My brother, i would love to come home so bad oh, cos nowhere like home, but never easy to uproot you from where you are established oh.

Lol, I understand. I was born and raised in the UK but Lagos is the place to be mehn. Apart from the power supply issue and security (which can be taken care of with an inverter and being security conscious), LAGOS IS THE PLACE!!! BUT you need SERIOUS MONEY! cheesy

But I'll give it a shot when next I pass by. Though an advance warning, it might not be of good quality because of the distance.

Next time you pass by there, please come and show us some pix . . . Thanks

Usually, its just a drive by (on my way to a destination) and the bridge is at a distance. You cannot really appreciate it until you actually see it in person.

Pifa:

I have a question for those who live in Lagos or are familiar with the details of this project:

1) Was there any technical development that dictated the roadway running almost entirely on water when they could have put 3/4 of its entire span on the piece of land that juts into the water, and then cross the water over a shorter distance?

It seems to me a rather costly way to construct a roadway. I would have thought that the government and its private partner could acquire parcels of land from the roundabout in the bottom right of the photograph to cut across the peninsula and connect to the roundabout on the left over a shorter span of water. That could have shaved a significant amount from the cost of this project.

2) Why is the clearance over water so low? Wouldn't this prevent large ferries from traversing that body of water?

It’s a good project for Lagos, but I can’t help wondering if it could have been done differently.

Good questions. But I believe that for private investors to be involved, it means that was the most viable option.

pro01: Any numskull "scrambling" for the governorship position under the banner of the discredited and despised ACN is engaging in a futile mission. The "scramble should be left to the PDP or perhaps the Labour Party. The ACN is finished in Lagos, and by implication, the South West, and by implication, completely finished!

Let them go to Banana Island and Victoria Island to "scramble" for votes, and we would see whether 'elite' votes are sufficient to put them in power.

Very well said! Apart from the elitist and close associates of ACN. Everyone else HATES ACN'S guts in Lagos state. What's worse is that the bloody king pin of ACN, ojuyobo, is not even an indigene of Lagos but of Osun.

We are all economic migrants in lagos including the Yorubas from other states. No one was begged to invest.

About oil and lagos, oil was instrumental to the development of lagos but oil did not make lagos as lagos was more developed than the rest of Nigeria before the discovery of oil and lagos will out live oil.
Politics / Re: Only Lagos Can Survive Without Oil – Fashola by jason123: 8:37am On Jan 19, 2013
DaLover: Please what is wrong with saying
Nigerdelta thank you for the development you brought to Lagos,
SE thank you for your investments in Lagos,
Without which Lagos would probably be like Cotonou or Lome,

Why much you brag to your benefactors? Smh

Please shut your mouth!!! Where they begged to invest in Lagos?! There is nothing more irritating than that statement!! Please SE, sell your investments and move back to the SE states!! As if they invested in Lagos to simply develop Lagos and not to make money! Waste men! What about all the "mama, we dey go Lagos"?! Is that to invest in Lagos?!!!

Maxymilliano: Not surprising this news is coming from The Nation Newspaper, the ACN propaganda machine. Always good at whipping up sentiments to gain public sympathy.

2015 election is few years away, yet an unnamed source is talking about a likely clampdown on opposition leaders by PDP over a merger that is yet to see the light...

Talk of figments of imagination, and you are not far from the truth.

God bless you!

Its only those that are not in Nigeria that believe these ACN goons (I was part of them). Tinubu has literally sold Lagos state to the highest bidder and he is scared of losing 2015. Thief!!!!

2015 Lagos state is between ACN and PDP!!! ....And none of them will present an Igbo candidate as Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker or what have you! What you might get is political appointments, Festac chairman (appointed not elected) and reduction of tax collected in Ladipo!
Politics / Re: Lagos 2015: Non-Yoruba Will Be Governor. by jason123: 7:22pm On Jan 06, 2013
Heck, most of you guys are not even on ground. If you are, you'll not talk this way.

My predictions for 2015, as I predicted right for Mimiko, I'll do the same here:

1) If GEJ wins the PDP primaries, He'll find it difficult but He'll likely win. At least, he can forget the SW (PDP SW will still pull some for him) and North.

2) If GEJ loses the Primaries, PDP will retain the Presidential seat. All these ACN/CPC talk na wash!

3) PDP will win Lagos state IF they present a credible young candidate! Lagosians are tired of Tinubu.

4) Any party that uses an Igbo candidate will barely get 400 votes.

You've heard it here first!
Politics / Re: Lagos 2015: Non-Yoruba Will Be Governor. by jason123: 7:05pm On Jan 06, 2013
Get2go: There is no conspiracy against lagos indigenes. We are compaigning as rightful citizens of one nigeria, and we hope lagos indigenes give maximum support to any popular LAGOSIAN candidate come 2015. We are Lagosians!!

Stop wasting your time. The only "non-indigenes" interested in your adventures are fellow Igbos. Most non-indigenes don't have time for this. I'll advise any political party (like PPA..lol...who presented an Igbo woman with a Yoruba middle-name in the last election. I think only her family voted for her..lol) that wants to present an IGBO man not to WASTE their money. It will be a colossal waste!
Politics / Re: Lagos 2015: Non-Yoruba Will Be Governor. by jason123: 2:14pm On Jan 06, 2013
Get2go: THAT'S NOT THE THEORY OF CHANGE. NON-INDIGENOUS LAGOS GOVERNOR 2015: THE CHANGE IS NOW

Stop wasting your time. You wouldn't get deputy Governor, not to talk of Governor. Any party that presents an Igbo man (either as DG or Governor) will lose Lagos. You've heard it here first!

The only non-indigenes that have a chance are probably Edos or Itsekiris men, even at that, their chances are still very slim.

I can drop my last kobo. The so-called non-indigene that wants to be the Governor of Lagos state is of Igbo origin. Why is it that of all ethnic groups in Lagos state, it is only the Igbos that are agitating for this??

Get2go, go back to wherever state you came from. Leave Lagos alone. I am not a Lagos indigene but I'll not cause trouble in Lagos state. Just because I live there, does not mean I'll start dragging politics with the indigenes. Jos will be child's play compared to Lagos.

The time for a non-indigene governor (probably an Edo undecided like Segun Aganga) will come but certainly not now! NDIGBO, LEARN TO LIVE IN PEACE WITH YOUR HOST!

Gunmen kill US returnee in Enugu

By Cyril Ozor

ENUGU – Gunmen Wednesday shot dead a US returnee, one Ogbo Edoga, in his home town at Aku, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Report said the economist was trailed to the house of one of his kinsmen, from where the two assailants, accosted him and shot him at point blank. He reportedly died before reaching the hospital.

Family sources said the deceased returned to Nigeria to attend a meeting of Nsukka professionals based in United States, geared towards raising funds for the construction of an ultra-modern medical diagnosis centre to be built at Ede Oballa community in the area.

Eye witnesses said the killers had asked the deceased ‘where is the money? But the soft spoken Financial economist reportedly knelt down, begging his assailants to spare his life, only for one of them, said to have been armed with an AK 47 rifle, to release several shots around his waist after forcefully snatching his waist band.

The assassins were said to have escaped in a car belonging to a retired senior officer of State Security Service SSS who was passing by.

The incident, threw Aku community into pandemonium , disrupting programmes lined-up for the day, which included a reception for an indigenous priest and the dedication of a structure built by the deceased’s twin sister’s husband.

Following this development, security has heightened in the area ,as a combined team of Military men and policemen have mounted surveillance and patrol all over the area in search of the killers.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Nsukka zone, Ros Hamson Aladu, who confirmed the incident, described it as assassination . He therefore, urged all returnees in the area to quickly apply for police protection

I am now on ground in Lagos, Nigeria. As most of you know, I love Fashola die but I'll not lie to the diasporans (the uninformed ones which I was ignorantly part of few months back) Fashola hasn't done much this second term. The more time I spend in Lagos, the more I see the damages done by ACN.

My people lets give PDP (a credible, intelligent candidate) a chance in Lagos come 2015. ACN has relax... Moreover, the "lion of burdillion" should not hold that much power. Lagosians have sold their future to Tinubu!!! So sad.

Fashola is good (Nigerian standards) but Tinubu's hold over him is strangling his good name. PDP Lagos 2015, watch this happen!

Thanks.

For disturbing the peace we have in Nigeria. As the former ambassador and minister of communication of Biafra, is a tribalist not a nationalist, and his opinion was too biased. This has destroyed the fragile connections we have in Nigeria.
