Pavore9: l know people complain that most of the highend clients attach strigent measures. l have no issues wit that if it based on quality because personally l won't b comfortable selling contaminated vegetables to my costumers, l must be sure of ur practices. Meeting up with their quality involves more cost in production. Yes we can make it. I hate sub standard production. It irritates me. Due process must be followed during production. That's it. |

jethro2: Nice one. I think we as farmers should create a forum where we can all put prices per kilo, location for farm produce. Will it be possible to have a Farmers Market with cold stores that all fresh vegetables and fruits can be dropped for customer to pick especially in the South West (Lagos) because of its large population. Most enlightened people needs quality farm produce. Like Jasper suggest, this might require aggressive marketing. For instance interested participants on this forum can markets every products in their neighbour hood and earn some percentage. Products that meets quality will only be accepted. Just suggesting I think consistent production is key to market. Like I always say. No matter how much you produce in Nigeria, there's always people to buy. After that, we talk of export. |

abolyem: With even the point you made above, can you compare them based on the indices u stated and tell who is better btw GMB and GEJ. Did the Naira fall againt Dollar during GMB regime? tell us at what rate GEJ met Dollar and what is it now. then you will know the reason why price is increasing in his tenure. And don't forget, they have rumored, pump price will still increase in June if they are still there. That shows u present Govt doesn't have any solution to stabilize Naira and have good effect on our pump price.
Compare GMB government with that of GEJ head to head in Performance, i believe you will change ur mind if u are sincere with Nigeria. Am not conparing GMB to Jonathan. Don't get me wrong. I might vote GMB (depending on who his running mate is). But that doesn't mean Jonathan is the worse president naija has ever had the way apc minions are painting him. I remember in 2007 when obj was looking for 3rd term, we all fought against like our lives depended on it. But now we are all taking obj seriously. Funny Nigerians. GMB is about the best president we ever had but stop making Jonathan look like the worst of the lot. To me, obasanjo was worse. |

erico2k2: Guy I think its you who is getting it wrong, Naira had more value back the days so any increment would have devastating effect,U should measure increment in % rather than the money value. So that guy was right, all that being said an Increment of %300 is worse than an increment of %100 at any time now or in the future. Are we not both saying the same thing? Maybe you are mistaking me for the other guy. That is if you are agreeing 70k to 5naira and 20naira to 75naira are both worse than 65naira to 147naira |

abolyem: Kindly minus =N=65 from =N=140 and tell us which difference so far is up to this. Also minus =N=65 from =N=97 and tell us which of the difference therein is higher than this
be objective boy. You are funny.... have you heard of devaluation of currency? A book worth 5naira as at 1980 is worth well over 5000naira now. Before you make ridiculous post, try and be adviced. Naira was not always as worthless as it is now. Except you are counting figures alone of which then you need to go back and attend economics classes. Speak wisely "boy". Lol. Ignorance is just too funny |
Education › Re: History Of Fuel Price Increases In Nigeria. by jasper7(m): 10:54am On Dec 16, 2014 |
abolyem: From this, Abacha even appear better than GEJ. Plus GEJ increased with the highest difference out of All. What a pity. Pls explain how Jonathan's increment is the highest? When there is a 70k - 5naira under Shonekan's regime? Even Obj's increment is worse, he met it at 20naira and left it at 75naira. Jonathan met at 65naira and is leaving at 97naira. And somehow Jonathan is the bad guy? Nigerians, we can sign a deal with the devil himself in order to get rid of a demon. What you forget is that they are all the same. And the devil you are running to will chase that demon away and bring a thousand more |
Agriculture › Re: Let Us Talk Marketing! by jasper7(op): 10:43am On Dec 16, 2014 |
On a personal note. I have hardly had a problem with marketing. Maybe because I studied business or just natural talent. I have a sweet tongue that way. Marketing words just rolls off my tongue naturally.
I am of the school of thought that if a farmer puts in as much effort as he does in farm work at marketing, he'll double his profit margin. But this is not very accurate because farm work will suffer therefore reducing productivity.
But, incoporating a marketing company whose sole aim is selling consumer goods to the retailers directly is not such a bad idea. I don't see why a farmer cannot be the farmer and the wholesaler at the same time.
I mean, what does it take to be a wholesaler? Finding retailers who you supply goods to at a reasonable price. That's all o. Nothing more. But they make you feel it is rocket science.
How do we reach this retailers? We need to step out from our farms a bit. Visit the markets. Reach people, talk with them. Introduce our products. And for this, you need to employ hands. As many hands as possible. Marketers, the same way the banks do.
Do you know that banks pay over a billion naira monthly to marketers. Whose only job is to source new account holders. Basically, you need an account, and the banks know that even without reaching out to you, you'll visit and open accounts in their banks. So.. why spend so much on something you'll still get in the long run?
The answer is simple. MARKET WAITS FOR NO ONE! If you understand this basic principle of marketing as a farmer, you are good to go. |
Agriculture › Let Us Talk Marketing! by jasper7(op): 10:22am On Dec 16, 2014 |
Well, I know this will interest virtually every farmer. I think, marketing seems to be the greatest challenge fresh food farmers face.
Believe or not, not every food must go through processing. Most are better sold fresh. In fact, fresh vegetables seems to be the more expensive of the both.
Is the solution to the problem, processing? I think not! Fresh food is needed in the market, badly! But between the farmgate and the end-user market. There seems to be a burnt down bridge.
Can you imagine that the marketers make over 100% profit from selling fresh food, buying cheap and selling at maximum profits, yet there is still scarcity in the market.
Please, this is for experienced and practical farmers, with all the marketing gurus in the house. Let's talk on how to solve this now!
The rain is coming and farming will soon commence in large scale. Let's have a system of marketing our goods. |

Sports › Re: Jose Mourinho And Ball Boys by jasper7(m): 2:58pm On Dec 08, 2014 |
Elmaxcentini: JOSE MOURINHO AND BALL BOYS; I used to like Mourinho but starting to think that old adage about absence making the heart grow fonder was at play, as I can now no longer stand him. Is he serious here?! He is the most hypocritical human being on the planet! His main tactic when coming up against a team with any sort of similar technical level to his own team is to waste time from the first whistle. Just a month ago against Liverpool they were holding onto the ball at throw ins and throwing themselves to ground - even saw Hazard attempting to get back up after a foul and being pushed back to the floor by Ivanovic to waste a few more seconds! I'm surprised he didn't set his dog 'Hazard' on them again. When Chelsea take the lead at Stamford Bridge, you've more chance of finding Richey Edwards than a Chelsea ball boy. Very revealing of the man's character that he often chooses to have a go at children that have no means to defend themselves when his team loses. Dont get me wrong,he's a great manager, but absolute a**ehole of a human being. Fits Chelsea like a glove. If I didn't know better, I would say you are butthurt. Are you an arsenal fan tho? I like mourinnho, he just knows how to win |
