have vested into the school. The association of University of education couldn't have chosen another head quarter if not TASUED for bringing back to life Education and for being role model for universities such as The University of Education Ikere Ekiti,Adeyemi University of Education ,Alvan Ikoku University of Education and so many others .They publicly attested that they have alot to to learn from Tai solarin University of education..The first university of Education in Nigeria, the second in Africa and the eight in the World. Little wonder the university of education Winneba in Ghana had to partner with the great school for the progress of education in Africa. The dead Heroes of education would be smiling in Heaven celebrating the milestone achieved in seeing to the progress of the agitation they championed while they were alive. LONG LIVE TASUED,LONG LIVE NIGERIAN EDUCATION!!!!!! Source: http://tasuedconnect.com/blog/3/the-misconceptions-and-advantages-of-tai-solarin-university-of-education/ |

This article seems to be old but it's an interesting piece and still effective for more info vis. www.alhayatrelieffoundation.com We were dismissed as unserious when we started interest-free loan coop 13yrs ago – Salako By ADEOLA BALOGUN Friday 1 April 2011 Alhaji Dr. Taofeek Salako recently lost the post of the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode branch by a single vote. Apart from academic politics, he is also the national president of Al-Hayat Relief Foundation, an interest-free cooperative society with 33 branches in five states of the federation. He tells ADEOLA BALOGUN the story of the society, which he cofounded 13 years ago and how it has become a model for Islamic banking What is Al-Hayat Relief Foundation about? Al-Hayat Relief Foundation is an interest- free cooperative society, which started in 1997 in Ijebu-Ode (Ogun State). It was formed to rescue our Muslim brothers who were often forced to take loans from Shylock lenders, who charged exorbitant interests. More so, we observed that the practice was that when they took the loans, the lenders would not want the loans to be paid back. Rather, they preferred the interest to accumulate. We felt that it would be proper to come together and put up a cooperative that would be interest-free. What we wanted was to live and have all the necessities of life without unnecessarily getting them in the wrong way. Islam abhors ill- gotten and accumulated wealth; it believes that for whatever you own, it must be in halal way as opposed to haram. Six of us sat down and started talking to people about it, but unfortunately, the first set of people that we invited thought it would not be possible to float an interest-free cooperative in this environment and so backed out. But we were resilient and we continued with our membership drive and by the time we were about to do our annual general meeting after a year, we encouraged each member to come with friends and by the time we finished, the membership had swelled. Right now, we have about 33 branches in about five states. Since it was a novel idea when you started, what model did you use as guide? If we must be sincere with ourselves, heavy interest loan has killed a lot of brilliant and flourishing business outfits. We designed a format trying to follow Islamic teachings. Apart from this, we did not close our eyes to all the necessary areas like consulting legal luminaries, accountants, those whose services would be useful. We prepared our own unique accounting system, instructing our accountants to prepare it in line with what Islam would support and accept. We have about 33 branches cutting across Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara and Lagos states. You don’t collect interest on loans; how then did the organisation grow so rapidly? Al-Hayat holds meetings once in a month in all the branches. This is how we operate: we pay a development levy of N500 per month and this is what we use as running cost and it is uniform. Most of those that work there are members who carry out selfless services; they are not paid. We have provision for shares; once you become a member, the minimum shares you can have is 2,500 and you can save as much as you have. For you to take a loan, you must have been a member for six months and we give you double of what you save. For example, a member that has N50,000 gets a loan of N100,000, but the shares we have are what we use to run legitimate businesses. At a point in time, we sold shares to members to float a bottled water company to the tune of N10m. At the end of the year, those who bought shares get profit for their investment. If you take a loan of say N200,000, the repayable tenure is 20 months, and you are not going to pay a dime as interest. We do not use whatever money generated at a particular branch out to service another, no. What of membership? Do you have non- Muslims as members? As at now, we don’t have non-Muslim members because the constitution that set up the organisation stipulates that members shall be Muslims and working class people. We did that then because of the challenge we faced and that is the constitution we still operate. As a faith-based organisation, what would you describe as the impact of the organisation on members, apart from seeing to their financial growth? Apart from financial growth, it is also contributing to the spiritual development of members. We organise lectures and special prayers for different areas. We have different committees. Any fund collected on behalf of the organisation is receipted and judiciously used for what is meant for. What do you mean by working class members? Working class are those who are gainfully employed. Here we mean those who have a means of livelihood like civil servants, artisans and businessmen and women. We don’t take students who are still being cared for. The CBN governor is toying with the idea of Islamic banking in Nigeria. How does that affect your organisation? Even before the CBN governor came on board, about five years ago, we had a relationship with an investment company called Jaiz Investment, which tried to float Islamic banking in Nigeria. We are shareholders in the company, and we have even requested that Jaiz should give us a branch in Ijebu-Ode. Our working together with Jaiz Investment will be much easier than the CBN, but it is a welcome development by us. Based on your personal experience, would you say it is possible to acquire wealth without taking high interest loans? It is possible and easy to acquire wealth without going through interest-based organisations. From what we have done in Al-Hayat, a majority of our members are proud owners of vehicles and homes through the loans they took from Al- Hayat. The Mercedes Benz I bought last, I took a loan from Al-Hayat and I have paid back without paying a dime as interest. By the time I was working on my house, I took a loan from Al-Hayat. Al-Hayat has helped members to purchase plots of land by buying in bulk and sharing them among members who pay back gradually. Presently, we have Al- Hayat Golden Estate along Ibadan-Iperu Road. We bought about 23 acres with a plan to make it an estate to create an ideal environment and we have done the perimeter survey and the layout. The unit cost that Al-Hayat has given to branches is N250,000 and they are to sell at N300,000. So, what we are doing is to control it so that we don’t create room for unnecessary exploitation of members. What we are selling for N300,000 would probably double if handled by others. Al-Hayat provides the necessary amenities such as roads, water, security and so on. I believe that people can attain whatever level without going through interest-based organisations, banks or bodies. What about the leadership of Al-Hayat? Many of our members are literate and civil servants; they belong to different professions. For instance, I, as the national president, am a lecturer at the Tai Solarin University of Education; the national secretary is also a lecturer. The national treasurer is also a lecturer and the national vice-president is a principal of a high school. The national financial secretary works in the audit department of the University of Lagos, Akoka. I must say that having this class of personnel has been of tremendous advantage and the result is there for everyone to see. When I look back now, I can proudly beat my chest that we started a revolution, which has liberated a number of our people from financial difficulties. http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/generaltopics/we-were-dismissed-as-unserious-when-we-started-interest-free-loan-coop-13yrs-ago-salako/ |
