dcitizen: @2mch, ur argument lack accuracy and logic. If somebody like u still believe dat ndigbo constitute sizeable number of 7percent in lagos, need to have ur brain and mind properly examine becos u are suffering from wat and historians who best described as paradigm delusion. Let d fact be told. Igbo constitute over 40 percent of the population of lagos. And the uniqueness of the set of pple is dat dey bring civilisation and monumental economic and social development to their host community thereby moving the entire country in d direction of national integration and national cohesion. If i can be honest wit u, over 50percent of the investment in lagos is in d hand of ndigbo and the same for the capital, abuja. Dis feat of monumental achievement is not an accident bt a health product of sheer determination, patience, innovation and wisdom which are rare among other tribes. The agitation of the igbo to have a fair representation in lagos politic is in good faith and right order.wat we need is competition and protection not compensation. Intra competition among the igbo pple may have some challenges but it is the biggest power of supremacy of the ndigbo race as a whole becos healthy competition in all sphere of life drives innovation, and adventure which increase global and national competitiveness of the igbo pple. There is no crime in expansionate and adventure if u have the instinct and courage. Igbo have set the high standard to other tribes and let them follow suit. Let d other hausa and yoruba will dwell in south -east region be more competitive and desist from propaganda and favourism. Let them contribute their quota to d development to the region to help in national and social integration of the nation as a whole. Hausa and igbo have the common trait of pilgrimmage or migration to some other state not becos of shortage of land bt becos of adventure, expansionate and commerce
Which are noble ideals. Igbo will not play tribal politics like d yoruba counterpart becos of their exposure and high intelligence quotient, strong competitiveness, enduring azikiwe legacy of mainstream politics bt wat we will play is politics of developement. Pure and simple.

I myself have been racially abused. I myself have been stopped and searched for no reason. I myself was not allowed into a club one night because the bouncer said "You wont like it in there, its only students" and I was a student!

But these things happen even in Nigera...even on Nairaland! So you cant escape racism or its cousin tribalism anywhere....You just have to learn to deal with it...So you think Yoruba's can honestly carry weapons against Igbo's in LAGOS? With the Millions of IGBOS in that town?

Bros allow it... grin grin grin

Certainly not! I don't pray for such but it does not mean we should push it! The so called millions of Igbos go back to their SE states every Christmas, hence, if Yorubas wanna strike, they can. A man cannot run away from his own land. Yorubas, Igbos and everyone else have been living peacefully (except the Hausas in the early 2000's and they got what they deserved), lets keep it that way.

I swear down you guys no dey reason at all...

If you want to see the impact of immigrants in Britain, look how many british athletes are Black or Mixed race.

How many English players are there in the premier league.

In Sheffield, where I partly grew up, all the shops are asian, all the taxi drivers are asian. Similar situation in London.

The Polish are EVERYWHERE.

There's always gonna be a racist element, there will be racist people, but how is that different from Shymmex ordering igbo people out Lagos?

So because immigrants have an impact in London, it means their numbers cannot be reduced?! Dude, what are you on about?! Anywhere in the world, immigrants will always have an impact, especially in the labour sector of the community. Why? Because they do the job the locals are not willing to do. How many Yoruba guy wanna sell spare parts?! How many Hausa guys wanna be a chemist?! How any ND guys wanna be a taxi driver in PH?! Very few hence, the migrants will dominate that sector. Likewise, how many White Londoners wanna work as a care giver, stall owner, Kebab seller or street sweeper? Little, hence, us immigrants are useful to do these things.

But our population can easily be reduced. Stricter immigration laws, lack of communal tolerance, increase in tax, discrimination etc can very easily reduce the population. The same thing can happen in Lagos, already the Lagos House of assembly passed a law to make Yoruba the official language in the House. Why can't we, the so-called non-indigence fight this law? Shey we no plenty reach Dude, please be very realistic! If a full blown tribal war should happen in Lagos, the Igbos will suffer terribly but Lagos will suffer as well. Let's not pray for such, hence, trouble dey sleep, yanga go wake am!

Like I posted above, most of what you hear sometimes are just chants. For example, most people who say Oshiomole is doing so well say so because they keep comparing him with lucky. As long as you keep comparing him with lucky, he will always emerge a superstar. But when you compare him with expected standards, it becomes a different thing entirely and after 4 years, all the flood points in Benin are still as bad as ever. No change. He like Fashola, has concentrated in beautifying the city center and providing transportation. He has renovated some schools too. But when you look at many other index like workers welfare, industries, social services, health care, just like Fashola, he comes up very very short.

Right!!!

Billyonaire: Lagos is the richest state. Yet, the road on my part of lagos is tolled. I pay 150 each time I pass. The roads are developed based on PPP, every bar I enter, they charge me VAT and service charge, me i never know what Fashola has done for my part of Lagos yet. Cos Government is not giving me water, no light and the road, I drive, I pay as I pass. I hear Fashola is trying. Congrats to him, but I no feel it. Sorry.

And Rivers state is poor (second richest)? What about Imo state (5th richest)? Pls, find another excuse!

I hope you are aware of the internally generated revenue of Lagos State.I can tell you that in relative terms, Fashola is not performing well in Lagos State. If some other low income State Governors can manage the huge resources that accrue to Lagos State on monthly basis, you will never mention Fashola's name when it comes to performance. Its obvious many of us don't take cognizance of income disparity among the 36 States of the Federation before drawing conclusions on who is the best Governor. Aside from the fact that Lagos State Internally generated revenue is higher than that of Imo State, kindly look at the monthly Federal allocation that goes to each state on monthly basis with particular reference to Imo and Lagos States and get back to me asap.

I couldn't find a RELIABLE IGR data (manny4lyf and co will know what I am talking about, as we have had this argument before). However, think about the logistical difficulty Lagos face compared to Imo (remember, OVER 28 times Imo's pop density). Also, no matter the IGR, IMO still receives 13% derivation, yet you think Rochas is better?? I have not hear of many capital projects from Imo state ( the only thing he has done is the free education which I commend) but just yesterday Fashola commissioned 3 projects, even Chime is better in that aspect!

1. Fashola
2. Rochas
3. Akpabio
4. Amechi
5. Oshiomole

Rochas cannot be above Fashola because Imo is an oil producing state, therefore, they receive extra income apart from the normal monthly wages.

Also, Imo state has a population 4.8 million (density=710/km2 (1,800/sq mi)) while Lagos has a population of 18 million, 3 times more than Imo state (density=20,000 persons per square km. more than 28 times of Imo state population density)

ROSSIKE:

That's the recipe for all the evils of the world today. It's ok to exploit the poor, and engage in slave trade killing millions of people in the process since we can all make money and build big rich developed countries like the USA at the end of it! That the bible supports this ideology is just another indicator that that book has absolutely nothing to do with the Creator of the universe, but is merely the work of men.

But the Bible is CLEARLY against exploitation! Have you heard of the "tax collector" before?

Secoond, the bible say, "Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land."Isaiah 5:8. Bruv, the Bible's position is clear. WE need wisdom to understand it

boko_halal: @Jason, thanks for your response esp. for the scriptural backup, but are you implying that even before the beginning of an endeavour, more drive should be planned for channeling towards the end of the endeavour?

Sorry for the extremely late response.

The thing is that the word of God is a double edged sword! It can mean one thing or the other or even both; it might mean something to you while it means the other to me. We need wisdom to understand it (If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him James 1:5).

However, if we go by the literal meaning, then we should always work towards the end of something than its beginning. After all, the reason we are Christians (assuming you are but if you are no, it really does not matter) is to be counted AT THE END as one of God's chosen and to make heaven!!!

Even in life, we tend to enjoy the end of things and events more than its beginning (Sex, Graduation, Weekends etc).

I hope that helps?!

for the fact that he is on uniform then, he's on duty.

i have said it before and i will say it again, the brt lane should be renamed the emergency lane. For all military men, police, ambulance, governors. And people on special duty.
That was hypocrisy on the part of fashola, when those roads were built, the brt was not considered. Take a look at the ojota/yaba road, it was initially a three lane road and still had serious traffic.i mean Heavy traffic. Now that the brt has come in, most time that lane is left empty with long queues of cars in traffic struggling to share the the remaining two lanes.
looking at the blockage of the third mainland bridge, i would have expected the govnor, to open the brt lane for more road users, but NO, his stubbonness and hypocrisy won't let him.

Lastly, it is the biggest insult on the part of the governor to come and threaten a colonel in the Nigerian Army, On his Nigerian Army Uniform, in an official Nigerian Army Vehicle, in Nigeria for a soo called offence he foolishly put there. Its disrespect like this that call for military take overs. That colonel would have been the governor of Lagos State in a military setting.

I think this issue should be looked into.

If the colonel was right, why was he apologising?! Why was he saying, " I'm sorry. I am sorry sir!" Some of you guys need to be shot! angry
