cascas:Hi, it is best you admit this refusal and explain your concerns in your explanation letter with relevant evidence like the withdrawal mails sent. Best be safe than to be seen as misrepresenting. You can also wait, apply for your case notes and know exactly what had happened. Good luck |
shadeebee78:hi shadeebee78, you couldnt have said it any better. thank you |
rinw:hi rinw, i suggest you just come out as you are. single people get visas always. I am single and I even have family in Canada which is a tie but I have a Canadian Visa and this is the first one i secured as an adult without family sponsorship. to be honest, i even think having friends and relatives may make your case better, my opinion. it is a VOs choice to determine which conditions are good or bad and who merits a visa and who doesnt. the ties you mentioned above are the only ones i have too(work, family, travel history and im single) not a single landed property and an account balance of barely one million but my application was straight forward and my letter of explanation was detailed. i often imagined how easy it would be for a VO to assess my application. i also dont rush any visa application, something always goes wrong. i dont see anything wrong with your situation but of course, im not a VO. on a second note, if your guts arent that strong, wait till you resume your studies and do like a term and then apply, it may be easier and definitely shorter but not necessary positive as some people i know that have gone this route were refused so applications are case by case. take it easy and good luck. |
abiola708:hi Abiola708, you have to stop worrying. best to let them do their job. the message would simply mean what it stated; direct your inquiry/request to lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca |
Snillous:hi, you may have to cut out your lawyer on this one. i am not sure i understand what you explained but i dont think it was the Canadian consulate that called you to reapply, my opinion. first, apply for your GCMS notes to find out why. 5 million nigerian naira is a lot of money, almost CAD20,000 which many Canadians cant even boast of, but this application is primarily not about your money. you have to show substantial ties back home to sway the VO, a tangible reason why you have chosen to visit Canada and a well laid out plan of stay with an intent to return home. the money must also have explainable sources. my take? when you receive your notes, make sure everything in it are addressed and then apply yourself and turn in your application at manor house in lekki third roundabout if you want to take the paper route. best of luck GCMS would mean Global Case Management System but a simple googling would have explained that. if you plan to make this application yourself, you have to make use of the internet and do some research. this is not the UK visa which is primarily about money or the US visa where they are not interested in documents at the embassy. this is an intellectual one just like the Australian or new Zealand visas and that's why these places, including Canada, count as solid travel history worldwide. |
Leleky:hi, in my understanding, the application is considered incomplete and shall be returned to the applicant without processing. however, the vfs guys are supposed to point that out. good luck |
Fejoks:Dear Fejoks, this is too much information but i guess its okay.forgive my language but you can agree with me, if you are unbiased, that you seem desperate. this is what a VO is very well trained for. a TRV is issued on the grounds that the applicant will return and it is always best to present your circumstance as it is so a realistic assessment can be made by a VO. however, the circumstance you have just described does not look good. you need to take your time and prepare your application, please do not rush it as you may just be wasting your money. to answer your questions; firstly, i dont know to what extent the VOs have access so dont lie 1) most likely not but dont lie about this 2) your aunty as a sponsor is not always the best and it depends if you are visiting for pleasure or for business and/or school. it is always best to keep sponsorship in the nuclear family as the VO will wonder why your aunty is sponsoring you and not using her money for other things which, of course, can be explained if you have solid reasons. to make a stronger case, you may even have to show evidence of the relationship but every application is different so nothing someone tells you about a VOs assessment is definite. 3) LOL. clearly I am not a VO sir. i just contribute to the best of my knowledge and make my opinions clear in some cases. i can never advise someone to lie in an application and if any form of information being expected is withheld, it may be considered a lie and appropriate sanctions will follow. follow your guts but take it easy. best of luck |
cascas:Dear cascas, truly in some occasions, when people request to pull their passport and the processing time has well passed, the consulate sometimes just quickly assess it then dispatch. You will have to accept that you have been refused in the forms, however you need to take a complete paragraph in your letter of explanation to explain what happened and attach the refusal letter. I hope it goes well. Best of luck |
gentleiphy:Hi, this is good but you only need google 'tourist attractions in Canada' and they'll all pop up so don't think listing them will sway the VO. An applicant has to make their application whole and connected. A VO is looking for something deeper than a list. For instance, say an applicant is planning to visit the west Edmonton mall which is breathtaking and is a 'must see' site, and you put a flight reservation to Toronto in you travel plans without mentioning how much a flight to Alberta will cost from Toronto (at least 500CAD) and any fees that may be associated with access and all what not at the location. The VO may not be satisfied because there is already a 'gap' and it would seem like you have not planned well. Obviously I am not a VO but if people take more time to make sure the application is complete and addresses all concerns a VO may have, more applications will be approved. This is my opinion. |
sundaydammy:Hi, the processing time has not elapsed so why would you be sending in mails? If you exercise a little more patience, your notes will be out in about 6 weeks. |
kokorita:Hi Kokorita, you can apply for any of the immigration schemes anywhere in the world and here they aren't looking at ties to home country, they are checking to see if your claimed work experience is legit and if all documents submitted are legit. Please note that work experience is very key in any of the express entry schemes and a certain amount of money depending on family size. Please head to the express entry thread here on nairaland for clarification. Best of luck |
pappy0080:Hi pappy0080, this write up makes a lot of sense. First, we don't know exactly how a VO assesses an application but surely if you are genuine and qualify by beating the presumption of immigration, a visa must be issued. The VO can only ,maybe, reduce the validity if s/he wishes. Its not a personal decision. They are well trained. I totally agree with the compelling reason part. This is obvious in some IRCC decisions this year on immigration. Example, they added 15 points to candidates seeking immigration that have siblings in canada. The truth is that if an applicant judges him/herself fairly and unbiased, they will refuse their own application but people don't asses their own application and they rush too much. Purpose of visit truly does explain why you are visiting or what plans you have made for your TRV application, at least according to CIC website. Every application is different you know and travel history is just one way to asses an applicant. People I know have gotten visas with hotel bookings. The only thing is that when people get their refusal letters, they don't apply for their case notes. The VO can tick whatever h/she likes. They are not bound by law to reveal the entire circumstance of refusal if you don't request for the GCMS.A friend of mine who has lived in the U.K. For years to school, returned, and visited again for grad and again for holiday(still on the six months visit visa previously issued for grad) with no violations which the VO even acknowledged. he then applied this year to visit for his brothers convocation but it was refused and the VO knows he has been a frequent UK visitor. It all depends and its only a VO of a particular country, which in this thread a Canadian VO, knows what they are looking for and what ties are enough. Thank you so much for this contribution |
Leleky:Dear leleky, if an applicant qualifies for a VO by overcoming the presumption of immigration, a visa will be issued |
Fejoks:Hi fejoks, money lodgement is not a crime per say. It just doesn't represent the true financial circumstance of the applicant so if you have bulk deposit in recent months before your application, a well detailed explanation should be laid out and the money should easily be traceable from source to destination. Money is a factor here but not the primary thing. People with loads of money get refusals all the time like everyone else. For me, it is easier for the rich to even settle abroad. Ties evaluation is done as a whole. However, as an adult, you should be able to afford a vacation because this is a fun thing and not committment In any way so you could have also chosen somewhere else. See, if you were attending, say, your sibling's graduation/marriage and your father supports you with some money I think it makes much more sense. I'm not saying you should lie, don't, you will most likely even be caught. I am just trying to make you understand the difference in the visiting purposes. Also, you will have to show an account of at least 4months to enable the VO do a realistic assessment. |
EBENEZERABAYOMI:Dear EBENEZERABAYOMI, please do not apply for this visa in your current situation. You are falling short of a lot of personal research which is supposed to help you make your case a strong one. If I was the VO, these would be my thoughts: If you don't know tourist attractions in Canada then why are you going there really? What points you to canada? Why cant you visit finer places that are even closer and the visa is a piece of cake to obtain and generally a cheaper holiday? This will, in essence, point the VO that you plan not to return. For me and I may say for a fact, Canada isn't so much fun to visit as a random place without having people(family and/or close friends there for instance. A VO knows that so when you make that decision to visit, they look for that one reason why it has to be canada. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful and serene place but if you're looking to holiday and see sights, Canada shouldn't even be in first 10 countries. If however you have a history of exploring, and can show it in pictures and passport stamps evidence, the VO will then understand that indeed you are an explorer and Canada is probably just one of the countries on your List. A VO must be convinced you will return before a visa is issued even though people then misuse it but s/he has to have that satisfaction based on the immigration laws. My suggestion? Take your time, don't rush these things. Once the application makes sense to you, it most likely will make sense to the VO. My opinion always. Best of luck |
JinkelTrucks:Hi jinkeltrucks, it really depends on the circumstances in which her visa was issued. If she was pregnant at the time but didn't declare and now shows up at POE for birthing, CBP may frown at it and this doesn't always go well. All things being equal, she would need evidence of prior communication with a doctor, possible a bill breakdown and a whole lot of money. Please head over to the birthing in the US thread here on nairaland for clarification. Best of luck |
mesh2003:Hi mesh2003, timelines matter depending on an application. I know people whose GCMS notes specifically mentioned that. You may need to research on that. If you have a time dependent application and you missed the timeline due to application processing times, even if a VO is merciful and issues, the CBSA officer can still refuse entry. If this is a reunion of family/friends alongside whatever, the case is then different. |
stjsd:Hi stjsd, it depends. If you applied for mainly a business inclined visit like a training or one time conference/symposium, the timelines of your application matters a lot because if this is the only reason you wish to visit Canada, then it has passed and there wouldn't be any need to issue and the VO can refuse the application based on purpose of visit. But it is not always the case as every application is different. But If you then apply to visit friends or family maybe alongside something else, timing will be less considered in that case. It is simple to understand I believe and only you know the entire circumstance in which you applied. Send mails if you believe it may assist your case. Best of luck |
EBENEZERABAYOMI:Dear EBENEZERABAYOMI, this is not true as Canada and US issue most first time travelers visas. Travel history is a way a VO can assess your ties back home because if you have a history of going to advanced countries and returning, it would mean vaguely that you have something important to come back home to. It would also clear a concern of where you have been to as regards hostile regions. In essence, travel history counts but ties evaluation is a holistic approach. You surely don't have to make meaningless trips especially to SA or UAE as these countries don't even carry weight as far as travel history is concerned in a US/Canada visa application. Take it easy and make your application strong by presenting meaningful documents, your application will be approved. Best of luck |
cascas:Dear cascas, I will have to turn down this request because I like to do this at my leisure. I hope you understand. We shall always try to respond to request here because we all learn in the process too. |
Travelpes:Hi Travelpes, its always a good idea you apply early. Best of luck |
Kendrick56:Hi, buying a ticket before visa issuance is never a good idea and could even be a waste of money. It is not a requirement for a visa. If you're a frequent traveler, you should have known that fully. The Canadian embassy will not jump queues for you if you don't qualify for expedited processing. Truly, I believe if they attend to your application because of your disturbance, it's rather because its your time and documents have been verified and evaluated and just in time to be issued/denied and of course this must be after the processing times have elapsed. For your case, it's either you pull your passport or you modify your itinerary. Good luck |
cascas:Hi, google would have easily helped you out with this; CBSA- Canada border services agency POE- port of entry GCMS- global case management system IRCC- immigration refugees citizenship Canada US CBP- US customs and border protection I am sorry to say that your job role must have a designated NOC to use express entry. You can start off your journey as a student, gain some Canada work experience alongside and use the CEH( Canada experience hire) route as this is for people with work experience within Canada. You might have to visit the express entry thread here on nairaland for clarification. Good luck |
bigcil2:Hi bigcil2, this is a pretty long post and most of the questions have been addressed just a few pages back which questions your claim to have read up the thread. I hope i can still assist. Firstly, using your business account is not always a good idea. Best to separate business from pleasure. 1) you mustn't have someone in Canada to be qualified for a visa 2) be honest with your intentions but I think 6 weeks is too long. You better have a structure in place to help clear the VOs concern of how your business will be run in this time 3)booking.com or airbnb to the rescue here 4)this is not a good idea. It would seem you are spending a company's money for pleasure. VOs never welcome it so you better have a great explanation 5)this is good for you but I don't see a question here really 6)this is solely at the discretion of the VO but CIC will never issue a visa exceeding passport expiration unlike the US and the U.K. 7)also solely at the discretion of the VO. Actually VOs have been advised by IRCC to issue long term multiple entry visas if applicants qualify for it so if you impress the VO, you'll be in luck. You can read that up on CICs website 8 )business is allowed on the category V visa but this should not be your primary purpose of visit if you had earlier stated in your application you're visiting for tourism. It will seem deceptive and the CBSA officer will frown at it. Remember they have power so don't upset them. 9)there is no format here. This is your best bet to impress the VO and also make the job easy. Make it explicit yet not too long 10)budgets are totally up to individuals. For me, I must shop and see the new city so it's always high so I limit my self-funded travels to 2-3 times a year. You need to have enough money and this depends on period of visit and actual destination in Canada . There are cheaper carriers but I wouldn't advise air maroc unless you're heading to Montreal however ET is good but not cheap anymore. Those days are gone with the naira devaluation in June 2016. What you have to look out for is to make sure your flight is not routed via this US. If you're going inward towards Saskatoon or Vancouver, airfrance/Klm are fund of routing their flights via MSP in the US. Play around with your dates in the period but December is a peak carrier period. Prepare to pay high. 11) paying for anything before a visa here is a waste of money. Booking details will suffice 12) again, booking details and a planned itinerary is enough. Proper planning here is key Best of luck |
cascas:Hi, it is tough, though not impossible, to regularize a category V visa because these visas are issued believing you are coming back and any thing otherwise may not be illegal but is not exactly right on a technicality. My advise would be to try one of the express entry schemes. They are pretty straight forward. The challenge in Canada particularly is that even when you try to be 'smart' with this visit visa conversion process, you need to revisit a POE for a work/study permit to be issued of which you will be at the mercy of the assessing CBSA officer and in my experience, they are way tougher than the US CBP. Express entry is your best bet. Best of luck |
cascas:Hi cascade, ESL would be English as a second language and BC would refer to the province of British Columbia. This is not a good plan sir, stay away from it. My opinion always. Best of luck |
cmurder007:Dear cmurder007, I am not sure if this letter has a format. Write it as tho it is a written interview. Section by section. Raise points you think the VO may be bothered about and give reasons why they shouldn't. Travel history, feeding/accommodation arrangements; funding etc. Also use this document to point out where very important documents are in your uploads to make the VO's job easier. More importantly, this document should not be more than two pages. I guess they made it that way so it doesn't get boring. Good luck |
Snillous:Hi Snillous, it is good you have a huge gap between now and your last application to clear the thought of desperation. Thrice is a Lot of times so The first I suggest you do is to apply for GCMS notes of your last refused application. This will clarify things further, don't always try to 'repackage and refire' because it only works when you have 'mistakenly' addressed the concern the VO raised without knowing but that's a big risk. The documents you need to back up your application are all relevant docs attaching you to Nigeria. Again, this process is primarily about you and not the person in Canada. I don't understand what the police document he will get on your behalf will do anyway. Just an invitation letter is enough. The police don't dictate to the CBSA or IRCC. A CBSA officer's decision is almost final. The government gave them that power. They can even cancel visas issued by a CIC VO just the way US CBP cancel visas issued by US VO and they owe you no explanation according to their law. It is also good you have traveled out of your home country and returned. However, this is just one way to assess an applicant and don't bank on that as Canadian VOs are not very interested in UAE and SA as travel history just like the USA VOs. You have to check other factors; marriage, kids, good job in line with your academic qualifications mostly, landed property, significant relationship with the person you're visiting as in your case. Its a holistic approach. Best of luck |
Bostin:Hi Bostin, if it was that easy, Canada would be over populated by now. Bearing in mind that this visitor has 6months max to achieve this. What happens if the study permit is refused? You also know that you have to come back to apply for a work permit and then reenter Canada; what happens if the CBSA officer is not satisfied with the whole plan. There are streams for immigration and it is always advised and applicant follows one of them. Trying to be 'smart' backfires a lot and damage reputations. Best of luck with this plan. |
xpfocus:dear xpfocus, your chances cannot be told by anyone here. only a Canadian VO can. once again, its primarily not about the person in Canada but the intending visitor. in my opinion, the VO would be concerned why you are leaving your family to visit an online male friend over 10000km away just for pleasure. your task here is simple; make the assessing VO understand why you have to make this trip. assess it yourself and be unbiased. firstly, what do you do for a living? why would you leave your family to visit a friend that far away? is this a business trip in which you intend to team up with him and make profit later on? are you into similar farming business? if there is no connection, you may be wasting your money. please connect all your dots before you apply so that your money will count. best of luck |
abiola708:hi abiola708, the only way to find out is when you open your passport. in an online application, you know it has been approved when you get a passport request but for this paper route, you have to wait it out to the fullest. good luck. |
dacoza007:dear dacoza007, this is a great burden to overcome so please, dont underestimate it. your girlfriend is a legal resident and may be financially capable to host you but this is not the VO is looking for. its primarily about the applicant. what do you feel when you do an unbiased assessment? do you think you would want to come back home? be honest. is your business that significant to you? can the VO trust you to come back because you have a history of going to better places and returning home? a VO's decision is never personal. there are immigration laws that even you can lookup and read about. engagement to one's home country is what a VO is looking for and you seem to be falling short of it. lets be objective; if you travel, there is actually nothing you would want to come back to Nigeria to, at least from the circumstance you have described. there is no wife or children, maybe no socio-cultural ties, you mentioned you dont have a lot of money but do you have landed properties? you know, you can actually look at your own situation and make a calculated guess. this guess must be positive before you even think of applying so that you dont end up wasting your hard earned money. please, do take your time with this one. best of luck, you certainly need it. |
