red101: Earlier on in life, in my teenage years, I had dreams and hopes of what my life would look like by the time I turn 25. Well, man proposes, God disposes.. my life doesn't look at all like what I had dreamed. I am partially disappointed and feel a lot less idealistic as if I lost that sense of "yeah I can do whatever I set my mind to do." How many of you feel this way? Have you accomplished what you set out to accomplish, are you on the right path to your dreams or have your goals totally changed? How did you handle or deal with it? Please share your stories because they can be encouraging. What makes the situation worse is that now you have facebook, instagram etc and you can see how your friends seem to have perfect lives and the feeling of inadequacy begins to take hold because you start comparing yourself... Anybody in the same boat as me? Are you where you thought you would be? Do you still have future goals or you gave up on creating them and are now just going with the flow I saw this thread in earlier today and saved it to comment later. I totally relate to what you're saying. in many ways. altho, what I dreamt I'll be doing at this time is not even close to what am doing at all. I still try to find joy in it cos am relatively successful. that's after skipping some ropes. I think the key is deriving joy in whatever you do. |

zizman: is it compulsory? where did this tradition originate from? if the world is calling for gender equality why must this be so? doesn't this make a lady look like a "property" of her man? what are your thoughts ? na wa o. the type of things I see on this nairaland sef. if you don't like the change in surname, don't marry. Don't mistake gender equality in marriage with an open-minded marriage. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Faqs About Jehovah's Witnesses And Christmas by jasper7(m): 10:24am On Dec 25, 2014 |
dicefrost: Common misconceptions Myth : The reason why Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas is that they do not believe in Jesus.
Fact : We are Christians. We believe that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.—Acts 4:12.
Myth : You divide families by teaching members not to celebrate Christmas.
Fact : We care deeply about families, and we use the Bible to help build stronger families.
Myth : You miss out on the “Christmas spirit” of generosity, peace on earth, and goodwill toward men.
Fact : We strive to be generous and peaceable every day. (Proverbs 11:25; Romans 12:18) For example, the way we conduct our meetings and preach is in harmony with Jesus’ instruction: “You received free, give free.” (Matthew 10: In addition, we direct attention to God’s Kingdom as the true hope for peace on earth.—Matthew 10:7.
Why don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses celebrate Christmas?
1) Jesus commanded that we commemorate his death, not his birth.—Luke 22:19, 20. Jesus’ apostles and early disciples did not celebrate Christmas. The New Catholic Encyclopedia says that “the Nativity feast was instituted no earlier than 243 [C.E.],” more than a century after the last of the apostles died.
2)There is no proof that Jesus was born on December 25; his birth date is not recorded in the Bible.
3)We believe that Christmas is not approved by God because it is rooted in pagan customs and rites.—2 Corinthians 6:17.
Why make Christmas an issue?
Many still celebrate Christmas despite knowing about its pagan roots and lack of support from the Bible. Such persons could ask: Why should Christians take such an unpopular stance? Why make it an issue?
The Bible encourages us to think for ourselves, to use our “power of reason.” (Romans 12:1, 2) It teaches us to value the truth. (John 4:23, 24) So while we are interested in how others view us, we adhere to Bible principles even if it means that we become unpopular.
Although we choose not to celebrate Christmas ourselves, we respect each person’s right to decide for himself in this matter. We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others. still no substance in all you wrote here. why are you people like this? never giving facts. back up your principles with at least 3bible passages each please. |
Politics › Re: Ah! No sane person must vote this man by jasper7(m): 10:18am On Dec 25, 2014 |
Anybody who said Jonathan did not work is a hypocrite. a big one. Even as rugged as Obasanjo was, he could not contend with a small group of miscreants agitating in the south south, in form of MEND or naija delta militants as we knew them, these were just one out of over 20 prominent militia groups that were killing people around nigeria. Talkless of a group as big as boko haram. well funded, well trained and blood thirsty maniacs. The reason many will vote buhari in (including me) is because of fear and not because he's the messiah. so... we should stop coating our cowardice, calling it bravery. Shikena! |

Merry Christmas in advance to all my followers on this thread. Please do ensure you eat well this festve season. Unfortunately, I have gone through a terrible run of weeks (about a month). After the meeting with the farmers at ogbomosho I have been sick, really sick. Well, according to the doctors I suffered soft tissue infection. Which led to an operation. Am fine, thank you . This is the reason why the thread has been on slowmo for some weeks now. Well, there's no holiday for the farmers but the doc said I should take some time off from tedious work (a month or 2). So... I'll have all the time for you guys once am discharged fully from the hospital. Unfortunately I won't be joining much in the festive flexing due to restrictions on what and what I can eat and drink. Abeg make una kindly share my portion. . God Bless Y'all

jethro2: From the above quoted Continuity , quality, standard is the way forward. 1. Continuity requires having a network of farmers that are planting the same crops be it fruits, vegetable or grains. 2. Quality and standard means adhering and planting using the same good agricultural practice.
First step We need practical farmers. We have a lot of internet farmers and paper farmers. For this project to take off, we need real practical farmers that are willing to get their hands dirty. Imagining having 200 farmers that have an acre or 2 acre each of farmers planting the same crop and following the same methods and procedures. The products will be the same all through.
2nd step All participating farmers must adhere strictly to the group rules and regulations. We have a lot of greedy and selfish youth. Laying down the ground rules and strict compliance must be ensured
3rd Step Packaging and creating a niche will make the products readily accepted. We need to create a brand.
Its never going to be an easy step forward, but its a step some of us are willing to take and sacrifice for. Lets keep the suggestions rolling. Another good one. Let's get the ball rolling and get something tired. Branding won't be easy but we can do it. Sacrifices will need to be made for this to succeed |
