There's almost no doubt flex has very nice gui libraries,en skins,its mature as it has been around fr 5years.its action script is also object oriented as it comes wit apis. I'm a java swing programmr nt wanting to go outside the circle. The farthest I wil go to scripting gui's is JavaFx on json. Besides that,java is everytyn to me.

U shld be jailed for asking such question. U didn't even point out the technology u implored, if it worked or not, please go and read wikipedia on how to ask questions,or this thread be rather closed.its meaningless

U need computer science education,
Data structures,operation research,logic en philosophy,digital electronics,law of engineers en computer scientist,and probably sme management certifications like nim or project management. These r sme of d courses I went through,especially the last one “law of scientist“ in my finals,had to do with creating software rights and licensing as a vendor. So the education u get in school is irreplaceable,it wil streamline for the future business you create and relationship wit people,besides that,I'm a self taught java developer. I program java to advanced.enterprise edition en javaee6,it took quite a while,bout 6 years,I run my business as a software vendor,I hv a company,partners,I hv a banking solution FishNet, for remote and local application clients.e.t.c so please I would implore u to get sme education.

The persistence technology you are using is Obsolete.Please go and readUp about Java Persistence API.So you dnt have to go through the pain of logging into the database with the DriverManager class,in Jpa ,the persistence.xml has the persistence unit configured with the entity classes.What ide are you using to develop? JPA has simplified database applications by persisting entity Objects

Using flex is totally learning a new language.although I love their look and feel.I'm not sure I want to go outside the Java Circle.
