I personally may not agree with child bride.
Salam Alykun. I still don't get the meaning of this "child thing" No one would give out a woman who has not started her menses out in marriage. Some girls start their period at age 14 or 15 years. Can girls who fall into this category be called "child (ren|)"

I will not marry any woman under 18
Well, maybe your opinion. Sir, in the north here where i am currently, a 15yr old girl is fit and ready for marriage. They are beautiful, and can make babies. I have a friend here who is married to a sudanese woman. He married her at age 15 and now they have 3 boys. She's 21yrs old now and still looking very very beautiful. She's big that you would hardly tell her age.

Again one thing i v noticed here is that in Nigeria, its only in the northern part you see a woman of 40yrs old and her first son or daughter is almost 23yrs. You see them gisting and walking shoulder to shoulder on the streets. I personally love that kind of thing. Most of my pals here that are mybe my age mate or some younger than me are already fathers or mothers. They are still attending school and Insha Allah, they have no problems.

Bottom line, I can marry a 15yr old girl grin. Maybe location also matters because a 14yr old girl here is almost like 23yrs in our own place. . . i mean interms of maturity, size and islamic knowledge.

Allah knows best

lets make one thing clear, am not trying to diss anybody in here, but here is the point, most of mode nine's supporters in nigeria don't know what the hell he raps about, ruggedman on the other hand connects in broken english so i think he has more fans
this is the most foolish statement i v never heared. so someone can not rap in correct queens english and still connect to an average nigerian. u don mental i swear. so for u to connect to nigerians now, u must rap in pigin. Tupac didnt rap in pigin, yet nigerians feel am. Akon didnt sing in pigin, yet nigerians feel am. my guy u no get point abeg. Modenine spits fire!!!!! and to go be the glory, we understand am.

ProgrammingThunder Strike The CEO Of Sun Microsystems If JavaFX Fails! by javalove(op): 1:02pm On Nov 25, 2008
I have never been this confused. What the hell is wrong with Sun? Why build a house and when its time to furnish it, abandon it and build another because the one you built is not fine? Have you furnished it yet?

The funding of SwingX (swinglabs) have been stopped. Na this one even pain me pass. I for one has always looked forward to a day when the SwingX components would replace the current swing components. I thought they were the new direction the sun would set. But for where. there have not been much developments on the Core swing library for ages. Bug fixes abandoned. Performance and other pressing issues affecting java desktop were also abandoned. Most of the development coming into the java desktop have been from the developer community interms of component development, work arounds and all. Good components to enhance our applications are commercial. I rather switch language than purchase components for personal projects. The closest components to commercial components have been swingx components and now we would be attending its funeral soonest.

Well to all the developers of SwingX, thanks alot. Wish you good luck. I used SwingX for over 3 years and could still use it when i need to. I enjoyed using JXTable, JXList, JXErrorPane and so on,

After the disappointment of java3d being abandoned, beans binding left in a pre-alpha state in my opinion what will be next ?

Its no longer news that JavaFX is the next big thing in Java. Being a desktop person, I have tried out its desktop part and its lovely. The problems of SUN has never been creating powerful stuffs. Nah, its the marketing. Take a look at applets. Java Applet, IMHO, is the most powerful internet technology in RIA deployment. (I hate the term RIA, but let me just use it to carry everyone along), and lots of improvements have been made on it to improve its performance, but no one knows. The stigma of "Applets are slow","Applets would crash ur browser" and all that still exists. Same for the desktop.

Here are the words of a JavaFX tester

I have already tried to play with beta build JavaFX. I was one of the voluntary "tested subjects" at Sun's Usability test lab in Prague. As experienced Swing programmer I can say that I didn't like this technology at all. Very nifty demos (flying transparent shapes, moving pictures, ), but helpfulness for my download manager, text editor? Zero.
Here are the words of a Techy

Java applets can actually do most of these things if they are signed and the user agrees to allow the applet access to their filesystem. Unfortunately, Java applets don't actually work, and after 11 years of not working, I'm not expecting that to change. Facebook has a nice image uploader applet that lets you browse your photos locally and then scales them before uploading to make the whole thing go fast. The only problem, other than the annoying "do you want to trust this applet" prompt, is that it crashed my browser the second time I tried it.

While i disagee with him on the browser crashing stuff, the most annoying part of the whole thing is that he's right.  shocked

So the next thing for SUN to do is to abandon what developers have trusted for years, the only truly cross platform application development tool. Well, you might want to argue that they didnt use the word abandon but tell me a noticeable improvement to Java since tiger. Asides TableSorter added to JTable, Nimbus LF and the Consumer JRE (1.6 update N). All the releases have been JavaFX this, JavaFX that.

Well, lets just hope the new technology survives the battle against Silverlight, Flash and AJAX. I pray it does because if it doesnt walahi, thunder should strike the CEO (word of mouth  grin grin grin). JavaFX is far more powerful than all the rest, but the Companies in question, Microsoft and Adobe have a berra marketing strategy to win the heart of developers.

Well if you good enough to write components, you cud get ur hands on the swingx codes https://swingx.dev.java.net/source/browse/swingx and do ur thing. For collaboratioonw with other java programmers visit www.naijadukes.net and lets see what we can do on our own. I love to develop components.

Bottom line, Technologies die, new technologies are born, people move to other companies, old prejudices refuse to die and some decisions are forced on technical people. The customers, of course, couldn’t care less about all this.

don't get me wrong oooo, its still Java all the way!!!

Correct me in areas i'm wrong please. Ur honest contributions are welcomed.

Shame on you and shame on the islamic community if this is the sort of thing they condone and practice.

I would not prefer my daughter to be engaging in any of the above you cited. In fact, at that age I would rather she be in school, learning about the world and maturing into an independent individual so that SHE CAN MAKE DECISIONS for herself about who she would like to marry.

Are you suggesting that these parents marry off their children at such young ages because there is nothing else but marriage and children for them in their communities? What happen to schooling and learning about the world?
Shame on you. Her education would not in anyway be affected. If you really wantIt depends on you and your understanding. Look I'm currently in the nothern part of Nigeria (Adamawa State) and its the practice here. Infact I love it so much. Go to their universities, more than 70% of their 100 level students are married. Some of tnem have kid(s) and are still attending school. Another question for you is dont you think your daughter standa a berra chance of not engaging in fornication is she be married at that age. There are many instances where students have been impregnated while in school. There also many instances where gals are used and dumped in this same schools, engaging in abortions and all sorts. Man, look here, if you are sincere with urself, you know the best way to prevent evil is to block all its openings.

There are people who got married at 16, even 15 yrs and are graduates now. If you dont believe, come to the north and see them. Educated girls who can stand their conterparts who have gone through series of abortions, fornications and all that.

Stop being myopic. I know its the society you live that formed ur orientation. Not xtianity. Not Islam. Its ur society and maybe the kinda life u live urself.

Answer this:

Early marriage is bad, but early motherhood from unknowns would surely be applauded by you right?

Its berra for my daughter to get married to her husband at 15 and have a baby for him, than for some opportunists who just wanna hit and run.

Finally, its a shame on you that you didnt define who a child is, and tell the world whem someone seizes to be a child. olodo oshi

@huxley

Define the term "child" and tell me when someone seizes to be a child.

If you had a daughter who is 15yrs old, would you be happy if boys were sleeping with her at every available opportunity or you prefer she be married?

If you had a daughter who is 15yrs, there would be nothing wrong if men round her over and over but dont you think she be married to save your shame?

If you had a daughter age 15, do u prefer her being deflowered by unknowns or her husband?

If you had a daughter age 15, would you be happy if she had her child(ren) in ur house or the house of her husband.

For every Islamic law you read about or hear of, you need to think deeply about it. Islam is not a religion that must conform to standards set by men or is all out to make sense to men.

When something is condemned in Islam, the laws would not tell you not to do it, or not to do it too much. Guess what? WE ARE TOLD NOT TO MOVE NEAR EVIL!!!!!!

So, java blowing off Rugged is like saying Achebe is whack because u "think" u're feeling Soyinka. Good news tho, u've the right to ur opinion even if it doesn't count.

But seriously now, Rugged scores mo in dynamism 4 me. He's as plain as he is blunt; as flexible as he is taut.

Mode9 is a seeker for 1 thing - new routes to the divinity of instrumental poetry. He is flows, and that is no typo; I mean, he is flows in himself.
