PoliticsUS Action Exposes Nigerian Government’s Reluctance To Fight Terrorism - Frank by Jatuski(op): 8:53am On Dec 05, 2025
*Commends Trump for stepping in where Nigerian leaders failed

Nigerian political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday, accused the Nigerian government of deliberately shielding financiers of terrorism while the country sinks deeper into violence and mass killings.

Frank said recent actions by US President Donald J. Trump and the US Congress have “embarrassed and compelled” the Nigerian government into reluctantly taking steps it should have taken years ago.

“I wish to thank President Trump and the good people of the United States who have shown sympathy and support for Nigerians at a time when terrorists and bandits threaten to overrun our nation,” Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, said.

“I commend Secretary Marco Rubio for the strong visa restrictions placed on terror sponsors. This action is a welcome development and proof that the U.S. is more committed to ending insecurity in Nigeria than our own leaders.”

According to him, the visa restrictions imposed by the U.S. on sponsors of terrorism, announced by Secretary Marco Rubio, mark “the first serious international move that has forced Nigeria’s government to even pretend to act.”

“Let it be clearly stated: if President Trump had not stepped in, Nigeria’s leaders would still be looking the other way,” Frank declared.
“The U.S. has shown more will, more commitment, and more empathy toward Nigerians than the very government elected to serve and protect them.”

Frank said the biggest evidence of the Nigerian government’s unwillingness to confront insecurity is its refusal, across two administrations, to release the full list of terror financiers earlier exposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“The government already has the list. The UAE gave it to them during the Buhari administration,” he said. “Yet, till today, the names have not been released because many of those sponsoring terrorism are politically connected. Some are members of the ruling party. That is the truth they do not want Nigerians to know.”

He added that corruption and political protection have made it impossible for the government to truly fight insecurity despite having the capacity to do so.

“The Nigerian government is not helpless,” he said. “It is simply compromised. And that is why terrorists and bandits have become emboldened enough to threaten the very soul of our country.”

Frank emphasised that the U.S. government’s intervention reflects a level of concern that Nigeria’s own leaders have failed to demonstrate.

“The U.S. has no obligation to spend its taxpayers’ money to protect Nigerians,” he noted. “Yet President Trump and members of Congress have shown more outrage over the kidnappings, genocide and mass killings in Nigeria than our own government, which continues to act with disturbing indifference.”

Frank urged the U.S. government not to share any intelligence with Nigerian authorities until the federal government releases the full, unedited list of terror financiers exactly as submitted by the UAE.

“There are terrorist sympathizers within the system,” he warned. “Sharing intelligence with people who may be compromised is dangerous. Until the names are publicly released and prosecuted, no sensitive information should be handed over.”

He condemned the Nigerian government for what he described as “reckless insensitivity,” citing reports of new luxury vehicles being purchased for political supporters while citizens are being massacred.

“At a time when Nigerians are being slaughtered daily, the government is busy buying jeeps and cars to prepare for the 2027 elections,” Frank said. “This shameful display shows exactly where their priorities lie, and it is not with the people.”

Frank who also serves as the Senior Advisor to the Global Friendship City Association (GFCA), USA, thanked the U.S. Congress, particularly Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Riley Moore, for championing the call to rescue Nigeria from escalating violence and instability.

“On behalf of millions of Nigerians who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods, we express profound gratitude to President Trump and the U.S. government,” he said.

“Their intervention has exposed what our own leaders have refused to confront and has given Nigerians renewed hope that this nightmare can end.”

AgricultureFoundation Kick-starts Agricredit4her For Farmers In 3 Kaduna Communities by Jatuski(op): 6:45pm On Dec 04, 2025
Graceland Community Development Foundation has successfully kick-started the AgriCredit4Her for its project Initiative with a one-day training held on December 2, 2025 for 70 women farmers across three communities in Chikun LGA, Sabon Tasha and Maraba Rido of Kaduna State.

The AgriCredit4rher initiative aims to empower women farmers by training them on best modern farming practices and afterwards link then to financial opportunities to boost their productivity.

In her welcome address at the training, founder and lead of the foundation, Grace Hosea said that it's the beginning of a new chapter for female farmers.

"Today is not just another training, it marks the beginning of a new chapter for women farmers in Chikun, Sabon Tasha, and Maraban Rido.

"I am deeply honored and proud to stand before 70 strong, hardworking women who feed their families and contribute to our economy every single day," she said.

According to her, for long, women farmers have worked tirelessly with very little support or no access to credit, no modern tools, and limited opportunities.

"AgriCredit4Her was created to change that story. This initiative is about giving you knowledge, giving you access, and giving you a voice in the agricultural economy.

"Today, you have learnt modern farming practices that can transform your yields and income. But we are not stopping at training alone. We will also work with you to connect you to real financial opportunities so you can access loans, grow your farms, and move from subsistence to sustainable agribusiness," she said.

Grace Hosea therefore, charged all the women present at the training , to remember that their hands feed the nation.

"And your dreams are valid. When women succeed in agriculture, families thrive, communities grow, and Nigeria becomes stronger," she assured.

On behalf of Graceland Community Development Foundation, she thanked the women for their courage, commitment, and belief in the vision.

"Together, we will build a future where women farmers no longer struggle alone," she further assured.

PoliticsNorthern Group Welcomes Yakubu’s Nomination As Ambassador by Jatuski(op): 9:06am On Dec 04, 2025
The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the nomination of former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, as Nigeria’s ambassador to an unspecified international mission, describing the development as a boost to the nation’s diplomatic profile.

In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja and signed by its Chairman, Salihu Sulaiman, the group said the nomination was a recognition of Yakubu’s “distinguished record of public service” and his “vast experience in global affairs,” which it argued would be invaluable in strengthening Nigeria’s engagement on the international stage.

Sulaiman noted that the former INEC chairman had earned national and international respect during his stewardship at the electoral body, where he championed reforms aimed at improving electoral transparency and deepening democratic processes.

He dismissed concerns raised in some quarters that Yakubu’s new appointment could compromise the independence of INEC, insisting such fears were “misguided and reckless.”

According to him, the neutrality of INEC is anchored on law, institutional safeguards, and multilayered oversight mechanisms—not on the post-service career of any individual.

“INEC’s integrity is not tied to the personal trajectory of any former official,” Sulaiman said. “It is a system strengthened by reforms since 2010, monitored by political parties, civil society organisations, and the media. Democracy rests on institutions, not personalities.”

The group further highlighted Yakubu’s career under four successive presidents—Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Ahmed Tinubu—as evidence of his professionalism and non-partisan disposition.

It recalled that as Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) between 2007 and 2012, Yakubu initiated reforms that continue to shape the nation’s tertiary education sector. It also pointed to innovations introduced under his leadership during the 2023 general elections, which it said enabled opposition parties to record their highest number of elective positions in the country’s political history.

The Northern Awareness Network urged Nigerians to support the nomination, adding that effective diplomacy required individuals with proven administrative competence and an understanding of Nigeria’s governance architecture.

Sulaiman stressed that rather than question Yakubu’s nomination, Nigerians should focus on strengthening national institutions and reinforcing accountability across all sectors.

“This appointment is an opportunity to present Nigeria’s democratic values to the world with credibility,” he added. “We call on Nigerians to rally behind this development and remain committed to building strong, resilient institutions.”

The statement concluded with the group expressing confidence that Professor Yakubu would bring his “wealth of experience, integrity, and calm leadership” to the diplomatic assignment once confirmed.

PoliticsNorthern Group Dismisses Fears Over Yakubu’s Ambassadorial Nomination by Jatuski(op): 9:26pm On Dec 02, 2025
*Says INEC’s independence remains intact

The Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative (NSCI) has dismissed concerns that the ambassadorial nomination of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, could compromise the commission’s independence and impartiality.

In a statement issued by its Convener, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, the group described the ongoing public debate as “misguided and reckless,” insisting that INEC’s autonomy is protected by law, not by the personal career choices of its officials.

Shettima noted that INEC’s independence is anchored on strong legal and institutional frameworks that prevent undue interference, adding that suggestions that Yakubu’s post-service appointment could taint the commission’s neutrality were unfounded.

“The integrity of INEC does not hinge on the actions of one individual. It is secured by robust structural safeguards and the active engagement of all stakeholders,” the statement read.

The NSCI emphasized that INEC remains the most scrutinized public institution in Nigeria, with its activities monitored by political parties, civil society organizations, and the media.

According to the group, this level of oversight ensures that no single individual, including the chairman, can compromise the commission’s credibility.

Highlighting reforms since 2010, the organization said the electoral body has built a resilient system that continues to improve over time.

It added that the 2023 general elections—described as historic for opposition parties—were a testament to the commission’s evolving strength and institutional capacity rather than the influence of any one official.

The group also defended Professor Yakubu’s record in public service, noting that he had served under four presidents with differing political ideologies—Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu—without partisan controversy.

Shettima further recalled Yakubu’s achievements as head of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) between 2007 and 2012, where he was credited with helping to transform Nigeria’s tertiary education landscape.

His tenure at INEC, he said, had similarly been marked by technological innovation and improved transparency.

The NSCI urged stakeholders to prioritize strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions rather than amplifying fears over individual appointments, stressing that democracy thrives on strong systems, not personalities.

“We call on political parties, civil society, and the media to reject narratives that undermine INEC and to recommit to accountability, transparency, and the rule of law,” the statement added.

The group reaffirmed its support for Yakubu’s nomination and called for collective efforts to maintain the integrity of the country’s electoral framework.

Nairaland General2025: NEMA Says 17,000 Displaced By Flood In Kaduna, Katsina by Jatuski(op): 5:04pm On Dec 02, 2025
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says no fewer than 17,000 residents were displaced by flooding in Kaduna, Katsina states in 2025.

Suleiman Muhammad, Head of Operations, NEMA Kaduna Office, disclosed this on Tuesday during an assessment visit to affected communities following relief interventions by the agency.

He said the floods, which began late August, triggered immediate deployment of search and rescue teams in collaboration with sister agencies.

"Evacuations were carried out on Kigo Road, Bachama Road in Tudun Wada, Rafin Guza, Haliru Dantoro, Nasarawa and other submerged locations."

Muhammad said an IDP camp was opened on September 13 in Tudun Wada for displaced families from Bachama Road, while NEMA provided mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets and other essential supplies to support SEMA’s response.

He added that nine communities in Kaduna metropolis recorded 11,919 displaced persons, while 1,644 were affected in Tudun Jukum and Kamacha in Zaria.

In Kankia LGA of Katsina State, 3,499 residents were displaced in Galadima I, Galadima II and Gachi communities.

"Damage reports have been forwarded to NEMA headquarters for further action," he informed.

Some respondents who spoke to newsmen, commended NEMA for the gesture, confirming that they received the items and were satisfied with the agency’s swift response during the 2025 floods.

Amanda Stephen, displaced from Kajuru, appreciated the food and relief items but said victims “need more durable assistance as several houses have been washed away”.

PoliticsTimi Frank Raises Alarm Over Alleged Assassination Plot Against Atiku by Jatuski(op): 10:12am On Dec 02, 2025
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has raised a serious alarm over what he described as a grand plot by the presidency to assassinate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Frank said the sudden withdrawal of all police personnel attached to Atiku, despite his statutory entitlement as a former Vice President, was not only suspicious but part of a wider scheme to expose him to danger.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, in the strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, said:

“No administration since 2007 has ever tampered with Atiku Abubakar’s security, despite his consistent role as a major opposition figure. Why now? Why at a time when insecurity is at an all-time high across the country? This action clearly reveals an ulterior motive.”

He stated that the claim that security was being withdrawn broadly from VIPs was a smokescreen, insisting that the main target is Atiku Abubakar.

“This so-called blanket withdrawal is a cover-up. The real objective is to isolate and eliminate Atiku ahead of the 2027 election. The pattern is too obvious to ignore. Atiku, by law, is entitled to police protection as a former Vice President. Removing his security at this critical time is deliberate and dangerous,” Frank said.

Frank warned that the move mirrors dangerous political trends across Africa, where incumbent leaders intimidate, arrest, detain, prosecute and, in extreme cases, eliminate opposition leaders to retain power.

“President Tinubu is now following the disturbing trend in parts of Africa where incumbents use state power to silence their opponents. Atiku has been very vocal in exposing the failures of this administration, and this withdrawal of security is nothing but political witch-hunt,” he declared.

The activist further alleged that the composition of the country’s security architecture, dominated by individuals loyal to the President, suggests an attempt to ensure that state institutions carry out political assignments without resistance.

“It is no coincidence that nearly all top security positions are held by people from the President’s ethnic group. They were appointed to carry out political dirty jobs, and this is one of them,” Frank who is a Senior Advisor to the Global Friendship City Association (GFCA), USA, declared.

Frank urged Nigerians and the international community, especially the United States, United Kingdom, African Union, and ECOWAS, to immediately take note of the development.

“We alert Nigerians and the international community. If anything happens to Atiku Abubakar, this government should be held responsible.

The pattern is the same used in communities where security agents are suddenly withdrawn before bandits strike. They are attempting to create room for something sinister,” he said.

He challenged the government to prove its claim of a general security withdrawal by also stripping the President’s family members, close associates and political appointees of their police orderlies and escorts.

“If this directive is truly nationwide, then let the President’s family members, friends and appointees also lose their security. They are also VIPs. But we know the truth: the main target is Atiku Abubakar, nobody else.”

Frank concluded by warning that democracy is being pushed to the brink, saying: “Nigeria is entering dangerous territory. Any attack on Atiku or any opposition leader will plunge this nation into crisis. The world must not wait until it happens.”

PoliticsAPC Chieftain Condemns, Rejects Heavy Taxation Of Aba Traders Under Alex Otti by Jatuski(op): 1:21pm On Dec 01, 2025
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Prince Paul Ikonne, has condemned in strong terms, the actions of Governor Alex Otti’s appointees who, under the guise of market leadership, have turned Aba markets into centers of intimidation, extortion, and unchecked harassment.

Prince Ikonne expressed deep worries over the untold hardship traders in Ariaria and other major markets in Aba are currently facing in the hands of these government-backed enforcers.

According to him, the governor’s appointees have weaponized taxation, turning a lawful civic responsibility into a brutal tool of oppression.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Ujo Justice, Ikonne recalled how Governor Otti, during campaigns, criticized the ₦18,000 levy imposed by the former administration as “too high” and promised drastic reduction.

" Shockingly, upon assuming office, the same governor inflated the levy to an outrageous ₦36,000, pushing thousands of struggling traders into deeper economic misery," he said.

Prince Ikonne said that traders who can barely afford their daily survival are now confronted with an impossible choice: pay the inflated levy or lose their only source of livelihood.

According to reports from the markets, government enforcers now move under the cover of night to seal shops of traders who have not paid the new high levy. By morning, affected traders are forced to either pay or face even harsher consequences.

"Those who attempt to unseal their shops by themselves are met with coercion, assault, and brutalization from a combined force of government-recruited thugs, police, and even naval personnel. In many cases, traders are re-arrested, their shops re-sealed, and they are forced to pay as much as ₦45,000.

“This is not governance; this is tyranny,” Prince Ikonne declared. “How can a governor who receives over 30 billion naira in monthly federal allocations turn around to strangulate ordinary traders struggling to feed their families? What exactly does Governor Otti want from the meagre earnings of the common man?” He queried.

He emphasized that while tax policies must be humane, fair, and considerate of the prevailing economic difficulties faced by citizens. When taxation becomes a political weapon—arbitrary, excessive, and enforced with violence—it becomes unbearable and unacceptable.

Prince Ikonne further argued, “ I am worried that the present Abia state government has normalized the sealing of shops, properties, indiscriminate arrests, court summons, and humiliating treatment of Abians whose only crime is their inability to meet oppressive and inflated levies”.

“The rate of molestation and intimidation by agents of this government is alarming,” he stated. “No democratic society should subject its citizens to such cruelty. Governor Otti must remember that leadership is about service, not punishment.”

He called on Ndi Aba, Ndi Abia, and all well-meaning Nigerians to stand firm against what he described as a worsening pattern of anti-people policies. He urged Otti to immediately halt the nocturnal sealing of shops, withdraw security operatives from markets, and review the draconian levies imposed on traders.

Prince Ikonne concluded by reminding the governor that him is not licensed to impoverish, intimidate, or silence traders, but an opportunity to ease burdens and improve their welfare.

PoliticsFrank Demands Release Of Guinea-bissau Opposition Leader, Election Results by Jatuski(op): 9:11am On Nov 29, 2025
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has raised fresh alarm over what he describes as, “a dangerous assault on democracy in Guinea-Bissau,” following reports of a staged coup plot leading to the detention of main opposition leader, Domingos Simões Pereira and the withholding of presidential election results.

Frank said credible account from former President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria who witnessed the election, points to a coordinated political-military conspiracy allegedly engineered to halt transition after indications emerged that Pereira, candidate of PAIGC, may have secured majority votes against incumbent President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

He noted that early reports naming General Biagino Nhanca as a key figure in the alleged coup only strengthened growing suspicion that the military intervention was “a smokescreen designed to sabotage electoral outcome rather than protect the republic.”

Frank, who serves as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, in a strongly-worded statement, demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Pereira and the full declaration of results “as cast by the people, not edited by power.”

“What we are witnessing in Guinea-Bissau, if confirmed, is not a coup but a calculated civilian-military conspiracy to overturn the people’s verdict,” Frank, who was recently appointed Senior Advisor by the Global Friendship City Association (GFCA), USA, declared.

“This is unacceptable. It is an attempted robbery of democracy, an assault on the ballot, and a threat to the stability of the entire sub-region.”

He warned that silence from the international community would amount to endorsement, adding that Africa must not allow a precedent where incumbents can manufacture crises to thwart transition after defeat.

“If this goes unchallenged, it becomes a manual for dictators: lose an election, announce a coup, detain the opponent and freeze the results. Africa must reject this script before it becomes our new political culture,” he said.
“Democracy must never be negotiated - it must be defended.”

Frank called on ECOWAS, the African Union, the European Union, the United States and global pro-democracy institutions to “apply pressure without hesitation” to ensure Bissau authorities announce the official results and restore full civilian power without delay.

“The people of Guinea-Bissau have spoken through the ballot. The world must insist their voice be honoured,” he added.

“Let the results be released. Let democracy stand. Let Domingos Simões Pereira walk free.”

‎He called on the US, UK, EU and other development partners to immediately commence the seizure of assets and freezing of grants extended to the Guinea-Bissau administration and enforce strict disciplinary actions against President imballo and his accomplices.

Enough is enough! African leaders must know that there are consequences for illegality especially disenfranchisement of citizens and frustrating credible electoral process,” he said.

Frank reaffirmed his solidarity with the people of Guinea-Bissau and all Africans committed to democratic governance, insisting that “the ballot - not the barrel of a gun - must determine who leads."

InvestmentFCT: Kuchibena Violence Sparks Outrage, CSO Demands Arrest Of Hoodlums by Jatuski(op): 4:38pm On Nov 27, 2025
A civil society organisation, Pro-Impact Initiative, has condemned the violent attacks on officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the burning of a truck by suspected hoodlums in the Kuchibena community of Kafe District, Abuja.

The group has called on the FCT Police Commissioner and other security agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute those responsible.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday in Maitama, Abuja, the Executive Director of the group, Dr. Osamudiamen Isokpehi, described the assault as, “a continuous exhibition of recklessness and lawlessness” that must not be allowed to fester.

“The unfolding criminalities in Kuchibena community are a source of concern to us,” the group stated.

“On Monday, 24th November 2025, officials of the Development Control Department came under attack during a post-removal cleanup exercise in Winning Clause Estate, during which their official vehicle was vandalised in broad daylight.”

According to the CSO, the situation escalated two days later when hoodlums allegedly attacked a truck conveying construction materials to the estate.

“More worrisome was the attack in the night of Wednesday, 26th November, into the early hours of Thursday, 27th November. The assailants vandalised a truck delivering materials, set it ablaze, and destroyed window glasses of some buildings. This is totally unacceptable.” The statement said.

The Pro-Impact Initiative said its independent findings showed that FCTA officials acted in full compliance with four separate court judgments three from the FCT High Court and one from the Court of Appeal which affirmed that Winning Clause Estate had fully compensated the Kuchibena natives and was legally permitted to clear the area.

“Based on our investigation, the judges of the four courts affirmed that the community was fully compensated even overcompensated. Therefore, the attacks on government officials and private property are unjustifiable.”

The group accused the former Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Tanko Yamaho, of allegedly misleading his kinsmen.

“Yamaho himself knows clearly that they have been compensated severally and even saw them with the money. So why is he now misleading them?” the organisation queried.

“We call on the FCT Police Commissioner, the Director of DSS, and other security chiefs to immediately bring these criminal hoodlums to book before they wreck more havoc. Enough is enough.”

It would be recalled that, the owner and developer of Plot 67, Cadastral Zone C05, Kafe District, has insisted that the Kuchibena community was duly compensated in 2011, 2015, and 2016, but refused to vacate the land despite multiple court rulings.

The counsel to Winning Clause Nigeria Ltd, O. Marx Ikongbeh, Esq, told journalists during the enforcement exercise that the company was allocated the land in 2011 under the Abuja Mass Housing Programme.

He explained that upon taking possession, the estate developers met a small settlement of about 20 houses and paid compensation, after which the community agreed to relocate. However, after receiving payment, the community repeatedly sued the company in court.

“In total, compensation was paid not once, not twice, but three times,” Ikongbeh said.

“In its 2016 judgment, the FCT High Court ruled that the natives had no legal claim to compensation and declared them trespassers.”

He added that even after the judgment, the company continued engaging the community on humanitarian grounds as the settlement expanded and land sales persisted illegally.

“The final judgment came in February 2025 when the Court of Appeal upheld the company’s ownership and ordered the villagers to vacate the land. All four judgments affirmed that the settlement is illegal.”

Ikongbeh noted that the villagers also demanded money to perform traditional rites to ‘relocate their ancestors’, an amount the company paid in 2016 under an agreement mediated by the Sa’peyi of Garki.

Despite the compensation and legal directives, the village expanded unlawfully, encroaching onto part of Ring Road 3 and selling land to non-natives who built structures without approval.

PoliticsFrank Condemns Guinea-bissau Coup, Blames African Leaders For Democratic Failure by Jatuski(op): 9:23am On Nov 27, 2025
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Global Governance Advocate, Comrade Timi Frank, has strongly condemned the recent coup in Guinea-Bissau, describing it as “an unacceptable interruption of democratic order and a tragic reflection of the deepening governance failures across Africa.”

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Frank warned that while coups are unlawful and must never be encouraged, African leaders and regional bodies must also accept responsibility for enabling the circumstances that lead to forceful power seizures.

“I unequivocally condemn the coup in Guinea-Bissau. Military rule is never the answer,” said Frank, who was recently appointed Senior Advisor by the Global Friendship City Association (GFCA), USA.

“However, the rise of coups is a direct consequence of the persistent breakdown of democracy in Africa - rigged elections, constitutional manipulation, suppression of opposition, and leaders who refuse to relinquish power.”

Frank expressed concern that although the African Union (AU) and ECOWAS are swift in condemning military interventions, they often ignore democratic erosion caused by civilian leaders who undermine elections, alter constitutions for personal gain, and disregard the will of the people.

“How do AU and ECOWAS condemn coups with moral authority when they look away as leaders rig elections, intimidate opponents and illegally extend term limits? Democracy must be protected at its roots — not only after it collapses,” he added.

Frank, who also serves as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, cited controversies in Tanzania, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and other countries as examples of weakened democratic systems driving instability.

He also commended Ghana, Namibia and Botswana for sustaining credible electoral processes.

While affirming that no military takeover is justifiable, Frank urged Guinea-Bissau’s junta to immediately commence a transition programme and restore civil rule within six months.

“The military authorities must prioritise national stability and conduct a free, fair and transparent election within 180 days,” he said.

“Only then can Guinea-Bissau rebuild trust, restore constitutional order and protect its sovereignty.”

Frank further called on the international community - particularly the United States - to impose sanctions on African leaders who subvert democracy through election rigging or unconstitutional tenure extensions.

He urged the AU to revive the founding ideals of Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Haile Selassie, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Jomo Kenyatta and others who envisioned a united, democratic and accountable continent.

“The AU was created to unite Africa — one passport, one currency, one future. But today that dream is stalled. Many leaders have become toothless, and the continent is paying the price,” he said.

“We often blame the West, yet there are no coups there because institutions work and elections are credible. When opposition loses, they accept results because the system is fair. In Africa, the reverse is true.”

Frank referenced Cameroon’s recent election as a “classical example of democratic decay,” noting that President Paul Biya, 92, “again manipulated the system to retain power despite public rejection.”

“Political coups - the rigging of elections and manipulation of constitutions - are even more dangerous than military coups. Until African leaders change their conduct and respect the will of the people, instability will persist,” he warned.

He challenged the AU to evolve from a reactive body to one that prevents democratic breakdown rather than merely responding after power is seized.

“Without transparency, accountability and credible elections, more coups are inevitable.”

Frank reaffirmed his commitment to justice, constitutionalism and democratic stability in Africa.

“We will continue to oppose illegality - whether military or civilian. A new Africa is possible, but it must be built on truth, term limits and respect for the people’s mandate.”

PoliticsInsecurity: Babangida Aliyu , Says North Has ‘19 Sardaunas, But No Safety by Jatuski(op): 7:03pm On Nov 26, 2025
Former Governor of Niger State and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has expressed deep concern over the growing level of insecurity in the country, lamenting that the North now has “19 Sardaunas” but lacks the peace and order once associated with the late Premier of Northern Nigeria.

Aliyu made the remarks at a dinner organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna to celebrate his 70th birthday, where eminent Nigerians, former governors, and associates gathered in his honour.

The former governor said the rising incidents of killings, kidnappings and general insecurity were unacceptable, stressing that the primary responsibility of any government remains the protection of lives and property.

“Today we have 19 Sardaunas in name, but what are we hearing now? The level of insecurity, particularly in recent times, is troubling,” he said, recalling how a single murder in the old northern region once sent shockwaves across communities because of the region’s respect for human life.

Aliyu called on governments to prioritise security over infrastructure noting that flyovers and physical projects cannot replace the fundamental obligation of securing citizens.

“Anything you come to construct flyovers or whatever may be infrastructure, but your core responsibility is to protect the lives of the people,” he said.

Reflecting on the values of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, he said the Sardauna governed with integrity, sacrifice and selflessness, leaving behind neither mansions nor personal wealth, but a legacy of discipline and equitable leadership.

The celebrant, who described himself as “70 years plus 13 days,” said he had entered a phase of deeper reflection, gratitude and commitment to seeking forgiveness from his Creator.

He thanked the foundation for honouring him despite his initial reluctance.

Aliyu recalled his early educational journey and the era of free and quality schooling funded under the leadership vision of Sir Ahmadu Bello.

He said the North must rediscover that legacy of purposeful governance, discipline and investment in education.

He urged Nigerians to embrace a life free of bitterness, malice and jealousy, advising that daily self assessment was key to living long and living well.

“Review your day before you sleep. If your good deeds outweigh the bad, you will live longer,” he said.

The Director General of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Engr. Gambo Abubakar, read a citation, detailing Aliyu’s distinguished public service career, from his days as a teacher to his rise as a Permanent Secretary, member of the House of Representatives and later Governor of Niger State.

He described Aliyu as a statesman of rare integrity whose leadership of the Foundation has deepened its work in education, policy dialogue, humanitarian support and youth development across the North.

Iyan Zazzau and Deputy Chairman, BOT (SABMF), Munnir Jafaru, has lauded the pivotal role played by Dr. Babangida Aliyu in the formation and growth of the Foundation.

Jafaru recalled their years of working closely together, noting that their shared commitment to leadership and northern development ultimately gave birth to the establishment of SABMF.

He described Aliyu as a founding father of the foundation and an instrumental force behind its vision and direction.

Jafaru wished the “Chief Servant” good health and many more decades of impactful service, expressing optimism that his leadership contributions would continue to shape the organisation for another 70 years and beyond.

Former Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada (rtd.), who also spoke at the event, praised Aliyu as a sincere, hardworking and super intelligent leader who always created an environment for people around him to thrive.

He wished him, “another 70 years in good health and Allah’s guidance.”

Other well wishers included Hon. Timothy Anjide from Nasarawa State and members of the Board of Trustees, who described the celebrant as a fair, principled and visionary leader. They highlighted his humility, humour and unwavering commitment to service.

Hajiya Rabi Saulawa of Jam’iyar Matan Arewa commended Aliyu’s courage and honesty, noting that the North “needs voices like his to keep us in line and ensure we get things right.”

Nairaland GeneralEnd Insecurity In North Now, Jam'iyyar Matan Arewa Tasks FG by Jatuski(op): 7:38pm On Nov 25, 2025
*Demands rescue of all in bandits den

Jam'iyyar Matan Arewa, an umbrella body of Northern Nigerian Women has called on the Federal Government to put every machinery in motion towards securing the release of abducted schoolgirls and all victims in captivity of insurgents and bandits.

This is just as the foremost women body with presence in 19 Northern States and beyond, frowned at resurgence of banditry, kidnapping and mass killing by terrorists which it said could roll back every gain made in the present democratic dispensation, if left unchecked.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna Chairperson Board of Trustees (BOT), Jam'iyyar Matan Arewa Pamela Sadauki described the spate of terrorist attacks on several communities in the north where women, children and men had been abducted, describing the situation as alarming, frightening, worrisome and above all, capable of sliding Nigeria into the likes of Somalia, Libya and other war-torn countries if allowed to continue.

"Just days ago, armed bandits stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, abducting 25 innocent schoolgirls and killing a staff member in cold blood.

"Barely four days later, on the 21 November 2025, another devastating raid targeted St. Mary Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Niger State where over 300 students and a dozen teachers were forcibly taken from hostels.

"These are only the most prominent incidents in a relentless pattern that has also seen scores of travellers, farmers and villagers abducted or killed in states such as; Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kaduna, Plateau and Benue.

"The abduction of these young schoolgirls in Kebbi State is particularly worrisome because it reminds us of the Chibok girls' tragedy more than a decade ago and underscores how vulnerable our children remain," Sadauki stated.

While disapproving any foreign military intervention in the country, the group welcomed any intelligence-sharing and military collaboration with friendly external security players as long as it was done in terms and conditions spelt out by Nigeria.

Sadauki warned against giving the security situation a religious, ethnic or political coloration, saying the terrorists represent no ethnicity, nor faith.

While paying glowing tributes to members of armed forces, many of whom she said had paid the supreme price for keeping Nigerians safe, Sadauki urged governments at all levels to provide material and equipment support for the military to effectively combat insurgency and banditry.

PoliticsOshiomhole Represents Noise, Propaganda, Bruising Legacy, Atiku Says by Jatuski(op): 2:09pm On Nov 25, 2025
A Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, has asked the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Adams Oshiomhole, to always check the mirror before he speaks in public.

The lawmaker representing Edo North, had on Monday, said that Atiku Abubakar lacks the capacity to govern Nigeria.

Oshiomhole argued that Atiku’s inability to stabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) disqualifies him from claiming he can fix the country.

Responding through a statement on Tuesday,, Phrank Shaibu described Adams Oshiomhole’s attempt to question Atiku Abubakar’s capacity as "nothing more than a tired distraction from the monumental failures of the APC—the very party he helped foist on Nigeria and the same party that has driven the country to its worst state in decades."

According to Shaibu, If Oshiomhole seeks the man who “fixed a party” into a personal empire, he needs only look at the godfather he serves.

Atiku’s aide added that under the APC, party supremacy died, dissent was criminalised, and institutions of state became partisan weapons. "That is the only kind of “fixing” Oshiomhole understands."

While declaring that Nigerians actually know the truth from the fallacy of Oshiomhole, the statement said: "Atiku Abubakar represents vision, experience, and capacity. Oshiomhole represents noise, propaganda, and the bruising legacy of a party that betrayed the hopes of millions.

"Atiku Abubakar was Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, not the national chairman of the PDP, and certainly not the sole administrator of a political institution with thousands of independent leaders across the country. Leadership in a democratic party is not dictatorship. The PDP, unlike the APC, was not a private estate controlled from Bourdillon, where one individual tele-guides decisions and stifles internal democracy.

"Atiku’s record speaks for itself:

"He rebuilt the economy as chairman of the National Economic Council.

"He championed reforms that attracted investment and strengthened the private sector.

"He has never been President, yet his development blueprint remains the most coherent Nigeria has seen in decades.

"The real question is this: If the APC could not fix Nigeria after eight wasted years and nearly three years of Tinubu, what moral authority does Oshiomhole have to comment on leadership?"

Nairaland GeneralChristian Media Forum Frowns At Escalating Kidnapping Of Students Across Nigeria by Jatuski(op): 2:44pm On Nov 22, 2025
*Tasks govt on proactive solution to insecurity

The Christian Media Forum (CMF) has expressed deep concerns over the escalating kidnappings of schoolchildren across northern Nigeria.

Recent weeks have seen a surge in abductions, a trend that has shaken communities and drawn national attention.

First, gunmen seized a group of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, an incident that sparked widespread outrage and calls for action

Just days later, armed attackers stormed St Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State, abducting hundreds of pupils and teachers.

The Forum stresses that such atrocities must not become the new normal and must be halted immediately.

Compounding the crisis, the federal government has ordered the closure of forty Unity schools, a move the Forum views as evidence that the assault on education extends beyond the kidnappings themselves.

This wave of school closures signals a broader threat to the nation’s future, undermining access to learning for countless children.

The statement from the Christian Media Forum is signed by its National President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and National Secretary, Andrew Ibrahim Mshelia, dated Saturday November 22, tasked the government to rise up to its responsibility.

Both leaders urged all relevant stakeholders to move beyond rhetorics and translate concerns into concrete action.

They also caledl on security agencies to pursue not only the terrorists, but also those who finance and sponsor these crimes, ensuring that all parties face the full weight of the law.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his capacity as Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces, was urged to rise to the occasion and confront the evil that threatens the country’s stability.

The forum believes that decisive leadership from the presidency is essential to restore confidence and protect citizens.

Consequently, the Christian Media Forum appealed to the Federal Government to seek both domestic and international assistance in tackling the rising insecurity, particularly in the northern regions.

"A coordinated response, involving military, intelligence, and community engagement, is seen as vital to dismantle the networks behind these attacks," the statement said.

The forum said that it remains committed to advocating for the safe return of all abducted children and to supporting measures that safeguard Nigeria’s educational institutions.

It called on all Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity, to stand together in solidarity against violence and to work towards a peaceful, secure future for the nation.

PoliticsGovernor Alia Clarifies Comments Made Over Benue Killings by Jatuski(op): 7:29pm On Nov 21, 2025
Benue State Government has set the record straight regarding Governor Hyacinth Iormen Alia's recent comment on the killings in the state, saying the governor "never denied the killings in Benue nor did he make light of the effect of these senseless violence unleashed on hapless citizens."

In a statement released on Friday by the Commissioner for Information & Orientation, Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, said it is worrisome that mischief makers were deliberately misrepresenting the the Governor comments.

According to him, Governor Alia admitted the security challenges in Benue and stressed that existing facts do not show a pattern of faith/ethnicity based targeting of groups.

"To set the record straight, His Excellency Governor Hyacinth Iormen Alia never denied the killings in Benue nor did he make light of the effect of these senseless violence unleashed on hapless citizens.

"He identified killer bandits, terrorists as the pepetrators of these acts and advised against allowing such individuals hide behind religion in any guise. It is worrisome that mischief makers are deliberately misrepresenting the the Governor comments.

"In another video, also in wide circulation, the governor had explained that the activities of the killer terrorists were well coordinated and are such plans were 'followed religiously'. (This means their plans were followed meticulously)."

Benue government revealed that Governor Alia had intensified collaboration with security agencies to strengthen response capacity; supported displaced communities with relief and resettlement efforts; advocated at National and international levels for enhanced security presence; and initiated long-term strategies to tackle the root causes of violence in Benue.

"His Excellency continues to mourn with the bereaved, visit affected areas, and mobilize all levers of government to restore peace. The Administration fully acknowledges the trauma of communities bearing the brunt of these attacks, and remains committed to protecting every life—without bias and without exception.

"We therefore urge the public to interpret the Governor’s comments in the broader context of his unwavering dedication to securing Benue State. This Government stands firmly with the people and will not relent until the cycle of violence is brought to a complete end."

The statement appreciated the concerns expressed by citizens, stakeholders, and partners who remain committed to peace, justice, and the well-being of Benue people.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the Governor’s statement was neither an attempt to downplay the painful realities on ground nor a dismissal of the grief of families who have lost their loved ones. His Excellency is fully aware of the weight of every life lost in Benue State, and he continues to treat the security challenges confronting the State with the urgency and seriousness they demand.

"It is important to emphasize that the Governor’s clarification—that the killings should not be defined or framed purely along religious lines—was made in the interest of accurate reporting, responsible public discourse, and effective response. Misdiagnosing the nature of the crisis may hinder the multi-sectoral solutions already being implemented. What His Excellency sought to communicate is that the conflict is complex, involving criminality, land-use tensions, and targeted acts of violence that require strategic, intelligence-driven interventions beyond religious categorization."

PropertiesDeveloper: Kuchibedna Residents Got Compensation 3 Times, Still Refused To Leave by Jatuski(op): 3:00pm On Nov 20, 2025
Winning Clause Nig. Ltd. has said that residents of the Kuchibedna community in Kafe District received compensation three times but refused to vacate the land, forcing the government to carry out enforcement.

The company’s lawyer, O. Marx Ikongbeh, said during the operation that the firm was allocated Plot 67 in 2011 and compensated the settlers after an agreement for relocation. He said the payments were made in 2011, 2015 and 2016.

He stated that despite the payments, the natives sued the company, but a 2016 FCT High Court judgment declared them trespassers. He added that the community later expanded and sold parts of the land to outsiders.

According to him, the 2021 High Court judgment and a February 2025 Court of Appeal ruling both upheld the company’s ownership and ordered the FCT Minister to hand over the land.

Ikongbeh said the firm even paid extra money demanded for traditional rites, witnessed by the Sa’peyi of Garki, yet the community refused to move.

He added that the illegal settlement had also encroached into the area marked for Ring Road 3.

“Despite all these payments, the community refused to leave and instead expanded, selling land to non-natives who built without any FCTA approval,” he lamented.

He added that all compensation was based on proper valuation of structures, farms and crops by relevant agencies, noting further that the illegal settlement had also extended into the alignment of Ring Road 3 in the district.

‎ You are credited with championing the formation of the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council. What informed its creation, especially with the 2027 elections drawing nearer?

‎ Girei : The formation of the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council is one of the important recommendations of Sen. Mana’s Reconciliation Committee which I was privileged to serve as a member. The committee was set up by the APC leader in Adamawa State and the national leadership of APC in Abuja. The recommendation for the council along with others was aimed at promoting order, fairness, and internal harmony within our party as we approach another election cycle. The committee’s findings was that APC lost the elections in 2019 and 2023 due mainly to disagreement among its party members.

‎As elders, leaders of thought, and stakeholders, including the leader of the party, we collectively recognized the need to create a structure that further strengthens and reinforces unity, discipline, cohesion, and inclusiveness in the APC.

‎These ideals cannot be achieved without mechanisms that give every aspirant, regardless of background or affiliation, an equal opportunity to participate in party congresses and primaries.

‎It was on this basis that we deemed it necessary to establish the council as an umbrella body that listens, guides, reconciles, and ensures that everyone is carried along. Following our earlier reconciliation efforts, which recorded remarkable success, we felt it was time to consolidate the gains by putting in place a more comprehensive platform that will institutionalize harmony and inclusiveness.

‎On the 6th of November 2025, the convener of the council organized a historic maiden meeting of the steering committee to midwife what is now the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council.

‎As I said, the meeting was chaired by the convener, a highly respected, experienced and cosmopolitan leader whose commitment to the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and success of the APC in Adamawa State in line with the broader vision of our leader, gave birth to the Elders Council. As a follow up to that meeting, the convener organized another meeting on Saturday which was attended by over 90 percent of the council’s membership. The council is right now on track and will not leave any stone unturned in achieving its core mandates.

‎The noble idea behind the establishment of the council, as I said earlier, stems from the recommendations of the APC Reconciliation Committee in Adamawa State.

‎Following the success of the committee in reuniting our members, our leader, directed the convener and other notable elders to lead the council and deploy their wealth of experience to ensure that APC succeeds in Adamawa State. At the meeting, we agreed that the secretariat would develop a clear roadmap to achieve the objectives discussed.

‎Some critical concerns including issues of legitimacy, operational modalities, and inclusive representation will be handled jointly by the party’s leadership and the Elders Council. There was a strong consensus that the council is fully committed to deliver majority votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and ensure victory for all APC candidates across Adamawa State.

‎During the meeting, the convener also directed the committee to nominate credible persons with unimpeachable integrity who are not contesting any offices in 2027, taking into account gender, geographical spread and socio-cultural diversity.

‎ Some observers claim the council was formed to counter the influence of the party leader in Adamawa State and prevent him from supporting and anointing a preferred aspirant. How do you respond to this?

‎ Girei: I want to say with all sense of duty that such assumptions are entirely unfounded. They appear to come from the opposition, mischief makers, or from misconceptions or perhaps the anxiety of a few individuals who may be uncomfortable with transparent, rule-based processes which remain the cornerstone of credible democracies worldwide.

‎In reality, the contrary is true: our leader played a pivotal role by blessing the formation of the council. Not only did he support the idea wholeheartedly, but he also contributed significantly to the identification of prominent members who now constitute the council.

‎The suggestion that the council was formed to diminish his influence is, therefore, a misunderstanding of both the intent and the process. Our respected brother and leader is fully aware of each step we are taking, has given his blessings, and remains an integral part of the effort to reposition the party. Any claims to the contrary do not reflect the true situation on ground.

‎ It is also alleged that you are sponsoring one ‘Abbah Kawu’ to challenge a purported candidate associated with the leader of APC in Adamawa. What is your take on this?

‎ Girei: I must say, with all due respect, that this assertion appears to be based on misinformation. I am not aware of the existence of any person with an iota of political significance by that name within our structures or within the wider political space in Adamawa State. That is the main reason why I did not want to dignify such fake news makers with any response. Silence is the best answer to such mischief makers.

‎When such reports surfaced, several colleagues and associates across the country contacted me to seek clarification, as they were unfamiliar with the name in question. I informed them, just as I am stating now, that I do not know the individual and have no association with any such political aspiration.

‎It would be impractical and indeed impossible for anyone to support an aspirant who does not exist within the political landscape of the state. This reinforces the fact that the report was merely speculative and not grounded in facts and reality.

‎ Nigeria has recently witnessed high-profile defections from the PDP and other parties to the APC. Some believe the APC is attempting to turn the country into a one-party state. What is your perspective?

‎ Girei : The recent wave of defections to the APC is largely due to internal challenges within some opposition parties, ranging from leadership disputes to concerns about inclusiveness and direction. Many of those crossing over have cited these issues openly.

‎A few days before the PDP’s convention, for instance, there were visible signs of division, with factions contesting control of the national secretariat. Legal contestations were ongoing, raising uncertainties about the convention itself.

‎Beyond this, Nigerians are responding positively to the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which are gradually yielding tangible results in terms of economic recovery and institutional reforms. These developments have strengthened public confidence in the APC and encouraged many political leaders to identify with the party.

‎The idea that the APC is attempting to create a one-party state does not reflect the reality. What we are witnessing is simply the natural political response to effective governance and internal stability. Nigerians are embracing the party out of conviction, not the other way round.

PoliticsArewa Youth Forum Hails Appointment Of Mrs. Binta Adamu Bello As NAPTIP, DG by Jatuski(op): 2:03pm On Nov 16, 2025
*Describes her as best for the job

The Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) has described the appointment of Mrs. Binta L. Adamu Bello as the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as a masterstroke by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Mrs. Bello, a seasoned administrator with a wealth of experience in public service, has an impressive track record of delivering results in various capacities, including her tenure as Federal Permanent Secretary in several Ministries.

A statement signed by the National President of AYF, said, "Mrs. Bello's appointment is a testament to President Tinubu's commitment to meritocracy and good governance.

"She is the best candidate for the job, and we are confident that she will bring a fresh perspective and a strong commitment to the Agency.

"We have no doubt that Mrs. Bello will be a game-changer at NAPTIP," the statement added.

"Her experience in social development, women's affairs, and poverty alleviation makes her the ideal person to tackle the scourge of human trafficking in Nigeria.

"We also take this opportunity to call on women from Northern Nigeria to use Mrs. Bello as a role model and give her all the necessary support that will make her deliver on the mandate of her office, as she becomes a beacon of hope and inspiration for young women from the region," the statement said.

The AYF assured Mrs. Bello of its full support and cooperation as she assumes her new role, expressing confidence that under her leadership, NAPTIP will be revitalized and empowered to effectively combat human trafficking and protect the rights of vulnerable Nigerians.

PoliticsTinubu’s Silence Over Wike Undermines Discipline, Fuels Impunity - Timi Frank by Jatuski(op): 9:53am On Nov 13, 2025
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has condemned the recent altercation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a Naval officer in Abuja, describing it as a shameful reflection of Nigeria’s decaying governance culture and a dangerous signal for the nation’s democracy.

Frank said the incident, where a senior minister was captured publicly berating a uniformed officer during an enforcement exercise, was not just an act of poor judgment but a manifestation of the arrogance and moral decline that continue to define the Tinubu administration.

“This unfortunate episode goes beyond one man’s temperament. It represents a deeper rot in our leadership culture, one where power is exercised without restraint, and where political loyalty now outweighs accountability,” he said.

Frank noted that Wike’s conduct has consistently shown a disregard for due process, open hostility toward dissent, and a pattern of imperious behaviour unbecoming of a public officer.

“Since assuming office, Wike has carried on as though the FCT were his personal fiefdom. His abrasive style of governance, marked by disregard for court orders and contempt for opposition voices, makes a mockery of public service,” he added.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, expressed deep concern over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued silence on the matter, warning that failure to discipline the minister would send a dangerous message that certain figures within government are “above the law.”

“President Tinubu’s refusal to publicly caution or reprimand Wike has emboldened impunity and reinforced the perception that political expediency comes before good governance.

“It tells Nigerians that loyalty to the President is more important than loyalty to the country,” Frank said.

He described the Naval officer’s calm and professional conduct as exemplary, urging the Nigerian Armed Forces and the public to commend the officer’s discipline and restraint.

“The Naval officer’s composure in the face of provocation reflects the highest ideals of service, patriotism, and respect for uniform.

“In any decent society, such conduct would earn him commendation, perhaps even national honours,” Frank stated.

He lamented that the minister’s outburst and the President’s silence have once again embarrassed Nigeria before the international community.

“Incidents like this reinforce the unfortunate perception once voiced by U.S. President Donald Trump, who described Nigeria as a ‘disgraced country.’

“While Trump’s rhetoric was harsh, this kind of leadership failure gives weight to that label,” he said.

Frank warned that unchecked arrogance and impunity at the top threaten Nigeria’s democracy and further erode public trust in government institutions.

“A democracy cannot thrive where arrogance is rewarded and accountability ignored.

“When ministers act with impunity and the President looks away, it weakens the moral fabric of governance and invites chaos,” he cautioned.

He called on President Tinubu to take decisive action by publicly reprimanding Wike and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to discipline, humility, and respect for institutions.

“Authority must come with humility; enforcement must come with respect. Leadership is not intimidation.

“Nigeria stands at a moral crossroads between arrogance and accountability. The President’s silence cannot endure,” he said:

Nairaland GeneralBenue Lawmaker Cries Out Over Unabated Herdsmen Killings In Constituency by Jatuski(op): 4:18pm On Nov 12, 2025
The lawmaker representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Blessing Onuh, has raised alarm over renewed killings, kidnappings, and destruction of farmlands by suspected herders in her constituency, describing the situation as a national emergency that demands urgent federal intervention.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, the visibly distraught two-term legislator, said she has grown weary of repeatedly moving motions on insecurity without seeing lasting results.

“I am really pained and frustrated. How can I continue to move motions on insecurity without sustained response? Whenever I cry, they respond, but soon they retreat and then more gruesome attacks occur,” she lamented.

Onuh disclosed that she spends a significant portion of her resources paying medical bills and funeral expenses of victims of the attacks, which she described as relentless and worsening.

The lawmaker cited multiple recent incidents to highlight the deteriorating security situation.

According to her, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, four persons were abducted in Asa village, Otukpo Local Government Area.

Two days later, on Tuesday, November 11, eleven more were kidnapped in Akpegede village.

She further revealed that the attackers operate openly from camps within Otukpo, with security agencies are fully aware of their presence.

“The most painful aspect is that the camp of these criminals is in Otukpo. All the security agencies are aware of it. They are there in their numbers with arms and ammunition,” she said.

Providing a chilling account of a recent massacre, Onuh narrated that on November 3, three villagers Pastor Simon Nkpachi, Inalegwu, and John Ejeh Ijegwa were declared missing after heading to their farms.

Later that day, Pastor Nkpachi’s body was found with machete wounds, while Inalegwu’s body was discovered the following day.

Before the community could recover from the shock, she said, the attackers struck again on November 4, killing four more residents Stephen Ajeibi, Titus Ejeh (a blind man), Ekoja Gabriel, and Samuel Peter and burning several houses, food barns, and farmlands.

“Up till now, the body of John Ejeh Ijegwa, popularly known as Dealer and an APC community leader, is still missing. Fear has not allowed anyone to enter the bush to search for his body,” she said.

In all, seven people were killed, though only six bodies have been recovered and deposited at the Federal University of Health Sciences Hospital, Otukpo mortuary, awaiting burial on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Onuh appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the new Service Chiefs and other security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and restore peace to the affected communities.

“The killings in my constituency have reached an outrageous level. Every day, we witness the senseless murder of innocent people, and tragically, it is beginning to feel as though it is normal,” she said.

She condemned what she described as “cosmetic responses” by local and state officials, who issue statements after each attack but fail to follow through with concrete actions.

“Are these killers above the law? Why is it so difficult to apprehend them and restore peace so our people can sleep with their two eyes closed?” she queried.

The lawmaker also warned that the persistent violence has driven farmers from their lands, heightening food insecurity in the region.

While urging youths in the affected communities to shun reprisal attacks, Onuh assured her constituents of continued engagement with political leaders and security agencies to bring lasting peace.

“I will engage with political stakeholders and security heads to ensure these atrocities come to an end. Our people deserve to live in peace,” she pledged.

Nairaland GeneralAso Radio/tv Denies Owing Workers Salaries by Jatuski(op): 11:40am On Nov 10, 2025
The management of Aso Radio/Television has debunked reports suggesting that its workers are being owed salaries.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the acting General Manager, Ajibola Akinwumi, made available to newsmen on Monday November 10, 2025.

"We are constrained to clarify a media report credited to an on-line publication otherwise known as "SAHARA REPORTERS" alleging that the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesome Wike owed salaries of workers of the Abuja Broadcasting Corporation and neglected the organization," it said.

According to the disclaimer titled, "FCT MINISTER, BARR. WIKE CARES TO UPLIFT ASORADIO/TELEVISION" the GM explained that it is pertinent to state that nothing in the allegations could be further from the truth in every material particular..

"The allegations are incorrect, unfair and subjective," it added.

The statement said that to put the records straight, the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the able leadership of Barrister Nyesome Wike has paid the salaries of PENSIONABLE staff of ABC fully and up to date.(October, 2025).

"Also there are available records with verifiable evidence that the Administration is making efforts towards uplifting the status of the organization.

"It is noteworthy to point out that the Honourable Minister Wike has graciously approved the REGULARIZATION of the organisation's AD -HOC staff which confers them with a pensionable status in the organization.

"In as much as ASO RADIO/TV upholds the role of Investigative Journalism which is to unravel hidden facts and figures about government business in order to make those in government accountable for their deed or misdeed, it is therefore equally expedient to understand that the constitution of the country guarantees the rights of individuals and organizations to a fair hearing and principle of privacy," the statement pointed out.

It explained that it could be deduced from the above that the allegations of SAHARA REPORTERS are baseless, faulty and a calculated and desperate attempt to paint the Honourable Minister Wike in a bad light.

"What is more worrisome is the fact that your Reports ignored all known ethics of Journalism especially the rules of fairness and balanced reporting to the extent of mentioning my name without a courtesy of engaging me in conversations, or correspondences in order to get my own side of the story. So unfortunate! That particular Contents in your platform relating to ABC are nothing short of an ethical breach to say the least.

"Please, let it be understandable henceforth that Abuja Broadcasting Corporation runs an open administration and operates on a 24- hour basis on both Radio and Television.

"Most importantly, journalists across the world have all agreed that disinformation or fake news is not a viable option to contribute to nation building.

"Abuja residents have continued to praise the Minister Wike for his commitment to infrastructure development, describing him as a focused, transformative leader who keeps promises .

"Let's join hands with him to accomplish the common good," it stressed.

PoliticsFUOYE Gets New Vice Chancellor by Jatuski(op): 9:33pm On Nov 06, 2025
The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has gotten a new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole.

The university’s Governing Council made the appointment after a meeting session at the National Open University of Nigeria main campus in Abuja on Thursday.

Chairman, Governing Council of FUOYE, Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) announced Ogunwale as the 5th substantive Vice-chancellor of the University after a thorough and rigorous selection exercise that was fully digitalized.

Ogunwole, a professor of Soil Science, who until his appointment is the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategic Partnership, Research, Innovation and Linkages of FUOYE, would take over from the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, on 11th February, 2026.

According to Ndoma-Egba, the tenure of the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, who he noted had done well and taken the university to new heights, “is expiring on the 10th of February, 2026, adding that Ogunwole remains the Vice Chancellor designate until the 11th of February, 2026 when he formally takes over.”

The FUOYE Vice-Chancellor defeated over 64 other candidates who applied for the plum job, with two expatriates joining in the race.

Ndoma-Egba further said: “The exercise that has resulted in the appointment, was the first fully digitalized online exercise in the Nigerian University system.

"The process was fully digitalised. The applications were launched online, and the assessments were done by the system. However, to ensure transparency and accuracy, we still carried out a manual review. For instance, if the system showed that an applicant had two fellowships, we verified manually to confirm the claim.

“We started the process with an announcement in February 2025 to commence the succession programme for a new Vice-Chancellor. By law, we are required to advertise the position in major newspapers for six weeks, and that was strictly followed.

“Every line of the advertisement was debated and approved by the council before publication. At the end of the six weeks, we received 64 online applications.

“When we had the final six names, we immediately contacted the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ekiti for the screening of the shortlisted candidates. After a very thorough exercise, the Council approved the most suitable and qualified candidate.

“We emerged from the process with Professor Ogunwole Joshua Olalekan as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti,” he said.

Ndoma-Egba also disclosed that the Council among other things, approved the appointments of university librarian, the director of health services for the university, the director of works and services and the director physical planning for the university.

Ogunwole obtained his first, second, and third degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Between 1990 and 1992, he served as Manager of Yula Farms, Kaduna. He later joined the Department of Crop Production and Protection at the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, where he taught between December 2013 and March 2016, and also served as Director of University Advancement and Linkages.

The Vice-Chancellor designate is a distinguished Soil Scientist with close to 30 years of experience in teaching, research and community service, having served across institutions, including Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU), Adamawa State University, Mubi (ADSU), Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and Bowen University, Iwo, where he had made significant contributions as both an educator and administrator.
