Shooting yourselfs in the foot in the name of Biafra then you come to nairaland and ask the government to remember you. Thunder fire you people. During elections you sit at home and threaten those that want to vote and you think roses will be brought to you. Got news that arondizuogu did not vote, and they are thumbprinting the ballots for them with APC. Meanwhile IPOBs went around killing and burning people's homes and threatening people that want to vote to sit at home. |

Govt60: The reason for the flyover was the design of Owerri ring road which didn't give room for any obstruction as it was designed to be a freeway. The structure is solid but finishing was substandard, it can be remedied with little inputs, I would have preferred normal junction than the flyovers. As for control area, the roundabout should be removed and traffic lights installed, flyover there will be overly expensive because it won't be a one way bridge but multiple way. Owerri ring road should be finished totally before touching control roundabout, in order to manage traffic volume. About the Owerri ring road. Has that plan actually been in the government's book. I only heard about Owerri ring road during ohakims tenure. |

Despacito1: I was just looking to find fault here but I was disappointed. Everywhere is neat and I can't find one sachet water or refuse on the roads, like they're sweeping the roads darly. But Is like only on this road because we've seen it thousand times. Nevertheless it's quite impressive and means it's achievable to keep a decent environment. Traffic lights, street lights and marked roads. I can see pedestrian walk way. Owerri is trying, they should replicate such to Orlu and Okigwe too. Travel through the road you will see litters, road sweepers apparently don't exist in Owerri and automated car sweepers formally introduced by ihediohia was probably a media wyning. The pictures are probably just after the road was completed. Now it's a different view. Modified: am not discrediting imo or whomever handled or is handling urban renewal. But the truth is the roads are no longer in good shape. They where not been maintained. And currently are still not properly maintained. Bad roads are still inherent. Truth. World Bank axis, assembly axis, commercial district 2, Douglas road, warehouse, some stretches of wethdral, beyond are all showing the effects of degradation. |

EndsarsReloaded: Owerri is actually underrated. The city has made significant leap in development in recent times based on private sector investments. Owerri used to be behind cities like Calabar and Enugu but not anymore. Owerri also has a night life you can hardly find anywhere else in Nigeria. Owerri is just living in its past glory, the city is no longer as it was. Anybody who have lived in Owerri for long would know that Owerri is loosing it. Even the nightlife is fast diminishing. |

IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT
▪ FLYOVER AT ASSUMPTA CATHEDRAL ROUNDABOUT COMING
▪ DUALIZATION OF OWERRI/MBAISE/UMUAHIA ROAD COMING
••••• The New Signature Projects Of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The Imo State Government is gearing to set new standards in road construction in Imo State.
Towards achieving this goal, the Imo State Ministry of Works will on the 17th June 2022 perform the opening ceremonies of tenders for the under-mentioned road infrastructures.
1. Rehabilitation/ Dualization of the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road.
2. Design & construction of Interchange Bridges (Flyover) at the Assumpta Roundabout Owerri.
These key projects of the Shared Prosperity Administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma will complement other infrastructural milestones already recorded in Imo State.
It will be recalled that the Governor Uzodimma led administration had embarked on the reconstruction of major highways that serve as entry points into the Owerri Capital City.
Already, work is nearing completion at the Owerri/Orlu dual carriageway and the Owerri/Okigwe road. I doubt if a flyover should be in that roundabout. It's too close to nworie river bridge and a very busy junction for that matter. Shutting down control post to diverge traffic would cause problem. And he might even go half way and abandon it like they usually do. The junction no even get enough space for an interchange. Unless they wan cut through asumpta and holygost college properties. |

NkanuSon: This suppose to be a dual road bcs it connects owerri to enugu and then to the north, this road is even more economically viable than orlu road Yes it should but, it would be very expensive. The Conner's are closely dotted with buildings, the government would have to do a lot of demolishing of houses, and relocation of high tension electric poles and markets to dualize it. If not, a dual carriageway rn would make the road very close to people's business shops and homes which is not safe considering it's a highway. |

Yampotatocarrot: If you've every used solar, you'll know solar alone isn't that sustainable. I believe Imo has gas in abundant supply. The best will be to build small power plants which will use gas to generate electricity. You will only send to national grid when your production gets to a certain amount.
So, the way around it is not to produce up to that megawatts and you'll be safe to use it in your state. These mini power plants can be used to power communities and these communities will pay the state government for it.
There are states in Nigeria using this model. Infact, in Jos, the communities around the mining industries have almost constant electricity because they are connected to the power generated by the mining industries and pay their electricity bills to the mining industries I agree with you on gas, but I've used solar tech and battery busted after a few months of use cause it domestic and not enterprise grade. Even our street lights use solar tech and is durable for years. Here in Africa, light is abundant. The cost of using 24/7 solar for 4years is much capital economic than paying for electricity for four years. Solar is carbon neutral and preserves the environment. I quote "Nigeria" because we don't do things properly. Rightly installing solar tech will lift off a little megawatts from main grid while providing on-demand electricity for domestic homes and preserve the environment. |

sanctity454: Power remains one major hindrance to the development of Okigwe zone and we are taking every step possible to solve the problem. Our determination to curb power shortage in and around our zone is unwavering.
The 60Kw solar mini grid project Which we targeted to power rural Ihitte Uboma communities of Umuchiaku and Lowa not connected to PHCN power grid has been completed.
Also, electric poll installation has commenced from some parts of Obowo LGA. Our target is to fix all power related challenges on or before August 2022.
It's my desire to see that our challenges are being sorted out one step at a time.
Senator Frank Ibezim KSC If there are about 100 of this in Imo, national grid will be freed for industrial purposes and the solar stations piped to domestic homes. There would be better electricity distribution and availability in IMO. Is just that our country is bad in sustainability. |
