Ricky_Ross: OBJ should shut the fuk up, he is the most corrupt Nigerian president alive, and he is by far the most greedy and ugliest president to rule Africa.
Ugly people are always wicked, mean and heartless.
In developed lands OBJ should be cooling off in prison by now. This is a bastardd that stole 16 billion dollars in the name of IPP without generating a single kilo of electricity.

babestella: As a matter of fact, yirobas are very fetish now, nowhere do we start saying it. I was born here in Lagos, and we grew up amongst the omo oniles of Isolo. I have lots of yirobas friends and enemies. We know how it is. My elder brother has an issue with one yirobas guy back in the days, my brother beat this guy so bad that he ran away. When he ran, my brother ran into our flat to look for a machete, when asked why, he said 'Taju has gone to get his juju" and he too must get ready. So he ran out with the machete. Guess what, Taju came back with a strange of juju that looked like belt, it is said that once one is beaten with that juju, the person will definitely go mad, so my brother confronted Taju, and asked him to raise that his juju if he will not be a dead man, behold, Taju froze while standing, very afraid that he could not raise his hands, because he certainly knows the obvious, that might just end his life.

So we have seen yirobas who are core criminals, thieves, ritualistic, fetish morons. You have no right to call the igbos names, check your home first, and you will see swarms of witch do tors, thieves, juju criminals. Talk of drugs, yirobas are there, after all, they even carry drugs to their holy land, talk of fraud, all tribes are guilty. Mentions it and tell me which tribe is not guilty.
Igbos are hard working, creative, and progressives. We all know what happened after the war, igbos ended up with nothing, today, check the records and see how far they have developed.

Shame.

Dark Knight: Believe me,if Gowon was truly innocent of the charges,he would have written his memoirs a long time ago. That's the least any reasonable individual will do.Rather than apologize and create room for further integration,Gowon believes he can defend his actions during the war.If he had consulted his lawyer before making such statements,he would have known that his chances of acquittal is one in a million.HE MUST BE AN IGNORAMUS.Sir,Every Head of State that has been tried at the ICJ for war crimes has been convicted. The mere fact that Gowon failed to prevent the genocide indicts him already. The Igbo genocide was the worst in Nigeria's history.Children and women were among the primary targets of that war.Can Gowon defend his 'no victor,no vanquished' cliche when every igbo was given just 20 pounds in exchange for all their biafran money. The aim of that war was not just to regain the Nigerian empire but to silence the voice of the igbos. If the Ohaneze or any igbo group were to take up this matter,it may lead to disintegration.

As for the man AWO,of blessed memory. He was the Financial Minister at the time and he knew the implications of returning 20 pounds to every Igbo for all their millions. It was actually his idea. This was a region that was ravaged by intense poverty and hunger. This act was one that would slow down development in the area and set the Igbo's back by over 30 years.Shortly after this period,Nigeria embarked on privatization that was under Awo.
The Igbo's had no money, the hausa's were not enlightened and the Yoruba's acquired over 80% of Industries in Nigeria.Truth be said,Awo's actions made him the most tribalized leader Nigeria ever had.Though nothing can take away the fact that he was a great leader for his people.

As a country,I believe we all can work together, hausa yoruba, igbo, urhobo, efik, ibibio, itsekiri etc(aside from the folks conducting the regular bombings in the North). Our strength lies in our number. No African country can boast of half of our population.
However in the interest of National Integration,Gowon should apologize to the Igbos. He is in the best position to clear the mess.
When will Igbos apologise to other Nigerians for killing their leaders? When will Igbos apologise for bombing and killing Yorubas in Lagos? When will Igbos apologise for the MID-WEST atrocities?

Gowon, you are a GREAT NIGERIAN!!! God bless you. You did what you did in the best interest of Nigeria and you are vindicated!

Biafra rep: Gowon will surely die a misrable death, for an old man to lie so blatantly, denying the pogrom and genocide before and during the war that claimed over 2 million people, which everyone knows is so sad, yet this same devil have been going about deceiving himself with the so called Nigeria prays. for showing no remorse for the defenseless children and aged, men and women he massacred in the most savage way only comparable with the holocaust, Gowon will surely occupy the hottest part of hell. the blood of those you killed are crying for vengeance and the curse will remain with you and your descendants, thank God that already in your lifetime, the same treatment you meted to others is now being done to your people in Plateau, what goes around really comes around and that is karma.even if you escape man's judgment, will you escape Gods? you are no different from Hitler and the same opprobrium being cast on him will equally be cast on you when you die. you usurped a rulership you did not merit and became a pawn in the hands of the Hausa/Fulani, you reneged on Aburi that would have made Nigeria a really great country today and plunged us into a war but in a twist of irony, the same kind of war has been brought to your door step, the evil that men do.... PoliticsRe: Dr. Nwaezeigwe Defends Awolowo On Achebe’s Civil War Memoir by jason123: 8:53am On Oct 26, 2012
Those saying were no atrocities committed in the Mid-West are simply dishonest and funny. How many times do I need to post STORIES of it on NL?
http://www.dawodu.net/midwest.htm

Some military officers then persuaded a number of traditional rulers in the Ibo-speaking areas of the state to sign petitions calling for a merger with their "kith and kin" in the east. . . . .
---------

Outright molestation, harassment and killing of non-Ibo civilians occurred on a daily basis. At night "suspected saboteurs" were fished out of their homes and arrested. The Hausa community in the Lagos street area of Benin and other parts of the state were targeted for particularly savage treatment, in part a reprisal for the pogroms of 1966, but also out of security concerns that they would naturally harbor sympathies for the regime in Lagos. But non-Hausas were just as badly treated. And as the hostility of the local population became more intense, so did the degree of indiscrete brutality for "internal security". Non-Ibo alumni of St. Patrick's College, Asaba and Government College, Ughelli, found to their chagrin that old school ties meant nothing in the new . . . .

---------

Radio broadcasts "educated" the public about the role of 'gallant' Biafran troops who had only come to liberate them from the "bondage of the feudal Hausa-Fulani oligarchy". An economic cooperation agreement was announced between the 'independent' states of Biafra and the Midwest. The truth, though, was that Ojukwu retained authority to approve all expenditures made by the Okonkwo regime and it was not until September 13th that normal postal, telephone and telegraphic services between Biafra and the Midwest were resumed . . . .

------

There are undoubtedly some historians (10) [size=16pt]who see similarities between Ojukwu's invasion of the Midwest and Hitler's March 1938 march into Austria (the Anchsluss) following which he secured the annexation of Sudetenland in September (23). I think we can infer additional reasons, based on the operational and political details of the campaign, seen in light of the Nigerian situation at that time. . . .

------
In a pattern of behavior that can only be described as self-destructive, the "liberation" force went molesting, Desecrating, kidnapping, torturing, detaining and even killing local figures whose support they badly needed (14, 17). For example, Mr. J. O Adeola (Commissioner of Police), Mr. Olu Akpata (Permanent Secretary), Mr. Sam Umweni (of Radio Nigeria, Benin) and Mr. J Imoukhuede (Head of the civil service), were abducted from Benin and taken back to Biafra
--------

----------------------------------------------------------------
By the time they reached it, Biafra's outnumbered troops had fled, along with many Ibo civilians and $5,600,000 from the Benin treasury.

Stop talking like an illiterate, Lagos was once Nigeria's capital, that is why it is what it is today, if not, lagos would'nt have been better than the Ibadan of today. Ibadan is the heart of oduduwa nation. Tommorrow you will tell us Abuja dropped from the sky.
Try to understand my point. Lagos ISLAND was the capital not the STATE!

Nice one Lagos state. At least, the state is MANAGEABLE compared to other Nigerian states. Btw, I am in Lagos as we speak and there are no molues so far. Diasporans, do not be deceived!

Secondly, how was Lagos state built with "oil money" and other states were not? Is it not the same federal allocation all states get from Abuja. Even before the advent of Abuja, only the Islands were "bubbly", since when did oil money build Ikeja, Surulere, Yaba et al? Some people are really confused. undecided

PoliticsRe: To The Nigerians Abroad: The Truth And Lies Of Lagos (my Assesment) by jason123(op): 11:00am On Oct 21, 2012
jason123: First of all, I must say, KUDOS to GEJ and PHNC. The Power Supply situation in Nigeria has greatly improved. At least, you get 16-20 hours of constant POWER SUPPLY which is unusual and welcomed considering how it was during my last visit to Nigeria (YEARS back).

Concerning Lagos state:

Lagos state has GREATLY IMPROVED. The traffic lights (most people adhere to it but you trust Lagosians, a few, especially the Okadas and Danfos break the lights), Lasma guys enforcing the law (I see everyone with their seat-belts strapped on, no answering of calls etc), the street sweepers cleaning every nook and cranny (God bless and reward them abundantly), BRT functioning well within their designated lanes, the RRS and ambulance (Rapid Response Squad) vehicles and personnel stationed at strategic places all over the state, monuments (eg Lekki-Ikoyi bridge. The first suspension bridge in West Africa is almost completed. I saw the bridge myself and felt a sense of pride being a Nigerian), parks (eg Oshodi looks good now compared to 10 yrs back), the dump site and recycle center at Ikeji (I think Alausa)- and before I forget, the roads repair personnel cannot be left out. They work day in and out to ensure smoother roads (I see them alot in different places with their trucks parked and the guys repair the little pot-holes with bitumen and granite), although most roads in the states are still VERY bad.

Indeed, Governor Fashola has tried! He has tried compared to other states. I traveled round with the exception of the SE and most of the SS (cause of the kidnapping situation). I also could not visit Delta state but I stayed in Edo state for a while (I really enjoyed it! To my Edo brothers, ere gue! wink) and to be honest, Governor Oshiomole really tried on Ring road and its environs but the rest is not praise worthy but the people of the state love him undecided (He is better than the Igbinedions)-more can be done in the state. As for other states (Most of the NC, SW, NW; , all I can do is SMH!!!! sad. Only Ogun state and a few towns in Oyo state tried)

Back to Fashola,

My dear Fashola fans, FASHOLA CAN DO MORE.

1) Most of the roads are TERRIBLE! Iyana paja, Mushin, Apapa/Wharf etc are in VERY TERRIBLE STATES! Haba!!! What is he doing? He has tried, YES but more can definitely be done!

2) The LASMA guys are thieves! How can one know whether a road allows one-way traffic or two-ways. Yes, there are sign boards before you enter some very few roads but MOST are without sign boards.

3) The money collected in Lekki is just absurd! 300N just to enter Lekki and come out?! Haba, that's too much!

4) The "thieving" Ojuyobo (Tinubu) has virtually owned the whole Lagos state and indeed, most of the SW except Ondo where MIMIKO will DEFINITELY WIN (I spent some time there and I know how the people feel)!

Fashola has tried but more can certainly be done!
grin grin grin wink wink wink. Sorry ACN but LP wins AS PREDICTED!!!!
PoliticsRe: To The Nigerians Abroad: The Truth And Lies Of Lagos (my Assesment) by jason123(op): 11:37am On Oct 20, 2012
Ricky_Ross: Nice report, I commend fashola as well, and I know he needs to do more, he concentrates mainly on the high brow areas, i mean the big men quarters, he forgot the poor people that voted him in.

Re- SE, South East is very safe, nobody is kidnapping you unless you come back and start bragging and boasting and club endlessly. I come in and out of Nigeria with rich friends and poor friends, none has been kidnapped. If you use your head you will be safe in Nigeria, but if you start calling people weeks or months b4 u come home, and u start telling them how much investments you have, you will be betrayed by your best friend. I don't tell anyone my going out and coming in except my immediately family. You can come home with 20 million dollars and invest it and go back without problem, but once you start clubbing a lot and start going from one joint to another one day people will notice your extravagant lifestyle and set you up.

Next time come to PHC, Enugu, Owerri and Uyo and you will be marveled how fast Nigeria is developing. In Rivers state they have a brand new city built from scratch with first class facilities. You can Google GREATER PORT HARCOURT CITY for more info..
Thanks for the sound advise. Rivers, Imo and Enugu are next! Very very soon, watch this space!
