pweetyz: i just told her and she said shez already done that..she was told that it can't be changed..i.e..jamb does not offer any changes..i guess we'd just opt for the age declaration ish
I thought as much, tell her to get the affidavit before clearance starts and she should try as much as possible to start her clearance on the first day of clearance. This correction is a tedious process, so the earlier she starts the better for her.

Tessy10: isn't it possible 4 one to use d L.G.A age declaration in place of d birth cert.?
No. It has to be from a law court.

pweetyz: ..I'm lost..i don't understand a thing not to talk of explaining it to her..okay lemme explain better..
her date of birth is the same on her waec and date of birth cert..but it differs in her jamb and putme since same data was used..so the question is..how can she correct her jamb's date of birth to make it correspond to the ones on their waec and birth cert..thanks
Well, one way to get it resolved is what someone has just said, go to JAMB and get it rectified but i don't know if that can be done or how it can be done. Now let me explain better, If the Date she used on her Jamb is not much different from the one on her Waec, she should go to a law court and swear an Affidavit of Age Declaration declaring that the date on her Waec is her correct date of birth. When clearance starts in school she would then be asked to fill a 'correction form'. Her date of birth would now be altered to reflect the one her Waec, like i said the process is quite tedious. Hope you are now clear?

pweetyz: Please you guys should help a pal out..
a friend of mine has a problem with her date of birth..the date of birth on her jamb does not tally with the one on her waec and other certificates
please is there any way she can correct this
It depends, what is the date of birth on her Waec and that on her Jamb? If the difference is not much she should go and swear an affidavit of age declaration bearing the date on her Waec. When clearance starts she would be asked to fill a correction form to reflect the date on her Waec. This process is quite tedious but would resolve it. If the difference is too much her admission might be revoked, lets hope it doesn't come to that.

the 2013 set spoilt the school completely..imagine ss3 students tuck in to dinning..we stopped that in our set sha..buh school was no longer sweet..i used to look up to owning school in ss1 cos of wah ah wz seein buh in ss2..it was just 4 d freedom..

mrs inoma is ever so cool and beautiful..although she neva taught me i still love her gentle nature..mr iko has been promoted nd transferred..heard hez going to be a vp in a school somewhere..mrs orumade was also transferred..miss solomon is the new snr boarding house master..luckily for this present set..ma p was promoted too..hope the new one won't be worse..
well fgc is less fun buh way more disciplined sha..it's all in the past though..now uniben all the way
Really sad hearing the Kalaya's story, heard she was sick but never knew it was this critical. She was a really nice person if you could look beyond her adamant nature. loool. I was also in charity house and yes i know Pere. Yeah, we left before you guys came in. I also heard the school had changed a lot. Corpers?? Rep?? Looool. We were the last that really understood the tradition of that school. Perhaps you must have heard the school was once bad, it wasn't as bad as what you heard, it was worse! But change is inevitable and we saw it coming. We knew the school would eventually turn out like this. What about Ms Kalaya, Mr ikolodo, Mrs Inoma are they still there? Heard rumuors that Ikolodo was transfered.
Heard you guys even wore blazers and shoes to school and even your school fees were hiked. Damn!

I stay at Excel hostel at Ekosodin, very close to the back gate.

ProgrammingRe: Java JDBC Resultset.next PROBLEM by Javanian: 6:47pm On Aug 30, 2014
OKAY, Let's start. cheesy

First of all, It is imperative for you to know that creating a connection each time a button is clicked is wrong in every way possible. You should put your connection statements in a method and place it in your constructor. So it establishes a connection as soon as the application starts.

So assuming the method is called InitDatbase()

Your code should be something like

void InitDatabase()
{

try
{
String host="jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/Employees";
String uName="admin1";
String uPass="admin";
connection cont =DriverManager.getConnection(host,uName,uPass);
Statement stmtt= cont.CreateStatement();
String SQL="SELECT * FROM Workers";
ResultSet rs3=stmtt.executeQuery(SQL);
}
}

Then you call your InitDatabase() in your constructor like this

  public YourClassName
{
InitDatabase();
}

Okay, i don't really know how you intend to make your app work. So i will touch a possible scenario i can think of. I am going to assume that as soon as the app loads it displays the first user in the database. To do this, you should create a method somewhere and probably call it firstUser();

In your first user method, do this.

void firstUser()
{
try
{
rs3.first();
//get value
string fname=rs3.getString(Fname);
//set value
txtFirstName.setText(fname);
}

}
Now in your btnNextActionPerformed method, do something like this. This would work for the 'NextUserButton'

try
{
rs3.next();
//get value
string fname=rs3.getString(Fname);
//set value
txtFirstName.setText(fname);
}
ProgrammingRe: Java JDBC Resultset.next PROBLEM by Javanian: 6:23pm On Aug 29, 2014
First of all, this is not a logical error, it is a run time error. You are most likely trying to utilize a variable you haven't initialized or a variable that points to null hence the 'NullPointerException'. I can't see the rest of your code but i suspect it is comming from the result set variable 'rs'. Check to see if it has been initialized and if it actually holds any value.

http://pastebin.com/xpYfrdDk

Compare and Contrast this code with yours. It should work now.

Take note of the changes i made including indentation. It is always cool to indent your code. smiley

On a side not, There is no need to give your Package name and Class name the same name and also no need to write them in upper case letters.

Nice job by the way.

Boeing will need engineers too.
They need higher math here.
They need math because the tasks demand it? If ur processing 1billion request per day/hr you need efficient algorithms to keep your server on.
Touché

Speaking of someone who accused me of quoting him out of context, you have just done your fair share of that. I never said you are an advocate of mediocrity and i never implied business softwares were average softwares. Sorry if i sounded condescending when trying to drive home my point, we are both scientist, we disagree to agree. I just disagreed where you said 80% of all the maths has already been implemented an most computer scientist would spend most of their career not applying the 'mathematical theories' they learnt in school hence i spoke of Network and Graph theory.
