PoliticsTimi Frank Raises Fresh Alarm Over Alleged Plot To Abduct El-rufai From Court by Jatuski(op): 8:29am On May 18
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has alleged that there are plans by security operatives to take former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, into custody from the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.

Frank, in a statement in the early hours of Monday, claimed he received information from sources alleging that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) might attempt to arrest El-Rufai when he appears before Justice M.B. Idris of the Federal High Court.

He said: “Pursuant to what appears to be a grand plan by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to politically eliminate Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, I have been reliably informed that plans have allegedly been concluded by the DSS to forcefully take him into custody today (Monday) from the Federal High Court, Abuja, where he is meant to appear.”

According to him, such a move would allegedly contradict existing court orders directing that El-Rufai remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) pending the determination of matters before the court.

He further alleged that security operatives met the previous night to finalise arrangements for the alleged forceful abduction plot.

Frank said: “I reiterate that nothing must happen to El-Rufai. It is becoming increasingly obvious that he is being treated as a political target of the current administration.

“The President, the security agencies, and the Kaduna State Government must remember that power is transient and nothing lasts forever.”

The political activist also expressed fears that should any alleged attempt to permanently silence el-Rufai fail, the alternative plan may be to keep him in prolonged custody until after the 2027 elections.

He said: “It is unfortunate that Governor Uba Sani, once known as a civil rights activist who understood the importance of protecting citizens’ freedoms, now appears to be associated with actions many consider inconsistent with the rule of law, allegedly for political advantage.”

He urged authorities to respect the rule of law and avoid actions that could heighten political tension in the country.

The United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, further stated that any attempt to forcibly abduct El-Rufai from the court premises in defiance of subsisting court orders would amount to “an assault on the rule of law.”

He called on civil society organisations, northern leaders, religious groups, and the international community to closely monitor developments surrounding the case.

He said: This is the time for Nigerians, northern leaders, civil society groups, religious leaders, and all lovers of justice and democracy to rise in one voice against oppression and selective justice.”

While condemning what he described as selective justice, Frank maintained that anti-corruption efforts must be conducted within the bounds of fairness and due process.

“I support the fight against corruption, but such a fight must be fair, just, balanced, and devoid of political persecution,” he said.

Invoking the famous warning by German pastor, Martin Niemöller, Frank quoted:

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

Frank said the quote underscored the dangers of silence in the face of perceived injustice.

He also questioned whether El-Rufai was being singled out among former governors facing scrutiny in the country.

He said: “I reiterate that nothing must happen to el-Rufai. It is becoming increasingly obvious that he is being treated as a political target of the current administration. The President, the security agencies, and the Kaduna State Government must remember that power is transient and nothing lasts forever.

“If anything happens to el-Rufai, Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be held responsible,” he declared.

PoliticsFrank Alleges Plot To Eliminate El-rufai, Calls For Release Of Tunde Ayeni by Jatuski(op): 8:15am On May 17
*Seeks US Intervention

*Calls for international sanctions against officials found culpable in undermining democratic freedom

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has alleged that there are covert plans within sections of Nigeria’s security establishment to eliminate former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, while also calling for the immediate release of businessman, Tunde Ayeni.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Frank claimed he received information from what he described as a “reliable source within the security agencies” alleging that some officials within government circles were plotting against el-Rufai.

“I received a troubling call from a reliable source within the security agencies alleging that there are plots to eliminate Nasir el-Rufai — a strategic plan allegedly orchestrated by top appointees within the government and the presidency,” Frank stated.

“According to the information, he may be administered a harmful substance and thereafter released so that any eventual death would not occur in custody.”

Frank urged security agencies and relevant authorities to ensure the safety of the former governor, warning that any harm suffered by el-Rufai after release from detention would raise serious concerns.

“This alleged plan must be stopped immediately. I must clearly state that if anything happens to el-Rufai, even after his release from detention, the government, top appointees involved, and any judge who may have collaborated in the process should be held responsible,” he said.

The political activist also alleged that some judicial officers were participating in what he described as prolonged detention through restrictive bail conditions.

“There are also allegations that some judges have agreed to participate in the illegal detention of these individuals by ensuring they are either denied bail or subjected to excessively stringent bail conditions,” he added.

Frank argued that el-Rufai’s continued detention was politically motivated because of his influence and role during the 2023 presidential elections.

“They understand el-Rufai’s political relevance, influence, and what he knows, especially considering that he was part of the political structure that worked towards the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election,” he said.

While expressing support for anti-corruption efforts, Frank insisted that investigations and prosecutions must not be selective.

“I must state that I support the fight against corruption, but it must be fair, balanced, and free from political witch-hunts,” he stated.

“el-Rufai’s case is widely perceived as a witch-hunt, as he has remained incarcerated for over four months for allegations that are ordinarily bailable offences. Meanwhile, in other cases involving politically exposed persons, suspects reportedly walk in and out of the EFCC as a mere formality.”

Frank questioned why some former governors facing corruption allegations were allegedly treated differently.

“Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who was accused of massive financial misconduct allegedly running into trillions, is presently contesting elections freely for the position of Senator after aligning with the ruling party.

“Is el-Rufai the only former governor in Nigeria?

“What happened to the cases involving former governors such as Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Yahaya Bello, and Samuel Ortom, all of whom at different times faced allegations concerning public funds, yet continue to move freely, with some even receiving appointments?” he asked.

Frank further alleged that anti-corruption agencies were engaging in “selective prosecution and political intimidation” targeting both el-Rufai and Ayeni.

“For instance, Tunde Ayeni has been discharged by the courts in previous cases brought against him by the EFCC. There are concerns that he is being targeted because of perceived political affiliations and sympathy for the opposition,” he said.

“Tunde Ayeni is a businessman, not a politician. His experience appears to many as a witch-hunt designed to weaken him because of his perceived support for the opposition.

“Friends and business associates who have suddenly become close to government officials are behind his incarceration, which has now lasted for about 30 days.”

Frank urged the judiciary not to become an instrument for suppressing dissenting voices.

“Our judiciary must not allow itself to be used as an instrument of intimidation against those who hold differing political opinions,” he stated.

He warned that alleged abuse of state institutions could deepen public distrust in democratic governance and intensify concerns about political repression.

“If this pattern continues, it could further deepen public distrust, tension, and perceptions of dictatorship and illegality within the system. Our anti-graft agencies, such as the ICPC and EFCC, must avoid actions capable of setting the country on edge.”

Frank also expressed concerns over election integrity and the treatment of opposition figures ahead of future elections.

“There are also growing concerns among Nigerians regarding election integrity. Many citizens fear the possible misuse of state institutions, intimidation of opposition voices, suppression of dissent, politically motivated prosecutions, voter suppression tactics, and lack of transparency in the electoral process,” he said.

“Election credibility is essential not only for democracy but also for national stability and conflict prevention. When citizens lose faith in democratic processes, instability, extremism, and social unrest often increase.”

According to him, intimidation of opposition figures during elections had become common in several African countries.

“It has become a recurring pattern in parts of Africa that, during elections, opposition figures are harassed, intimidated, or unlawfully targeted. Many Nigerians now fear that similar strategies are being deployed against opposition voices in Nigeria.”

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, therefore called on the United States government, international observers, and global human rights groups to closely monitor developments in Nigeria.

“It is for this reason that I call on the United States government, the international community, and global human rights organizations to pay close attention and intervene where necessary to protect Nigerians from intimidation, harassment, and abuse of state power,” he said.

He also alleged that some government and security officials had participated in acts of intimidation against opposition figures and vowed to submit names to international authorities.

“Let me also put on record that I am aware that certain persons within government and security agencies have allegedly been involved in acts of harassment, intimidation, and suppression against opposition figures and ordinary Nigerians. Their names will be forwarded to relevant international authorities, including the United States government, as soon as practicable.”

Frank further called for international sanctions against any officials found culpable in undermining democratic freedoms.

“As part of the broader international response, I call for targeted sanctions against any officials found to be involved in abuses directed at opposition figures or the suppression of democratic freedoms. Such measures may include visa restrictions, asset freezes, and financial sanctions,” he added.

Politics‎adamawa APC Reps Primaries; The Beginning Of A Foreboding Catastrophe? by Jatuski(op): 7:43am On May 17

‎By; Dr. MAHMUD YAMAGI

‎What transpired during yesterday's (Saturday) All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries in Adamawa State has left many party faithful deeply wounded, disillusioned, and angry.

‎Across the eight federal constituencies, the exercise has been widely condemned by aspirants, stakeholders, and observers as nothing short of a charade, a carefully orchestrated travesty against democracy, and a betrayal of the principles upon which the APC claims to stand.

‎The bitterness trailing the exercise is not a creation of the opposition. It is coming directly from within the APC itself. Several aspirants openly raised alarm before the primaries, warning against alleged plots to impose candidates and manipulate the process. Yet, despite those warnings, the party leadership allegedly proceeded with a process many members now describe as predetermined and fraudulent.

‎One of the gravest dangers of this development is the growing perception that the entire process enjoyed the backing of two of the most dominant political figures in Adamawa APC; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. Whether true or false, this perception alone is politically toxic and potentially catastrophic for the future of the APC in Adamawa State.

‎Only weeks ago, Governor Fintiri publicly declared that there would be “no room for imposition” in the APC and promised internal democracy. Today, many aggrieved aspirants and party members believe the exact opposite happened. Such contradictions erode trust and destroy confidence in leadership.

‎Before the primaries, several aspirants reportedly rejected what they described as an “alleged presidential list” containing preferred candidates for the House of Representatives seats. They warned that forcing candidates on the party would lead to “grave consequences” and possible disaster for the APC in future elections. Sadly, the party leadership appears not to have listened.

‎The APC must understand that democracy cannot survive where the votes, voices, and aspirations of party members are casually discarded in favour of elite arrangements. Political parties grow stronger through fairness, inclusion, and transparent competition, not through intimidation, manipulation, or backroom deals.

‎The implication of this crisis for Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is particularly troubling. Ribadu has spent decades building a national reputation as a disciplined public servant, anti-corruption crusader, and statesman. Many Nigerians still associate him with integrity and courage. However, the growing allegations linking his name to an allegedly manipulated primary process threaten to damage that hard-earned credibility.

‎In politics, perception is archetypal to reality. Once party members begin to see a leader as complicit in injustice, rebuilding confidence becomes extremely difficult.

‎Already, there were earlier warnings from political actors cautioning against dragging Ribadu into partisan manipulation in Adamawa politics. Unfortunately, recent developments may reinforce precisely those fears.

‎For Governor Fintiri, the situation is equally dangerous. Since his controversial defection to the APC earlier this year, the governor has been trying to position himself as a unifying force capable of stabilising the party and delivering electoral victories. However, if the APC primaries are now seen as an avenue for political conquest and domination rather than democratic participation, his standing among legacy APC members may deteriorate rapidly. The truth is simple: no political party survives for long when genuine members feel cheated.

‎History already offers painful lessons. In 2015, 2019, 2023 and even during earlier political realignments, internal divisions, imposition of candidates, and unresolved grievances repeatedly weakened political parties in Adamawa State.

‎Aggrieved stakeholders either worked against their own party or quietly sabotaged its electoral chances from within. The APC itself suffered from internal contradictions and factional battles that cost it dearly in previous election cycles. Today, the signs are appearing once again.

‎There is already widespread murmuring about possible anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 elections. Loyal party members who invested resources, time, and political capital into the APC now feel abandoned and humiliated. Many believe that the primaries were merely ceremonial exercises designed to legitimise predetermined outcomes.

‎If this anger festers unchecked, the APC may face a rebellion from within far more dangerous than opposition attacks. Political parties are rarely destroyed by outsiders; they are usually consumed by internal injustice and arrogance.

‎Many citizens believe political parties have become platforms controlled by powerful individuals rather than institutions driven by ideology and fairness. This perception is dangerous not only for the APC but for Nigeria’s democratic future as a whole.

‎The APC leadership in Adamawa must therefore urgently retrace its steps. The party cannot afford to dismiss the anger of aspirants and grassroots supporters as mere noise. Silence, arrogance, or attempts to suppress dissent will only deepen the wounds.

‎The leadership must immediately open channels of reconciliation, investigate complaints arising from the primaries, and reassure members that justice and fairness still matter within the party. Anything short of that may push many loyal members into open rebellion, passive resistance, or outright defection.

‎The greatest tragedy would be for the APC to repeat the same mistakes that previously led to avoidable defeats and political humiliation. A political party that refuses to learn from history is ultimately preparing for its own downfall.

‎And unless urgent steps are taken, the APC in Adamawa may once again discover too late that manipulated victories in primaries often become devastating defeats during general elections.

‎Yamagi writes from Abuja.

PoliticsSouth East LP Chairmen Back Agada For Presidency by Jatuski(op): 3:06pm On May 15
Chairmen of the Labour Party (LP) across the South East have endorsed former National Chairman of the party, Arc. Dr. Peter Agada, as their preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

The endorsement was announced during a high-level consultative meeting held in Umuahia, Abia State, on Wednesday night, as political alignments and consultations intensify ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The development is expected to strengthen Agada’s growing presidential movement within reform-oriented and technocratic political circles, where he has continued to project himself as a candidate focused on infrastructure-driven governance and institutional reforms.

Five-State Consultation, Stakeholders’ Conference Launched

As part of efforts to consolidate support for his presidential ambition, the South East party leaders also flagged off a five-state consultative forum and stakeholders’ conference aimed at mobilising grassroots engagement across the region.

The initiative is expected to drive political consultations, stakeholder engagement, and mobilisation of party supporters at ward, local government, and state levels across the South East.

Party leaders at the meeting described the move as part of broader efforts to reposition the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 elections while building support around candidates perceived to possess governance competence and reform credentials.

Party Leaders Attend Meeting

Among those present at the meeting were the Labour Party Chairman in Anambra State, Peter Okoye, and the Enugu State Chairman, Ugwu Kingsley.

Representatives from Imo State also attended the gathering, while Ebonyi State was represented by the State Secretary, Igiri Innocent, and Pastor Benjamin Ugwu.

The South East Coordinator of the party, Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu, was equally in attendance.

Agada Meets Abia Deputy Governor

In continuation of his consultations, Dr. Agada also held a separate meeting with the Deputy Governor of Abia State on the same day.

The discussions reportedly focused on his presidential ambition, strategic partnerships, and the need for wider political collaboration ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

The consultations form part of ongoing engagements by the former LP national chairman as he seeks to expand his political reach beyond movement-based and policy advocacy networks into broader grassroots structures.

Campaign Built Around Infrastructure Reform

Agada’s presidential aspiration has increasingly been shaped around what he describes as the need for technically driven leadership capable of addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure and governance challenges.

His campaign messaging centres on integrated national planning, infrastructure efficiency, project accountability, and economic restructuring.

The presidential hopeful argues that Nigeria’s governance crisis is largely a failure of coordination, execution discipline, and long-term development planning rather than the absence of policy ideas.

Technocratic Background Shapes Presidential Message

With nearly three decades of professional experience in architecture, infrastructure strategy, and acoustic engineering, Agada has continued to present his technical background as a major strength of his candidacy.

He is the Principal of Cyrus Acoustics Sound C4i & Co. Limited, with professional engagements spanning infrastructure systems, highways, logistics hubs, agro-industrial development, energy systems, and security-related projects.

His supporters believe that his experience in infrastructure planning and systems coordination positions him as part of a new generation of presidential aspirants advocating practical governance reforms rooted in technical expertise.

Focus on Economic Production, Project Completion

Central to Agada’s policy proposals is what he describes as a “finish-first” infrastructure policy aimed at prioritising the completion of abandoned projects before initiating new ones.

He has also advocated stronger project auditing mechanisms, transparent cost verification systems, and tighter accountability measures in public infrastructure delivery.

Another major aspect of his economic vision is the Agro-Industrial Cluster model, designed to establish production hubs across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones in order to stimulate manufacturing, agriculture, logistics integration, and job creation.

Political Structure Still Developing

Although Agada’s ideas have continued to gain attention within reform-oriented and professional circles, his national political structure is still regarded as developing compared to more established political actors.

His emergence in the presidential race reflects a broader attempt to reposition Nigeria’s political conversation around systems thinking, institutional coordination, and infrastructure-led development.

Political observers believe one of the major tests of his candidacy will be his ability to translate technocratic credibility into widespread grassroots acceptance and electoral competitiveness ahead of the 2027 elections.

PoliticsTimi Frank Warns African Leaders Against ‘devilish’ Deals With France by Jatuski(op): 11:21am On May 15
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has warned African leaders against entering into what he described as “devilish” and “anti-people” agreements with France, urging African youths to resist any renewed French influence on the continent.

Frank, in a strongly worded reaction to recent diplomatic engagements between France and some African leaders where a plethora of ridiculous agreements have been signed at the “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth Summit” attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and several African leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Nairobi-Kenya, alleged that Paris was attempting to regain influence in Africa after facing rejection in several Francophone countries.

He described the reported agreements as a “Greek gift,” claiming they would neither benefit African citizens nor promote genuine development across the continent.

According to him, African leaders must place the interests of their citizens above personal ambitions and corruption-driven alliances.

“Any agreement signed with France will only benefit the leaders themselves and not the people. Africans must reject such deals because they are like death warrants for the continent,” he said.

Frank particularly referenced the stance taken by countries such as Burkina Faso and Mali, which have openly resisted French influence in recent years.

He argued that if smaller African nations could distance themselves from France, larger countries should also resist what he termed “a fresh attempt at recolonisation.”

He further accused France of historically exploiting African nations through economic arrangements that allegedly kept former colonies dependent on Paris.

“All these years France controlled the resources and financial systems of many African countries. They kept African money and still loaned the same money back to them. That system only promoted poverty and dependency,” he alleged.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, also accused France of backing African leaders who alter constitutions to remain in office, alleging that Paris had historically supported corrupt regimes across the continent.

He therefore called on Africans to vote out leaders who enter into agreements that compromise the interests and sovereignty of their countries.

“Africans should reject leaders who mortgage the future of their countries for selfish gains. The continent deserves partnerships that promote development, security and prosperity for the people,” he said.

The political activist also called on African youths to stage peaceful protests against any agreement perceived to undermine the continent’s sovereignty.

“The youth must wake up and reject this new takeover agenda. The era where France dictates the future of Africa is gone,” he stated.

Frank urged African leaders to instead strengthen partnerships with the United States and Israel, which he said had shown greater commitment to trade, technology, agriculture and security cooperation beneficial to African nations.

He praised Donald Trump and the United States for what he described as opposition to unconstitutional tenure elongation and support for democratic governance in Africa.

According to him, America and Israel have demonstrated “shared developmental values far more inspiring and people-oriented than France.”

Politics‎survey Favours Abbati Ahead Of APC Adamawa Central Senatorial Primaries by Jatuski(op): 9:50am On May 15

‎A recent public opinion survey conducted by Greenfield Analytics Consortium has identified Aliyu Abdulhameed Abbati as the most preferred aspirant among contenders seeking the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Adamawa Central Senatorial District ahead of the party primaries.

‎According to a report by the consortium which followed an eight-week field assessment across the senatorial zone, Abbati emerged with the highest favorability and acceptability ratings among party stakeholders and respondents sampled during the exercise.

‎The survey, coordinated by data analyst Dr. Suleiman Bashir, adopted a sample size of 6,500 respondents drawn from the seven local government areas of Adamawa Central Senatorial District.

‎Accordingly, the study utilized a combination of stratified sampling, cluster sampling, and simple random sampling techniques to ensure broad representation and minimize statistical bias.

‎To achieve demographic balance and political spread, respondents were selected across Hong, Gombi, Song, Yola South, Yola North, Fufore, and Girei local government areas. The sampling structure also reflected variations in age, gender, educational background, occupation, religious affiliation, and urban-rural distribution.

‎The questionnaire design focused on measurable political and leadership indicators considered critical in determining electoral viability within the APC.

‎Respondents were asked to evaluate aspirants based on legislative competence, grassroots connection, public trust, accessibility, party loyalty, leadership experience, empowerment capacity, and overall electability in the forthcoming general election.

‎To further validate the findings, the research team reportedly applied inferential statistical models, including Chi-square (χ²) testing with a 5 percent margin of error, to determine the significance and consistency of voter preferences across demographic categories.

‎Researchers involved in the study stated that the observed variations in candidate support were statistically significant and reflected clear patterns within the APC support base.

‎At the end of the survey and diligent assessment, Aliyu Abdulhameed Abbati emerged as the leading aspirant with 34 percent of the total weighted responses. He was followed by Amb. Hapsat Ibrahim Modibbo, who secured 20 percent, while Engr. Dr. Aishatu Aliyu Umar recorded 15 percent.

‎Umar B. Bindir polled 12 percent, Saidu Hayatu Galadima received 10 percent, while Sen. Abdulaziz Murtala Nyako recorded 9 percent of the total responses.

‎According to the analysis, Abbati’s lead was driven largely by his perceived accessibility, growing grassroots network, and strong acceptability among younger respondents and party mobilizers across the zone.

‎The report further observed that while other aspirants demonstrated strengths in specific local government areas or among particular demographic blocs, Abbati maintained relatively consistent performance across all sampled LGAs, indicating what researchers described as “broad-based political acceptability.”

‎Cross-tabulation of responses also suggested that respondents who prioritized grassroots engagement, party unity, and constituency outreach were more inclined toward Abbati’s candidacy. In contrast, some of the other contenders performed better among respondents who emphasized technocratic experience or political legacy.

‎Observers who reviewed the findings noted that the Adamawa Central APC contest remains highly competitive, with multiple influential figures still commanding significant support bases within the party structure.

‎They however maintained that Abbati’s numerical advantage in the survey reflects a growing momentum capable of shaping the dynamics of the party primaries if sustained ahead of the primaries.

‎Speaking on the methodology adopted in the exercise, research consultant Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf described the study as “a technically structured survey rooted in standard opinion polling frameworks.”

‎He stated that the deployment of layered sampling techniques, demographic balancing, and statistical validation tools enhanced the credibility and analytical depth of the outcome.

‎He added that as the 2027 electoral cycle approaches, data-driven assessments and opinion trend analyses would continue to influence campaign strategies, stakeholder alignments, and internal party calculations across Adamawa State.

BusinessApapa Customs Boss Charges Officers On Discipline, Revenue, Trade Facilitation by Jatuski(op): 7:42pm On May 13
*Oshoba calls for professionalism, improved stakeholder relations

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, has charged officers and men of the Command to intensify revenue generation, strengthen anti-smuggling operations and uphold professionalism and discipline in the discharge of their duties.

A statement signed by the Chief Superintendent of Customs
Public Relations Officer
Apapa Area Command, Isah Sulaiman, made available on Wednesday, said that Comptroller Oshoba gave the charge during the Command’s monthly parade held on Tuesday May 12, 2026, at the Command headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.

The Area Controller emphasized the need for greater operational interventions across terminals to block revenue leakages while ensuring seamless trade facilitation and timely cargo clearance.

“Officers must protect the reputation of the Service. That is why any delay by any officer concerning any consignment will not be tolerated. Even at the gates. If a consignment is duly exited, there should be no delay at the gates,” he stated.

He also urged officers to remain accessible and professional in their dealings with stakeholders.

“You must make yourself accessible to our stakeholders and we must avoid actions capable of tarnishing the good image of the Service and the good work being done by the CGC and members of his management. We should not be seen as slugs in the wheels of progress,” Oshoba added.

The CAC further called for heightened vigilance against smuggling activities, especially illicit drugs and prohibited items, while warning officers against misconduct and improper dressing.

Highpoint of the parade was the recognition of outstanding officers and units for exemplary service. Assistant Comptroller of Customs Ismail Mohammed emerged as the Most Outstanding Officer of the Month, while CSC Augustine Ondoma, ASCI Bukola Olaleye and IC Olalekan Salawu were recognized for professionalism, innovation and punctuality respectively.

Foreign AffairsReject France, Deepen Strategic Alliance With US, Timi Frank To African Leaders by Jatuski(op): 9:27am On May 12
Political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Tuesday, urged African leaders to strengthen strategic partnerships with the United States instead of entering into fresh agreements with France, accusing the European nation of exploiting Africa for decades without meaningful development.

Frank in a statement in reaction to the ongoing, “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth Summit” being attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and several African leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Nairobi-Kenya, said African countries, particularly in West Africa, had little to show for years of French influence despite their abundant natural resources.

He argued that recent political developments in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger had exposed what he described as France’s exploitative relationship with African nations.

“France has nothing more to offer Africa. African leaders must not fall into any new arrangement that will drag the continent back into economic and political bondage,” he said.

According to him, the military takeovers in some Francophone African countries had opened the eyes of many Africans to what he termed “decades of exploitation.”

“Since the military takeover in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, Africans have seen clearly that France was only using the people and their resources without giving anything meaningful in return,” he stated.

He maintained that African leaders should instead pursue stronger bilateral relations with the United States, especially in the areas of insecurity, election integrity, trade and investment.

“We believe Africa will get a better deal with the United States than with France. The areas we should focus on are insecurity, election integrity and stronger bilateral economic ties,” he said.

The international affairs advisor also called for increased cooperation with the US in tackling terrorism and strengthening democratic institutions across the continent.

According to the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, African leaders should renegotiate terms of engagement with the United States in ways that would directly benefit African citizens.

“Wherever we feel the United States has not done well in the past, it is our responsibility to identify those areas and renegotiate better terms that will benefit Africa,” he added.

He described France’s long-standing influence in parts of Africa as “modern slavery,” alleging that Paris had historically supported leaders who protected French interests regardless of the wishes of their citizens.

“As long as African leaders are doing France’s bidding, France will protect them even when their people no longer want them in office,” he claimed.

He cited Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin Republic and Cameroon as examples of countries where, according to him, are still under the stranglehold of France’s continuous rape of their once thriving economies.

He further argued that countries distancing themselves from French control were beginning to witness improvements.

“Since they broke away from France, countries like Burkina Faso have shown signs of doing better. That proves Africa does not need France to survive,” he said.

The political activist also endorsed the idea of an Africa-US summit, describing it as more productive than renewed France-Africa engagements.

“Africa-US summit will benefit Africa more than any France-Africa arrangement. African leaders should focus on building stronger ties with the United States,” he said.

He further expressed optimism that the administration of President Donald Trump would offer Africa a more beneficial partnership based on mutual interests and democratic values.

PoliticsAgada: Behold The Man For Nigeria's Top Job by Jatuski(op): 6:38am On May 12
By; EMMANUEL AGBO

Arc. Dr. Peter Agada has emerged as a presidential aspirant in Nigeria’s unfolding 2027 electoral cycle, positioning his bid around a central argument that the country’s leadership challenge requires a president with strong technical competence in infrastructure, systems planning, and execution management.

His presidential pursuit is anchored on the belief that Nigeria’s governance crisis is fundamentally a failure of design, coordination, and delivery, rather than a lack of policy ideas.

Eye On Reforms

At the centre of his presidential ambition under the Labour Party, (LP) is a reform-driven agenda that seeks to reposition governance around infrastructure efficiency, integrated development planning, and accountability in project execution.

Agada presents himself as part of a new category of presidential contenders who argue that national leadership must be rooted in practical development expertise, particularly in infrastructure systems that directly affect economic productivity and public welfare.

Rich, Successful Career Path

Supporting this presidential bid is a long-standing professional career spanning over 29 years in architecture, infrastructure strategy, and acoustic engineering. He is the Principal of Cyrus Acoustics Sound C4i & Co. Limited, where his work extends beyond conventional architecture into specialised infrastructure design and systems planning. His professional portfolio is associated with conceptual development of highways, energy systems, oil and gas facilities, logistics hubs, agro-industrial clusters, urban infrastructure, and security-related built environments. Within his political messaging, this technical background is presented as evidence of his capacity to understand how large-scale national projects are designed, costed, and implemented.

Agada’s presidential narrative is also reinforced by his leadership of the Congress of Professionals, a platform established in 2006 that brings together experts across disciplines to design governance and development frameworks.

Advocacy Through LabourDirect.com

Through this platform, he has been involved in long-term policy advocacy focused on infrastructure modernization, economic restructuring, and sectoral integration. His supporters argue that this structure reflects sustained engagement with governance thinking long before his formal presidential ambition became public.

A further dimension of his presidential campaign is his association with LabourDirect.com, a proposed digital governance and policy coordination platform designed to integrate national planning across infrastructure, agriculture, housing, energy, security, and economic development. The platform is presented as a unified system intended to address fragmentation in government planning by linking policy design, budgeting, and execution into a single coordinated framework. In his political communication, it is framed as part of a governance model that could improve efficiency and reduce duplication in national development efforts.

His entry into presidential politics has also been shaped by experience within reform and movement-based political structures. He reportedly served as the immediate past Director of Finance of the Obedient Movement during the 2023 political cycle, where he was involved in financial coordination and administrative management within a major civic political mobilisation. He is also associated with the Big Tent Shadow Government, where he serves as Shadow Minister of Infrastructure, contributing to policy formulation across energy, works, housing, and urban development sectors. These roles reflect his transition from technical professional to active participant in structured political and policy advocacy spaces.

Focused Agenda, Exploits

Central to Agada’s presidential message is the argument that Nigeria’s infrastructure crisis is driven primarily by inefficiency, abandoned projects, weak coordination, and lack of execution discipline. His governance approach emphasises what he describes as a “finish-first” policy, which prioritises completion of existing projects before the initiation of new ones. He also advocates stronger use of Bill of Quantities analysis, project auditing systems, and transparent cost verification mechanisms as tools for reducing waste, improving accountability, and strengthening public trust in infrastructure delivery.

Another key component of his presidential vision is the Agro-Industrial Cluster model, which proposes the development of production hubs across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. The objective of this framework is to transition the country from a consumption-based economy to a production-driven system anchored on regional industrial specialization. These clusters are intended to integrate agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and energy infrastructure into coordinated economic zones capable of generating employment, boosting exports, and enhancing value addition.

Agada’s broader presidential philosophy also promotes integrated national planning, where infrastructure, housing, energy, agriculture, and security systems are treated as interconnected sectors rather than isolated policy silos. He argues that Nigeria’s development inefficiency stems from fragmented institutional design and weak inter-ministerial coordination, which his proposed frameworks seek to address through unified planning structures.

Despite the growing visibility of his ideas within professional and reform-oriented circles, Agada’s national political presence remains in a developing phase compared to more established political actors. His presidential ambition is still primarily anchored in technocratic, policy advocacy, and movement-based networks rather than deep-rooted electoral structures with widespread grassroots penetration. This reflects one of the central challenges of his candidacy: translating technical credibility into broad political reach and mass electoral support.

Public perception surrounding the aspirant also highlight his personal and social orientation. He is described as a family-focused individual and philanthropically inclined leader with charitable engagements across various parts of Nigeria, particularly in Benue State. However, like many emerging political figures, his philanthropic footprint is more prominently reflected in narrative accounts than in widely documented national-scale institutional programmes.

Ultimately, Arc. Dr. Peter Agada’s presidential aspiration represents an attempt to reposition Nigeria’s leadership discourse around infrastructure intelligence, systems thinking, and execution discipline. His candidacy is built on the argument that the country’s governance challenges require not only political leadership but also technical competence capable of delivering structured, measurable development outcomes.

The success of his presidential pursuit will depend on how effectively he converts this technocratic identity into broad-based political trust, national visibility, and electoral competitiveness in the 2027 general elections.

Politics2027: Ikonne Picks APC Nomination Forms For Abia South, Vows To Sack Abaribe by Jatuski(op): 4:54pm On Apr 29
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State and Senatorial aspirant for Abia South, Prince Paul Ikonne, has asked the Senator representing the district,
Enyinnaya Abaribe, to prepare to leave the red chamber.

Abaribe has spent nearly two decades in the Senate representing Abia South, a development Prince Ikonne said has yielded no meaningful development for the district.

Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday morning after picking his nomination and expression of interest forms, Ikonne vowed to give effective representation for Abia South beginning from 2027 if given opportunity, urging Senator Abaribe to prepare to vacate the seat.

Ikonne, who is the immediate-past Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) under former President Muhammadu Buhari, said his decision to join the race was borne out of the urgent need to provide effective and quality representation for Abia South, which he noted has suffered years of under-performance at the National Assembly.

Prince Ikonne reaffirmed that his senatorial ambition is driven by service, development and a determination to restore purposeful representation to the people of Abia South.
.
When asked about his chances of winning the election, Ikonne, in a direct political challenge to the incumbent Senator Abaribe, declared that after nearly two decades in the Senate, it was time for Abaribe to return to Ohuru village and join his kinsmen in settling village land disputes, arguing that his long stay in the Red Chambers has yielded no meaningful development for the district.

He said: “If you are familiar with Senator Abaribe very well, you will realize that he is an attention seeker and a media creation. He has long lost touch with the grassroots and our people are saying enough of his noise-making, it is time for him to return to village.

“Currently, Abia South does not look like a district with his representation in the Senate. That is why I have stepped forward, to offer real representation, align our people with the federal government, and attract the federal presence and development our district deserves,” Ikonne stated.

He said his aspiration is focused on moving representation beyond rhetoric to results through infrastructure, empowerment, strategic interventions and stronger national relevance for Abia South.

Prince Ikonne further expressed confidence in the role of the 11th Senate as a consolidating Senate that will leverage on the reforms and political gains of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to move Nigeria in a positive direction.

He called on Nigerians, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious differences, to support President Tinubu’s reform agenda, describing the President as committed to laying the foundation for long-term national transformation and prosperity.

With the purchase of his nomination forms, the contest for Abia South Senate has clearly entered a defining phase.

PoliticsKaduna 2027: Shettima Picks APC Nomination Forms For Senate Bid by Jatuski(op): 2:46pm On Apr 29
A frontline aspirant for Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, has obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The forms were collected on his behalf by his associates, Hon. Danjuma Paul and Barrister Onus Eugene.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Shettima said his decision to pick the forms was aimed at dispelling doubts about his seriousness to contest the seat.

He recalled that he recently led a large crowd of supporters on a declaration visit to the party leadership in Kaduna State, where he formally signalled his intention to join the race.

The aspirant reaffirmed his readiness to participate in the party primaries and dismissed speculations about the emergence of a consensus candidate.

According to him, Kaduna Central requires quality representation in the Senate, stressing that he possesses the integrity, capacity and acceptance needed to serve the people effectively.

Shettima, a former President-General of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and convener of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative(NSCI), said his background in youth advocacy has strengthened his connection with the electorate.

Political observers believe his previous leadership roles have boosted his popularity, particularly among young people in the district.

Also speaking, President of the Capacity Movement, Shehu Sani Sado, described Shettima as a strong contender in the race, noting that current political dynamics favour his emergence.

He added that the aspirant remains one of the leading figures to watch in the Kaduna Central senatorial contest.

PoliticsSoludo’s Road Revolution Opens Up Orumba Communities, Cuts Travel Time by Jatuski(op):
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has been commended for completing the 16.4-kilometre Nawfija–Ajali–Ufuma–Ogbunka Road in Orumba South Local Government Area, a project residents say has transformed transportation, agriculture and economic activities across the axis.

Vice President of Boardwalk Group and Abuja-based real estate developer and philanthropist, Chief Mrs. Obiageli Okwubanego, gave the commendation while speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Maitama, Abuja.

Okwubanego described the road project as a major infrastructure breakthrough that has drastically reduced travel time and eased movement for motorists and residents within the affected communities.

She recalled that the appeal for the road was first made in 2019 when Soludo attended the funeral mass of her mother, Chief Mrs. Agnes Igwenagu Okeke.

According to her, the deplorable state of the road at the time made movement extremely difficult for mourners and guests attending the burial ceremony.

“When Professor Soludo later declared interest in contesting for governor, I went back to my people and urged them to support him with the assurance that the road would be done. I also appealed to him to extend the road project to Ogbunka, my mother’s hometown,” she said.

She noted that the newly completed road has reduced travel time by about two hours and now serves as an alternative route to the traffic-prone Umunze Roundabout.
Travellers heading towards Umuaku in Abia State, as well as Okigwe and Ndi-Iziogu areas of Imo State, now use the route to avoid traffic congestion.

“For Christmas, Easter, August meetings, marriages and other celebrations, people can now travel home with ease and in large numbers,” she stated.

Okwubanego described the project as part of Soludo’s broader infrastructure and economic transformation agenda across Anambra State.

According to her, the road has enhanced the movement of goods and services within the communities and improved economic activities in the area.
“Governor Soludo’s solution agenda has positively impacted our communities and brought remarkable transformation to the entire Orumba South Local Government Area,” she said.

She further noted that residents of Nawfija community had never experienced a tarred road before the intervention of the Soludo administration.

“Since I started visiting Nawfija community years ago, the residents had never enjoyed a tarred road. Soludo, through compassionate and selfless leadership, has now provided the people with their first properly constructed road,” she added.

Highlighting the economic importance of the project, Okwubanego said the road has significantly boosted agricultural activities in the area, especially palm oil production.

She explained that the adjoining communities are predominantly farming settlements responsible for a substantial share of palm oil production in Orumba South Local Government Area.

“The famous Onuoigbo palm plantation, which spans over 20 hectares, is located along this road corridor in Nawfija, and the improved road network will greatly support the movement of farm produce,” she explained.

On tourism potential, she said the road would also increase access to the popular Ozi Stream, known for fishing and irrigation activities, thereby attracting more visitors and commercial activities.

“With easier access to the famous Ozi Stream, human and business activities in the area will rise significantly,” she noted.

Okwubanego also reaffirmed her emotional attachment to Nawfija community, saying her passion for the people inspired her continuous commitment to their welfare and development.

“My dear Nawfija community means so much to me, which is why I personally pleaded with His Excellency to give us this road. My passion for the community will always push me to look out for their welfare,” she said.

PoliticsAYAGL Hails Kyari's Reforms At NNPCL by Jatuski(op): 3:19pm On Apr 24
The Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL) has praised the former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, (NNPCL) Mele Kolo Kyari, describing his tenure as a defining period marked by reforms, transparency and humanitarian impact.

In a statement issued and signed by its President, Ambassador Abdul Danbature, the group said Kyari’s leadership from 2019 to 2025 repositioned the national oil company and restored public confidence in the petroleum sector.

AYAGL noted that Kyari introduced the Transparency, Accountability and Performance (TAPE) agenda, which it said transformed operational standards within NNPCL. It highlighted the consistent publication of audited financial statements as a major shift from decades of opacity in the sector.

The group also credited him with driving the commercialization of NNPCL in line with the Petroleum Industry Act, alongside improvements in operational efficiency through digitisation and stronger governance structures.

On fuel pricing, AYAGL said Kyari demonstrated strategic leadership during Nigeria’s transition to deregulation. It noted that his approach helped maintain relative stability in fuel supply and pricing despite global market volatility, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement further acknowledged investments in critical infrastructure under his leadership, including the rehabilitation of refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna, as well as progress on the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Gas Pipeline Project. It added that enhanced pipeline surveillance contributed to efforts to curb crude oil theft.

AYAGL said Kyari’s “Decade of Gas” initiative laid a foundation for cleaner energy development and industrial growth, while also strengthening Nigeria’s position in global energy diplomacy.

Beyond policy and infrastructure, the group emphasised Kyari’s humanitarian contributions. It cited NNPCL’s expanded healthcare interventions, educational support programmes, and community development projects, including water supply, school rehabilitation and rural electrification.

It also noted his support for internally displaced persons in the North-East and his commitment to youth empowerment and mentorship within the oil and gas industry.

“Many of his personal philanthropic efforts were carried out quietly, reflecting humility and a genuine desire to impact lives,” the statement said.
AYAGL further commended Kyari for ensuring energy supply stability during election periods and maintaining institutional neutrality, which it said contributed to national stability and democratic continuity.

The group concluded that Kyari’s tenure represents “a legacy of reform, resilience and compassion,” urging future leaders to emulate his commitment to integrity, service and inclusive development.

Politics2027: Atiku Demands Urgent Amendment Of Electoral Act by Jatuski(op): 7:12pm On Apr 22
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has issued a stern warning over what he described as a grave and dangerous ambiguity in Nigeria’s Electoral Act, calling on the National Assembly to act immediately safeguard the sanctity of the ballot.

In a statement signed Wednesday in Abuja, by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the Waziri Adamawa raised alarm over Section 63 of the Act, particularly the provision that allows a ballot paper without an official mark to be counted at the discretion of a returning officer.

“This is not a minor technical issue—it is a direct threat to electoral integrity,” Atiku declared.

He warned that any legal provision that permits discretion in determining the validity of ballot papers creates a loophole that could be exploited to compromise the will of the people.

“A democracy cannot survive on ambiguity. A ballot must either meet the standard or it does not. The moment you leave such a critical decision to subjective judgment, you invite manipulation, dispute, and ultimately, chaos,” he said.

Atiku stressed that while the provision may have been conceived to prevent voter disenfranchisement, its current framing is dangerously open-ended and capable of undermining public trust in the electoral system.

“At a time when Nigerians are demanding transparency and credibility, it is reckless to retain a clause that weakens confidence in the very foundation of democracy—the vote,” he added.

He noted with concern that this provision is not new, but a legacy loophole carried over from previous electoral laws into the current Act without sufficient safeguards.

“Rather than close known gaps in our electoral framework, the amendment regrettably preserved a provision that still leaves room for subjective interpretation at a critical stage of the process,” Atiku said.

The former Vice President therefore called on the National Assembly to urgently amend the Electoral Act to eliminate any room for discretion in ballot validation and to establish clear, non-negotiable standards that protect the integrity of every vote.

He also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to move swiftly to tighten its operational guidelines and ensure that electoral officers are not placed in positions where personal judgment could override verifiable standards.

Furthermore, Atiku called on the international community, election observers, and democratic partners to pay close attention to Nigeria’s electoral legal framework, noting that the credibility of future elections depends as much on the law as on the process.

“The world is watching. Nigeria must not send a signal that its electoral system can be bent by interpretation,” he cautioned.

The former Vice President noted that it was deeply disappointing that such a controversial provision has continued to survive multiple legislative revisions, stressing that lawmakers ought to have exercised greater diligence in safeguarding the sanctity of the ballot.

“The leadership of the National Assembly should have been more cautionary than casual in handling provisions that touch the very heart of our democracy. A ballot paper is not an ordinary piece of paper—it is a legal instrument whose authenticity is central to the credibility of the entire electoral process,” he said.

Atiku further held that the responsibility does not end with the legislature, pointing to the role of the executive in ensuring that laws passed meet the highest standards of integrity.

“The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also bears a duty to subject every critical legislation to rigorous scrutiny before appending his signature. Leadership demands vigilance. The document he assented to ought to have passed the most stringent integrity test,” Atiku added.

He stressed that where gaps are identified in laws governing elections, they must be corrected decisively and without delay.

“This is not about blame—it is about responsibility. And this provision must be corrected to restore public confidence and protect the sanctity of the vote,” he said.

Atiku concluded with a firm warning: “This loophole must be corrected. Democracy thrives on certainty, not discretion—and Nigeria cannot afford anything less.”

PoliticsUS Lawmaker Accuses Matawalle Of Bribe Attempt To Silence Reports For His Sack by Jatuski(op): 4:47pm On Apr 21
Kimberly Daniels, a United States Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives for District 14, has alleged that Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle, attempted to bribe a US official to deflect the narrative of the United World Congress of Diplomats, UN-WCD, report.

The lawmaker made the claim in a viral video released on her official Facebook account on Monday.

She said Matawalle’s alleged move was to cover up the UN-WCD report on Christian genocide in Nigeria, which indicted him.

Daniels insisted that no amount of pressure can silence her stand against the killings of Christians in Nigeria.

“A US elected official was offered money by Nigeria’s minister of state defense, Bello Matawalle, to change the narrative of the UN-WCD Christian genocide in Nigeria report,” she said in the viral video.

Recall that Daniels, who doubled as the chairperson of UN-WCD, had called for President Bola Tinubu to remove Matawalle over alleged complicity in the killings in Plateau, Benue, Kaduna, and other parts of Nigeria.

Matawalle is yet to officially reply the US lawmaker.

Daniels alleged that following her recent press statement on what she described as targeted killings of Christians in Nigeria, she came under pressure from individuals she linked to the minister, including what she characterised as attempts to discredit her report and “buy support” from US-based elected officials.

According to her, an unnamed American lawmaker allegedly received an offer of financial inducement to publicly counter her position and defend the Nigerian defence leadership.

She claimed to have received evidence of a communication, including a prepared statement and promotional material, purportedly linked to the minister.

She also claimed that the bribery attempt is meant to divide America elected officials not knowing that they are united.

PoliticsFrank Petitions U.S., Demands Gbajabiamila’s Resignation by Jatuski(op): 2:07pm On Apr 21
Political activist, Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the United States Government to investigate and sanction the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over alleged actions capable of undermining Nigeria’s democracy.

Frank’s demand followed a viral video in which Gbajabiamila was quoted as telling Hon Leke Abejide, during his wife’s 50th birthday that: “Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing… stay in ADC and win your election… bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court.”

Describing the remarks as “reckless” and dangerous, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said they point to a deliberate attempt to weaken opposition parties and erode democratic institutions.

“Your statement, as Chief of Staff, raises serious concerns about the determination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s regime to truncate democracy,” he said, adding that “inference can be made that there is an infringement on the independence of the judiciary.”

He warned that any suggestion that courts could be influenced “undermines public confidence in democratic institutions,” citing references to political actors, including Leke Abejide, as requiring clarification to avoid “dangerous interpretations.”

Frank argued that Gbajabiamila’s comments effectively confirm the Presidency’s involvement in crises rocking opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“When a Chief of Staff speaks, it reflects the body language of the President. This points to a deliberate attempt to weaken opposition and consolidate power,” he said.

He further claimed that state influence, including the use of the judiciary, is being deployed against opposition parties. “The audacity of the statement suggests nothing will happen even if opposition parties are destabilised. That is dangerous,” he added.

Frank described Gbajabiamila as “an alter ego of the President” who had “displayed the arrogance of power,” insisting that public office holders must uphold restraint, respect for the rule of law and constitutional order.

He also urged U.S. authorities to probe Gbajabiamila’s activities and financial dealings.

“As an American citizen, he should be held accountable. We want to know if he is meeting his tax obligations in line with his earnings in Nigeria,” Frank said, describing him as “a bad ambassador of the United States.”

“We want to be sure that all earnings, including those from official and business engagements in Nigeria, are properly declared and taxed,” he added.

On accountability, Frank insisted resignation was the only honourable option.

“We call for your resignation with immediate effect. If such a statement were made in the United States, the official involved would have resigned forthwith,” he said.

He disclosed plans to petition the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, stressing that “those entrusted with leadership must reflect humility, constitutional awareness and respect for separation of powers.”

“Power is transient, but institutions must endure. Any comment that diminishes their independence must be corrected,” he added.

The call comes amid rising concerns over the stability of Nigeria’s multiparty system and allegations of increasing pressure on opposition parties.

SportsLate Galadima Made Us Proud - Nimrod by Jatuski(op): 9:15pm On Apr 20
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has described the death of former Nigeria Football Asst (NFA) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima as a huge loss to the sporting world.

In a statement that he personally signed and made available on Monday April 20, 2026, he said the late Galadima made Nigeria proud while alive.

"My brother, my elder, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has returned to his Creator, and I am heartbroken.

I find it difficult to speak of Alhaji in the past tense because his impact is still very present with us. As Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association from 2002 to 2006, he led Nigerian football with dignity at a time our clubs and national teams made us proud on the continent," he said.

He explained that as a founding father of Kano Pillars FC, he gave the club the structure that made it a powerhouse in the league.

"Before that, he served Kano State as Commissioner for Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, and later as Chairman of the State Sports Commission, always pushing for grassroots development. At the national level, he rose to become 1st Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.

"But beyond titles, Alhaji was a man of rare integrity. Those of us who are younger in sports administration looked up to him. He corrected with love, advised with wisdom, and never closed his door to anyone who wanted to learn. I am personally a beneficiary of his counsel, and for that I will remain grateful," Nimrod said.

"To his family, to Kano Pillars FC, to the Kano State Government, and to the entire Nigerian sports family: please accept my deepest condolences. We have lost a father, a mentor, and a patriot.

"May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, widen his grave, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. May He also grant you all sabr jameel to bear this heavy loss.

"I mourn with you. I pray with you," he said.

PoliticsA Time To Reward Loyalty And Service: The Case Of Hon Almustapha Ladan Sokoto by Jatuski(op): 2:35pm On Apr 18
By; MUAZU MUHAMMAD

In every democratic society, leadership is defined not only by ambition, but by service, sacrifice, consistency, and measurable impact on the lives of the people. In Sokoto State today, a growing consensus is emerging around one figure whose political journey reflects these values in practice —Hon. Almustapha Ladan.

Across the political and social landscape of Sokoto State, his name has become increasingly associated with grassroots connection, humanitarian service, and unwavering loyalty to democratic structures.

His long-standing commitment to the ideals of the All-Progressives Congress has been marked by consistent participation, mobilization, and personal sacrifice in support of party growth and electoral success at both state and national levels.

Unlike many political actors whose engagement is limited to election periods, Hon. Ladan’s presence in communities has remained constant.

His approach to leadership is rooted in direct interaction with the people, enabling him to understand their challenges firsthand and respond with practical interventions rather than promises.

One of the most defining aspects of his public service is his humanitarian impact. Over the years, he has consistently sponsored the education of at least 100 children annually, offering opportunities to families who struggle with the burden of school fees.

This investment in education has created pathways for young people to build better futures and has become one of his most widely recognized contributions.

In addition, his interventions in water access through the provision of boreholes in several underserved communities have significantly improved living conditions. For many rural households, these efforts have addressed a critical need and reduced daily hardship, particularly in areas where access to clean water is limited.

Beyond these direct interventions, Hon. Ladan has also been widely recognized for his commitment to poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, women development, education, and healthcare support.

His political philosophy is anchored on the belief that leadership must translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives, especially at the grassroots level.

Within political circles, he is often described as a mobilizer with rare organizational strength, capable of building and sustaining networks across all 23 local government areas of Sokoto State.

His supporters argue that his influence is not manufactured but earned through years of engagement, trust-building, and consistent service delivery.

As the political atmosphere gradually builds toward the 2027 electoral cycle, public discourse across Sokoto State is increasingly centered on recognition and reward for proven service.

There is a growing belief among citizens and political observers that individuals who have demonstrated loyalty, sacrifice, and measurable impact should not remain without formal acknowledgment or elevated responsibility.

In this context, Hon. Almustapha Ladan is frequently mentioned as a figure whose contributions deserve both state and national recognition.

Many believe that rewarding such sustained service would not only be just, but also reinforce a political culture that values performance, loyalty, and grassroots development.

His supporters emphasize that leadership should not be viewed solely as competition, but as responsibility earned through service.

From their perspective, Hon. Ladan represents a tested example of what grassroots democracy should produce: a leader deeply connected to the people, responsive to their needs, and committed to long-term development.

For many communities across Sokoto State, his contributions are already self-evident. What remains, in their view, is formal recognition that aligns his long-standing efforts with appropriate responsibility within the political structure.

As conversations continue across political and civic spaces, one message is becoming increasingly clear: this is a moment to acknowledge service, reward commitment, and elevate those who have consistently stood with the people.

In the case of Hon. Almustapha Ladan, many believe that moment is now.

‎A wave of excitement on Thursday, swept across Adamawa State capital as thousands of supporters thronged the streets of Jimeta to witness the formal declaration of Tijjani Ahmed Galadima for the 2027 governorship race, in what was described as the most vibrant political outing in recent times.

‎The event drew a massive turnout from all 21 local government areas of the state, with youths, women, and key stakeholders rallying behind the aspirant in a show of solidarity that underscored his growing grassroots appeal.

‎From early hours of the day, supporters converged at major locations in Jimeta, creating an electrifying atmosphere marked by chants, music, and colourful displays.

‎Notably, many young people and women groups used the occasion to announce the launch of crowdfunding initiatives aimed at supporting Galadima’s campaign logistics.

‎According to them, the move reflects a people-driven commitment to his candidacy and a shared vision for improved governance in the state.

‎One of the coordinators of the initiative explained that the decision to mobilize resources independently was borne out of their belief in Galadima’s leadership capacity. He noted that the effort represents their contribution towards building a more inclusive and equitable Adamawa State.

‎The procession, which stretched from the Yola International Airport through major roads to Atiku Abubakar Way, brought vehicular movement to a near standstill for several hours. The sheer volume of supporters, alongside party faithful and political allies, created significant traffic gridlock across many routes in the state capital.

‎Our reporter observed that the gathering cut across various segments of society including students, traders, professionals, and organized professional groups who expressed their total solidarity to Galadima's aspiration.

‎Placards bearing messages of endorsement were visible throughout the crowd, while supporters chanted slogans expressing confidence in Galadima’s ability to usher in a new phase of socio-economic development.

Galadima Receives Heroic Welcome In Yola, Says Guber Ambition Out Of Popular Call

‎A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Galadima, has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship of Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections, receiving a rousing welcome from supporters in Yola.

‎Galadima made his declaration shortly after arriving in the state capital, where a large crowd of party loyalists, youth groups, women, and well-wishers gathered to receive him in what observers described as a strong early show of political strength.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement, as chants and cheers filled the air, signaling growing grassroots momentum for his ambition.

‎Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Galadima said his decision to join the governorship race was driven by sustained calls from the people of Adamawa, stressing that his ambition goes beyond personal interest. He framed his candidacy as a response to a collective yearning for responsive leadership and sustainable development.

‎“The people have called, and I have answered. This is not just about politics; it is about shaping the future of our state, empowering our youth, and restoring hope in governance,” he said.

‎He expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support he has received across various communities, noting that the widespread acceptance of his aspiration reflects a shared desire for change and purposeful leadership. According to him, his campaign is anchored on unity, inclusiveness, and the determination to build a fair and people-centered system.

‎As part of activities marking his declaration, Galadima is set to commission an ultra-modern campaign office in Yola. The facility, he explained, will serve as a hub for grassroots mobilization, strategic engagement, and coordination of political activities across the state as the 2027 elections approach.

‎The event is expected to attract key stakeholders within the APC, including party executives, community leaders, and youth representatives, further underscoring what many see as an early consolidation of support ahead of the polls.

‎Galadima reaffirmed his commitment to delivering a stronger and more prosperous Adamawa, describing the journey to 2027 as “a mission powered by the people.” He emphasized that his administration, if elected, would prioritize development initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.

‎Several prominent figures who spoke at the event threw their weight behind his candidacy. A former Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State Government, Professor Maxwell Gidado, declared that the Southern Zone stands firmly behind Galadima’s ambition, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the state effectively.

‎Also speaking, Ambassador Calvin Peter described the massive turnout as a clear demonstration of the broad appeal of Galadima’s message and leadership vision.

‎In his remarks, the lawmaker representing Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency, Abubakar Baba Zango, highlighted the historical imbalance in the state’s political leadership. He noted that since Nigeria’s creation, the Adamawa Central Zone has yet to produce an elected governor, calling on stakeholders to rally behind Galadima’s candidacy as both timely and justified.

‎Adding her voice, Bema Ovaldi, a member of the Federal Character Commission, expressed optimism about Galadima’s chances, pointing to the growing coalition of support cutting across ethnic, cultural, and community lines within Adamawa State.

‎With the 2027 race still ahead, Galadima’s declaration appears to have set the tone for what promises to be an engaging political contest in the state.

CrimeAgain, Customs FOU Zone B Intercepts Live Pangolins by Jatuski(op): 5:30pm On Apr 09
*Unit records second major interception in two weeks along Kano-Jigawa axis

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’, has dealt another blow to wildlife traffickers with the interception of additional live pangolins being illegally transported along the Kano–Takai–Jigawa road.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Ag. PRO,
ASCII Mohammed Usman Balarabe, made available to newsmen on Thursday April 9, 2026.

It informed that the this latest arrest occurred on 26 March 2026 at approximately 13:00 hours. This follows a similar successful operation conducted on 12 March 2026, marking a significant escalation in the Unit's enforcement activities this month.

The seizures were effected pursuant to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), an international agreement to which Nigeria is a signatory, which strictly prohibits trade that threatens the survival of wild species.

In the most recent incident, operatives acting on intelligence flagged down a suspicious vehicle during a routine patrol. Upon inspection, the endangered mammals were discovered concealed within the vehicle.

All intercepted animals from both the March 12 and March 26 operations have been secured and conveyed to the FOU Zone ‘B’ headquarters in Kaduna for further processing and handover to relevant wildlife authorities.

The Comptroller of the Unit, Comptroller Aminu Sule, has reiterated his stance on wildlife crime, ordering a comprehensive investigation to dismantle the syndicate responsible.

He stated: “The frequency of these interceptions—twice within a fortnight—demonstrates our heightened surveillance. This seizure sends a clear message: Zone ‘B’ will not be a transit point or a safe haven for wildlife traffickers.”

Pangolins are currently the most trafficked mammals in the world. The Nigeria Customs Service remains resolute in enforcing environmental laws and international treaties to protect Nigeria’s biodiversity and fulfill its global conservation obligations.

PoliticsStifling Opposition Parties: NYA Calls For Nationwide Protests by Jatuski(op): 8:20am On Apr 03
*Says Press Conferences by opposition not enough

*Slams Atiku, opposition over cold handling of development

*Insists Nigerians at receiving end

The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has demanded actions that will halt the All Progressives Congress (APC) from crippling opposition parties with a view to giving the ruling party an easy ride in the 2027 general elections.

NYA Youth President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas expressed this in a statement signed by his SA Media and Publicity, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday April 2, 2026.

"The attention of the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has been drawn to the planned press conference to be led by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar alongside opposition leaders and political stakeholders concerning recent developments within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

"While we recognize the importance of political dialogue and institutional engagement, we must respectfully but firmly state that this moment in Nigeria demands far more than routine press briefings and political formalities," it said.

According to the statement titled, "OFFICIAL STATEMENT
A CALL FOR COURAGEOUS AND PEOPLE-CENTERED LEADERSHIP" NYA lamented that Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads.

"Millions of citizens—particularly young people—are grappling daily with insecurity, economic hardship, and a growing sense of abandonment. At such a defining time, leadership must rise beyond statements and demonstrate courage, sacrifice, and genuine solidarity with the people.

"We therefore challenge both the leadership in power and the opposition to move beyond mere press conferences and embrace bold, unifying actions that resonate with the realities of Nigerians. If indeed the intention is to stand with the people, then let it be reflected through: A peaceful national protest that gives voice to the pains and aspirations of Nigerians.

"A collective call for fasting and prayers, seeking divine intervention and national healing.

"Visible and personal sacrifices that inspire confidence and restore hope among citizens."

NYA warned that anything short of this risks being perceived as political routine rather than purposeful leadership.

"It is deeply concerning that while political actors swiftly align and realign when power is at stake, the same urgency and unity are often absent when confronting the existential challenges facing the nation particularly insecurity and the protection of lives.

"The truth must be told: many of our political leaders, both in government and in opposition, have lost direction. What Nigeria urgently requires now is a new generation of leaders bold, selfless, and committed to protecting the people above personal or political interests.

'History will not remember statements it will remember actions, courage, and sacrifice.

"The youth of this nation are watching. The time to act is now," it concluded.

PoliticsFrank To INEC, APC: Illegal Action Against ADC Will Set Nigeria On Fire by Jatuski(op): 4:03pm On Apr 02
*Urges US urgent intervention to safeguard democracy

A political activist and former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling APC of taking actions capable of destabilising Nigeria’s democratic system, warning that recent developments involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could trigger a national crisis.

He also called on the United States Government, especially President Donald Trump, to intervene to safeguard democracy in Nigeria.

Frank in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, was reacting to a decision by INEC to henceforth derecognise the David Mark’s leadership of the ADC or that of the erstwhile Vice Chairman of the party, Nafiu Bala Gombe - who claims to be the authentic acting national chairman of the party - pending the determination of a suit filed by the latter before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

However, Frank in a swift riposte alleged that interference in opposition parties, now extending to the ADC, poses a serious threat to democratic governance and could “set Nigeria on fire” if not urgently addressed.

“INEC and the APC-led government appear to be taking steps that threaten the very foundation of our democracy,” he said, adding that the pattern of events across opposition parties suggests a coordinated attempt to weaken political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He warned that the trend mirrors developments during the regime of former Head of State, Sani Abacha, when democratic institutions were suppressed.

“This pattern is reminiscent of the tactics employed during the era of General Sani Abacha,” Frank stated.

The activist expressed concern over the actions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that recent developments point to a drift towards authoritarianism.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, through recent actions, evoked concerns of a return to authoritarian tendencies. His desperation to retain power by all means raises serious questions about the future of democratic governance in Nigeria,” he said.

Frank claimed that internal crises within major opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, Social Democratic Party (SDP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), had been influenced by external forces, and warned that the situation was now spreading to the ADC.

He further alleged that the judiciary was being deployed to frustrate opposition parties through questionable rulings.

“The courts and the judiciary have been used to thwart democratic processes with frivolous decisions,” he said, calling on the international community to take action against what he described as violations of judicial integrity.

Frank further called for sanctions, including visa restrictions, against electoral and judicial officials.

“We are calling for sanctions, visa restrictions against these persons… the 2027 election is important to Nigerians, democracy must thrive,” he said.

He also alleged that opposition figures were being targeted through arrests and legal actions.

“They arrest opposition leaders unnecessarily, without charges, and frame them with allegations ranging from terrorism to corruption,” he claimed.

Frank warned that Nigeria could be heading towards instability if the situation persists.

“Nigeria is about to head into anarchy and a crisis that might be difficult to curtail,” he said, adding that such developments have historically led to political upheavals, including civil wars in other countries.

He urged Nigerians, civil society organisations and religious leaders to rise in defence of democracy.

“I call on all well-meaning Nigerians, including the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and traditional rulers, among others, to speak up and defend our democracy. Silence at this critical moment is not an option,” he said.

The activist also appealed to the international community, particularly the United States, to intervene in support of democratic values.

“I urge the international community to remain vigilant… particularly the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to encourage and support the preservation of democratic values in Nigeria,” he added.

Frank maintained that Nigerians had a history of resisting anti-democratic forces and would do so again.

“Nigerians have resisted similar challenges in the past and will do so again. Freedom of association and the right to choose must be protected for all Nigerians. Enough is enough,” he said.

Politics2027: Presidency Plotting To Discredit ADC, Opposition Leaders - CSO by Jatuski(op): 6:19pm On Mar 31
A Civil Society Organization known as Nigeria Democratic Rights Advocacy (NDRA) has alleged of a plot by the presidency aimed at dislodging the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The allegation by the group against the presidency is contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary-General of the (NDRA), Hon. Julius Aondowase on Tuesday.

According to the group, the rising profile of the ADC, especially in the Northern part of the country has caused the presidency to be unsettled and upset with a particular prominent appointee of APC administration from the North.

Aondowase said his group got a credible intelligence that the said top Northern politician, in a spirited effort to stem the tide of the ADC convened a meeting on Monday involving several Senior Advocates of Nigeria and members of the Bench with discussions centered on strategies that could be deployed to hinder the ADC from participating in the upcoming general elections next year.

“We have it from a reliable source that a meeting was convened on Monday with senior legal minds in Abuja.

“The purpose of the meeting is to explore all possible options that would compromise the judicial system to stop the ADC from participating in the election next year.

“We are also aware that the decision to get the ADC off the ballot in the upcoming election was handed down to the Northern top politician in the presidency.

“It is the last joker by the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress to ensure a system of control over all viable opposition parties ahead of the election next year.

“After failing in the attempt to compromise the leadership structure of the ADC, the ruling party has now resorted to the last option of using the judicial process to stop the ADC,” the statement claimed.

The NDRA specifically claimed that the ongoing litigation challenging the authenticity of the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee of the ADC is being orchestrated by the ruling party.

“It is clear to us that the APC is the brain behind the sinister conspiracy to disqualify the David Mark leadership of the ADC, with the sole purpose of submitting the ADC to the whims of the ruling party.

“We make particular reference to a letter threatening the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, dated 28 March, 2026 asking that INEC should desist from recognizing the current leadership of the ADC,” the statement added.

Aondowase, however noted that the Nigeria Democratic Rights Advocacy is actively working with other civil rights organizations and professional bodies across the country, and is putting the relevant countries in notice through their embassies in Nigeria, that any attempt to cancel active opposition in Nigeria would be rejected and resisted.

He said further that the plan by the government was to effect the delegitimization of the ADC through what he called the obnoxious revised Electoral Act, which would technically disenfranchise opposition leaders in the ADC, locking them out of contesting in the 2027 general elections.

“The script that is being played by the government is clear: lock out all potential opponents against the ruling party and only the pliable opposition will be allowed to contest in the elections.

“Their agenda is to use the judiciary to eliminate the ADC, which is the most credible opposition party and by extension, through the instrumentality of the jaundiced Electoral Act amendment, disenfranchise all potential opponents of President Bola Tinubu.

“All civil society groups in Nigeria and concerned stakeholders in the democracy of this country are on red alert.

“The action to compromise our democracy and make the APC the only option on the ballot without a choice of a credible opponent will not be tolerated or accepted.

“We are by this press statement, therefore, calling the attention of all stakeholders, foreign governments and the generality of the masses of Nigeria to the machinations of the APC to cancel credible opposition, specifically the ADC from participating in the elections next year.

“We also send a note of warning those involved in this plot to put their focus squarely on the job of providing adequate security and welfare for the people of Nigeria who are daily being attacked, maimed and unalived by ravenous bandits and criminals,” the group said.
